Chapter- 3

"Can I come along with you?" asked Nate. "I want to take a look around the town." Robert looked at Nate suspiciously for a brief moment before answering, "Sure, I don't want to go there alone anyway."

The pair left the house and started to make their way across flat grassland towards the town. Robert's walking pace slowed down before he asked, "I wanted to ask you something. What was a kid like you doing in the forest alone?" The smile on his face had disappeared, and he wore a serious expression. The muscles in his big build were tense, and Nate knew that if he gave a wrong answer, Robert would strike him immediately. With his current strength, he knew he couldn't win a fight against Robert.

"I woke up in the forest with no recollection of what happened," he answered half honestly, as he didn't know how he ended up in the forest out of all places. Nate knew this wasn't enough to convince Robert.

"Your wife said don't tell anyone but, since you are her husband... I don't care." Nate said carefully as he slowly created a few distances between them.

"If you thought I am not a human, you are right. But before-" Nate's sentence was cut off as Robert suddenly launched a punch at his face. Despite the distance between them, Robert's speed allowed him to quickly cover the ground.

Fortunately, Nate was able to use his quick reflexes to dodge the punch by bending backward.

"What the..." Nate was taken aback by speed of Robert. He had never seen a human with that kind of power.

[Warning! Unknown energy is radiating from the target.]

Before Nate could even think, Robert launched another punch at him. Catching him off guard, the punch landed straight into Nate's stomach.

"Ugh... this hurt a lot." Nate coughed out blood. "Are you even human?" Nate asked with blood dripping down his mouth.

Robert didn't utter a single word, but his body language spoke volumes. He stepped forward, his fist clenched and ready to strike. He launched his fist toward Nate's stomach, aiming to deliver a devastating blow.

Nate was ready for the attack and moved his hands to block it. But just as Robert's fist was about to collide with Nate's defense, it vanished and reappeared in Nate's face with lightning speed.

The hit left Nate stunned, his head ringing with pain. 'I've only just been resurrected, and I refuse to lose to a mere human like you!' he yelled in his mind, determined not to let Robert get the upper hand.

[Senses of the Origin level up to level 2!]

Nate smirked at the notification. His eyes started to glow faint light purple.

"Impressive. You took two hits from me and still standing," said Robert lowering his stance for a kick attack. "Let's see if you will survive the third one."

He launched a spinning kick toward Nate, the speed of his attack making it sound like a sword slicing through the air. But Nate, with his heightened senses from leveling up, was able to follow the attack and expertly dodge it.

Robert's eyes widened in surprise at Nate's quick reflexes. Without wasting any time, he began raining down a barrage of kicks, each one faster than the last. Nate managed to dodge every single one, but it was a struggle. His head was still ringing from the earlier hit, and he was having trouble keeping up with Robert's relentless assault.

Despite the challenges, Nate remained focused, waiting for the perfect moment to strike back. He knew he couldn't let this opportunity pass him by, and he was determined to take down Robert once and for all.

'This is it!' Nate saw the hole in Robert's attacks. Just as Robert extended his leg for the attack, Nate counter-kicked Robert's other legs with minimum force to make him fall down without harming him.

Nate's counter-kick was successful and Robert fell down flat with his butt.

"HAHAHHA!" Robert started laughing excitedly, "Well done! You passed the test. Not only that, you are the first the make me fall down on my arse!" He got up, patting his back to remove the dust no longer paying attention to Nate.

Nate was still cautious of Robert but the system made him relax.

'It took a punch to the face and a kick to the stomach and almost another death for skill and 5 mana. It is not a lot but it's better than nothing,' Nate thought to himself. 'But what did he use? Humans used to be so weak. Is he just special or are all humans got stronger?'

"What was that for? You didn't even let me finish what I was saying. I have no intention to harm humans. Even if I want to, I can't," said Nate.

"I know," said Robert smiling again. "I know my wife wouldn't bring a monster. But I wanted to test. You are very strong but now I am sure you are not a danger to us."

"If you knew then why? You could have killed me," said Nate annoyed.

"You killed the wolves, didn't you? I wanted to know how strong you are," said Robert with satisfaction. "You could have kicked me with more power but you didn't. You only wanted to knock me down."

Robert looked at Nate and noticed that he was no longer injured. Robert didn't know how strong Nate is but this was his first time seeing this kind of healing speed.

"Your power and speed. They are far beyond what humans are capable of. Is it magic?" asked Nate. Even the system could not identify the energy and power used by Robert. He cannot either.

"Haha! You underestimated our power, young man. It is not magic. It is something even better! It is the power of gods! Atwon!" said Robert proudly.

'Atwon? I have never heard of that.' Nate thought 'The world has changed. I need to learn more again'

As they made their way towards the town, Nate couldn't help but be impressed by the paved stone brick paths and the beautiful buildings that lined the streets. The town wasn't particularly large, but it had a lively atmosphere, with people milling about and going about their daily business.

The buildings themselves were well-maintained, with brightly painted facades and neatly trimmed gardens. The town had a warm and welcoming feel, and Nate couldn't help but feel drawn in by its charms.

As they walked, they passed by various shops and stalls, each one offering a variety of goods and services. There was a bakery, a blacksmith's forge, and even a small inn with a cozy-looking dining room.

As they walked through the town, Nate couldn't help but notice that the people they passed by seemed to be avoiding Robert, looking at him with disrespect and even hatred. The guards in particular seemed to be giving him a wide berth, their eyes filled with suspicion and hostility.

Thud.

Suddenly, a man walking in the opposite direction collided with Robert's shoulder, clearly on purpose. But Robert didn't seem to mind, brushing it off with a shrug.

"Don't mind them," Robert said to Nate. "They don't know the world beyond the town, so they want to be protected at all costs. You're lucky you met Kun and me. If you had encountered anyone else, you might not have been so fortunate."

He paused, eyeing Nate thoughtfully. "I assume Kun warned you about this, but just in case she didn't, make sure to act like a human around here."

"Got it," said Nate. He knew that the humans doesn't like other races but why are they hostile toward Robert? He was intrigued.

Finally, they arrived at the guild house. It was a majestic three-story building, with a distinctive symbol emblazoned on the front: a humanoid angel inside a globe-like circle.

Nate's anger and disgust were immediately aroused as he saw the symbol. It was one that he had created, but it had been altered and was no longer the original design. The hexagon had been replaced by the humanoid angel, and Nate couldn't wait to meet the bastards who were running the guild and responsible for this disgrace.
