Chapter 10:
I didn’t know who he was, but he was not someone I should’ve messed with, his voice was demanding in it’s presence, “Are you a new member then? This one only called you over, but didn’t want to tell us anything.”
He threw a bloodied body on the ground before himself, it was most likely the member of the resistance that sent out the signal. What worried me though was that the Beast was just standing by his side. But I didn’t know what to do, or what the best course of action was.
This area wasn’t in my favor either, I had a bit more than a handful of marks around here, and most of them were on that damn Beast. My thinking was interrupted by him “Wait a moment, aren’t you that Hayato Raiiki, do you have a sister called Yuki?” I didn’t listen for another second.
Using the mark on the Beast I lunged forward at him with the dagger, “What do you know about my sister.” It didn’t go as I thought, he simply grabbed my hand before it reached anywhere near him, “So it seems she is, she is quite the beauty wouldn’t you say.”
He flipped me over his shoulder, pinning me down, “Tell me what you know about the resistance. Or you will start losing stuff.” He began to twist my arm, my eyes were already filled with anger at this point so I barely felt it, I turned my head to him, “Where is my sister?”
“Like I would tell someone like you anything.” It seemed like he wasn’t gonna tell me anything. So trying to kill him was the obvious choice there.
Sliding my knife across the ground I teleport to it and free myself, he simply applauded me, “Interesting, you are very fast.” I threw a knife at him, then teleported on the mark on the floor where he knocked me down.
Teleporting to the mark on the ground, I try a high kick, but he simply moves out of the way. Grabbing the dagger I slash at his torso, also dodged. Even as I suddenly switched the two daggers between his hands. Still dodged.
He smirked at me, “You are quite the interesting one, you must be wondering how I am dodging all your attacks?” I only gritted my teeth together even harder. His relaxed expression pissed me off to my core, “It is simple, I am also a power bearer, but unlike you trash, I chose to hand myself over and be a weapon for the government.”
I guessed he was special, but a power bearer working for the government, first time I heard that back then. He seemed to have awaited an answer from me, but he didn’t get one so he continued to talk, “My power is the ability to sense battle will, or just simpler to say, I can sense incoming attacks.”

Why he explained his power to be, I don’t know either. But it didn’t help at all, how can I harm someone who can see my every move coming already. Regardless, he held answers that I wanted, so finding those came first.
Gripping both of my weapons tightly, I let out a deep breath, I threw a dagger directly at him. Right in front of his face I teleport to it, throwing the knife into the air.
With minimal effort he just blocked my stab. But that was the best outcome, I moved up to the dagger in the air, grabbing it and appearing before him again. This time I slash broadly, releasing a large burst of energy forward.
This burst raised a large dust cloud and I jumped back from all of it. As I looked at the damage I caused, it was way more powerful than my usual, two teleports were normally never this destructive.
The only difference this time was that I was incredibly angry, but my time to think ended quickly. Dust settled on the ground and it showed me what my attack caused. Though it wasn’t as I hoped, I looked at the man, only thing damaged on him was the sleeves of his suit. I was able to get a few of his underlings but he didn’t seem to care.
“It seems you are quite strong, but not really strong enough to be useful. If only you were as strong as my sister Mari, then you would’ve been a fun time. But I guess I should take you out now.”
Before I even collected my thoughts, I felt his palm striking my gut, pushing me into the ground. He placed his other hand onto my chest applying a downward force, I could feel the air escaping my lungs.
“I have to give you praise though, you were able to cause damage to my suit. That is more than the other 286 Power Bearers I have killed so far. Congrats.”
Congrats my ass, he isn’t even trying to kill me properly. But I couldn’t let my life get snuffed out so easily, I tried focusing on my marks, but my gasping for air broke my concentration.
Slowly I began fading out of consciousness, merely seconds before I was out totally I finally focused in on the mark on Nina I put. Mustering a bit of strength, I teleport to her and drop on the floor near her.
“Hayato, Hayato, are you okay? What happened?” she rocked my body back and forth, but I couldn’t speak. I just grabbed onto her shoulder, moving us both back into the base in the control center.
Back in the present in the jail cell.
“That was last I remembered before passing out.” His cellmate looks at him in awe, he scribbles on the board while Hayato is eating his lunch.
He turns the board to Hayato, “So did you survive that? *a winky face emoji*” Hayato throws a book at him and the board. “Oh frick off, if I didn’t survive then I wouldn’t have been telling you this now.”
Both of them laugh a bit, he actually writes something down this time, “So is he the reason that they were actually able to capture you later on?” Hayato just sighed, “If only it were him, then I would at least me able to take pride in being caught my him instead of getting killed.”
He leans his head back onto the wall, “If only I had played my hand in another way, maybe I would’ve ended up in a more favorable position.”
