43. Get Caught (?)

43. Get Caught (?)

Ye Jiao brought the basket filled with bugs to the road in the small forest. The size of the forest for her mother was not too big, making it easy for her to reach the entrance. From her position, she could see the house where the servants stayed.

Her eyes locked on the rock path not far from her as she smiled deviously. It might not be in good condition because of the weeds and grasses around them, but it was still passable. At this time, her mind was conjuring another idea.

‘What if I make it harder for them to pass?’

Crouching on the ground, Ye Jiao put the bucket on the side before her hand started to pull one of the rocks. Her hand was holding onto the rock as she pulled them up. She was surprised when she found out that it was hard to move them.

“I thought that it’s going to be easy,” Ye Jiao sighed as she stared at her fingers, which was covered in bruises because of her attempt. Looking at how the weeds managed to grow well, she thought that the rocks were not properly placed.

However, her mind thought of a different idea.

“I’ll ask Mom for some weed seed. Grasses can easily grow anywhere in a matter of weeks. If I spread the seed here, they’ll be able to make the path harder to walk,” Ye Jiao smiled to herself. Without even the need of someone teaching her, her mind could come up with some simple plans.

After thinking that, Ye Jiao’s attention returned back to the bucket. She picked it up and threw the content out by swinging the bucket as hard as possible. Numerous insects fell to the ground. They quickly crawled all around, trying to find better place after being stacked up for a long time.

Ye Jiao hit the bottom of the bucket, pushing the leftover insects to come out. Looking at the scene before her, she really wanted to know if one would dare to come closer when they saw the scene.

One side, there were worms, beetles, and crickets.

Looking to the other side, there were a tangle of worms and centipedes.

As for the different side, there were several other bugs that she didn’t know the name.

‘I guess, I also don’t want to pass through this place.’

Even she herself wouldn’t want to walk through a place filled with numerous insects like this. Ye Jiao put the bucket on her back as she climbed the nearby tree, wanting to know how it looked like from above. Her lips curled up when she saw what a mess it was under the tree.

The bugs would surely roam around as they had to find suitable place to live. However, Ye Jiao was pretty sure that they wouldn’t be too far from here. She could also move the insects from the garden to here again. Because of the vegetable and flowers her mother planted, numerous insects came.

‘How about bees?’ Ye Jiao thought to herself. ‘I think no.’

She had to make sure that she has the capabilities to capture one first without harming her. These were only normal bugs that one could find in garden and forest. Bees were also normal, but Ye Jiao didn’t have the confidence to capture one. She might get stung.

“Maybe spider will do, but I haven’t seen one around here.”

Ye Jiao thought hard as she sat down on the branch. Suddenly, her ear heard the sound of footsteps coming to her place. With a swift movement, she climbed further and hid herself in the stack of leaves and branches. Thankfully, it was summer so the trees still had their leaves.

‘Who is it?’

From the direction of Wei Family houses, two people came to her sight.

One of them was a boy around the age of 13 years old. From the dark brown hair and the boy’s tall stature, Ye Jiao could easily recognize him as Wei Cheng. As for the other one was a young girl at the age of seven. Her long and brown hair fluttered along with her silk dress, following along with the wind.

‘Wei Cheng and Wei Mi.’

The two of them had visited her in the past, so Ye Jiao was not surprised that they would come to visit her again.

“Cheng Ge,” Wei Mi opened her mouth as she held her brother’s arm affectionally. “The servants start to act annoying and didn’t follow your order anymore.”

“I know,” Wei Cheng replied coolly.

Wei Mi pouted. “Is there nothing you can do? If they no longer listen to you, we’re just going to stay silent all the time?”

“Of course not,” Wei Cheng’s eyes glinted. “This is why we’re going to make a short visit today. If I can’t make her starve, at least, I can press her.”

“Cheng Ge has reached perfect control over the Eon Energy?” Wei Mi’s eyes sparkled. If her brother could master it so quickly, he would become a truly acclaimed genius in this kingdom. No one would be able to surpass him.

Wei Cheng chuckled. “How could it be that fast? I have just started to learn how to control my Eon Energy, so you might have to stay away from me later.”

“It’s not a big problem,” Wei Mi raised her thumb, showing that she understood.

“Good girl.”

On the tree, Ye Jiao was listening to their conversation with anger. She could guess that they were trying to make the servants send less food to this place because they mentioned the word ‘starve.’ Thankfully, their plan was thwarted as she remembered that the two of them had enough food to eat every day.

As the two of them walked closer, Wei Cheng’s sense told him that there was someone else nearby. His eyes narrowed.

“Cheng Ge?” Wei Mi asked. She didn’t understand why her brother would stop so suddenly.

“Wait a minute,” Wei Cheng replied. His eyes were scanning the surrounding carefully. When one trained in Eon Energy, their sense would be sharper such as hearing and vision. Even though he couldn’t see anyone, he could hear rustling movement not far from him.

Wei Mi tilted her head in confusion. “Cheng Ge, we can’t stay here for long. Mom says that we only have a short break before continuing our study.”

The one who supervised their training was their mother because Wei Shang was a busy man. He rarely had any time to spare, so their education was left to the school and their mother. If they were talented, he might give some special permission, but that was all there was.

Wei Cheng nodded his head. “I know. Just a moment.”

He walked forward a few steps as he tried to scan the surroundings. Suddenly, he raised his head to look at the trees.
