I divided my day into three parts: dawn and dusk for intensive training and the remaining day me and my pokemon travel, enjoying nature and battling wild Pokemon, rarely. Except during lunch break when Cet and Nia do some additional training while I cook for them.
Even though Pokemon love to battle and train, repeating the same thing for a long time makes them bored too, thus I allocated the training time in sync with our journey, so as not to waste time.
Most of the wild Pokemon leave after trading a move or two, the ones that fight longer are rarer. But they give rise to a different type of headache, as I have to give them some berries to help them recover.
Cet follows them, dropping berries on them, if they run too quickly.
Even though I am poor, I don’t want to hinder determined Pokemon's progress because I didn’t want to part with some food.
Cet and Nia practice Mega Drain and Agility, respectively, in the evening and the morning is allocated for Double Team, for both Pokemon.
Cet is going to learn the Mega drain in 3 days seeing the speed of his progress.
So, Cet will have extra time giving time for learning the Double Team. Only after he learns the Double team move, does my main reason for buying the TM come into play; apart from it being a versatile move, of course.
……
Three days went by and Cet became proficient in using Mega Drain. Nia was very helpful, as Cet required a target to practice Mega Drain, which was hard to come by apart from the odd wild Pokemon.
On the fourth day after I left Celadon, I reached the town, where I could pick up my custom-ordered games.
The town’s, or I should call it a fort, perimeter was ten times smaller than the city I started in. I walked towards the gate indicated on the map, before getting stopped by a guard who had just teleported in front of me with a towering Exeggutor beside him.
“Hello! This is a private compound of clan Reich, state your purpose,” He asked smiling.
“A package for me will be delivered here,” I said confused, hearing about this place being a private compound for the first time.
He asked for my details and after noting them down, he teleported, making me wonder what to do.
Just as I was about to move towards the walls, he teleported back, holding a package.
I took the package from him and verified the contents.
“So, Is the public allowed in there?” I asked.
“Of course, we don’t send away any travellers looking for rest or supplies. Do you want to come inside?” he asked.
“I am good, thanks!” I said before turning away, keeping an eye on him.
Any Pokedex has inbuilt security features aimed towards monitoring a trainer's surroundings, not a visual one, and it was recommended to keep this feature on while travelling.
This feature effectively reduces any danger meeting strangers in the wild entails.
Shaking my head at this clan’s antics, I thought.
‘Wasn’t Celia’s last name Reich?’
I checked my battle logs and indeed it was.
The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
I mean I knew Celia was rich, but to maintain a fort or town this near to a big city like Celadon makes it a big target in the ‘Dark’ month, and takes tons of money, not even considering the building costs and displacement of local Pokemon.
Deciding to question Celia about it later, I resumed my journey looking forward to letting my Pokemon use their games.
……
I turned around a curve coming face to face with a Farfetch’d.
It stood in our way holding its thin leak like a sword. As it noticed us, the Farfetch'd pointed its stalk at Cet who was flying in front of me.
Unlike Nia, who was in my hold, Cet doesn’t rest for more than a minute.
Deciding to humour the Farfetch’d, I called out a command letting Cet know it was time for battle.
The Pokemons called out their names and the normal-flying type bird started running towards Cet.
Cet unlike what his personality indicates took to the skies and used Gust, the gales clipped the Farfetched, but it dodged the attack while using its leek as a shield.
‘Hmm,’ I suddenly got an idea on seeing the Farfetch’d’s leek.
“Cet move in and stay,” I called out.
Cet dived right into the Fartech’d’s face using Astonish, making it pause.
‘Naughty, but intelligent,’ I thought seeing Cet use Astonish, I guess battling wild Pokemon on his own helped him learn something after all.
The Farfetch’d was not affected by astonish but it was surprised, giving Cet a chance to get Mega Drain in.
The Duck started wildly swinging its leek trying to hit Cet.
Cet for his part obeyed my commands and stayed close to the duck Pokemon, wildly looping around the Duck, making it work to hit him.
The stalemate continued, I let it be deciding it was good training for Cet.
The Farfetch’d got in a hit or two, but Cet came right back in and continued dodging.
‘The Farfetch’d is using Cut,’ I noted observing the heaving Pokemon.
Cet looked tired too, but his excitement at playing a new game suppressed his tiredness.
The Farfetch’d used Sand attack, tired of swinging its leek around.
Cet the puppy bat took the chance and ended the match with a Brave Bird as the Duck got stuck in the dust cloud it kicked up.
I ran towards the Farfetch’d spraying a potion on it and jumped back immediately.
The Duck Pokemon stirred and ran away after giving Cet a look.
That day evening, I took out the costly toys.
For Cet, it was a device that throws different shaped objects into the air.
The shape indicates the timing the Zubat is supposed to catch the objects whether in their ascent or descent, not at all or anywhere.
The objects that are supposed to be caught in ascent are shaped as arrows coming out of a wooden plate or beam(<-I), in descent they are shaped as arrows stuck to a wooden plate or beam(->I), objects with arrows(<->) on both ends can be caught at any time and pure blocks(I) are to be dropped.
The number of arrows indicates the time Cet has to wait before he is allowed to touch them.
If Cet catches the projected object at the right time the device opens itself to give him a treat.
I decided to start today by teaching him about two shapes and to increase their complexity slowly.
The device can even shoot two or more objects making Cet choose which object he has to catch first to not let anything hit the ground while still following the instructions the shape indicates.
I was proud of this idea as I incorporated Cet’s love of flying, chasing and eating tasty treats into one thing.
After doing some trial runs until Cet understood the meaning behind the few shapes, I let him play and took out Nia’s device.
I kept the device in front of a tree and called Nia to stand in front of it.
The device had a screen and it started playing a video, showing a duck outline pressing red bubbles with its wings.
The video ended and red bubbles appeared on the screen with a timer running down, but Nia just stared at them.
The timer ran out with a ding and water got sprayed on Nia’s face.
The affronted look she gave at the device was very funny, it was hard for me to suppress my laughs.
‘Nia is so expressive, sometimes I think she is going to become an awakened faster than Cet,’ I thought looking at the Ducklett, who was intensely staring at the screen and pressing red bubbles when they appeared. Nia’s device just gives her increasingly tough tasks, like children’s brain teasers but specially designed for the Ducklett. This was a standard device for both Pokemon and human children and came along with a treat dispenser to which I just added the water hose to keep Nia interested and made the aptitude questions to suit a water-flying type Pokemon.
Generally, a Pokemon that is with the trainer for longer develops sapience faster, but the reason some Pokemon develop their sapience faster when compared to others always leads to trainers. The Pokenet is full of do’s and don’ts for this but I think the Aura is the main deciding factor, it certainly explains why wild elites give away their children to human trainers instead of teaching them mental exercises.
I took away both the devices from my Pokemon as darkness covered the forest, to which they both protested in the form of clinging to them, but I was firm.
We slept for the day, not noticing a Farfetch’d observing us from a distance.
