Chapter 20

LANGLEY, VIRGINIA,

Nobody knew how it happened.

Nobody in CIA knew how media got to know about their internal information on Colonel Norton. As per the information, CNN had broadcasted it last evening. There was no idea for the spy source. Nobody cared about it belonging to the lower post but Deputy Chairman was furious. Now he had to answer about this to the media for avoiding the scandals.

All the news channels were speaking on the murder case and were adding about the loss caused by Camshron near Navy force. They had no doubt CIA was going in process of making unbased scandal on Norton which was nothing bur total nonsense. Everyone was talking about Lorgé too and as well as events happened to Camshron few days earlier.

Secret investigation was no more a secret. Lorgé's presence in Langley was unusual for everyone who knew about it. What was going on there with the investigation authority?

Camshron was in his desk neglecting everything which had happened.

Nathan was worried about just one thing- Mike was appearing to be the real culprit.

He was sure Mike was not the culprit thinking this all was nothing but mind eating conspiracy by a mastermind, but there looked no way of proving it. Maybe Mike was betrayed by someone so much that he accepted he was the culprit of murder.

The worst thing was media. They also knew about Mike and entitled him as the culprit. He looked at the newspaper words- WHY ISN'T C.I.A ACTING AGAINST LEVI MIKE-MURDERER OF MOHD. HAQ?

Camshron underlined those words and praying to God- inserted CD of Mike's conversation in his computer. The video was made available by St. Elizabeth's Hospital last night and was sent to them.

He saw a fence was in front of Mike and he was sitting on a chair touching the fence. It was the chamber to communicate with the patients by the outsider. Mike was waiting.

TAP…TAP…TAP…TAP…

He heard tramps of a person. The time interval between each tap was uniform- about 1.3 seconds. It looked very odd to him. The tramps were echoing as similar as the tape of Haq's murder.

Patterns.

Was it a clue?

Camshron kept waiting and saw both of them chatting with each other. It looked like there was no conversation between them. Mike just spoke a bit and the other guy in pitch darkness of camera's blank spot just nodded. Someone had even judged even where camera's blind spot is or…it was made so. Mike's voice was echoing a bit but was near impossible to hear. He could just hear, "Lorgé." from the other guy.

The video was useless.

What could he do with the video where nothing can be heard and no one except Mike was seen? It looked like Mike was talking to darkness on the other side of fence.

There was nothing but he felt a huge similarity between both videos- timing of each footstep. The time of each step in first video was also 1.3 seconds. This meant the guy who had come in hospital that day and murdered Haq was the same. It takes every person generally three steps to cover distance on land equal to their height. If the man took 1.3 seconds in each step, then he was walking with long steps. Perhaps it was his natural type of walk. Camshron took natural steps of one second then he worked on mathematics.

He was a six feet man and took three steps. Then Camshron added 0.3 seconds on his time period of walking. That man was perhaps half feet taller than him.

Obviously he was not Mike because he was half feet shorter than him.

He had not killed Haq. It was the conclusion, but he still had a big question in his mind- How did Mike deceive the lie detector then? No one can control their natural nerves activity while lying to anyone. Relaxation of body and mind can't beat it.

Camshron's mobile phone rang.

He received the call from Mr. Fernsby, "Nathan, a murder had taken place in Hot Springs."

"Who is the killed?"

"Dermatologist Kevin Jones."

"The one who resides in Langley?"

"Yes." said softly Mr. Fernsby, "Shot on chest. Local person found his carcass dumped in public dustbin in there."

"What is Deputy Chairman's reaction then?"

"Very disappointed. He would eat you, Camshron. We are going through a lot just because this case is taking time and killer is still in the hit."

"Bad news.!"

"Not very bad indeed. I found that bullet which killed Jones and it was similar with bullet which injured Mike."

"Yeah." Camshron mumbled, "Well, Mike was also attacked in the same city."

He scratched his head and said, "Sir, it means someone is killing people for the objective. You won't believe what I have found out."

"What?"

"Mike is five foot five inch man but killer of Haq is six and a half feet."

"Couldn’t you see his face than measuring his height?" came a loud sound from the man in Hot Springs.

"Just deduced and I am right."

"You better be."

Camshron inhaled lots of fresh air and said, "I think he is the man who attacked me and Mike."

"Just check out my a-"

Camshron hung the call.

He didn’t want to hear the complete sentence at all. He was just demanding concentration right now. Was this murder too related to attacks on Lorgé and Mike? Lorgé was going to be killed, so was Mike. What was going on then?

If Mike was connected with Mr. Jones, then how was it possible? D. Jones was a dermatologist, whereas Mike needed a psychiatric. He bellowed to himself, "Go and bring the schedule of Jones."

It was raining out heay and someone was walking on the street near to the navy.

The man was familiar to everyone. Everyone knew him as Mr. Hadfield. He was Ambassador's assistant in Afghan Embassy. He was his right hand.

As usual he had a briefcase in his hand and this time he wore a hat looking to be designed in forties. He preferred walking slow by splattering less water as he could, but any way his shoes were going to be wet. He was doing this to avoid his white socks get wet with dirty water on the street.

At last a cab stopped very near to him. Mr. Hadfield noticed the time-11pm, when saw through the window to driver's old wrist watch.

Driver opened the window as he knew the man needed a drive to somewhere, "Sir, where to go?"

"Take me a mile south from Navy Headquarters to Colonel Norton's house."

"Get in, sir."

Mr. Hadfield got in and slammed the door lock. It was pretty warm inside the yellow cab.

"Sir, you are a VIP, am I right?"

"Yes, Very Irresponsible Person."

The word irresponsible was confusing for the driver. There was no reason for himself to call himself irresponsible. In embassy, he had taken and handled every responsibility very well.

Driver ran his car in mid fifties speed while Mr. Hadfield made a look on some papers in the briefcase. He took a paper out and looked at it. It was an official paper by Afghan Embassy. Driver could also see its emblem on papers by rare view mirror.

Then he put the paper back and took off his surgical gloves of skin on his hand when driver played a Bob Marley song recorded in 1984. The song which had made a huge effect in the society those days was it. The same Marley who had thirty six types of lice in his hair had sung it well.

Mr. Hadfield ignored the music and made a call to someone, "I am on the way…and will be there in few minutes."

After a short drive the driver stopped cab in front on colonel's house. Then Hadfield got, paid the driver and heard him saying, "Good night, sir."

Ignoring the flashing and thunder in the sky he pushed the big gate. He walked inside the area of the great house for a while and rang the doorbell.

He was not a patient man, so he rang the doorbell several times.

The door opened and from there peeped out Mr. Norton. His first words were, "What are you doing here right now?"

"I am late…"

"Get in." he said and closed the door Norton was in his gown with soft warm sandals whereas Morris was in his rocking chair near fireplace with a glass of Vodka.

"Drink?" Showed Mr. Morris, in his official uniform."

"No thanks, not now."

Mr. Norton sat on the sofa with Washington Post and said, "You are nine hours late."

"I had some work."

"You are a pretty busy man, aren’t you?" laughed Mr. Morris.

"Just leave it." Norton sipped coffee.

He had a strange habit of having coffee at night.

"You know I am being dragged into this scandal by which I belonged to once." Norton said.

"I know your name in this case is unnecessary." Mr. Hadfield said, "But I do not know why you invited me here."

Mr. Norton slammed his Washington Post on Hadfield's lap. He saw words- MR. HADFIELD SPEAKS ON COLONEL NORTON.
