Chapter 20: Never Leaving, Never Forsaking

Chapter 20: Never Leaving, Never Forsaking

As Yang Yi reopened his eyes, the murderous intent that had enveloped his entire being seemed to concentrate entirely within his gaze.

Facing him, Zhou Feng, who had been wild and menacing just moments before, suddenly froze.

At that moment, Zhou Feng felt as though he was staring into a hellish landscape filled with corpses and rivers of blood. The entire world seemed to transform into a crimson nightmare. His vision was overwhelmed by the sight of Yang Yi's cold, indifferent eyes!

"Ah! No, please, don't kill me!" Zhou Feng trembled with fear, retreating shakily.

The madness that had gripped Zhou Feng earlier vanished as he was paralyzed by the aura of death, now reduced to a quivering, frightened child waking from a nightmare.

"You! Deserve! To die!"

These three words came from Yang Yi's mouth as he watched Zhou Feng retreat in terror. Seeing that Shen Xue was no longer under threat, Yang Yi stomped down hard, causing the floor to shatter beneath him. In an instant, he launched himself onto the stage at an alarming speed, leaving only a blur in his wake.

"Ah!"

Zhou Feng's eyes widened in terror as Yang Yi suddenly appeared before him, his figure looming large and imposing.

Swish!

Yang Yi's hand shot out, gripping Zhou Feng by the throat, his entire body emanating a terrifying aura.

The entire audience was stunned. No one had time to react before Yang Yi had already seized Zhou Feng by the neck.

With everyone watching, Yang Yi slowly raised his arm. Zhou Feng, like a fish out of water, struggled and trembled violently. But his efforts were futile. His feet lifted off the ground, his face turned red, and he looked at Yang Yi with a mixture of fear and pleading in his eyes.

“Gurgle… Gurgle…”

Zhou Feng let out hoarse, raspy sounds, as if begging for mercy.

“You beast, how dare you!” The head of the Zhou family bellowed in rage.

“Outrageous!” Lord Jin sprang to his feet, sending the beautiful actress in his lap tumbling to the floor. He glared at Yang Yi, fury and suspicion flaring in his eyes.

Yet Yang Yi ignored their words as if they were mere noise. His grip remained tight on Zhou Feng, but his eyes turned toward Shen Xue, who was sitting on the ground.

“Xue'er, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry!” Yang Yi’s voice was strained, filled with guilt and tenderness.

Tears streamed down Shen Xue’s face, her expression a mixture of disbelief and overwhelming happiness. She shook her head repeatedly, murmuring, “You’re back. You’ve finally come back.”

“Mommy! Waaa!” Little Tiantian was also crying, her arms outstretched, wanting her mother to hold her.

Yang Yi gently set Tiantian down and, stroking her small face, said to Shen Xue, “Mommy, hold her. Daddy’s going to punish the bad guys.”

Shen Xue tightly embraced Tiantian, and hearing Yang Yi’s words, she smiled through her tears, looking at him with a full heart. “I…”

Yang Yi shook his head, interrupting her, “There’s no need to say anything. I’m sorry I was late.”

Shen Xue also shook her head, crying and laughing at the same time.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Tiantian poked her little head out from Shen Xue’s arms and said in her soft voice, “Mommy, don’t cry. Daddy said he will protect us.”

Hearing this, Shen Xue’s tears flowed even more freely, while Yang Yi nodded firmly. “Yes, my darling is right. Daddy will protect Tiantian and Mommy.”

With that, Yang Yi turned his gaze to Zhou Feng, still struggling in his grip. By now, Zhou Feng’s entire body was convulsing, and his face had turned a dark purple, like an eggplant.

Yang Yi smirked coldly, looking at the horrified Zhou family head and Lord Jin. He said coolly, “What’s wrong? Weren’t you so arrogant before? Where’s your domineering attitude now?”

“You beast, how dare you!” The Zhou family head’s anger flared as he watched his son’s plight.

But as soon as he spoke, he saw Zhou Feng’s body, which had been twitching, suddenly go rigid. His eyes widened in panic as he pleaded, “Let him go! Let my son go, and I’ll let you leave!”

Zhou Feng was the most talented of the Zhou family’s younger generation. Even with his poor temperament, he was still the head’s beloved son. How could he watch his son die?

He immediately shouted to the bodyguards below the stage, “Move aside, all of you! Let them go!”

“Heh, old dog, I didn’t expect you to be so clever,” Yang Yi sneered, genuinely surprised that the Zhou family head had some sense.

As he spoke, Yang Yi loosened his grip slightly. With a thud, Zhou Feng fell at his feet, motionless.

The Zhou family head’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, but the next moment, he saw Zhou Feng’s body twitch and heard him cough loudly, which brought him a little relief.

Yang Yi then turned to Shen Xue and said, “Xue’er, let’s go.”

Wiping away her tears, Shen Xue stood up, picked up Tiantian, and began to walk out. However, her high heels and cheongsam made walking difficult.

Seeing this, Yang Yi stepped forward, gently wrapping his arm around her waist to support her. Shen Xue felt the warmth of his touch on her waist and blushed slightly, but she pursed her lips and quickened her pace in silence.

Thus, under the gaze of everyone present, Yang Yi calmly led Shen Xue and Tiantian toward the exit.

Many recalled Yang Yi’s words when he had entered earlier, that he would take the child’s mother with him. Now, it seemed he had indeed accomplished this!

For a moment, the crowd’s eyes held a mixture of complex emotions as they looked at him.

But still, no one believed they could leave so easily. Earlier, they had Zhou Feng as a hostage, making the Zhou family hesitant to act. Now, however, Yang Yi had foolishly let Zhou Feng go. How could they possibly escape?

Some people sneered, thinking Yang Yi had no real intention of killing a member of the Zhou family; otherwise, he wouldn’t have let go at the last moment. Perhaps it was all just for show.

Yet, as these thoughts crossed their minds, Yang Yi, Shen Xue, and Tiantian arrived at the entrance, where Yang Yi suddenly stopped.

The crowd was puzzled until they heard Yang Yi calmly say, “Ying Yi.”

Clack, clack, clack!

A young man in a black suit, expressionless, stepped out of the shadows from outside the door.

Yang Yi spoke lightly, “Take them away.”

Ying Yi bowed slightly, saying nothing as he stepped aside.

But Shen Xue suddenly clutched Yang Yi’s arm, her voice trembling, “Yang Yi, what are you going to do? You fool, you’re trying to leave us behind again…”

Before she could finish, Yang Yi gently placed a finger on her lips, his tone firm as he said, “Never again. You go first, I’ll follow right behind. I won’t leave you again. From now on, we’ll never be apart, facing life and death together. I, Yang Yi, swear it!”

Shen Xue looked at Yang Yi with complicated emotions, but she held onto his arm tightly, saying nothing. Her actions made it clear that wherever he was, she would be there too!

Yang Yi felt torn inside. He had no way to deal with Shen Xue’s stubbornness; she had always been this way since they first got together.

“Daddy, Daddy, Tiantian wants to stay with Daddy and Mommy!” Little Tiantian looked at Yang Yi with wide, pleading eyes, holding onto both Shen Xue and Yang Yi with her tiny hands.

Taking a deep breath, Yang Yi whispered, “Ying Yi.”

Without a sound, Ying Yi’s hand had already struck the back of Shen Xue’s neck. In the next moment, another man with a shaved head, also in a black suit, appeared and, together with Ying Yi, helped Shen Xue and Tiantian into an SUV.

Outside the venue, the ground was littered with the bodies of Zhou family bodyguards, sprawled in every direction.

Watching as Ying Yi and Ying Er drove away with his wife and daughter, Yang Yi’s face still held traces of tenderness.

However, when he turned back to face the people inside the venue, his expression had become cold and indifferent.

“All irrelevant people, leave within five minutes. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
