INTRODUCTION

CHAPTER: 1

“Fourteen years. It had been fourteen years since one of the heirs of hell had been exiled from the kingdom, simply because she was powerless. The king was furious to realize that one of his children could be so weak. He cast her from the kingdom, far into Limbo, left to fend for herself.” The locals gossiped amongst one another; all would tell the story of the biggest disappointment of hell, the fiercest kingdom of all.

Even still, as a royal demon, people feared her. Even if she didn’t have powers, she was still a danger to them. She lived in the dark forest of Limbo, on the outskirts of hell. No one dared to step foot there, as it was filled with criminals and the traps they often set. However, this didn’t seem to bother the demon as she sauntered back to the house she inhabited after being banished here.

She sighed as she remembered the weekly meetings, where she would be forced to speak with the council, to “ensure Limbo’s safety.” Aghhhh, those bitches do nothing when someone is killed by Limbo’s own criminals, but my existence was enough to fuck my privacy and them all! she thought, irritatedly.

She had gone to the city today to get some supplies for brewing a potion. A single, very important potion. She took the small bottle from her pocket and sipped its contents, and a coughing fit ensued. Swiftly covering her mouth, she began to cough even harder. Pulling her hand away, she looked warily at the blood on her palm. Sighing, she continued walking.

She stood in the bathroom, gazing at the mirror; looking herself deeply in the eye. Her bloodied hand lay still on the counter. She suddenly recalled a past confrontation.

“Stop it, El! You're hurting yourself with that!” shouted a voice. It was her only friend in Limbo. They had met only eight years before; he had been alone, just like her.

“I am fine.”

“Can’t you just listen to me?” he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation, and a hint of anger.

“I can’t. I can’t do that with this,” she replied.

“Aghh, fuck off, then,” the half-crystalian half demon spat. With that, he sulked away.

She pulled her mind back from the past, sighing once more and closing her eyes. A lot of things came across the darkness that she wasn’t ready to face yet, and she opened her eyes again quickly. She left the bathroom, picking up the bottle and refilling it with the potion she had just brewed.

I can not mess this up, I’m sorry, she thought sadly. She placed the bottle on the table and left to get ready for the night.
