BK1; Chapter 20: [ A strange phenomenon ]

The three-eyed spotted deer saw Rain’s figure with his flame covered arm and was immediately alarmed.

It quickly opened its mouth to once again attack with its sound blade but as it was too slow, Rain was already in front of it.

Rain’s fist smashed heavily onto the head of the Three-eyed spotted deer.

“Eat this!!!”

As the echoes of the inward shout faded, a huge flame caused the spotted deer to whimper as its body was ruthlessly swept for over ten meters across the ground before finally smashing into a tree trunk.

Everything fell within Rain’s predictions. The spotted deer convulsed for a few times and tried to jump away from its position and escape, but the last jump was also its last dance step; it spun in the air then fell back on its back.

It’s four limbs stiffened as it tried to fight back before eventually, unwillingly softening in defeat.

The blood kept oozing out from the mandible and it was twitching involuntarily. It was dying.

With the soles of his feet stepped heavily on the ground, Rain let out a long sigh. Having stayed in a creeping position for a long time, his arms and legs had become slightly numb.

Hm? At this moment, Rain felt something painful.

Looking down, he found his left leg was covered in blood.

Wha-!?

The extreme sensation flooded his body and mind.

He was actually injured?! When?

As they always say, when humans were in an intense fight, their epinephrine accelerated. They often wouldn’t be able to feel the pain until everything wrapped up.

And now, after seeing his prey became lifeless, Rain had loosened his taut nerves completely. Because of this, the pain that had been repressed came back to him violently—his attention was directed away when he was battling with the spotted deer, but he was relaxed now.

No way at that time?!

Since the beginning of the fight?!

The intense burning pain came from his leg, making him scream hopelessly.

Thankfully, this was just a game. The pain reception rate was at most at the lowest percentage, if not he would have already fainted from pain.

However, as experiencing such pain for the first time, Rain couldn’t help but feel shock and frightened causing him to overreact a little bit.

“Ah——-!” This sudden pain caused him to scream and his scream was shrill.

Rain felt as if someone had cut his leg off.

“Screee!?”

Hearing his scream, the spider hiding from somewhere immediately rushed towards him.

During hunting, Rain always asked the spider to hide somewhere and will only come out if he was really in danger.

“Scree?!” The spider cried anxiously after she saw he was suffering.

“I…I’m fine!” Rain immediately took a pink colored bottle from his waist and drank it.

Instantly the pain receded after a Lipovitan-like taste spreading inside his mouth, and like magic, the cut on his leg slowly close up.

Seeing this, Rain finally breathe a sigh of relief. Although he had [ Self-Regeneration ] ability but it wouldn’t be able to instantly heal his wound and he doesn’t want to endure a pain like that even a second.

Carefully patting his leg which was now healing in an incredible rate, he slowly stood up and gently stretched it.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“Sorry for making you worried.” Rain said towards the spider while gently stroking its head.

“Scree”

“Hm, thanks.”

Twisting his head about, he quickly walked up and drawing the small dagger from his waist, he cut the spotted deer’s head open.

Suddenly, a tiny pale purple crystal appeared before his eyes.

“Another one~”

Rain gazed happily at monster core. Soon after he happily extracted it, not caring even the slightest about the blood and gore he cleaned it against his clothes.

At this moment,

Rumble!

The ground suddenly began to shake ever so slightly. Based on the rumbling rhythm, Rain surmised that it should’ve been caused by something walking or worst case… fighting!

Tap!

“—Hmm? It’s raining?”

Raising his head to look at the sky, Rain suddenly found the sky darkens.

Soon grey clouds appeared and covered the sky like a heavy curtain.

“Raining? No, that’s not it.”

The birds and flying beasts in the sky disappeared! I’m sure there were a lot flying before!

Rain’s head was filled with doubts and he felt extremely baffled. This place is usually exuberant, yet it is so quiet, not even a bird could be seen.

Black and thunderous clouds roiled about, blocking off all sunlight. A darkness that resembled a curtain of death fell down. With a flash, a dense and frightening aura began to fill the air.

Within the turbulent, black, and death-like clouds, bloody waves soared everywhere, emitting a violent and gorgeous red flair from within the black clouds.

The Heavens and the Earth were deathly quiet, creating a frightening atmosphere. Not a sound could be heard, not a movement could be seen.

No, this situation … is it happening again?!

Just as Rain realized this, a ‘BOOM!’ sound could be heard from somewhere.

BOOM!

BANG!

It was then followed by terrifying explosions followed out by horrifying roars.

“Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!”

……At this moment, waves of rumbling sounds could be heard from the forest, and the oppressive noise was directly transmitted to Rain’s ears.

When he turned his head to assess the situation, his complexion immediately paled. All the colors on his face seemingly drained out. It was pale as a sheet of paper!

Usually, there would be roars of beasts and monsters within the depths of the forest that could be heard from time to time.

Just as it signifies, this is forest was really not a ‘Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss’ but should be called ‘A den of Monsters’!

Rain had already known of this ever since the beginning. He accepted it and even welcomes it; however, a few days ago he realized that he still hasn’t experience real terror yet.

Although he doesn’t know what kind of monsters caused this commotion but this kind of thing happens sometimes inside the deepest part of the forest.

Somewhere in the forest, there would be terrifying roars one after another, causing everything in its vicinity to shake violently.

It was mighty! It was extraordinarily earth-shattering!

…At the same time scary!

Rain couldn’t be helped but be shaken to his core. As expected, this forest was not that simple!

Even though there was still a long distance between him and the ones who caused this roars, Rain could already feel bitter waves of demonic aura. Who knew how many monsters and creatures had already fallen prey to this terrifying monster!

Besides a terrible wave of danger surges whenever he tried to walked towards the sound, so he can’t move forward. What is there; what kind of monsters possesses this kind of danger?

His sense of danger warns him to not proceed forward; there is only a dead end, even if he had 10 lives he would still die.

Rain was very rational. He got up to his feet, fixed everything up and immediately turned around. As they say, ‘Curiosity kills the cat.’ And he certainly doesn’t want to be the Cat!

“Sister spider, let’s leave!”

“Scree.”

Together with the giant spider, Rain returned to the cave immediately.

The next few days will be an incomparably dangerous period!

Louise silently walked into Rain’s room without permission.

She just finished playing [ Philippine Lore ] inside her room a while ago. Her class was a warrior.

Although compared to someone abnormal, she can’t yet be called an expert. However, she was still confident to be rank among the average players inside the game.

Lv2 and almost approaching Lv3.

Her first death experience almost gave her some trauma but she still hold up after seeing her childhood friend’s enjoyment. She doesn’t want to be left alone so she persisted and finally after several deaths inside the game, she managed to kill a monster.

As they say, ‘Once bitten, twice shy’. After experiencing her death, she became even more cautious from her surroundings and uses all the things she could use to survive.

Ambush, hit and run tactic, and laying traps. She did all she could to win. And finally all her efforts pay up as she finally managed to level up to 2.

She was doing fine until some tiny bastards showed up while she was aimlessly wandering around. Although she couldn’t see the attackers, she still knows who they are by the game system’s help.

[ Laman Lupa ]

[ Laman Lupa ] or Gnome in English. They are invisible little people who own the land and can only be used by persons only under certain conditions. They lives in communities, follows human trails out of hills,  receives offerings before and after planting & harvest, partakes of proficiency gifts from humans.

However, sometimes this little people can be mischievous and scary at times. They liked playing pranks on people they met and when angered, can kill without mercy.

Louise has no idea why she was suddenly attacked by them and because she was caught off guard, she was immediately killed.

In [ Philippine Lore ] when a Lv0 player dies, he wouldn’t suffer any consequences but it was different for a player who reached Lv1 and above as 20% experience points will be reduced once they died.

Although 20% seemed little and insignificant but this was still painful for the players. Imagine 20% of your effort has been lost just like that and besides, leveling in this game was really hard and arduous.

However, what’s done is done. Louise is not the type to linger in the past. There is no use to cry over a spilled milk might as well drink a coffee instead~
