B2 Chapter 28 - Runic Rings

The spatial ring was already at its limit and couldn’t be Ego-enhanced without destroying it, but the unenchanted rings told different stories. The Interfaces were interesting to look at.

Silvron Ring

Good Quality

785 Prosperity

[Protect], [Enhanced Senses]

The Silvron Ring had been the cheapest among the trio of unenchanted rings, but the runic enchantments were interesting, to say the least.

If the runic enchantments are cheap, there shouldn’t be a problem with profiteering from selling the Silvron Ring as an Artifact. Let’s test the other stuff first, though.

Yvelton Ring

Good Quality

1040 Prosperity

[Guardian], [Energy Shield], [Danger Sense]

The Yvelton Ring had also been cheap compared to the last ring’s price, but its’ runic enchantments attracted Percy’s attention.

[Energy Shield] might be an upgraded version of [Protect] or even the [Guard] enchantment of the arm guards. [Guardian]...I don’t know. It feels like you can summon some sort of protection – maybe some sort of spirit – with a runic enchantment like this, but is that even possible? My remaining Prosperity points don’t seem to be enough to engrave [Guardian] onto the Yvelton Ring either. No, in the first place, it doesn’t seem like the Yvelton Ring’s quality is high enough to remain stable, even if I had enough Prosperity points to engrave it.

[Danger Sense] was also interesting, but Percy didn’t think of it as different from [Enhanced Senses]. Both were interesting runic enchantments, but they didn’t hold a candle to the protection enchantments or [Guardian].

The runic enchantments he could engrave on the unenchanted rings were nice and would earn him some profit, but his attention lingered on the Magicum Ring. It was the most expensive unenchanted ring in the small shop and cost Percy 50 silver. The price was way too high for an ordinary ring, which was also why Percy had been willing to pay for it. The ring wasn’t normal.

It wasn’t an Artifact, but Magicum Ore was rare and known for its high mana conductivity once properly refined. If the purity content of the refined Magicum Ingot was high enough, it could draw the surrounding energy closer. That was what the Magicum Ring could do, though only faintly, indicating decent work.

Even non-Gifted civilians could purchase the ring and draw mana closer to them, possibly increasing their chances of gaining access to mana. At least, that was what the legends rumored, according to the shop owner. Percy didn’t trust the shop owner’s words, but he was curious about the enchantments he could apply to the Magicum Ring.

Magicum Ring

Good Quality

3546 Prosperity

[Spatial Space], [Food Creation], [Mana Accumulus], [Accelerus]

Percy didn’t have enough Prosperity to unseal any of the four runic enchantments, but that didn’t matter. His Ego showed him roughly how much Prosperity he lacked to unlock any of the runic enchantments.

To think Spatial Space is the cheapest. That’s a surprise. And what is this about [Food Creation]? I didn’t know something like that existed. That would be perfect for me. I won’t ever have to pay for food with that runic enchantment. That is…if I can create whatever food I want, which is probably not possible. [Food Creation] can probably only create something simple, right?

Percy tilted his head while he kept moving through the shopping alley. Even though it was still early in the morning – it hadn’t been two hours since dawn – but the alleys were already filled with bustling civilians. Percy would have minded being around so many people if not for his interest in the remaining runic enchantments of the Magicum Ring.

Mana Accumulus sounds like a proper version of Magicum Ingot’s natural effect. It probably augments the natural effect and draws more mana closer. That should be very useful for…everyone trying to train their mana control. It might as well work on Egos. [Accelerus], on the other hand…doesn’t indicate anything. Could that be about the Gifted legend? [Accelerus] requires the most Prosperity to awaken, and the red touch around the symbol of [Mana Accumulus] is a red cloud engulfing [Accelerus]. The Magicum Ring’s quality should be close to Perfect if I want to test [Accelerus] in the future. Not that I plan to do that anytime soon.

[Spatial Space] was the only runic enchantment Percy was interested in, for now. However, he lacked some Prosperity points to engrave it onto the Magicum Ring.

Fortunately, Percy could solve that easily. He disappeared in a restaurant, where he went to the toilet right away. Percy’s hands reached for the gold pouch, and he retrieved three gold coins, which disappeared in his hands as the abomination of his Ego burst through his palm.

Greedy bastard!

Percy cursed softly before using [Consume] on Prosperity again.

[Three Gold Coins have been consumed. 33,000 Prosperity has been added.]

[Magicum Ring’s spatial affinity has been enhanced. 100,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

[Spatial Affinity reached a threshold. [Spatial Space] is overflowing with Prosperity.

[Spatial Space] will be interwoven into the essence of the Magicum Ring.]

Mana Streaks formed in the air before Percy and engraved into the Magicum Ring, but since he was already familiar with the Ego-enchanting process, his attention pulled away from the magnificent scenery unfolding before him…in a small toilet stall.

He put the lesser spatial ring on and channeled mana into the runic enchantment before closing his eyes.

The space is small but cozy. It should have been enough to last me for a short while, but it should be better now that I have an even better spatial ring.

His attention drifted back to the magicum ring which he put on once the enchantment had been engraved. He closed his eyes again and channeled mana into the self-made spatial ring.

The result was as pleasant as expected. A pocket dimension the size of a tiny room, probably five cubic meters big, unfolded before his mind's eye. It was empty, but not for long. Percy stored his money in the spatial ring to check if he could access his property inside a pocket dimension with his Ego. That didn’t work, which didn’t surprise Percy. Anything too far from his reach couldn’t be perceived by his Ego, which included objects in a different dimension.

Five cubic meters is nice. That will last me for a while.

Percy nodded in satisfaction, happy how cheap it had been to create such a large spatial ring. The Artifact was worth paying nine gold coins and some silver converted into Prosperity points, but that was a cheap exchange. The price of spatial rings increased exponentially with the pocket dimension’s size, after all!

Should I sell it and do it all over again? Maybe later if I need some quick bucks. I still have enough gold to do everything I need.

He still had more than 20,000 Prosperity points left to use as well. That being said, Percy retrieved the Silvron Ring and the Yvelton Ring to transform them into Artifacts as well.

[Silvron Ring’s mana conductivity has been enhanced. 5,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

[Mana conductivity reached its limit. [Enhanced Senses] is overflowing with Prosperity.

[Enhanced Senses] will be interwoven into the essence of the Silvron Ring.]

[Yvelton Ring’s durability and magical resistance have been enhanced. 15,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

[Durability and Magical Resistance reached their limits. [Energy Shield] is overflowing with Prosperity.

[Energy Shield] will be interwoven into the essence of the Yvelton Ring.]

Percy was left with almost no Prosperity after transforming the two unenchanted objects into runic rings, but that was fine. [Enhanced Senses] had been rather cheap, given how effective it could be for training sessions and hunts in the Wilderness. Gifted could use [Enhanced Senses] to train their mana sense. After all, being able to sense the surrounding mana was also accounted for when it came to [Enhanced Senses].

The effect wasn’t too potent, but Percy was confident about the demand for the Silvron Ring Artifact. Even if wealthy families wouldn’t bother buying it for a few dozen silvers or a gold coin, a bunch of Adventurers would certainly be happy fighting against monsters with enhanced senses.

He put the Silvron Ring aside, put the Yvelton Ring Artifact on, and channeled enough energy into [Energy Shield] to manifest it. A greenish-translucent shield conjured before Percy. It was roughly the size of Percy’s chest, but that wasn’t out of the ordinary.

Percy tensed up, shifted his feet, and twisted his body before punching the shield before him with as much power as he could muster in the toilet stall.

The collision was loud, and the shield cracked, but it didn’t collapse right away.

“That’s good enough,” Percy nodded slowly.

He was already at the Peak of the Elite Tier, given the power his Augmentations granted him, and his Tier was also high. That being said, his punch was fierce and powerful enough to rival the charge of a River Boar. Blocking the charge of a River Boar was a great feat.

[Energy Shield] was a powerful runic enchantment for any Gifted and certainly worth a small fortune.

I can sell the pair of rings, keep the spatial rings, and…pick up my clothes now.

Percy was interrupted when he heard someone enter the toilets.

“I apologize for intruding, but we were informed you haven’t ordered anything yet. If you wish to buy something, you can stay, but we would prefer if you leave if you do not wish to order anything, sir.” The last words were forced, however, Percy couldn’t care less.

He opened the stall after the runic rings disappeared in his spatial storages and stepped outside. Instead of talking to the restaurant staff, Percy walked by and left. The gazes lingering on him didn’t bother him, even if it may look different from an outsider’s point of view. They saw Percy leave swiftly and disappear among the bustling civilians.

How much can I ask for these rings? They should be worth quite a bit. If I ask them to give me a price, I have to trust they don’t lie to me.

Percy walked around searching for the best shop, the more luxurious the shop looked the better. However, it didn’t take long before Percy was reminded of the clothes he wore.

“Right. I should change first. The more I look like a noble, the fewer reputable merchants will try to pull a fast one on me. My eyes will handle the rest,” Percy mumbled, though he was unsure how to feel about his train of thought and the plans he’d devised.
