CHAPTER 2
“Miss, Elyhea, you were seen in the southern part of Limbo, at two thirty-seven, speaking to someone with a mask on. Who were they? And what business did you have with them?” the head counsellor, Oscar demanded.
“You do know what you’re doing is illegal right?” Elyhea drawled, casually playing with her nails.
“We’re doing this to protect the residents of limbo, Miss Elyhea,” Isla replied.
“Well, aren't I one of the residents? I’ve lived here for fourteen years, after all. By law, I’m considered a local. How are you protecting me? The law also states that it is illegal to invade a local's privacy. It doesn't require me to answer any of your questions,” she retorted, glaring at the counsellors.
Even if they were the ones “interviewing” the demon, she was still the one dominating the room, sitting like she owned the place. Unlike the council members, she had no trace of fear in her eyes, while the council did have it in theirs.
“Can you answer the questions this time? It's one of the last times you’ll have to do this. Just cooperate,” said the head counselor, exasperatedly. Elyhea, suddenly intrigued, opened her mouth to say something in return, but quickly placed her hand over it.
“I have to go,” she said, already running out of the council meeting room. She quickly ducked into the bathroom, locking it behind her. She began vomiting- purely blood. She looked up at herself in the mirror, gritting her teeth, she punched the counter. “Agh, why is this happening!?”
She put up her hood and began walking swiftly out of the council building. She knew hiding her face did nothing, as her black and blood-red crystal-tipped wings gave her away immediately.
“Hey!” an approaching voice called, “I knew you wouldn’t come to me, so I decided to come to you- even though we both know I am right,” Daniel said.
“Can you shut up? We’re walking in the middle of the city. No need to give people information they don’t need.”
“Oh come on, Elyhea. Stop being so grumpy. You know, I met someone today! She was so pretty. I thought I would die just looking at her,” he said with dreamy eyes.
“Hm,” she muttered, clearly disinterested.
“I kno- well, I think- she was half-blood fairy and half-angel. She was making rings and giving them to small children. Oh, she was so beautiful, El. She had blood fairy wings, with little lines of white going through them, brown skin, and was wearing a dress,” he continued, unfazed by her lack of interest, “Oh! And she had red eyes like you! Well, except hers looked alive…” He muttered the last part.
Elyhea looked at Daniel with a disgusted look “Very funny. You really did fall hard, huh? Did you even talk to her? Or were you just staring from afar like a stalker?”
“I… tried to go up to her, but-”
“But you were a wimp?” Elyhea finished for him. Daniel rolled his eyes in response.
“Yeah, and when you find someone, you will be too.”
“No, I won’t. My eyes alone are enough to make anyone fall to their knees,” Elyhea replied smugly.
“You sound so sure when you haven’t even dated anyone yet," Daniel teased. With this, Elyhea whipped around to face him.
“I can make you my test subject if you want to know so badly,” she snarled, looking straight into Daniel’s eyes, her own glowing. Daniel, unfazed, simply chuckled at her.
“By using magic?”
“Why not?” she asked, tilting her head.
“It’ll only make a bigger mess of things,” Daniel said, firmly standing his ground.
“How can you be so sure?” Elyhea said, moving her face closer to Daniel's. She, too, was holding her stance.
"I can do this too, El. I am crystalian as well," Daniel said, smirking.
“Yeah, but it’ll wear off for you because of your half-assed spells. Not for me, though,” she sang. Daniel rolled his eyes.
“If I wanted to make her my slave, I would’ve already done it, but that isn’t love. I would be using her. Some day, I'll be fed up with it. But with love, I know I won't be.” eyes glimmering at the thought of it.
“When did you become a lover boy? I thought you dated for the fun of it.” Elyhea said, moving her head back, more disgusted she put her hands back in her pockets and continued walking.

“When I figured, it was leading me to nothing.” he shrugged, following her.
It. Doesn’t lead to shit either, only pain remains She thought
“Hm, were you here to tell me about her?” Elyhea said, going into the dark forest.
“Yes, but I also wanted to talk about your health... I saw you running out of the council meeting room with blood coming out of your hands. Sigh. When will you listen to me?”
“You know, what I am doing is for the best. For everyone.”
“Killing yourself slowly is better for everyone?”
“Yes.”
Quietness filled their presence. Soon, Daniel spoke breaking it “I don’t want…. I don’t want to lose you El. You’re the only Family I have.”
Elyhea stayed quiet and kept walking. Family. What a lame excuse for traders, betrayers. She scoffed. The only “good family” for lack of a better word, was Ruby and Daniel. Everyone else was no one to Elyhea.
“I’ll try to.. think of something else, other than that potion.” she agreed though mentally she knew it was a lie, looking away from Daniel. They had reached Elyhea's house.
Daniel immediately smiled happily and hugged Elyhea “Thank you, big sis.” he said chuckling.
“Yeah, yeah. Now get off of me,” she said after a good minute.
Daniel giggled at that “Can I have a cup of coffee before I go? I have a lot of work to do after.”
“Come in.”
.
.
Elyhea was lying in bed right now. Lost in thoughts of her life, The past came flashing back to her.
“How can you be so? ..so Disgusting Elyhea. You’re a disgrace to both demons and Crystalians. How can it be.
I married your mother specifically for her powers, yet still look how her kids turned out. Pathetic. I guess that’s why she died. She wasn’t the powerful Crystalians I thought of her to be. She was weak. Just like her kids.”
The king said angrily looking at 11-year-old Princess Elyhea. as Prince Ross stood by him. “Look at him. He is powerful even though he is just a royal demon. Too bad, you can’t be as good as him even if you try your hardest. Pathetic idiot. I guess it’s because of him only having my power. Demons were always the most powerful species.”
He chuckled darkly.”Good thing your mother is dead, I would've tortured her. because of her offspring.” “IF Ruby turns out like you, I would kill her right then and there.
If she doesn’t get powers I will make you watch her die in front of you. And IF she does have powers. Then I'll make her day of judgment here. Which you won’t be here to see. As you are not wanted here! Be ready for your new life. ” he giggled.
The king got up from his throne and angrily walked towards little Elyhea. "You take after your mother; weak, frail, and unqualified for royalty!" he hissed.
Grabbing her hand harshly he dragged her out of the throne room. Throwing her on the floor outside of the room and finally before closing the doors in her face. He chuckled "though Even with your mother's spells you're still useless. Just a shameful mistake" spitting on her.
Elyhea sat there on the ground for a while, blankly looking at the door.
How can he be so cruel to me? Am I nothing? She thought
“Ellieee, here you are!! Come play with me. I am bored! I am already done with today's studies and training!” a little girl jumped on Elyhea giggling as she hugged her beloved sister.
Elyhea closed her eyes. Sighing. she looked at her little sister with love-filled eyes and a big smile. “Oh, that's like my baby sis!! Have you eaten?’
“No..” Ruby said slowly. Looking away from Elyhea pouting.
Forgetting her pain, she spoke softly “Come on, let's fill your little tummy. Then we can play ok?” Getting up, holding Ruby's small hand. She started to walk towards the dining room.
“You promise? We’ll play, and you won’t leave me to go training again?” Ruby asked her brown sparkling eyes Filled with hope.
“Yes, I promise. I’ll play with you, ” Elyhea said with a soft, warm smile.
“Yayyyy, then let's hurry up!” Ruby ran while pulling Elyhea with her. Who chuckled at her silliness.
“Hope, you’re fine. Rube, sorry Ellie can’t come to you." Elyhea said, taking a deep breath in an attempt to take the glint of Anger that stained her whole, out. In failure, she closed her eyes.
I have to somehow come up with another potion tomorrow. One, that Daniel believes. She thought.
As she looked at the bottle on the bedside table. She grabbed it. “I can’t let myself lose, no matter what. This potion is the only thing keeping me sane..” she said. Before drinking whatever was left in the bottle. Coughing a little.
“Sorry, Dan,” she said before falling deep into her slumber.
