'I see, seems like I will be starting again...' sighed Nate. 'After all my efforts.. such a shame. At least I have the system to help me regain my powers.'
Kun's eyes fixed on the ground as she finished burying the guard, Dan. "Rest in peace, my friend," she whispered a hint of sadness in her voice.
Straightening up, Kun turned to Nate and gave him a determined look. "Come on, we don't have much time. It's going to take us about an hour to get to my house on foot, so we need to get moving." She began to gather the scattered herbs from her bags.
As they set off, the uneasy silence between them lingered. Kun kept looking back at Nate from time to time. She still seemed wary of Nate, but he didn't let it bother him. He was figuring out how to use the system to get answers to some of his questions.
'System, do you know where I am?'
[I am afraid I cannot answer the question due to the restrictions.]
'So much for the system that is written in legends.' frowned Nate with an irritated smile as he continued, "So, what questions can you answer, my lovely system?"
[I will provide information to the user when the situation is required.]
Nate frustrated, kick a small rock in front of him, launching it with force before colliding with a tree, much to the startle of Kun. This finally made Kate break the silence ice.
"So, Nate. You said you were an Origin. I haven't heard of that race before. Are there a lot of your kind around?" asked Kun looking over her shoulder as she walked.
"No." bluntly answered Nate before adding, "There were a lot of us. But no more due to your kind."
"I see... I am sorry to hear. Humans are... not really peaceful toward other races to say the least." said Kun before the uncomfortable silence returned.
They continued to walk for a moment before coming to a cross a drith path as the jungle thinned out.
"We just need to follow this path to reach the house," said Kun. Her eyebrows frowned a little before saying with a serious face, "You must follow one rule, Nate. No one else should know you aren't a human."
Nate's eyes widen a little at her surprise statement. 'Pro-Human policy?' Nate thought, 'I don't know the current state of the world, but this isn't a good sign.'
He answered, "Alright, considering the state that I am in, it shouldn't be difficult."
"Thank you. We should be arriving soon," said Kun as a fairly big house with a backyard surrounded by low stone walls came into the view of the two.
"Robert! I'm back!" shouted Kun as she and Nate arrived at the front door. The house has caught Nate's attention ever since it came into his view. The way that it is built is nothing like he has ever seen before. 'How is this possible? The stone bricks are expertly laid. And glass used to be so rare. How far did the world advance? How long was I dead?'

Just as Nate was lost in thought, the door barged open, accompanied by the noises of children talking and laughing.
"Kun! you're back. Did you get the herbs?" A tall muscular lean man wearing a simple white cotton shirt with black pants asked Kun as he pulled her in for a hug. Nate noticed that the man's face was filled with many scars.
He asked, "Where's Dan?" Kun looked at the man's eyes with gloom. "We were attacked by wolves. He... he didn't make it," answered Kun as she closed her eyes to break eye contact. "I see... How about you? Are you hurt?" asked the man worriedly.
"Don't worry, I am fine. Just a few scratches. Let me introduce you to the... umm... the kid that saved me. Robert, this is Nate," Kun said nervously as she didn't know how else to identify Nate. The man looked at Nate with a big smile saying, "Thank you for saving Kun. I am Robert, Kun's husband." After carefully looking at Nate, Robert's big smile turned into one of a confused as he asked, "Uhh... How did a kid like you manage to save my wife from wolves?"
"I didn't do much to help. The guard had already done a lot of work, injuring the wolves. I just helped to distract and chase them away." Nate greeted Robert.
"I see. Anyway, nice to meet you, Nate. Come on inside, you guys must be tired." said Robert with a smile to greet Nate. As Nate walked inside the house, he became more amazed at the pieces of furniture. 'The vases, they look like they had been made by a master crafter but not so much care.' Nate thought as his keen eyes scan through the house. They were wooden chairs and a table with a small bookshelf with a writing desk near them. However, his thoughts were cut short by a running child who collided with Nate.
"Oi, I said no running inside," yelled Robert at the child. "Sorry, Ben and I are playing tag and got a little carried away hehe." said the child. She is a young girl around the age of 10 with short hair.
"Sorry about that, Nate. She is Nelli. You might be just a few years older than her," said Robert as he and Nate sat down on the chairs while Kun went to the back of the house.
"Kun and I have been taking care of orphaned kids who lost their parents in recent battles. We've taken in three so far: Nelli, who you've met, Ben the oldest, and Jamil, the youngest." said Robert with a caring smile before adding, "Unfortunately, Jamil fell ill about a week ago and his condition hasn't improved. That's why Kun and Dan decided to go into the woods to search for herbs that might help him."
"Can you tell me more about the illness? Do you know if it's terminal or contagious?" Nate had read many books throughout his life and had gained some medical knowledge. He asked about the illness not out of concern for the boy, but rather to try and narrow down his location based on the name of the illness and the symptoms. Different cultures often give different names to diseases, and Nate was hoping to use this information to guess the general location he is in.
"We are not sure about what kind of disease it is but Kun discovered it is not terminal but rather he got infected," said Robert, looking concerned. "Anyway, What were-" just as he was about to ask Nate a question, Kun came back into the room interrupting him.
"Darling, I need to prepare the herbs to make medicine for Jamil, can you go and report Dan's death to the guild?" said Kun tiredly.
'Guild!?' Nate suddenly became excited. He recognized the familiar name, finally giving him hope and direction. The name that carried many fond memories. It was the name of the organization he established, The Adventure Guild.
