B2 Chapter 15 - Geared Up

B2 Chapter 15 - Geared Up

The Seedling of the Infernal was much more potent than anything Percy had consumed. Even the Elite Demons didn’t push his Tier’s progress as much as the seedlings. Consuming the three Seedlings and the Demon corpses increased his Prosperity drastically while also pushing his Tier to the next rank.

[Your Tier increased by one rank.]

[Your Tier increased by one rank.]

The gains were tremendous, and Percy nearly fell victim to the addictive sensation of the mana floods. Two mana floods filled his body simultaneously, strengthening his body and dispersing his soreness.

Get your act together. You have to move!

He cursed himself as he stood there, not moving an inch.

Percy looked at his personal interface, assessing his current position and what he could possibly do to elevate his strength to the next level.

『Percy 』

[Ego – Coin of Prosperity]

[Tier] – [Elite-7]

[Gnoll Warrior (Elite –⭐) – [Blade Mastery⭐⭐⭐],[A Hunter’s Smell⭐], [Basic Strength Boost⭐]]

[Blueflame Hawk (Elite – ⭐) – [Hawk Eyes ⭐] – [Frostbite ⭐⭐⭐⭐]]

『Coin of Prosperity』

Prosperity: 4,998,415

➛Consume

The Prosperity count shocked him, yet Percy knew his Prosperity would hit a low point in the next few minutes.

What’s the best way to increase my strength? My Tier is already much higher than it used to be. The Lesser Demons should be easy prey now.

Percy closed his eyes briefly while using [Consume] on Prosperity. Various thoughts flashed through his mind, but a plan formed slowly. He was ready within seconds and jumped into action without hesitation.

[Blueflame Hawk Card’s Augmentation [Basic Agility Boost⭐⭐] has been unsealed. 750,000 Prosperity has been consumed.]

[Gnoll Warrior Card’s Augmentation [Berserk ⭐⭐⭐⭐] has been unsealed. 1,000,000 Prosperity has been consumed.]

[Blueflame Hawk Card’s Augmentation [Silent Reaper⭐] has been unsealed. 2,000,000 Prosperity has been consumed.]

Percy felt his Tier progress slowly but steadily, yet after two back-to-back rank-ups, he wasn’t thrilled at the sensation. What excited him much more was the lack of pain when he unsealed [Basic Agility Boost]. Percy had been worried his body would be torn apart like it had been the case when [Minor Strength Boost] had been first unsealed or with every upgrade of [Minor Strength Boost].

Fortunately, the mana floods absorbed his pain. That was at least what Percy used as reasoning to explain why he wasn’t in pain despite unlocking three Augmentations, with one permanently enhancing his Agility, considerably at that.

Berserk and Silent Reaper seem to be active Augmentations. I can feel the rage and anger of Berserk and the calm and stealthy nature of Silent Reaper. They’re opposites, but they will be useful when I learn how to wield them properly!

Percy grinned foolishly. The two Augmentations might have been expensive to upgrade, but his Ego never drained an unnecessarily high number of Prosperity Points. The pair of Augmentations was rare in the masses of Gnoll Warriors and Blueflame Hawks and was thus expensive. They would protect Percy and help him change the tides of the battle against the Demons and traitors. Percy sure hoped so.

But he wasn’t done yet. He had yet to consume his remaining Prosperity and unsheathed the Silvron Sword Artifact to Ego-enhance it.

The silverish-golden streams swirling around [Mana Slash], [Frostblade], and [Fiery Blade] were bright and indicated that Percy could unlock either of them. However, Percy wasn’t sure if the Silvron Sword Artifact could handle more than two runic enchantments. He didn’t want to break his only weapon, and Ego-engraved the only runic enchantment useful to him.

[Frostblade] shouldn’t be much more potent than the [Frostbite] Augmentation applied to the Sword, and [Fiery Blade] destroys the effect of [Frostbite] if I apply it. That leaves [Mana Slash]!

[Tempered Silvron Sword’s mana conductivity has been enhanced. 250,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

[Mana Conductivity reached its limit. [Mana Slash] is overflowing with Prosperity.

[Mana Slash] will be interwoven into the essence of the Tempered Silvron Sword.]

Percy focused on the vibrant mana conjuring alongside the Silvron Sword’s blade and observed how his Ego etched a new runic enchantment into it. However, that was not all he did.

[Tempered Silvron Sword’s mana veins have been enhanced. 5,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

[Tempered Silvron Sword’s durability has been enhanced. 5,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

[Tempered Silvron Sword’s mana veins have been purged. 20,000 Prosperity has been deducted.]

A dark, mushy liquid poured out of the Tempered Silvron Sword when he Ego-enhanced it one last time. It smelled and looked like the dark masses Percy’s body once released, but he didn’t pay much attention to it. He activated [Frostbite] to freeze the smelly mass, which fell to the ground with a thud once frozen.

[Mana Slash] was engraved on the Silvron Sword’s blade, and Percy was ready to act.

I have enough Prosperity left to create another healing potion – hopefully, I won’t need it, but you never know – and I will acquire more Prosperity soon.

He nodded slowly, checked his stuff, and turned back to leave the Wintermoon mansion. Percy was several times stronger than he used to be when he entered the Wintermoon mansion, and only a few minutes passed since then.

The corner of his lips curled into a devious grin as he emerged in the clearing where the battle between humans and demons had continued.

Percy joined the battle again, but what he saw surprised him.

The massive Doomfeeders were now dead, their bodies riddled with gaping holes in their chests, arms, and heads. The holes screamed ‘Staff of Leech’ to Percy, whose attention drifted to Melissa. Lady Reeze was drenched in sweat. Her smooth hair was wet and stuck to her face. She breathed heavily and was clearly having a hard time remaining on her feet. Melissa’s legs trembled violently even after she emptied the viscous content of two glass vials, yet Percy paid more attention to the missing Staff of Leech.

The staff was not in her hands anymore. Instead, Percy found it in the hands of another noble. To be precise, there were half a dozen nobles in-between Melissa and the young heir holding the Staff of Leech at this moment. The nobles were drenched in sweat and in a weakened state, just like Melissa.

Did they hand over the Staff of Leech to someone else to use more often? Was it for everyone to use?

That was very interesting, but it also meant more than half a dozen nobles were out of combat. Still, looking at the scene unfolding before him, Percy quickly realized how much the tides of the battle against the demons had changed in their favor.

The Pleacis were still alive, but most Lesser Demons had been killed. Even the masked traitors were retreated, even if only slightly.

The Staff of Leech outdid itself.

But to think that the masked traitors are afraid of the Staff of Leech. Am I the only one thinking that’s weird?

Just as the thought emerged in his mind, something unexpected happened.

The Pleacis turned away from the nobles’ retinues and stared at the masked traitors. They suddenly gained momentum and shot toward the traitors…and their bladed arms pierced through the chests of two of them. The only one left unscathed was the masked traitor wielding the black lightning. But he didn’t seem scared. On the contrary, the man glanced at his dying allies and turned to the nobles, only to shrug nonchalantly.

A raspy voice filled the air, “How unfortunate.”

Not even a full second later, black lightning currents swept in all directions, coating the masked traitor for a moment. The moment after the black lightning disappeared felt like an eternity. The masked traitor was no more. He disappeared into thin air, leaving his dying colleagues behind.

Did I jinx that? Well, I’m not really sorry about that. Good thing these traitors are dead. But…wait a moment. They never attacked anyone in the first place, did they? The only one killing others was the lightning guy.

Something felt wrong, but Percy couldn’t grasp it just yet. He only realized what was going on when the Pleacis tore the masked traitors apart, revealing their purple flesh and the dark veins covering their bodies.

The Pleacis devoured the dying traitors, which resulted in drastic changes. Their muscles bulged, and their bodies expanded. The Pleacis roared as if on ecstasy and in pain at the same time. Percy didn’t have to be highly perceptive to perceive the strength of the Pleacis skyrocket.

Dark veins like the ones the traitors had spread all across their bodies, and a violet hue gushed from their eyes. The two Elite Demons roared at the top of their lungs, savored the traitors until the last bite, and turned around to face the nobles and their retinues.

A moment later, the Doom of Power disappeared, and the walls of the Wintermoon mansion caved in. The mansion collapsed, but the cacophony of sounds didn’t silence the eerie sounds coming from the Moonlight Forest.

The Demons hiding in the Moonlight Forest were coming for them.

Oh shit. I take it back. No jinxing anymore. How about we reset the fight? Please…
