“Well, that went well, don’t you think?” Styx remarked.
Mnemosyne snorted. “Did you have to be so insensitive?” she accused Zagreus.
As she was talking, I got up out of the bed and stretched. I was a bit sore from the blessing. And confused. I highly doubted Nyx had a crush on me. That was just weird. Especially since she acted like she hated me. People didn’t do that if they had a crush, right? Then I was jerked out of my thoughts by Zagreus speaking. I turned my attention toward him.
Zagreus bit his lip. “I said sorry!”
“Sorry isn’t always enough!” Styx retorted.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, clueless.
They all glanced at each other for a second. (Did I mention I was beginning to hate that?!)
Mnemosyne exhaled. “It’s not important right now.” Zagreus and Styx nodded.
I sighed. “Okay, then. What now?” Zagreus grinned. “Now it’s my turn to bless you!”
My eyes widened, and I stiffened in alarm.
‘Oh, Hades no! Not again!’ The mini annoyance in my head groaned.
“No.” Mnemosyne said, frowning at Zagreus. “It’s Styx’s turn. You get to go last, as your punishment for making Nyx mad.”
“But-” He protested, before he was interrupted by Styx pointing her hands at me and chanting “Εγώ, ο Styx, η θεά του μίσους και ο ποταμός Styx, δίνω την πλήρη ευλογία μου στον Περσέα Τζάκσον και τον ανακηρύσσω πρωταθλητή μου.”
Her hands glowed a bright blue color, and then a beam of light that same color burst from her hands, and shot toward me super fast.
I just had time to think, ‘woah that was different then the other one’ before a wave of nausea hit me, making me stagger backwards. I held on to the wall until it passed and when it finally did, I looked back up at Styx.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Then suddenly Zagreus pointed his hands at me too, and said in ancient greek, “Εγώ, ο Ζάγκρεος, ο Θεός του Κυνηγιού, η Αναγέννηση και τα Μυστήρια δώρο την ευλογία μου στον Περσέα Τζάκσον και διακηρύσσω τον πρωταθλητή μου” His hands didn't glow at all, but I felt some kind of power flow toward me. "Drama Queen." Styx muttered.
I immediately felt a burst of energy surge through my body, and I felt stronger… more alive. When it was over, I glared at Zagreus and said indignantly “You could have warned me.”
He snickered. “That would have made it less interesting!”
I glared at him more, until Styx interrupted our staring contest.
“We might as well explain to him what our blessings do, I guess.”
‘Ooh, yes I wanna learn what cool powers we have!” Odysseus proclaimed excitedly.
Everyone snickered. Mnemosyne winced. “Since you are their champions, they can read your mind now too.”
‘Well that’s rude.’ Odysseus said. ‘I never really liked it when people read my mind’
‘Yeah well, I just love it,’ I replied sarcastically. He snorted. ‘Well, aren’t you just-’
Mnemosyne interrupted our happy bonding time saying, “So the powers you get from me lets you look into people’s memories occasionally, but only when you look in their eyes, and concentrate. You can’t read any of Primordial's memories, and reading God’s and Titan’s will be a lot harder than reading a mortal’s mind, and demigods and mortals will be easiest to read. You’ll also have an even better memory than a regular demigod or mortal, and no one will be able to mess with your memory, unless they are a primordial. You can also wipe a section of a mortals or demigods' memories if you need to. But I am going to block a few of those powers for now, until you learn to use them properly.”
‘Cool!’ Odysseus said, sounding excited. ‘I wanna try that soon’
‘You can’t, you're just a construct in my head, built of memories. You can’t influence anything in the outside world.’ I said.
He was silent for a second. Then he replied, ‘Yeah but you can, and I can just take over your body and do it!”
‘Sorry, what?!’
Zagreus coughed, interrupting us. “Well the powers you get from me are way cooler.” Mnemosyne rolled her eyes at this. “Since I am the god of Rebirth, you can see which souls are reborn souls and who they were in a past life! Combined with Nemy’s powers-” Mnemosyne growled at the nickname, but Zagreus just ignored her. “-you could probably give them their memories of their past life back, without them visiting the Styx, but please don’t. Otherwise it would cause a lot of problems and a lot of unnecessary paperwork. So don’t do it unless it is absolutely necessary.”
Styx choked at that, and went to interrupt him, but he just ignored her too.
“And cause I am the god of Hunting, you’ll be super good at stalking animals, making camps, tracking and all the other stuff that goes with hunting. It’s basically my version of Artemis’s blessing for her hunters. Only you won’t be as good at archery as them, you just get the ability to learn it. So you’ll have to train.”
He paused for breath, licking his lips, then continued. During this small pause, I tried to digest what he was saying.
“Because of my domain of Mysteries, you’ll pretty much have the brain of a detective. You’ll be able to solve mysteries, riddles, and puzzles, a lot quicker than a normal person. Even some gods will find it harder to figure it out than you!” He smirked at me. “You’ll also be able to make most things a lot harder to figure out for others, if you will it.”
I froze in shock. ‘Wow’ Odysseus commented, sounding impressed. ‘That’s a lot of cool powers.’ Zagreus beamed.
Styx humphed. “Well the power’s you get from me allow you to control my river,” She frowned at this, “And you can release someone from their oath on my river, if you ask me first. You will also be immune to any punishments you get from breaking an oath on my river, unless I want to punish you for it.’’
“Cool! Can you release me from my oath to not prank Hecate?” Zagreus asked excitedly. Mnemosyne shook her head. “Immature idiot.” Styx sniffed, and answered, “No. I really don't want an angry Hecate on my tail.”
He pouted. Then looked at me mischievously. “I can just have you do it instead then!” Mnemosyne and Styx groaned.
“I told you he would find a way around that!” Mnemosyne said to Styx. Zagreus just smiled innocently, batting his eyelashes at her.
“This is why you should never make me swear on our darling Styx, honey.”
She frowned. “I am not your honey, Zagreus!”
