"We 'ave solved the problem with why zee teacher didn't count your homework as ours," Laetita hissed with delight. "Your homework still had your handwriting on eet."
Mena started clapping in circles with an unamused expression on her face. Laetitia and Marie scratched their chins in confusion, but the wily eyed daughter of the reaper smirked. "What is zat peasant doing?!" Marie shrieked.
"A round of applause," Janus giggled. "For figuring that out on your own."
"Eureka! I get eet" the dark haired Marie said, but her silver haired sister bonked her on the noggin.
"Janus!" the silver haired bougelf growled. "Oo's side are you on?!"
Mena giggled and tried to disguise her mirth with her hands. "I like how you're angry at Janus, but you hit your sister instead."
"Zat's because," Laetita began. "I'm afraid of Janus!"
Mena and Janus both laughed, but when they met each other's gaze, they glared at each other instead. "I'm still on your side, elfies!" Janus said, "Mena ain't worth the dust from a decomposed cadaver."
Mena growled. "Well you ain't worth the dermis off my skin cells deadie!"
"Good!" Laetitia said, "Now listen closely, peasant. You are to tell us the answers for our homework so we can hand it in to zat fishhead of a teacha!"
"Or," Marie grinned evilly. "You will be on zee sitting end of zee reaper's blade."
Janus skillfully brandished her weapon, making a curving arc accompanied by a graceful twirl. "You heard the elfies! Surrender your homework!"
"Stop calling us that," Laetita shouted.
"I kinda like it," the dark haired Marie said, flashing two peace signs. "It's what you'd call a photo when elves take it themselves. An elfie!"
Laetitia bonked Marie on the head again, but their brawling was interrupted. The door to Caligari's dungeon creaked open, scaring the trio of troublemakers. Caligari shot a hostile glare at them. "What's going on?" she asked.
"Certainly not bullying," Laetita grinned pretending there was a halo atop her head. "Especially towards zis peasant."
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Mena was about to tell Caligari everything when suddenly she noticed the gleam of the reaper's blade pointed directly at her. Janus casually hid it behind her back when Caligari glared at her.
"No pointy objects in the hallway!" Caligari declared. "Or else detention for all four of you!"
Marie muttered. "My ears are pointy."
Caligari rolled her eyes and petitioned to the heavens over Marie's stupidity. "Dream goddess, save me from these nightmares. Now all four of you. Get or you'll be using your toothbrush to wipe the mildew and foot fungus off my dungeon floor!"
She closed the door again and the silver haired Laetitia gritted her teeth. "You've won this one, peasant, but we fully expect you to help us do Scalia's homework. And now zat we got the muscle, we can pull it off!"
The trio of troublemakers shuffled down the hallway, with Marie shuffling backwards pointing her fingers between hers and Mena's before she accidentally bumped into the dungeon wall. She then hurried after her sister and Janus.
Mena shrugged her shoulders. "Miserable magicaps. The amount of trouble they go through with this. It's easier to simply do the homework."
As Mena walked back to her dorm, her mind wasn't focused on the terrible trio (even if the giggles she shared with Janus meant she wasn't on fully bad terms with the pixie reaper) but rather the dream she'd have that night. She had another chance at grabbing the dream fish, but she might have to face a nightcreeper worse than the Janus-fish. She shuddered to think what would come next from the abyss of her nightmares.
Dinner passed, and Mena spent the rest of her night relaxing. May was respectful to her, and offered her some warm milk 'like mummy made' before bed.'
"It makes for peaceful slumbers!" her round-faced friend said and handed it to Mena.
Mena was a bit lactose intolerant, but one cup of magic milk could probably help her sleep like a baby. Maybe her nightmares wouldn't come on so harshly tonight with some soothing lactate to help her!
In her purple unicornia snuggle, she sipped the velvety beverage before lying backwards. "Wowie zowie!" she exclaimed. "This is sooooo good! Like how Deidre used to make at her ranch!"
She remembered her caretaker fondly. The belle in the floppy sunhat and verdant sundress always made her feel amazing when she was still alive. Sadly, she had been taken by Anguish.
Mena lay back on her back. "Thank you May! I'm ready to sleep the sleep of a goddess!"
"No problemo!" May said as she did a bellyflop on her bed "It's helped me keep strong while mummy is still in the Nightmare Void along with everyone else!"
"Bring on those dreams!" Mena shouted, boxing in the air. "I'm ready to handle anything they can throw at me! Like my teeth, I'm all braced and ready to go!"
As soon as the lights went out, Mena slipped peacefully into her dreams. But what she encountered on her dream island was like nothing she had never encountered before. The sea was composed of a creamy, white substance that lapped at the soil on her island. Mena had a hunch about what it was, but when she dipped her finger in the waves and licked her hand, it confirmed her suspicion. "Miserable magicaps!" Mena exclaimed. "I guess I shouldn't have drank that warm milk before bed!"
