Chirothrix
----------------------------------------
The Chirothrix is a predatory creature with a disturbing appearance, its body resembling clumps of matted, sticky fur. Its elongated limbs end in hooked claws, perfect for traversing rough terrain and weaving its unique hunting webs. The creature's head resembles a grotesque mask with hollow eye sockets that occasionally emit a faint blue glow, drawing the attention and unease of those who witness it. From its maw drips a resin-like secretion that hardens into strong, nearly indestructible threads.
The webs spun by the Chirothrix are intricate labyrinths, often stretching for dozens of meters, suspended in dark forests, narrow ravines, or underground caves. Any creature caught in its sticky strands panics, and the more it struggles, the faster the trap ensnares it. The Chirothrix hunts by waiting patiently, often camouflaged in the center of its web, where its body blends seamlessly with the structure.

"In ancient times, they spoke of a creature lurking in the shadows of dense woods, preying on wanderers. They said that anyone who glimpsed its web would never find their way out, for the Chirothrix knows every path in the forest, and its web is a map leading only to doom. Some tales claim that its webs were so strong a southern king sought to forge armor from them. Yet legend has it that all who wore the armor died in agony, for the web always remembers its creator.”

The Chirothrix's web is highly valued by alchemists and weavers. When properly treated, it can be spun into durable, flexible threads unmatched as protective material or for constructing traps. However, harvesting the web is perilous, as even dead threads can ensnare the unwary. The most effective way to neutralize the Chirothrix is with fire—while the creature itself is not flammable, its webs ignite easily, forcing it to flee.

Seekers’ Notes:
"Never wander the forest at night. A blacksmith once asked me to retrieve some of these threads. I ended up trapped in my own mistake while trying to cut a piece of the web. What I saw in the Chirothrix's eyes was pure curiosity. It spared me but took my weapon. It seems to pick its trophies.”
– Seeker Darius
"Their webs cannot be cut with ordinary blades. I had to use an enchanted dagger and some alchemical solvent. Never again—that was a nightmare. Still, I have to admit, I made a fortune selling those threads.”
– Seeker Helen
"The Chirothrix is a solitary creature, but if you find more than one web in a forest, turn back immediately. That means you're dealing with juveniles, and they are far more aggressive and unpredictable.”
