"Die!"
With a furious roar, Zhou Wanyou's long blade came crashing down!
"Hmph!"
Yang Yi snorted coldly, his eyes full of arrogance. Despite Zhou Wanyou drawing his blade and shouting angrily, in Yang Yi's eyes, Zhou's movements were as slow as an ant's.
In the next moment, Yang Yi extended his hand, effortlessly catching Zhou Wanyou's blade.
"This... impossible!" Zhou Wanyou was dumbfounded. He exerted all his strength but couldn't pull the blade back; Yang Yi's grip was like an iron clamp!
"Die!"
With a single word, Yang Yi pulled and flicked his hand, easily taking the blade and then hurling it forward with a whoosh.
Bang!
The blade flew as if guided by a precise aim, embedding itself directly in Zhou Wanyou's throat, pinning him to the ground as he fell, lifeless.
Afterward, Yang Yi, showing no mercy, struck down everyone in his path. His icy gaze then turned towards the back door as he proceeded forward.
About an hour later, a group of fully armed patrol guards slowly made their way up the mountain. They were all armed, but their expressions were quite casual.
Leading them was none other than Lord Jin, who was sitting in a carriage, lazily pointing towards the Zhou family's manor. "Go and clean up. Have Zhou Wanyou come to see me."
"Yes, my lord."
His subordinates nodded and then called out to the others to move forward. They were very familiar with such tasks, having done this many times before.
"Tsk tsk, the Zhou family has a wedding today, and someone dared to cause trouble."
"Seeking death, aren't they? Doesn't everyone know that the lord favors the Zhou family? Come on, let's hurry. Maybe we can make some extra cash."
As the group chatted, they moved forward. But when they saw the Zhou family guards lying on the ground, some of them frowned.
Even so, they didn’t think much of it; after all, whoever dared to cause trouble here must have some skill.
However, as they entered the manor and stepped into the hall, they were completely stunned.
"This... this..."
"My God, this is serious!"
"Quick, go inform the lord! Everyone else, stay put! No one goes inside until the lord decides!"
The squad leader shouted and immediately sent someone to notify Lord Jin.
They remained outside the hall, their faces pale as they stared at the scene. Some of the more faint-hearted among them were already ashen-faced.
Halfway down the mountain, Lord Jin sat in his carriage, thinking about how he would deal with the starlet the Zhou family had gifted him once he got back.
Just then, someone came running down the mountain, drenched in sweat and pale-faced. As soon as they approached, they stammered, "L-Lord! There's trouble!"
Lord Jin frowned, a sinking feeling in his heart as he saw the man's panicked expression. "Get out of the carriage," Lord Jin growled. "Why the panic? What happened? Speak clearly!"
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
The man wiped the sweat from his brow and said with a bitter smile, "My lord, you should see for yourself."
Lord Jin snorted coldly, glaring at his subordinate. He thought to himself that it was time to straighten out the inspection bureau; this was no way to behave!
All this panic, making him look bad!
Lord Jin still hadn't given the situation much thought, confident in the Zhou family's abilities.
He strolled leisurely up to the manor, casting a disdainful glance at the Zhou family guards lying on the ground. "Is this all?"
His subordinate pointed ahead with a troubled expression. "My lord, over there!"
Lord Jin frowned, quickening his pace unconsciously. As he reached the hall's entrance, he saw the patrol guards standing outside, with some even vomiting!
The ominous feeling in Lord Jin's heart grew stronger. He shouted angrily, "Move aside!"
The crowd immediately made way, and as Lord Jin rushed inside, he froze in place.
There on the ground lay dozens of people, most of them bleeding from their mouths and noses, their arms and legs twisted and broken. A few had even had their jaws shattered!
Blood was everywhere!
A sea of crimson!
Seeing this, Lord Jin felt a chill run through his entire body. He gulped, his legs trembling as he stepped forward.
Then, he saw Zhou Feng, the eldest son of the Zhou family, with his head twisted a full 180 degrees!
"This! This this..." Lord Jin was horrified.
And when he saw Zhou Wanyou, the Zhou family head, pinned to the ground by a long blade through his throat, his vision went black.
"This is impossible!" Lord Jin exclaimed.
"My lord, this is a murder case—a major murder case!" one of his subordinates whispered.
Hearing this, Lord Jin's body trembled. Yes, this was a major murder case, and if he didn't handle it properly, it would be the end of him!
With that thought, he frantically searched the scene, looking for something.
But no, the person he wanted to see wasn't there!
Not even a trace!
"How could this be? Did he really..." Lord Jin dared not finish the thought.
But deep down, he didn’t believe it. There were forty to fifty people lying here—it was impossible for one person to have done this.
"Seal the area! No one enters without my permission!" Lord Jin shouted, his voice sharper than usual.
Just then, someone approached and said, "My lord, there are injured people who need treatment immediately!"
Smack!
Lord Jin slapped the person hard, yelling, "Then treat them! Why the hell are you standing here?"
The person, not daring to be angry after being slapped, turned and hurried off to help.
Lord Jin, now drenched in sweat, knew that if he didn’t handle this well, it would be his end.
This case was too big. He thought for a moment, then quickly pulled out his phone to call his superior. He had to report this; it was beyond his ability to manage.
"What is it?" A calm voice answered.
Lord Jin habitually bowed, forcing a smile. "Chief, there's been... an incident! The Zhou family, the Zhou family was nearly wiped out!"
There was a noticeable pause on the other end, followed by a raised voice, "What did you say? Explain yourself!"
The voice was filled with intense anger. Hearing it, Lord Jin began to sweat even more. This was Director Yan Yushan of the inspection bureau, known as the "Living Yama."
Though Lord Jin commanded respect outside and could do as he pleased, in front of this "Living Yama," he was nothing. The man could squash him like an ant.
At that moment, even though Yan Yushan wasn't physically there, Lord Jin's back bent even lower. He nervously recounted everything, including the bribes and favors he'd received from the Zhou family. Finally, he added, "Chief, I can't be certain who this Yang Yi really is, but he definitely didn't act alone. I suspect he had accomplices!"
Yan Yushan's voice came through the phone, "Are you at the scene now?"
Lord Jin immediately nodded. "Yes, Chief, I'm here at the Zhou family's estate in Yun Ding Manor, in Western Beijing."
"Hmph! The Zhou family's estate? Do they even deserve to call it that? Stay where you are; I'm coming over!"
With that, Yan Yushan hung up.
Lord Jin wiped away the sweat from his forehead, straightening up as his back stopped hurting. Looking around, he saw his subordinates standing far away, with their backs turned to him.
Satisfied, Lord Jin shouted, "The Chief is on his way. Hurry up and get things in order!"
