Chapter 52 -Rude

(A/N): IGNORE IT - THIS FOR THE 2.5 STAR REVIEWER( I don't know why I think mentioning his name would be rude, so no names!)

Dear, Reader. If you are reading this, can you elaborate the issues you highlighted in your review, I think it will help me. And in return for your time I will give you my ...thanks.

I thought almost everything related to MC is revealed in last chap. How was I baiting?( Do you guys agree with him?- Yes, you people you were told to ignore this note(jk).)

As I want to improve my skills, I keep an eye on every comment and review. So, feedback is encouraged, especially if it is constructive.

I quietly digested the massive info dump that I desperately wanted.

“So, Will I be getting a new companion?” I asked. I did quite splendidly in all the rounds If I say so myself.

“Yes, but don’t tell anyone as officially we are still analysing every trainer's performance. Some of us like to be quite thorough and for a good reason, not every trainer has your monstrous talent after all. You will get your new companion two weeks from now,” Xatu said cupping something with her wings.

“Can I know who is going to be my future teammate?”

“Sure, no reason to delay,” Xatu muttered.

‘Wow, what happened to her earlier flair for drama,’ I wondered.

Xatu looked quite off-put about something. She parted her wings revealing an adorable Natu, who looked surprised to be here, before letting an odd squeak on noticing me.

“Awesome! We are going to be a great team,” I proclaimed with stars in my eyes.

Psychic and flying Pokemon are rare, so I was excited to have a Natu in my team, that too a Natu with an egg move.

The Natu shied away from my intense stare before disappearing by teleporting.

“Don’t let her potential go to waste,” Xatu said with a heavy voice.

I wanted to ask why I couldn't bring her along at that moment, but her heavy tone even cut through my dense brain, making me decide it was a bad idea.

So instead, I tried to lighten the mood.

“Of course, she will be more powerful than you in no time,” I spoke in a serious tone giving a teasing smirk at the end.

The Xatu giggled before teleporting in front of me to pat my head.

“She better be. After all, she is the daughter of the Ever-Present winds eye,” The Xatu said proudly.

I cracked a grin at that.

“Wait! Wasn’t your title something different?”

“*cough* My greatness can’t be described with a single title. It is time to depart,” The Xatu spoke hastily waving her wing.

As the surroundings fell apart, I couldn’t help but wonder.

‘Aren’t Psychic Pokemon supposed to have a good memory or was she trying to lighten the mood?’

I couldn’t continue my thoughts as I appeared before the main camp’s entrance, 2M away from two blue-haired people who appeared to be having a deep conversation.

They both turned to stare at me as I appeared near them out of nowhere.

“Hello, Leo! How was the last round?” Madlyn asked still not meeting my eyes.

“It was good,” I replied observing the man accompanying Madlyn.

He has what people call a swimmer’s physique.

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

He wore shorts that covered his knees and a faded blue t-shirt. The only thing that distinguishes him from a typical suburb dad is his piercing stare which made me feel I was being weighed down by something.

“So, you are the guy that helped Maddy?” he asked evaluating me.

“You don’t look like much.”

“DAD!” Madlyn shouted lightly, making her dad look at her in surprise.

“Don’t harass my friends. I will tell Mom,” Madlyn said with a slight blush due to her earlier outburst.

“I will see you guys later,” I said, trying to escape and somewhat freaked out by the extra weight I was experiencing like something heavy was pressing me down.

‘That damn Xatu, why do I feel like she did this on purpose.’

Madlyn nodded her head still not meeting my eyes.

Her father noticed her odd behaviour before a frown decorated his face.

“YOU! What is your intention with my daughter?” he asked with a deep tone, as I was walking away from them.

The slight weight I was feeling multiplied exponentially before bearing down on me, making me stumble.

I felt like an ancient deep-sea predator was staring at me, from the ocean depths, deciding if it should swallow me whole.

I awkwardly turned back to face him, the weight bearing down on me making any movement difficult.

“Dad!”

“Shh! Not now” The man hugged Madlyn to his chest, muting her following words and spoke.

“Answer me!” The weight on me increased making me incensed at his behaviour.

“I don’t know!” I yelled at him and with a sudden display of power and cowardice, I ran away ignoring the weight which previously made any simple movement difficult.

As I ran towards the camp, I heard Madlyn yelling things like, ‘You are too nosy,’ ‘Nothing happened’.

‘God damn it, Can’t I catch a break?’

“Leo! Come here!” Amanda was waving at me standing beside a bald old man with a white moustache wearing a lab coat.

The old man introduced himself.

“I am Dr. Blaine; my granddaughter here thinks you are talented. Are you?” he asked.

‘Right to the chase and here I thought I don’t have manners. Why are these old people so rude?’ I nodded absentmindedly, as Amanda lightly nudged him.

“Splendid! Here, take a look at this,’ he said passing me a tablet.

“I am giving you a basic sponsorship and before you answer, just look through the tablet. You get to choose any one service or item at the basic level.”

Seeing Amanda urging me to listen to her grandfather’s words, I reluctantly browsed through the tablet.

‘Habitats’

‘Items’

‘Rooms’

The tablet had many sections displayed on it.

Curious, I pressed ‘Habitats’.

‘Hmm! It seems I can choose habitats like, meadow, beach, volcano etc for my 7th Pokemon.’

Seeing it was useless for me, I pressed ‘rooms’ ignoring Items as I had an idea about it.

‘Nexus- Ice’

‘Nexus- Wind’

The options were numerous, my earlier reluctance disappeared as I browsed through the insane options.

My breath hitched on seeing one option.

‘Nexus-Gravity’

Gravity room was a common trope in the animes and fanfic with the tailed warrior race making use of them and quite several Pokemon fanfics used gravity to make their Pokemon OP. I researched the feasibility of gravity training using Clefairy when I was formulating plans for Cet’s exercises.

But a Zubat with six packs was not meant to be as Gravity is an energy-intensive move like hyper beam. And the standard time the gravity persists is about 5 to 10 seconds.

I mean it makes sense the move was nerfed as that move can even bring Dragons to their knees, not to mention Flying Pokemon like Pidgeot whose land mobility is so atrocious that 5 seconds are more than enough to send them packing.

After all, even a second delay can turn battles around not to mention 5 seconds.

“I want to choose this,” I said pointing to the gravity room.

“Nice choice, boy. Maybe you are not just a pretty face.” He mumbled the second half in a lower voice, but I heard him and it seemed Amanda did too as she elbowed him in the chest, with quite a force this time.

He sputtered, ignoring Amanda.

“Anyway! Decide upon a time when you want to be teleported to the Nexus facility, you can use the facility only one time per day. I suggest using it before going to sleep. Any questions? If not, we will meet again,” he said shooing me away with his hands to which Amanda elbowed him again, making him cough.

“This girl is going to be the death of me,” he mumbled, making Amanda smirk at him.

I wanted to get angry at his behaviour, but I didn’t want my ego to come in the way of my training. Some mumbled words are nothing.

My will is strong like a diamond.. I was not at all satisfied each time Amanda elbowed him.. no sir, not me!

“What should I do if I want to increase the level of my sponsorship?” I asked.

“Good! Ambitious! Everyone I sponsor starts at the same level kid, but I only sponsor trainers with at least 3 badges and you have to complete some missions to advance.” He tweaked his white moustache in thought.

“Tell you what, earn your second badge first, and then I will allow you to accept the missions.”

I nodded my head, quite pleased.

“So, how was your last round?” Amanda asked imitating the shooing gestures Blaine did before, making him walk away, muttering.

“Kids these days, no respect at all. Throwing away their elders after using them.”

“It was awesome!”

I regaled my heroics, of how I valiantly escaped a pack of Fea*cough* Spearows and how grass Pokemon were afraid of seeing my shadow as I flew above them… I mean that’s why they used bullet seeds on me …right?

After one or two ‘I am not stupid’ looks from Amanda I stopped my exaggerations and finished my valiant tale.

“I am so jealous. Do you want to battle before we part ways?” Amanda asked with an excited glint in her eyes.

“Yes, but let me talk with Celia first,” I said looking at Celia who was motioning me towards her with a frown on her face.

“No time, girly. Maybe next time” The old man sneaked on us and disappeared together with Amanda.

‘Damn, I didn’t even get to see which Pokemon teleported them.’

And I was looking forward to battle Amanda’s Larvesta.

‘Next time it is,’ I walked towards Celia, mumbling.
