Chapter 12: 1,398th Cosmic War of Humans and Goblins, III

The entrance of the Goblin-King was accompanied by trumpet sounds.

A piercingly menacing aura could be felt from him. An aura so ominous and authoritative, it could make one kneel. And that's exactly what the soldiers did. They weren't able to resist against the aura of Goblin-King Aramelion and kneeled before him.

The ones who weren't kneeling before kneeled shortly after hearing Aramelion’s commanding voice.

“Kneel.”

This was the power which the Humans couldn't overcome for all of eternity. However, this time was different. There were people who could resist the Goblin-King’s aura and bravely opposed him.

Elias, Avina, Lucas and of course, Borna were all still standing. And numerous others too.

Aramelion made an intrigued expression before commanding, “Go forth and conquer what's rightfully ours.”

At his command, the dragons and giants marched forward. The Goblin Generals, however, stayed by his side. There were five of them.

Avina screamed, “Bany! Don't lose to those dragons! Defeat ‘em!”

Of course, the relatively-tiny Goblin Dragons could never beat a Godly-Dragon no matter how many came at it. The Bane Wyrm breathed out its poison and the Goblin Dragons fell to the ground. Taking down the giants marching on the ground beneath along with them.

That was the situation in the skies. On the ground, the Giant Goblins caused havoc. There was no difference between a giant and normal mutant goblin except their size, but still, somehow the Human forces were struggling. Maybe it was due to fear? Indeed, everything bigger than them would cause despair. That's how Humans worked.

But.. that wasn't the case… Taking a closer look at the Goblin-King, one could see him radiating power. And that faint, translucent energy was being sent to his army. That energy was enhancing their power.

“I can't wait any longer. I'm going in.”

Elias, who had been waiting all this while, finally got fed up. The war would end if the Goblin-King was killed. So, he was aiming for the King directly.

Borna said, “I'll join you. You can't defeat him while he is with his generals. I'll take care of them.”

Elias nodded.

While Avina and Lucas single-handedly took care of the giants and dragons, Elias and Borna sneaked about the battlefield to get closer to the King.

“Oh my. It seems we have some unnoticed pests.” The Goblin-King’ lips moved ever-so-slightly as he elegantly moved his hand.

The five generals stepped in front of them in a way to guard the King, but Borna unsheathed her sword while warning, “I’m your opponent.”

No matter how strong she was, could she really take on five Goblin-Generals? It was impractical.

Distant sword slashes and metal sounds could be heard as Borna and the generals began fighting while moving farther and farther from the King. Borna succeeded in isolating the King. Now all that was left was to checkmate the King.

Elias smirked. “Now that your servants are gone, it seems like you have to do the work yourself.”

“That may be true, but it isn’t necessary for me to unmount the horse.”

“You think so?” Elias’ provoking tone caused the eyebrows of the Goblin-King to twitch ever-so-slightly.

“I’ll make you unmount.”

Elias raised his hands and took a battle stance while activating his [Blaze] skill.

However, even after activating his skill, the Goblin-King wore a calm expression. It startled Elias a bit.

Elias cast the fire balls at the Goblin-King, but the fireballs seemed to explode before it even came in contact with Aramelion. But, it did come in contact with ‘something’ because the fireballs exploded on him, but he remained unscathed.

He cast more and more. But it was of no use. Then finally, he charged at Aramelion. But before he could even punch him, he hit something like a ‘wall’ and fell. His nose was bleeding like he had hit some kind of invisible wall. Wait… Invisible wall? That must be it.

Aramelion smirked as he arrogantly said, “What? I thought you’d make me dismount already?”

Still, Elias didn’t give up shooting the fireballs because he had a theory and wanted to test it out.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Then finally, he stopped.

He looked at Aramelion from head to toe and smiled as he finally confirmed his hypothesis to be true. Aramelion looked disgruntled as he saw Elias’ smiling face.

“You. Why are you smiling like an idiot?”

“Ah, you really wanna know?”

Once again, the provocative tone of voice caused the eyebrows of Aramelion to twitch ever-so-slightly.

“Fine, I’ll tell you.” He paused for a moment intentionally and while sniggering at him, he said, “There is a cool down period for this skill, right?”

Aramelion’s eyes widened. “H-How..”

“Well, it was pretty easy to notice. After I finished my barrage of fireballs, I noticed that the hem of your shirt had burned a little.” Aramelion looked down at the hem of his shirt and confirmed that it indeed was burnt. Elias continued, “Thus, my hypothesis was right.”

The Goblin-King rebuked, “Even if you know that, I have plenty of other skills. Think you can still defeat me?”

“Only time will tell, but my first goal is to make you dismount your horse.”

Aramelion looked exasperated as he wore a ‘try it if you can’ expression on his face.

I have to time it right or else I’m as good as dead meat.

Elias began praying inwardly as he began casting fireballs.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Then there needs to be a pause.

Boom! Boom!

Pause again.

Boom!

Now!

Elias leapt atop the horse and kicked off the Goblin-King. Or, he thought he did because in the next second, while he was still in the air, a hand grabbed his right leg and twisted it. Elias fell down with a thud and screamed in excruciating pain.

“Uwaah!”

The previously untouchable Aramelion had now unmounted his horse and stood menacingly as he glared at Elias.

“You don’t know what you just did. A mere newborn sentient being who hasn’t even lived a hundred dares to oppose me! Hahaha! It’s baffling. Truly baffling.”

Elias struggled to stand, but nonetheless smirked at Aramelion. “I told you. I would dismount you from that damn horse.”

Aramelion, now having reached the limit, pulled at his hairs while screaming, “Again and again! You are an insignificant human! So helpless in the power of the Goblin-God. Get that into your head!”

Elias used the healing lotion which was given to him by Borna before the battle and stared at Aramelion’s deep, red eyes. “It might be true that I am just an insignificant human. It might be true that you had won the past Great Wars. But, it won’t stay like that forever. I’ll be the one to change it. I’ll kill you and eradicate all goblins from Palia!”

[The skill, Dark Eruption Lv.12, is activating!]

[The perk, Goblin Shield, is in effect!]

[The perk, Ember Ignition, is in effect!]

[The perk, Blessing of the Water-God, is in effect!]

The skill’s power was enhanced by the perks and an intense aura emanated from Elias’ body.

“This is the day I have been training for!”

Aramelion activated his own skill and a majestic sword appeared out of thin air. “Come, Ignix.”

The black flames collided with Aramelion’s Ignix. But the sword just emanated a red hue before sucking the magic power.

“Not enough!” Elias roared and poured more mana into the skill.

[The skill, Fire Storm Lv.10, is activating!]

Then the entire area was enveloped in bright yellow flames which seemed to decimate everything in its path without discrimination.

“Is that all you’ve got?!”

Aramelion pointed Ignix at the heavens and a translucent, potent energy came down at the blade. The Ignix’s blade, now powered by the dynamic energy, glowed once again, but this time, it looked like fire itself dwelled on the blade’s surface. He pointed it at Elias and cast it.

A beam of light emerged from the blade and crossed the air like a laser.

There was only one way to defend against this..

[The skill, Solar Pulsar Lv.1, is activating!]

Right then, a beam of energy came down from the heavens once again, but this time, it did not enter a blade, but rather entered a human.

Elias roared as his entire body became coated with the immense energy. “Come at me! I’ll show you what I’ve got!”

Elias rushed toward Aramelion. Aramelion on the other hand, also rushed toward Elias. Both of them clashed. Elias used his fists against Aramelion’s Ignix. His fists were guarded by [Solar Pulsar], so he didn’t receive any damage.

Smack! Shing!

It continued for a long time before Elias activated another one of his skills.

[The skill, Fire Storm Lv.11, is activating!]

The fire, now enhanced by the perks, burned even more fiercely than before. He cast it at Aramelion while at the same time exchanging blows. Aramelion too, did not sit by idly and let it happen, he cast water magic to negate the skill, but too bad for him. Elias had the [Blessing of the Water-God] perk, so his fire was immune to water.

“Wha.. How? How is it..” Aramelion stared at Elias dumbfoundedly before continuing attacking him shortly after.

“Hehe..Ehahahaha! This is getting good! I’m liking it!” Elias laughed like a maniac while smacking Aramelion on the face.

Aramelion staggered a bit before hardening his expression. There was only one way he could escape from this difficult situation. He had to borrow ‘his’ powers.

“Oh almighty Goblin-God. The savior of the weak. The banisher of evil. Please grant me your powers!” Aramelion cried out to the heavens. There was still silence in the beginning, but then…

“Arghh!!!”

A brilliant green light emerged from the clouds and showered its blessing on Aramelion. His appearance changed. The elegant looking Goblin-King now became someone unrecognizable. Horns grew from his head. His previously two arms, now multiplied and became four. His lean but fit body now buffed up so much that his clothes seemed too small. Purple rays of unsettling aura crept out of him.

His aura had intensified in the meantime. The pressure in the surroundings increased and the force of the wind increased heavily. Indeed, this was the transformation of the Goblin-King the ancestors of the Humans so-bitterly feared.

He slowly lifted up his head menacingly and glared at Elias.
