Why did he behave like a man possessed? Why did the Path Technique of others not work on him? What was the exact nature of his affliction?
These were questions that Wuzhi had time and time again, ignored and circumvented around the answer. This time, however, no amount of gab would allow him to sideline the issue.
Under the intense scrutinizing gaze of his maternal aunt, who was one of the strongest and most knowledgeable people in this world, Wuzhi was forced to come clean. And left without an option, he did.
First, he tackled the easier of the two questions; what was he afflicted with?
To this question, he answered honestly, saying that it was the side-effect of a dangerous and powerful technique which he had used to save himself from fatal danger. When he was asked for the name of this technique, he honestly replied that he did not know. (He hadn't named the technique yet, therefore he really didn't know its name.)
When he was asked to which Path this technique belonged, he once again honestly replied that he didn't know. (His self-created Path hadn't reached completion and therefore hadn't been named yet.)
When he was asked how he had come across this technique, Wuzhi hesitated for a moment before telling the truth; he had found (invented) it in a dark, enclosed underground chamber (his teacher's underground library).
Hearing this answer which was both clear and vague, Everfrost Fairy's learned mind quickly connected the dots; he must have run into some underground inheritance. At this 'truth' she was both heartened and worried.
With the first hurdle conquered thusly, Wuzhi was faced with the second; this was more of an unconquerable wall!
Why did Path Techniques not work on him?
Telling her the truth, that he was actually the Star of this generation was a complete no-go. He could never do so as not only would that seriously ruin his plans for the future but would also break his vow to Yuelong, resulting in him being struck to death by the heavens!
After some quick and exhaustive thinking, Wuzhi answered with the 'truth;' since his birth, he had been afflicted by a 'condition' that made him 'different' from the others. He did not know the exact nature and history of this 'condition,' only that it brought him many difficulties such as the Path techniques of others not working on him, a crippled and halting cultivation speed, limited lifespan, and more.
Fortunately for Wuzhi, the life history and exact conditions of a 'Star' were secrets closely guarded by the Heavenly Spirit Tower and therefore were unknown to most others, including Chu Mingxi. Even more fortunate was the fact that even amongst all previous 'Stars,' Wuzhi was a special case. He was simply too much of an oddity!
Hearing his answer, which was really not an answer, coupled with his fantastic acting, his maternal aunt quickly arrived at an answer: an unknown, congenital disease!
In an instant, her heart fell from its previous peak of happiness and into the very freezing bottom of despair. After twenty-eight of separation, she had finally been reunited with the blood of her elder sister. And now, she was finding out that he was afflicted by an unknown congenital disease that might claim his life at any time!
Oh Heavens! Why did you have to be so cruel to my family!? She cried.
Unable to watch this woman, who looked similar to his mother, break down like this, Wuzhi said that his affliction was not without hope and that he was currently studying a way to resolve it. This was the truth.
Chu Mingxi did not buy it initially; however, after he spent some time reassuring her, she seemed to believe his words. The fact that she had seen him undergo 'enlightenment' just before their meeting also helped in proving his ability regarding the matter.

At this point, Wuzhi had more or less accepted the fact that his immediate plans had been derailed. Having been reunited with her long-lost nephew, there was simply no way that Chu Mingxi would simply let him go and do as he pleased. Bringing him back home with her was a certainty. Arriving at that conclusion, he immediately redesigned his more immediate plans.
Wuzhi understood clearly that his 'episodes' were getting stronger and more frequent. It had already reached the point where he had to resort to severe self-harm to extricate himself from them.
Curing himself of this affliction took priority. Such being the case, he decided to use this opportunity with his maternal aunt to secure the resources and materials that he would require to design and make a cure.
Previously, his teacher, the Heaven Scheming Devil, had provided him with all the facilities, resources, and materials that he required for his research. However, now that he was on his own, it was up to him to secure the required items; it was here that having a backer like his maternal aunt, Chu Mingxi, would prove to be useful.
Besides, it could not be denied that Wuzhi possessed some curiosity towards the early life of his mother; a life that she had hidden from him. He also wanted to visit the place of her birth and the sect where she had spent the entirety of her life before him.
Thus, his reunion with his aunt came to a close and it was decided that he would return with her to the Sacred Snow Heart Sect located north of the North Aislan Continent.
The two of them immediately boarded a boat and spent the following two weeks crossing the Azure Ocean to reach the North Aislan Continent. During these two weeks, Wuzhi was forced to spend all his waking hours accompanying his aunt in conversation. She wanted to learn about every single detail of his life in the Isilda Continent and would even allow him to leave for sleep until she was satisfied.
Suffice it to say, these two weeks proved to be the most gruelling test of intelligence that he had ever faced in his life; he had to speak a coherent and closed story while hiding the many, many secrets that he could not speak about.
Midway through, Wuzhi had even forgotten the constant feeling of discomfort and terror that he felt while being in the company of his aunt. In the end, while there were many questions and a few dubious points in his story, the Everfrost Fairy finally seemed satisfied.
Meanwhile, Chu Mingxi also discovered that this newly-found nephew of hers was incredibly talented, intelligent, and had an unrivalled gift for the gab. The more time that she spent with him and the more that she conversed with him, she found him more and more to her liking.
Like this, Chu Mingxi also felt more confident in her plan to have Wuzhi fight for his promised benefits and more within the Mu Household. At the very least, he did not appear as naïve and in-able as she had feared that he would be.
It must be known that Chu Mingxi was completely unaware of the role that Wuzhi had played in the resolution of the war and its final result in the South Aislan Continent. Had she known this, she would've realized just how fearsome and monstrous her little nephew was.
After two weeks of sailing, the two of them touched land at the port of Miu Ailsa City, the capital of the North Aislan Continent and the home of Mu Household. Just as they were in the process of securing an airship to take them to the north, an urgent message arrived for Chu Mingxi.
A terrible affliction had befallen 'Son of the Heavens' Mu Yuelong, causing him to teeter on the very edge of death. The Mu Household summoned for all of its friends and allies to protect the life of its heir until he reached Miu Aisla City.
The Everfrost Fairy felt conflicted. She had reunited with her elder sister's son after many years of separation and couldn't wait to take him back to their home, to the Sacred Snow Heart Sect. However, she was also duty-bound to answer the summons of the Mu Household.
After an intense internal debate, Chu Mingxi realized that she couldn't be too greedy. Her most fervent wish had been answered and now it was time for her to answer the call for duty.
Besides, she remembered that Wuzhi was not only a member of her Chu Family but also a part of the Mu Family. And as their long-lost son, he was duty-bound to return to his ancestral home and offer incense to his ancestors. Traditions were sacred, after all.
After telling Wuzhi to return to the Mu Household to offer incense to his ancestors and that she would return to pick him up soon, Chu Mingxi hurriedly left.
Having unexpectedly gained freedom, Wuzhi was of half a mind to simply run away and disappear once more. However, he quickly shot this idea down as curing the affliction to his psyche took precedence.
Thus, he obediently returned to the Mu Household where he was received as a guest and installed in an empty residence; it appeared that his aunt had informed someone in the Mu Household of his arrival.
That was the story of his last few weeks and also the reason why he instantly fell asleep from exhaustion the very moment his head hit the soft bedding.
Alas, unbeknownst to him, his very arrival at the Mu Household residence had already earned him a fair share of enemies.
