Violet city is a place steeped in tradition. From its classical Johtonian architecture to its gym which has been run by the Hayato family for generations. It can make you feel like you entered into a different time period.
Empress lands gently on a space meant specifically for fliers just outside a pokecenter. The sleek modern architecture of the pokecenter is in complete contrast to the surrounding buildings that all look to be at least one hundred years old. Stepping on solid ground I start stretching as we’ve been flying for well over twelve hours.
“Finally solid ground, I hope I never have to fly that long again.” I say grimacing.
Dad gives me a look “Weren't you the one who said you wanted to get here as soon as possible so you can book your gym match before the rush.”
I roll my eyes “That was before I learned how bad overnight flying is. I wasn’t able to sleep at all. Not that the ride was too uncomfortable Empress.” The Dragonite simply waves off my concern as if saying “No offense taken.” Me and Dad thank Empress for the ride before he returns her in a flash of red light.
As we walk into the pokecenter It is packed with many hopeful young trainers hoping to beat the eight gyms and win the league. More than two thirds won’t make it to their fourth badge. Scattered among the sea of wide eyed rookies are the trainers that have already gone pro. You can tell from the confidence they exude as they wait to register. It’s as if they already know they’ll be making it to the conference.
I’m pulled out of my musing as Dad pulls me aside to an unoccupied corner. “Listen, you'll need to register your new pokemon. All of them being from outside Indigo. They will probably want to bring in a pokemon professor to document these new pokemon. They will ask you where you found them and when they do, do not tell them about the book. I don’t know what will happen if they learn you have a book containing research into many pokemon outside Indigo but it’s not a risk worth taking. When they ask where you found or how you learned about them tell them it’s a family secret. Clans are very protective of their secrets and have made sure to lobby for the ability to tell the league to screw off when discussing such things. Also make sure you are present for the exam. We don’t want any incidents regarding you know who.” Dad says pointing toward my shadow.
A “kuku” can be heard coming from within my shadow. At this point Coraline has made herself a permanent resident of my shadow which she prefers over her pokeball.
Looking Dad in the eye I give him a nod “I understand I’ll make sure nothing happens.”

We stand at the back of the long line which despite its length only has us waiting about ten minutes to get to the front. Walking up to the counter I say to the nurse Joy “Hi, I’d like to sign up for the league and I have four pokemon I need to register to my team along with a check up for my whole team. I’ll also need a room.”
The nurse Joy smiles “Of course, please fill out this form to the league and this form for the pokemon you are registering. We will also need to examine your new pokemon for health concerns. Please place your pokemon on the tray. I’ll get your room key in a second.”
Before the nurse Joy gets a chance to turn around I say “One last thing, the four pokemon I’m registering are undocumented species.”
Joy’s eyes widen in shock “One second please if what you’re saying is true I’ll need to make a call. One moment please.” Joy disappears into a back room not returning for a couple minutes. When she does she says “Sorry about that. A professor will be on his way to speak with you and take a look at your pokemon.” Joy reaches below under the counter before pulling out a key. “Here is a key to your room. I can take your registered pokemon in the meantime. You can fill out the form while you wait. We will contact you when your pokemon are ready for pick up along with when the professor arrives.”
I give a simple thank you as I place Wiggles and Operas’ balls on the tray. Taking the forms I step over to where Dad is waiting for me and we head up to our room.

(Meanwhile at the lab of professor Elm)
Professor Elm was about to finally go to bed after two all-nighters due to the insistence of his research assistants. However, before he can he receives a call from one of the pokecenter located in Violet city. Half awake he picks up the phone.
“Hello professor, This is the pokecenter located on the main street of Violet city. We just received a trainer claiming to have caught four pokemon that are undocumented.”
Before Joy can finish her sentence Elm shoots up from his bed and yells into the phone “I’ll be there soon!”. Running down the hall he yells out to the first researcher he finds “Get a kadabra ready to travel to Violet city as soon as you can!”
Running back to his office he gets on his computer to start a video call. After a few moments of ringing an older man with gray hair appears on the monitor. In the background many different pokemon are running around knocking over shelves and tables. “Professor Elm, too, what do I owe the pleasure of? I seem to be in a bit of a situation at the moment.” The man says jovially, laughing to himself.
Out of breath Elm struggles to speak “Sam … Samuel. Trainer. Violet city. Unknown pokemon.”
“Elm calm down, I can’t understand what you’re saying.” As the man says this a loud crashing noise can be heard. The man looks to the side and grimaces before yelling into The background “Daisy have you found their pokeballs yet!” a distant “Not yet professor!” before he sighs, turning back to the monitor.
Elm finally catching his breath says “Samuel I just got a call from a pokecenter in Violet city. They’re saying a trainer came in claiming to have caught four different undocumented species.”
“Four!” Samuel Oak says surprised. “Which pokecenter?”
Elm replies “The one on mainstreet”
Samuel Oak picks a pokeball off his belt releasing an alakazam beside him. Samuel Oak yells out "Daisy I'm leaving the lab in your hands for a bit!" Samuel looks at Elm saying “I’ll meet you there.” before signing off.
