After a few days living with Ana and Guardy I couldn’t help but notice the fact that I never saw her in her not Mega-evolved form.
“So… How is Guardy Mega-evolved for such a long time? Doesn’t Mega evolution have a time limit?” I asked while I had a break from training.
“Normally yes. It has quite a long story, but I think you have a right to know. We were once, in our prime an Ace team. We were arguably on elite 4 level, I was planning to challenge Darach, he was at the time a Dragon-type elite 4 member. Nowadays he’s retired but at the time he was my target. All of that changed when I was exploring deep inside Mt Coronet. I stumbled upon a ruin, quite literally. I fell down a sinkhole and Charly my Whimsicott softened my fall and saved me from a lot of damage.
He was the first to die.” She said with tears in her eye.
I was shocked at that, normally Pokémon don’t kill each other they just take the excess energy and let them go, because if they live they can be beaten again.
“We were overwhelmed by Palossands, there were thousands of them. Even though they are not native to Sinnoh ghost Pokémon are known for spawning irregularly. You could find every ghost type in Sinnoh, except legendarys. They just tend to flock together. Charly was the only one outside his ball at the time. They overwhelmed him almost instantly he fought valiantly but it wasn’t enough… before I managed to release my other friends his vitality was drained. We fought for 6 days straight. the ghost energy prevented us from teleporting away so we had to fight. Every time we tried to run away they closed the caves faster then we could break them. At some point It was only Guardy and I. Just before all our vitality could be drained she managed to turn Teleport to fairy-type thanks to her pixilate ability, a feat that saved our lives. From my team of 8 only she survived and since that week her mega-evolution was permanent.”
As she began telling her story I started hugging her. I can’t imagine the pain she must have felt but then I realized it, her vitality has been drained… that can’t be good. I didn’t know what to say so I just kept hugged her.
After she calmed down, she started talking again “We survived the battle but not without damage. We have at most 8 years to live.”
“I… we have to do something! Technology here is amazing there has to be something we can-” She interrupted before I could talk more.
“There is nothing, I tried. I already made peace with my death. I know it is not fair to you and I know it will hurt a lot, but I wish to see my friends again.”
The only reason why I didn’t start pleading with her was the fact I felt her emotions, she showed them to me and as much as it hurt I understand how she felt.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
After 20 minutes of silence Guardy appeared in a flash with something in her hand, it was covered with cloth so I didn’t see what it was.
I felt a mental probing. She wanted to communicate with me so I allowed her access to my mind, not that she wasn’t able to just force her way in. She was just being polite. Communicating with her is weird. She doesn’t only talk she also emits feelings and pictures. It is a very efficient way of communicating, there are almost no misunderstandings. It works thanks to her ability telepathy unlike the games Pokémon can have multiple abilities, you just have to train them.
While she talked she gave me the cloth covered bundle and I realized what it was. Her Egg
“Are you sure I should raise them? I- .“ I asked but before I could finish she interrupted my
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me this much.” I tried to send my gratitude the same way she sends her emotions and I think it is working given her wide smile. She nods and walks toward Ana.
Morgana started talking, clearly in a better mood that before: “Guess that means your egg caring lesson needs to start now.”
“Yes please.” I answered.
“I still have an incubator lying around somewhere, Guardy be a dear and fetch it please. The incubator will be filled with a liquid similar to a potion. You will have to change it trice a day. Don’t leave the egg in there the entire day.
You should hold it for at least 3 hours a day, fairy eggs need a lot more care then other types given the fact they grow stronger with more emotions directed towards them. That’s the thing about fairy Pokémon, Rock types get stronger with more minerals in the rocks they eat, fire types get stronger the more heat they can tolerate, dragons get stronger when more fear and respect them, but fairies get stronger the more emotions are directed towards them, that’s what makes them special. Have you ever wondered why fairy Pokémon are so diverse? Some are just cute like Alcremie, some play with expectations such as Azumarill, no one expects such a small thing to send an Onix flying on and some are cruel beyond compare all for the purpose of causing strong emotions. You have an advantage, your aura is already attuned with fairy energy so the Ralts in the egg can easily feast on your emotions, It gets easier for them when having physical contact with you so that’s why you should hold it. Thanks to your advantage they will probably hatch soon.”
And so my daily routine changed, I spent every waking moment with the Egg, when I was being taught, trained and relaxed. It was in the same room even when I showered so. After a week and 2 days the egg started shaking. Every hour it started shaking more and stronger. Once the shaking was just 2 minutes apart I took the egg out of the incubator and shouted for Ana and Guardy to come watch them hatch.
From the room next door I heard Ana shout: “Only you should be present when it hatches. It will form a stronger bond that way, I will be ready with a towel once you get familiar.”
I kind off panic a little bit when the egg started cracking but then I realized that that is in fact supposed to happen. The cracks started to spread and just as they were about to meet the egg exploded in a pink light and I heard and felt the most beautiful shout in the world
“RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLTTS!”
