Do you feel it?” A deep voice asked.
“How could I not, five of them have awoken; he volunteered for this and now he has put us all into jeopardy, such a young fool!” This was a feminine voice, not alluring in anyway but scratchy and hoarse.
“You forget Valindra; he is by many years your elder. And if he heard you call him that he would have no hesitation in killing all your guards and tearing you in half.” It was a third voice, his voice breaking on the high notes.
The first voice spoke again. “He is by many hundreds of years all of our elder. We forget because he spent so much time in the orient after the fall of his clan. He would destroy us all in a heart beat and not care of the repercussions. Let us hope we never forget his strength or age again; and for that matter of the allies he has.”
The young voice spoke again. “I hope they kill him. Those ancients have the power to kill anything in there path; even if he is as old as he claims to be; which I do not believe he is. There is no way he can kill a thousand year old vampire, even if he is 998 years old.”
“He has the strength of one twice that age and you know he is not lying. He has fought against us and won, sparing my life twice when he could have easily killed me. No five hundred year old could beat me and you both know it. I believe his claim and I will not cross him again. He has a hatred in his eyes that tells me he will never stop becoming stronger and will never stop killing. I for one am glad he decided to go to Tasmania; because if what we feel is truly happening then few others could stop what has been awoken.” He had a hint of fear in his deep voice, not noticeable by the other two because they weren’t truly in the dark room but he felt a shiver go down his spine.
“There is no way he could stop an ancient.” Valindra spoke in a hushed voice, “I do not doubt his age nor his strength for he has beaten my fighter’s time and again while in battle and out. We are at peace with him and his kind and I pray if he lives he never hears what I am going to say, but no one could kill the creatures that we feel. Many are waking up, whether it’s his doing or not, they will come at him. This creature has slept for longer then we have been turned, he was our creator’s master. Luke is doomed and I pray that the ancient sleeps again when he is finished hunting; because if he decides to rejoin society or just to kill for sport we will no longer be leaders, or worse we will be dead.”
“I agree with you Valindra but my hope is Luke finds a way to overcome this threat and the other four that are awakening and puts them into eternal slumber.” The fear in his voice was still there but with a hint of anger. “I for one do not hope or even want to imagine, what will happen if he dies. Even if he killed Romulus he couldn’t overcome the other four, he would be out of strength and wouldn’t be able to win. I hope they turn against each other and he picks them off one by one.”

“He is too arrogant, he will challenge them straight up and loose. We would all be better off with him gone and an ancient as our leader. He founded the Roman Empire, and then became a god in his people’s eyes. He would not stand for the friendship we hold with the wolves and we would be invincible if he let us drink of his essence.” It was the younger sounding voice that spoke, who was in fact the oldest of the three there. “My hope is not the hope of our race though; I fear we as a whole want peace with those mangy beasts.”
“We do want peace young one, I speak only of my clan of course, please take no offense at either comment. I am sorry to be arriving late my brethren but the situation in my country is dicey at the moment.” The new arrival spoke with an oriental accent. Being born and raised in china. His English was rarely misunderstood though. “I hope you have been speaking about the reawakening of our lost leaders.”
“Yes Xianzong we have been discussing it to the best of our knowledge. We fear our chosen fighter will fail.” Valindra said almost sarcastically.
“Please call me Li Chun; I gave that name up when my subjects failed to cure my vampirism long ago.” His voice sounded sad, as if he was remembering that time long ago and wished for a different outcome. “I felt them awaken; all of them. Do you all truly believe that Romulus has risen again?”
“He created our master, you have no connection to him so you only feel his strength but we feel who it is. We know he has risen, and we fear that the other four who have awoken are the four he created directly, our master included.” It was the deep voice again. He sounded almost sad.
“Well we asked for one of the strongest fighters from each clan to go and he shot us down. You all were there. He laughed at us; he said if we all went we still couldn’t do what he could by himself. I am tired of that one; he thinks we have no strength.” The others could tell Valindra was getting upset. She at one point had loved Luke; she was the only person he had offered to turn into a werewolf.
“And he was right; you Valindra should know better then us how strong he truly is. I have heard the stories of the vampire clans he destroyed because of what they did to you. His anger towards us has only been stated because you have become a leader. I don’t think back then he had a quarter of the strength he does now. But yet you still doubt him? There are few others who could match his strength speed and wit; and let me say that none of them are here with me now.” It was Li Chun speaking. He had met Luke many years ago and he had what he believed was a friendship with the man.
Valindra sighed. “I know you are right, but I am frightened. We have just become peaceful with our living counterparts. And if someone that old rises with four followers that will do exactly what he wants, we could be wiped out. Especially if he wants to fight like their master said he did.”
The youngest voice spoke up after listening to the others talk. “I have already made my thoughts know. Our master wouldn’t let Romulus destroy what we have built. He chose Richard and I, not only because we were royalty but because he saw strength in us, and that is what his master wanted.”
“That is enough brother; we do not want them to take control, just because they turned our master Caesarion and he transformed us does not mean he will let us live, he started the roman empire Edward. He had given up on our race long before we were turned and we have no chance of appeasing him now.”
“Let us not think of what might be, we should send our strongest fighters to Tasmania to lend Luke our aide, I do not think he can feel there awakening like we can, being among the living and all. He at least needs to be warned. I will send my choice immediately. I hope you all do the same.” With that Li Chun’s presence was gone.
“I hope he does win, I do not yet wish to die.” With that comment the deep voice was gone.
“I am halfway Edward, I know your Richard disagrees with you but you did spend more time with your master. We will wait and see.” Valindra was gone as well.
“If he does fail, I truly think we will have a war.” He said to himself, “And a war is exactly what I have wanted.”
His presence was then gone, the room lightened slightly. It was an ancient tomb; the burial place of Richard and Edward’s parents. They had never truly been there, but their minds had made it there meeting place.
