A lot changed within the past year. I grew another inch, finally leaving me at five feet tall. I wish I grew a little bit more but I’ll take what I can get. I celebrated my fourteenth birthday. Wiggles evolved a couple months ago and I’m so proud of him for it. Dad put me and my team through what he called his top ranger bootcamp which pushed me and my team to our absolute limit and was aided by a training technique I learned from Mom’s book called gravity training. It was a random note left by one of the book’s previous owners under the entry for Clefable. It states that using gravity on a pokemon while training can help further build their strength and agility. Teaching Wiggles gravity became the top of the priority list I had for him. It took a month and evolving but he eventually got the hang of it allowing us to push our training even further.

The book also allowed me to find a few new friends that joined my team. My first new friend was a hatenna I named Rapunzel.The book warned me that the hatenna line are powerful empaths and can feel emotions as sounds that can become really loud depending on the strength of the emotions leading them to lash out.
Meeting Rapunzel I tried to make sure to remain calm and keep my emotions in check, but to my surprise she was the one who approached me. She even led me to meet her mother. Rapunzel’s mother was a very powerful Hatterene who luckily took a liking to me considering she could kill me with a thought. Due to being a powerful psychic type she was able to communicate with me through telepathy. She taught me a lot about what it meant to be a fairy type and the intricacies of fairy type energy. She taught me that the power of fairies comes from belief and that powerful fairies can use belief to alter aspects of themself and even shape the world around them.
Hatterene eventually ended up becoming a second teacher to me. While Dad trained me physically Hatterene trained my mind and how to better utilize fairy energy and train my team’s power using belief. When I showed Hatterene Mom’s book she took special interest in info on her own line as one of the excerpts contain information on a way to dull her line’s powers as an Empath using dark type energy to create a barrier that dulls the emotions perceived through it. As thanks for this new knowledge she allowed Rapunzel to journey with me as long as I promised to take good care of her and to not teach her this technique until she fully evolved stating she would become dependent on it and make her weak. I of course agreed and Rapunzel joined the team. She dove headfirst into training and always came running up to anyone on the team feeling strong emotions in order to build up her tolerance so they wouldn't be a hindrance in battle. I sometimes wonder if she’s some sort of masochist.

The second friend to join was a carbink who I named Twinkle based on how his gems twinkled in light. I met him deep in a cave system inside of a place called Oni mountain. The book told me that a carbink colony lived deep underground. It took three days of traveling through cave systems before we found the colony.
They were Initially scared of us but soon warmed up to us after me and Dad helped defend the colony from a gang of sableyes. I told them all about the surface and how I’m putting a team together. I was able to convince one to join me so he can explore the surface and grow stronger. Twinkle said goodbye to the colony, and the colony gave him well wishes and saw him off. When we reached the surface Twinkle was enamored.
Twinkle became fast friends with the rest of the team as his wanderlust was very endearing. Rapunzel and Twinkle became fast friends as Rapunzel kept following him around as his excitement was very loud to Rapunzel which she found to be good training for raising her tolerance. Twinkle’s wanderlust did get him into trouble occasionally as he would try to approach dangerous pokemon, or when I had to explain to him the dangers of staring at the sun.

Coming across Gemini was actually a coincidence. I came across the cutiefly stuck in an ariados web just as the ariados was coming back to feed. The ariados spotting me shoots a pin missile my way causing me to dodge into a roll I immediately released my team. I order Wiggles to defense curl into a rollout while telling Opera to do hit and run tactics with peck. Rapunzel starts peppering ariados from a distance with a mix of confusion and disarming voice. Twinkle hovers in front of me using ancient power to levitate rocks in front of us to act as a shield in case I’m targeted again.
Only a few seconds after the fight starts Wiggles makes a sharp turn to make another pass and smashes right into ariados just as Rapunzel lands one last confusion. The one sided beatdown proves to be too much and the ariados faints. Twinkle drops his ancient power as a run up to the web pulling off the cutiefly who appears to be uninjured. As we head back to our camp cutiefly doesn’t leave my side and decides when offered to join my team so I name him Gemini.
Out of the entire team I would say Gemini is the most improved. While he may be tiny he’s got a massive amount of heart. When he first started gravity training he couldn’t even move let alone fly, but after a month of hard work and determination he was finally able to pick his little body off the ground. Gemini has quickly become the fastest member of the team by far.

My last new friend was one of my most sought after to Dad’s dismay. Within the book there is an entry that speaks of a pokemon that disguises itself as a pikachu and that it does this just so someone will be its friend. What’s under its costume is unknown and all the book says regarding it is “WARNING,Under no circumstance look under a mimikyu’s disguise. Looking under the disguise of a mimikyu is FATAL.” However, the book also says “Mimikyus actively try to prevent people from looking under their disguise and will fight to prevent such an occurrence. If someone looks under its disguise it will cry.”
It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever read. Cursed to kill all who look at you. Hiding yourself as another so someone might be your friend. I knew then that I wanted to be a mimikyu’s friend.
It took eleven months until I finally found one. When I found her the poor thing was alone. As I called out to the mimikyu it looked around looking to see if there was anyone else around, probably thinking something like “there’s no way someone is calling me.” Eventually an arm made from shadow came out from under the costume before pointing at itself, its head tilting in confusion. When it realized that yes I wanted it to approach it ran over to my feet. The fake head looking up at me with it wagging its stick tail. As I began to pet it on its fake head it let out a “kukuku” along with a distorted sound of what might have been giggling. As I began to ask some questions I learned that the mimikyu was female and that she never had a friend before. I decided then that even If she doesn’t want to join my team I’m not leaving her alone and that she could join me anyway. When I explained that I’m a trainer and asked her if she wanted to join my team she started nodding her fake head vigorously. Mimikyu began running and hopping around me in a circle then proceeded to hop into my shadow vanishing only to stick her head out letting out a “kuku”. I decided to name her Coraline.
Dad was not impressed when I returned to show off my new friend. But even he couldn’t resist Coraline’s friendliness. One night I woke up to do my business only to discover Dad asleep with Coraline in his arms. I gave her a thumbs up as I walked past.

It’s our last day in Kitakami. Dad and Empress are currently packing everything up while I have one last training session before we leave. Everyone is paired up for their own training exercises. Wiggles and Opera are playing a game where they both sing at each other and the first one to fall asleep loses. Gemini is working on evasion as Twinkle shoots rock blasts trying to hit Gemini to train his aim along with how fast he can shoot. Rapunzel and Coraline are playing hide and seek with Rapunzel using her empathy to locate which shadow Coraline is hiding within.
I smile as I watch my team train before calling for a team meeting. Everyone lines up in a row and I say “Today is our last day in Kitakami. I want to let you all know how proud I am of all of you for how much effort all of you have been putting into your training.” The whole team cheers before I continue “However the real challenge hasn’t even started yet. Our training has just begun and the gym challenge is going to really push us past our current limits, but together as teammates, as friends, as a family we will overcome anything in our way.” The team cheers even louder than before. I return everyone and attach the six balls on my belt and walk over to Dad putting on Empress’s harness and saddle.
Dad turns to me and smiles “That was a nice speech you put together”
“Thanks I thought of it last night.” I respond
I sit myself in the saddle with dad behind me “I can’t wait to finally challenge a gym, I can’t decide who to challenge first”
“The traditional first gym is in Violet city” Dad says
I grin “Then we’re off to Violet city. Empress up!”
