Seeker's Codex - Thragovant

Thragovant

----------------------------------------

The creature known as Thragovant embodies the raw power of nature blended with the cold precision of a predator. Its massive, spiraling horns rise from a flat, hardened skull, resembling twisted branches of an ancient tree. Coarse, rust-colored fur covers most of its body, while its underbelly and limbs shimmer with a metallic gray hue. Its hind legs are powerful, ending in wide, cloven talons that leave scorched, branded-like prints in the earth. Most unsettling, however, are its eyes: small, obsidian orbs that seem to pierce into the soul of anyone unfortunate enough to meet their gaze.

Adding to the dread is the way Thragovant moves. Despite its massive size, it glides almost soundlessly, even across rocky terrain. Its presence heralds a profound silence—no birds, no rustling leaves, as if all of nature holds its breath in the predator’s shadow. Witnesses have observed it prowling hillsides, sending herds of animals scattering long before it appears on the horizon.

----------------------------------------

Folklore whispers that Thragovant serves as the guardian of ancient paths. Centuries ago, when these lands were traversed by mysterious pilgrims and merchants, priests are said to have created the beast to protect them from marauders. Over time, however, as the stories go, Thragovant turned against its creators, deeming all wanderers intruders.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

One of the most famous tales recounts a group of merchants who dared to cross Thragovant’s territory in search of a shortcut. Supposedly, only one returned, babbling incoherently about a blind, haunting gaze and how the beast’s horns effortlessly shattered their wagons, scattering goods across the forest. When asked why he survived, he could only reply, "I didn’t run. I stood still and stared back until it left me.”

Seekers’ Notes

“Do not hunt the Thragovant by day. At night, it may stalk, but in daylight, it hunts. Its gaze is deadlier than its claws—avoid eye contact at all costs.”

- Seeker Darius Fenwrought

“The horns of the Thragovant are a treasure. They forge weapons that never break. But claiming them takes more than bravery—it takes cunning. The beast does not forgive mistakes.”

- Seeker Lysanne Gale

“I’ve heard fire can drive it off. When it draws too close, light a great blaze. But be ready—if the flame dies, you will be its next prey.”

- Seeker Harvald Ashlight

“Its claw marks lead directly to places where it tears the earth to dig up roots. That’s the only time it seems unaware of its surroundings. That’s when you strike—if you have the courage.”

- Seeker Ulric Vaylen
