Chapter 4: The incident

In the loud and chaotic bar, amidst the booming music and groups of men and women dancing, the noise was deafening and wild.

In a quiet corner, Albus D'Auremont was celebrating his birthday with friends. He and his gang were intent on drinking until they were completely drunk.

Standing up to offer a toast, Albus couldn’t see his girl beside him. He swirled his drink, unaware of the white powder slowly dissolving into his glass.

He picked up the glass and cheer, "This one is on you Luc, I toast you with this drink…"

Meanwhile, Rivers Vivienne hesitated as she entered the bar. Feeling uneasy, she asked the system in her mind, "Is he really under the influence?"

After spending the day exploring, Rivers Vivienne had figured out what the system was. She had learned how to use it, and essentially, completing the tasks it set for her would reward her with various prizes—famous director’s works, excellent scripts, beauty items, and more!

She didn’t know exactly how the system worked, but she knew that in order to return to the entertainment industry, she needed resources. She couldn’t afford to turn down this temptation.

Even if it was real or fake, what harm could there be in trying? It couldn’t be worse than her past life.

Although the system’s request was strange—helping Marc D'Auremont wear a "green hat"—the more green hats she added, the greater the rewards.

She hesitated for only a second before agreeing.

Marc D'Auremont could cheat, so why couldn’t she make him wear a "green hat"? After all, their marriage was already just a formality.

Thinking of the past, Rivers Vivienne felt no guilt about giving Marc a "green hat" and, in fact, felt it was her form of revenge.

Her first target? Marc’s cousin, Albus D'Auremont.

The system had informed her that Albus had been drugged, and this was a rare opportunity. If she missed it, who knew when the next chance to complete the mission with him would come?

The system’s task was simple: it didn’t matter if she manipulated or forced things—just creating a physical relationship was enough to complete the mission.

That's why she had appeared at this bar.

As for the baby? The system had taken care of it—completely neutralized, without any discomfort. After that, her stomach returned to normal, as if she had never been pregnant.

This trick made her trust the system without question.

[Beep! Host, rest assured, the system's prediction is accurate. Albus D'Auremont is currently drugged and alone in a hotel.]

"Go now, and there is a 99% chance to complete the task," the system reassured her.

Rivers Vivienne felt relieved. In her mind, she comforted herself: "I’m already here, what’s the point of hesitating? It’s just one time. Albus isn’t bad-looking, and I’m not losing anything. Plus, there are rewards to look forward to! This is a win-win situation."

Following the system’s instructions, Rivers Vivienne entered the room where Albus D'Auremont was.

Arden Forster, still cultivating late into the night, suddenly remembered that Rivers Vivienne had been reborn, and the night she was reborn, she had slept with Albus.

She had just encountered Albus at the bar, where he was drugged, and luckily had managed to plant the first "seed" for Marc D'Auremont.

Arden trusted her spiritual mark, but she wasn’t sure how the drugged Albus would react.

She couldn’t guarantee the situation, but at this point, if something had already happened, it was too late to worry. What was done was done, and worrying now would be a waste of energy.

Arden returned to her training and decided to wait until tomorrow to see how things unfolded.

----------------------------------------

The hotel room was neat, with the initial decorations still in place, except for the bed and surrounding area, which were a mess.

Clothes were scattered on the floor, the blanket half-fallen off, and the sheets were wrinkled.

The sunlight seeped through the window, slowly warming the room. Albus woke up, disturbed by the light, and raised his hand to shield his eyes, annoyed that someone had opened the curtains.

After a moment, Albus slowly woke up, turned his head, and looked at the other side of the bed.

There, he saw long black hair on the pillow. Albus jolted upright.

"Damn! Damn it! What was going on? He had told Lucas to take the girl away yesterday. How was she still here?"

Albus' eyes narrowed, his anger rising. Whoever dared to set him up would regret it.

But when the girl on the bed slowly turned around, Albus' eyes widened in disbelief.

It was none other than Rivers Vivienne—his brother Marc’s wife!

Rivers Vivienne slowly woke up, her confused eyes making her look almost endearing in her sleepy state.

When she saw Albus, she immediately screamed, pulling the blanket to cover her body.

"Wh-What are you doing?!" she stammered, her eyes wide in panic as she looked at the mess around them.

Her face grew serious: "We... we didn’t do anything, right?"

Her eyes were filled with desperation, and tears welled up, as if she only needed to hear "no" from him to burst into tears.

Her sweet and innocent demeanor could move anyone, making them feel guilty and pity her.

Had Albus not been spiritually marked by Arden, he might have fallen for Rivers Vivienne’s act. But now, his mind was clear and rational, and he wasn’t easily manipulated.

He replied coldly, "Why is my sister-in-law here, who should be at home resting during her pregnancy? Yesterday, I was drugged and out of it. Were you also confused?"

It was well-known within the D'Auremont family how much Marc valued the child Rivers Vivienne was carrying. It was impossible for her to be drinking or drugged.

So how did she end up here in this bar, in this chaotic situation?

More importantly, why was she in his bed, acting innocent?

Firstly, she was pregnant and couldn’t possibly be drinking, let alone to the point of losing her senses.

Second, no one at home could have drugged her.

And third, how did she get into his room? Lucas had left the door locked. She couldn’t have opened it without a key.

With so many inconsistencies, her act of innocence seemed overwhemly ridiculous.

Albus' expression grew colder as he put the pieces together. Rivers Vivienne was definitely not innocent in this situation.

She wiped her eyes and tried to steady herself.

"Are you doubting me?" she asked.

She hadn’t expected Albus, who was usually the most naive, to be this perceptive.

Despite completing her task with Albus, she couldn’t afford for him to suspect her. As Marc’s wife, trying to seduce his cousin was a mistake she couldn’t afford to make. The D'Auremont family would never let her get away with it.

The D'Auremonts were powerful, and even if the system provided all the resources in the world, Rivers Vivienne wouldn’t survive their wrath if they turned on her.

First, she needed to calm Albus down. If she could keep this a secret, she could still find a way out.

"Am I crazy for doing this? I’m a victim too!" she said, trying to appear innocent.

Albus coldly replied, "Don’t let me find out you’re involved in this. If I do, there will be consequences."

After speaking, he quickly got dressed and left, not even bothering to wash his face. He didn’t want to spend another second in the same room with her.

Rivers Vivienne let out a relieve sigh as Albus left but felt an overwhelming pressure. She needed to focus on the rewards and completing the mission.

She looked at the system’s prompt with surprise.

"Why is it just a supporting role?" she wondered. She had expected a major role, but it was just a supporting character. Could she have done all this for such a small part?

The system reassured her: [Don’t underestimate the system. This character is the perfect fit for you. If you perform well, you’ll be more famous than the lead.]

Rivers Vivienne began to understand. This was just the first step in her comeback, and even though people would think she was using the D'Auremont family’s power, it was still a huge opportunity.

Then the system added: [Aside from that, you’ve received a Snow Lotus Pill as a reward. Try it, and you’ll see.]

Rivers Vivienne’s eyes brightened when she saw the Snow Lotus Pill mentioned. She knew its benefits. Every woman dreamed of becoming more beautiful, especially with a beauty product that left no trace. Without hesitation, she took the pill.

After the pill worked its magic, her skin became as white as snow, making her feel thrilled.

Meanwhile, Albus, still at the bar, went to the manager and requested to see the security footage from last night.

The manager, seeing it was the D'Auremont family’s young master, immediately complied and led him to the monitoring room.

When Albus saw Rivers Vivienne on the screen, entering the bar sober, and then heading straight to the elevator, he knew she hadn’t been drugged. She had been fully aware of what she was doing.

He took a deep breath and said, "Get me this footage, and destroy all copies. This cannot get out."
