CHAPTER TWO (2): A ROYAL REQUEST
----------------------------------------
As Alcandor stares at the two Merrow looking at him, he replies to Killigan’s statement. “What type of proposition do you have for me?” He asks the Merrow woman. “Is she normally like this?” He asks the Merrow man.
“I’ve got they/them pronouns, Prince Alcandor. Please use them in the future.” After he nods and apologizes, they continue. “I have heard of the struggle that is coming for your head and your crown if you are not careful. You do not have many fighters beyond those you have personally chosen.” They pause here, judging Prince Alcandor’s body language. “But, there may be a solution to this.” Killigan clears their throat before looking at the other Merrow. “I purpose a marriage alliance between myself, my father’s friend’s son, Krymsen, and you.” When Prince Alcandor beings to speak, they interrupt him. “Wait until I’m done to say yes or no.” They glare at him until he looks down at the desk. “Hmmph.” they sniff. “Anyway, as I was saying before, the marriage would be between the three of us. Four of us if you accept Krymsen’s brother, Mesmyr as another Gheyo Ace, but that isn’t needed.” Killigan shifts in the seat. “But what you would gain, would be both my father’s fighters, our family’s fighters, Krymsen’s father’s fighters, and Krymsen’s family’s fighters.”
Alcandor’s jaw drops as he realizes the boon that this could be. “That is what, nearly 20 thousand fighters, correct?”
Killigan nods their head. “Yes. Thereabout. Not to mention how many will flock once they hear how many we have and that my family is backing you. My family name has quite a reach, including to those at the many Rhabdomancer colonies.”
Alcandor closes his eyes before lowering his head in thought; he imagines his baby sister in his eyes before nodding his head in acceptance. “Yes.” He looks to the two of them. “Yes, I will be willing to bond and marry the two of you for the support behind me becoming the Merrow King.” They quickly mark and bond with each other.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
It takes three long years to prepare, but the day finally comes for Crown Prince Alcandor finally dethrone his own mother and show his cousin that he will not be the next ruler of the Merrow.
----------------------------------------
After a long and brutal fight with his mother and her allies, she is successfully cuffed and put in a jail cell. The new King sighs as he has his fighters bring his cousin and his aunt to the throne room. “Prince Alvon.” He sneers as he looks at his bloodied cousin. “You have not won the conquest of the Merrow throne.” He pulls his youngest cousin, Alec, to him by his medallion around his neck. “Your brother has backed me up and will now be under my protection as my Court's Beast Trainer.” He gently shoves the boy away. “As for you, you will be punished to do nothing else but to watch over the Immortal in our protection and his weapon. And for your brothers, they are temporarily banished from my Court for the following 2 years to only your house. If no rebellions are planned or acted upon, they will be able to leave the house freely.” King Alcandor stands up from his throne and calls for his first meeting for the entirety of the Merrow populous.
“People of the Merrow Courts! Welcome your new King! My name is King Alcandor and barring any rebellions, I shall stay that way for many years to come. My Queen is Queen Killigan and my Gheyo Ace is Krymsen, the Crimson Tide.” He gestures for them to join him. After they do, he starts speaking again. “AS of today, the following things are true. First: My mother, the former Queen Manthestia, is now banished to a jail cell for five years. After that, she shall be heavily guarded. Second: Queen Killigan and Krymsen are to be off-limits from anyone thinking of touching them. Third: I ...”
