Chapter 23: Teasing

Chapter 23: Teasing

Evelyn had a nice dream. Usually, she would want to sleep more to continue the dream but she was very excited despite only having 2 hours of sleep.

Sitting up on her bed, Evelyn looks at the cave window and sees that it is already morning.

She giggles to herself.

She felt a bit light especially since she finally released her pent-up emotions yesterday night. And because of that, she couldn’t sleep. She spent the whole night thinking of Michael and how cute he was when he confessed.

Grah!!! I’m such a fucking schoolgirl. When did I become so… ahhhh!!!

Evelyn covers her face with her fur pillows.

Tsk… What would he think if I was such a giddy girl… grrr… it's not my fault though! I literally haven't met a guy like him!

Evelyn gasps as she realizes that they were in a relationship now.

What if… he finds out that I’m so girly and starts to dislike me! He only knows my strong side… AHHHHHH having a crush is so annoying! Why did he have to be handsome, cool, caring, and encouraging?! Goddessdammit! This is all your fault!

While Evelyn was fretting over the details, Michael was outside working.

He hasn’t slept yet.

When Evelyn entered her room, Michael felt like pure energy was injected directly into his veins. He was so energetic that he couldn’t sleep. He tossed and turned on his bed, thinking of her. Eventually, he felt something hard hit his back. When he turned around, he saw a very shiny rock on his pillow. Looking at the adjacent bed, he sees Bob angrily glaring at him.

The little monkey was still sleepy and Michael’s movement kept waking him up.

Bob angrily signs for Michael to stop fussing or get the fuck out of the room.

Apologetic, Michael tried to sleep again but he kept tossing and turning. After a 2nd shiny rock hit his head, he reluctantly had to leave the room.

As Michael went out of the room, he wonders where Bob learned how to sign the word fuck.

Once outside, Michael decided to burn the midnight oil.

He did a lot of tasks that were reserved for the morning. He tried to sleep at first but his mind was out of balance and he needed to do something routine.

Michael continued to work until the sun rose. It was supposed to tire him out but he felt even more energized. He felt hot which continued to rise each time he tried to take his thoughts away from Evelyn.

Shit… am I going to have a heat stroke?

Eventually, Evelyn came out of the cave. Ever since she arrived in Teremarae, she’s never had to fix her hair or use the cologne that Michael gifted her. She never needed to clean up but right now, she felt the need to be a bit more presentable on this specific day.

This is for me and no one else. I have to treat myself after all!

Then she sees Michael. He was sweaty and shirtless. That stops her in her tracks. She watched as he worked his body. She couldn’t help but see his muscles flex as he continued to do his daily tasks. She liked that. She fans her neck with her hands but it didn’t do much to alleviate the heat she was feeling.

Michael senses the person in his mind slowly approaching him. He swallows the lump in his throat. He slowly turns around and sees Evelyn staring at him. Seeing Evelyn, Michael felt like his body stopped working. For a moment, all the heat and energy he built up from working overnight suddenly disappeared.

Looking at the goddess-like person in front of him, Michael couldn’t help but admire Evelyn. She was tall, taller than most women. She had a fit and muscular body adorned with rock-hard abs and hands that could overpower most people on Earth, excluding a few rare abnormal individuals. Her red hair was just the right color and it accentuated her strong yet feminine features.

Michael didn’t know how but Goddess truly made Evelyn perfect, at least in his eyes. After yesterday night, Michael thought that Evelyn had become more beautiful.

She looks gorgeous.

Despite his internal monologue about how Evelyn had somehow become more beautiful, Evelyn didn’t change. She was just as pretty the moment she got to Teremarae.

Michael was just infatuated. He already had a crush on Evelyn but he mostly ignored it as it was simply a physical crush since Evelyn was a mind-blowing beauty. But as he got to know her, he realized that he liked her personality as well.

“Good morning Michael.”

Evelyn’s voice snaps Michael back into reality.

Fortunately for Michael, he really liked her voice too.

Smiling, Michael replies to Evelyn.

+Good morning.+

“Sooo… you woke up quite early.”

Evelyn had a playful tune in her voice. Looking around, she knew that Michael hadn’t slept yet.

+Oh, yeah I did.+

Michael felt a bit embarrassed. He didn’t want her to know that he stayed up all night because of her. Maybe, he’ll tell her one day, not aware that she already knew.

“So, what are you doing there? You’re a bit too far away.”

Evelyn walks toward Michael until they’re only a few inches apart. She looked at Michael’s handiwork. The steel arrows were sharpened and neatly stored in a carved wooden quiver. For now, Michael banned the use of steel arrows because they were reserved for the Draco.

Other than the steel arrows, Evelyn takes great interest in the steel dagger on the table. Michael already made a steel dagger for him but he hasn’t finished the one for Evelyn.

She smiles when she sees that the dagger for her was half-sharpened and that Michael had a whetstone in his hand.

“Hehe, is that my steel dagger?”

Michael’s thoughts were disrupted again and he forgot what he was doing. Looking at the table, Michael sees the unfinished steel dagger. He then looks at Evelyn.

+Yeah, it’s yours. It’s not done yet.+

“Oh? Well, let me help.”

Evelyn puts her hand out.

Michael stares at Evelyn’s empty hand. He knew that she was asking for the whetstone but Michael really wanted to hold her hand.

Logic managed to win and Michael put the whetstone on Evelyn’s hand.

Taking the dagger, Evelyn smiles seeing the usually stoic and serious Michael get flustered. She suddenly had an idea.

Hehe… this is a great idea.

“Michael, can you help me?”

Michael, still staring at Evelyn, replies.

+Yeah?+

“Well, I want to help you but I can’t help you if I don’t know how to sharpen this.”

Evelyn gestures to the dagger but she quickly continues.

“So to help you, I need you to help me. Help me help you.”

She offers Michael a beaming smile that strikes Michael’s heart. Seeing Michael return to his unresponsive state, Evelyn chuckles again. She knows that she has an effect on the person she likes.

“So, will you help me or not?”

Michael nods immediately. He then reaches out to grab the whetstone but Evelyn pulls it back.

“No no no, if you just do it in front of me… I won’t be able to… grind it properly!”

Evelyn inches toward Michael then she turns around. Her back was now in front of Michael. His arms were beside hers. Evelyn uses her free hand to grab Michael’s hand and put it on hers.

“Now show me how to grind this tough object.”

Michael gulped and held both of her hands as he taught her how to grind the dagger with the whetstone.

While Evelyn was taking the lead, she was screaming in her mind.

WHAT AM I DOING??!?!?! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Evelyn felt seductive and strong but at the same time, she felt that she was going to die of embarrassment. In her previous life, her profession made sure that her dating pool was significantly smaller than the average woman. The few men that did approach her were not good men.

Seeing Michael, a good man that was also her type, Evelyn felt motivated. She wanted him but she also wanted to prolong her suffering. It was like waiting for night to eat cake. Evelyn was doing that.

GODDESS!!! AHHHH WHY DID YOU MAKE ME LIKE THIS!!!

Michael on the other hand did not have much experience with women in his previous life. He had partners before but he wasn’t a casanova by any means. He had good relations with good women and bad relations with bad women. It didn’t help that Michael found Evelyn to be both on top of the looks department and personality department. In addition, spending a year with no one but aggressive animals tends to weaken one’s social skills.

So when she started to act aggressively, in a way that didn’t include food, training, or hunting, Michael was unsure of what to do.

The two of them were inwardly panicking but both of them didn’t want to freeze like a deer in the headlights. They continued to work.

With Michael’s help, Evelyn continued to grind the dagger, slowly and surely sharpening it. While they weren’t touching each other, the two of them were close enough to smell and feel each other.

Michael’s body was starting to feel hot again but unlike Evelyn, he would have an obvious reaction which could either be a cause for a good time or embarrassment. So early in the relationship, Michael did not want the risk of embarrassment so he started to put his thoughts on other things.

He started to mentally recite the Buddhist scripts.

But before he could even get a quarter of the scrips, he hears Evelyn whisper.

“Hey… help me out, I can’t be the one who’s doing all the work.”

And that was enough to break Michael’s control.

~ROAR!!!!!~

The Draco’s powerful roar explodes outward.

Michael and Evelyn’s haze was immediately broken and they turn around with their backs supporting each other. Wielding their steel daggers, the duo surveys the area.

Seeing that the area was clear, Michael and Evelyn slowly relaxed. Turning around, the two of them look at each other.

Without the hot feeling confusing them, they quickly recollect their bearings.

“Umm…”

Michael already knew what Evelyn was going to say.

+Yeah.+

“Yeah, we should… we shouldn’t be like that when we’re hunting the Draco…”

Michael nods. He didn’t want either of them to die because they were too hot and bothered to focus on the mission.

+To avoid that, I think we should set some ground rules.+

Evelyn nods, scratching her head. She looks down, a bit embarrassed.

Then she blushes which confuses Michael but he continues.

+Okay, first.+

Michael stops when Evelyn’s pink blushing becomes full-on tomato beet red. He follows her line of sight and looks down.

Shit!

Evelyn looks back at Michael with a forced smile. Michael on the other hand felt embarrassed.

“Umm… yes… let’s set ground rules… we can’t… have extra spears… on the field…”

Michael sheepishly nods.
