Chapter 4: The First of Many Battles To Come

The grunts blocked Hoivea, Lux, and Olyzian's path to Prof. Luno and his Pokémon. The grunts pulled out their last Poké Balls before sending out a Starly and a Kalserian Roggenrola (A silvery ice version of a normal Roggenrola with a spherical red gem for an "eye"). A smug grin formed on Olyzian's face, whilst Lux seemed mildly amused.

"Alright, let's do this, Chivaldawn!" Olyzian exclaimed with Chivaldawn triumpently calling out his name and floated in front of Olyzian, ready for battle. Lux glanced at Hoivea, and she gave Lux an apologetic shrug as the sleeping Wisppurr was still firmly attached to her head. Lux sighed as he gave Lilygraph a defeated look.

"Looks like it's up to us, Lilygraph," Lux remarked. Lilygraph reluctantly nodded as she unwrapped her vines from Lux and hopped down next to Chivaldawn to battle alongside him.

"Alright, Chivaldawn; use Whiplash on the Starly!" Olyzian instructed. Chivaldawn zipped through the air for Starly before it spun around and smacked Starly in the face with the flat side of his tail-tip blade. Starly spun in the air before crashing into the ground as Chivaldawn flew back to his original position in front of Olyzian.

"Lilygraph, Ivy Prod if you would," Lux requested. Lilygraph held out two of her tendrils outwards and hurled them at the grunts' Pokemon. Lilygraph's tendrils poked the grunts' Pokemon's forehead, causing some powder to fall on the Pokemons' eyes before she quickly retracted them as the opponents' eyes watered up and the rims of Starly's eyes turned slightly red.

Starly's grunt trainer gritted his teeth as Starly stumbled to its feet and tried to rub its eyes with its foot to no avail. Starly's trainer ordered it to use Cut on Chivaldawn. Starly squinted its eyes to try to spot Chivaldawn, but due to having its vision hampered by the effects of Ivy Prod and the swamp's ambient veil of smog, Starly had a hard time locating Chivaldawn.

Starly spotted a blurry worm-shaped object in front of them and flailed one of its wings in front of it. Chivaldawn remained perfectly still as the Starly's wing completely missed him. The K.Roggenrola's grunt trainer glanced over at the Starly's trainer and whispered to him.

"I don't think these two aren't cut out for battles, Shawn," K.Roggenrola's trainer said. Shawn (Starly's trainer) panned his head at K.Roggenrola's trainer and groaned.

"You have some nerves making puns at me, Kaleb," Shawn snarked before they heard a thud. The grunt duo looked back at the battle to see K.Roggenrola had used the Roll Move but ended up missing and striking Starly before both of them fainted.

"This is a certified bruh moment," a cheerful girly voice remarked. Lux and Olyzian looked back in the direction of the girly voice to see Hoivea staring straight upward.

"They really need to stop with such old internet lingo," Hoivea remarked at the trail of sparkly particles in the sky.

"Why did that guy's Pokemon attack on its own without a command?" Lux asked as he leant towards Hoivea.

"The Kalserian Roggenrola must have gotten affected by one of Luta-Mosia's Moves... I suppose," Hoivea replied as Olyzian placed her hands on her hips.

"Yeah, as if we'd run into a legendary on our first day as Pokemon Trainers," Olyzian snarkily said, causing Hoivea to chuckle nervously.

"I mean you lot have already been in the presence of three already if we count Luta-Mosia," Luno remarked, causing the Olyzian and Lux to huh in unison whilst the tiny Vennola yawned and retreated back into Luno's hair. Luno strolled past Shawn and Kaleb; they quickly picked up their fainted Pokemon and rushed back to their commander. Their commander quickly gave max revives to the two largest Staraptors before she climbed onto the back of one of them and ordered her grunts to get on.

"Tell the munchkin if she wants to get my attention, she should do it in person next time," Luno remarked. He watched as the grunts climbed onto the back of the large Staraptors before the Staraptors took off and flew away. Luno exhaled from his nose and turned to K.Gallade.

"Can you can take Nova and Luna back to town?" Luno said. K.Gallade raised an eyebrow with concern but agreed. K.Gallage picked up Nova and Luna before taking off and flying in the direction of Neumaken Town. The trainer trio stood before Luno while Chivaldawn and Lilyguard sat on their trainers' shoulders.

"What do you mean we've already been in the presence of three legendaries, Professor?" Olyzian uttered as she looked around. Luno chuckled and rubbed his chin.

"You'll know once you check your... shoot I still need to give you your pokedexes don't I, and also that other thing now that I think about it," Luno remarked.

"Other thing?" the three asked in unison as Luno nodded. Luno mentioned he'd show them once they'd returned to his lab. The trio nodded and swiftly sprinted off back down the wooden bridge trail. Luno amusedly sighed and glanced behind himself to see a pair of giant oval-shaped pure white lights deep in the opaque swampy water. Luno nervously chuckled and lightly waved at the lights in the water as they narrowed into a narrow glare.

"My bad for letting them disturb your rest; I'll make sure it doesn't happen again to the best of my abilities," Luno remarked. The pair of lights dimmed down before completely fading deeper into the swampy water. Luno slumped his head, letting out a relieved exhale and rubbed the three faded streaks in his hair.

"Come on, Father, if you don't hurry up, I'll get Nova and Luna to help us find the things!" Hoivea shouted from far away, making Luno chuckle before he began walking towards the trainer trio.
