Preface
Seraph had asked me to write down my thoughts about the Ordo Disaster which officially ended a couple days ago when the Ordo Outbreak Barrier fell down. Normally, as Kosmos said, this would be Alexander’s job but he’s currently in a coma as of writing this, the details of which will be explained later in the report. Because the Disaster's denouement had been registered in the System's eyes, that meant my status as a Pseudo-Slayer was taken away. Biologically, that meant my mana nervous system was stripped from me and I’m currently suffering from what’s basically a bad fever with Althea. Thus, I apologize in advance for the poor quality of this report.
So to begin, I will go through the events chronologically but provide additional information on certain events for context.
Note: This will go over what happened inside the Ordo Outbreak Barrier. Outside the Barrier, that’s for Kosmos to explain. To quickly summarize: him alongside an army of Slayers fought and subjugated nine Cosmic Beasts, occupying them so they couldn’t organize properly to tackle the invasion within the Barrier.
Summary
System Articles
On March 14th, 21XX, the Ordo Disaster began. I was working at my internship with Systemic Articles, an item trading company, alongside the soon-to-be international sensation Alexander Shen. Around five o’clock—I might be mistaken about the exact hour but the detail is unimportant—we received the first alert from the Ordoian government warning us about the outbreak.
(Later, it is revealed that the first incident site is Nacht Redirection Facility where Kreutz had came in from.)
At the time of warning, Alexander was on the ground floor with another friend of ours from Ordo University who'd stopped to visit: Damien Fayer, the eldest son of the Chief Slayer of the American Alliance, Duskfire. Later, it would be revealed to us that our friend is something special: a Scion, a half-monster half-human hybrid found only in his father's homeworld (as he is an outworlder). For the Fayers, they are half-demons.
Hearing the alert, we regrouped using the emergency stairwell and came onto a random floor where we saw the first inklings of the invasion. Here, we witnessed Pereyra, the Lesser Watcher, summoning monsters to siege the city.
System Articles was attacked thereafter. Us three underwent the process to become Pseudo-Slayers; however, because it was the first time for myself and Damien, it took longer comparatively to Alexander who had already become one during Hangzhou. He was the only fighter capable of defending the floor against a horde of goblins. Easy monsters to handle, but for the future Conqueror who hadn't felt truly threatened for years, it took some time for him to re-enter the 'groove' so-to-speak.
When the attack finished, the Five Pillars activated and Ordo Outbreak Barrier was erected. Before its completion, Kosmos flew out to combat the Cosmic Beasts beyond the Barrier that had been summoned by the Lesser Caller, Kreutz. As a result, he was no longer an active member of the subjugation team.
We met the security advisor, Roswell Kirk, and strategized an evacuation plan by going through the underground tunnels used to transport high-value items to a designated vault. During the evacuation, we encountered an A-Rank monster, a Wolva, and almost died if an A-Ranker hadn’t come to the rescue: Carn, Predator of Predators.
After killing the Wolva, he volunteered to escort us through the tunnels; however, this was a ploy to rob System Articles of the items it had out of disgusting greed. He murdered the CEO and mustered a small gang of Pseudos. Alexander tried to stop him, knowing Carn would kill thousands, but failed to do so and I was stabbed in the process. There was an entire show of regrets and angst but I would gladly take another knife to hurt that bastard more.
I digress. This wasn’t the end of Carn’s journey but that will be explained later.
Black Paladin Station
Using an Ordo Teleport Scroll, we escaped to Black Paladin Station, a metro station, hoping Slayers were holed up there. Our bet paid off as a team from Glory Guild, Team Luster, was present: Team Leader Jury, Hidden, Montana, and Problem. Problem is an A-Rank ritualist and a former student of Master Alzahrani; after the events of Operation Scorcher, he would be a future member of the Dawn Baptists.
While I recovered from my injuries, Jury explained to Alexander and Damien that Archknell, the Guild Master of Glory Guild, was assigned to subjugate Caller A (who would later be known as Pereyra), wanting them to join due to Seraph’s recommendation. This, as we discovered later, was because of the actions of our otherselves had taken in the ‘Previous Earth’.
Right before we were taken to Ordo University where Althea Shen and Vernon Hugo were waiting for us, Black Paladin Station was attacked by invisible monsters known as Incogs. We barely escaped only to meet the Caller itself, one of the five members of the Kreutz Sungrazers serving Sirius Aethfell, the villain of this story.
We survived the fight thanks to Archknell coming in at the nick of time. Then, we drove off to OU and reunited with the little ones.
Operation Scorcher
The next day, Tewfik, the Lesser Cutter, attacked Pillar Vesper and destroyed it in a single slash, killing Firebrand in the process. We would later deduce its special ability: a conceptual power that altered its attacks—‘an attack that could cut’ into ‘an attack that must cut’.
We continued on with the operation to subjugate Pereyra: Operation Scorcher. We deduced that Pillar Dawns was next, the borough we were stationed in. The first action was to survey the area. With Sage’s help, we found congested points of enemy activity hoping Pereyra’s demesne would be one of them (keep a note of its existence for later).
Instead, what we found was the Tormented Flesh, a cursed being, congregated in Gallery Street. During the night, Wonder, the Lesser Miracle, had turned the area into a mana-dense environment that allowed magical phenomena previously thought impossible due to the non-magical nature of our world. This in turn led to the Tormented Flesh’s creation: a curse built from lingering despair left from the victims of the Disaster.
We brought an end to its suffering.
Next was Operation Scorcher itself; however, since we did not find Pereyra’s demesne in time, we needed to shift our focus into defending Pillar Dawns all the while navigating around Pereyra’s special ability. This, as Alexander deduced, was the ability to spy (and attack) using reflections. Its surveillance was a pain in our behind; we weren't able to move in public without alerting the Comet and thus hindering almost any plan we concocted.
But our commanders had figured out a way. After over twelve hours after the first mission, Scorcher began. We called in thousands of rifles and Slayers from across the city for this subjugation, expecting to fight not only Pereyra but Tewfik as well. Amongst these Slayers was the Systemic Works from Ordo University. Four in particular would later join the Baptists: Victor Holidays (Victor), Sorayama Kaiya (Uprise), Li Chunhua (Forest Master), and S-Rank Baek Hei-ran (Gul)—with all of them being third-year B-Rank juniors while Gul is an S-Rank Slayer and professor of Class A1.
It was revealed that Archknell, Sage, Problem, and Alexander had came up with a plan to circumnavigate Pereyra’s ability. Problem had created a ritual using blood in Gallery Street, where the Tormented Flesh had originated from, powered by the mana within the environment thanks to Wonder’s doing. There, the ritual produced a demesne to trap the two Comets inside. We lured them there under the false threat of a superweapon. Everybody else was to defend the demesne from enemy forces knowing they would summon monsters to collapse it from the outside.
However, the plan fell apart once Pereyra and Tewfik revealed their true forms. We took losses. Jury and Hidden were killed. A majority of Systemic Works were killed, including Class A1’s Vice Class Representative Deon Griffiths and five out of six Combative Program’s class administrators. Gul was the only surviving member.
(Here, Damien lost his right arm.)
Near the end, Alexander (stupidly yet bravely) rushed in to rescue casualties with the aid of an A-Rank teleporter from Angels, Initiate, another Baptist. There, he encountered the two Comets who told him of his future seen in the Previous Earth—this will be explained soon since there’s too much details to comb through.
Archknell, who was present, told Alexander to escape. He fought Pereyra and Tewfik by himself until Firebrand suddenly revived himself from Tewfik’s body using his Honor. They killed the Comets, with Firebrand enacting revenge on his previous killer.
However, Archknell sacrificed himself to destroy Pereyra for good. As a result, Vice Guild Master Silverhonor automatically succeeded to take the role of Acting Guild Master.
The operation was considered a success but it came at the cost of thousands of our people. We couldn’t launch another operation like this. Not without killing ourselves in the process. As a result, Seraph established the Dawn Baptists: a strike force dedicated to tracking down and subjugating the remaining Kreutz Sungrazers.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
This was also when Seraph explained the backstory of the invasion. The Disaster was tied to the Great Crisis years prior, where an abnormal amount of portals opened across the world and a huge apocalypse scare happened. It was caused by the Dragon King of the Hundred Realms, Helodrake Aethfell. While we exactly don’t know what the Hundred Realms is, the conflict there bled over to our world.
(Note: The Almagest, a secret group of some kind, seems to be involved with the Hundred Realms and the Dragon King but Kosmos hasn’t explained who they are yet. He will explain their origins once everyone is reunited and able.)
The Red Gate Expedition, the expedition that would end the Crisis, resulted in the Dragon King’s death at the hands of Kosmos, but somehow he survived obviously. Ignoring that small detail, this mysterious resolution had left Kosmos unsatisfied. He'd searched the king's headquarters for more information and found something startling amongst his ruined records.
They involved the Previous Earth, another world with the Slayer System. In that world, there was an EX-Rank Slayer by the name of Conqueror, the Guild Master of Bastion Guild. His Vice Guild Master was Celestial War Empress; and he had Spirit Beast Queen and Operator as Head Officers. These Slayers were revealed to be us. As in, Slayer Team Alba.
(Personal opinion: This was exactly the moment when I gave up understanding anything.)
With this information, Kosmos began to observe us since the Red Gate Expedition. Somehow, by Fate or God, we came together through natural means (plus Damien). Then the Disaster happened.
OBD Incident + Operation Wolf Prowl
A week passed after Operation Scorcher. The Baptists launched investigation after investigation but we couldn’t find anything pertaining to the Comets. That was until Dawns was observed to have an uptick of portal occurrences.
Seraph ordered Slayer Team Alba (the Pseudos) plus the Alumnus (Systemic Works) to Grendel Arsenal. Important figures of Martials Guild were stationed here: Vice Guild Master (now GM) Righteous Jin Tiehan, Head Officer (now VGM) Blackviper, and the Five Distinct Journeys (Alma, Thunderstrike Hammer, Yatsar, Shinzo, and Catalyst; of them, Alma and Shinzo had resigned after the Disaster's denouement).
Jin Tiehan took command of the investigation. First, he gave the Baptists some training throughout the day—here, we would find out Althea had a positive condition [Sovereign Spirit Beast Physique], the highest tier there was for that specific condition. We would’ve began our search later that night if it wasn’t for the OBD Bombing across the borough.
The investigation team went to clean up the mess.
The OBD Bombing was caused by the Sungrazers embedding portals within people and objects, we found out. We followed a trail to one of the integration sites, a market where charitable civilians handed out free supplies. However, before we arrived we encountered the Dawns Battalion of Task Force Duskheads: a task force specifically created to combat rogue Slayers during the Disaster.
Because these 'charitable civilians' were Pseudo-Slayers and rogues. With our presence, both parties came to the conclusion that these Pseudos had allied with the Sungrazers to distribute these OBDs and turn innocent people into walking bombs. In other words, Apocalyptics had done this.
Immediately we established a convoy to transport the prisoners plus infected cargo back to Grendel Arsenal before being attacked by Apocalyptics. We handled them, with Alexander personally fighting ten Apocalyptics (including a C-Rank Slayer) by himself.
The Baptists and Duskheads pooled together their information afterwards: the boss of the Apocalyptics were none other than Carn, Predator of Predators. Now that we knew the enemy, the objective was clear: exterminate the Apocalyptics and capture Carn to extract information regarding the enemy commanders.
For this mission, Operation Wolf Prowl, we called in the Graylords, an Otherguards special unit team specializing in apocalyptic threats. Alexander received training from the Graylords because he had the honor of accompanying them to raid the Apocalyptics' main base of operations.
However, Carn could not be found after dispatching all of his rogues. At that moment, red lasers began shooting from the windows: an ability only Pereyra possessed.
That was when we put the pieces together: Carn had evaded capture since his incident at System Articles. This was downright impossible because some of the best trackers were present in Ordo; thus, he had to be protected by the Sungrazers. Considering Pereyra was back in the picture, we realized he must be hiding in the Watcher’s demesne—the same demesne we couldn’t find during Operation Scorcher—and inherited its powers somehow.
As a Fragment.
We found him in Raksha Avenue because a cognitive hazard was located there: a not-so-normal building that forced you to think it was a normal building. Thanks to Damien’s and Problem’s mission with the Royals (since the former was transferred out of our team due to his injury), we were able to collapse the hazard’s defenses and reveal the demesne.
There, we confirmed Carn’s presence. Unfortunately for us, though, because he’d been long dead. After all, the Slayer System did not tolerate betrayal to the world and executed Carn. The Sungrazers had simply used his body as a puppet.
Catalyst recovered his body for the Martials and Operation Wolf Prowl concluded as simple as that.
But Alma, before his departure to Iraq, left us with this information: the events were entirely orchestrated by Righteous Jin Tiehan and Catalyst to seize Fragment Carn's body for alchemical purposes.
Operation Darkspace
Changing perspectives, Damien and Problem descended into Darkrealm's Hold with Royals Guild (including their Guild Master, Monarch). With help from Angels’ High Dominion—including Votary, a future temporary Baptist—they contracted the aid of a Void God by the name of Devoy.
(Note: I do not have the full details since I didn't participate in it.)
The Final Battle
After Wolf Prowl’s conclusion, we were called to the Encampment to meet with Sage in-person. She thought she found a way to induce a Second Emergence into Alexander but that plan failed. Althea, Vernon, and Firebrand went to Primordial Zero to talk to family and Ariella. The Alumnus unluckily encountered Prominence from Oasis Guild.
It was a hectic time, right up until the Sungrazers’ final play happened.
Now, it was Wonder’s turn. It took up residence in Creekwood, draining the remaining Five Pillars of their energy to collapse the Ordo Outbreak Barrier. A demesne was established across the city where monsters were created from thin air, creating chaos no matter where you looked. Conqueror forged himself from that chaos and took charge of the Dawn Baptists, commanding the counteroffensive against the Kreutz Sungrazers.
The plan was this: with Conqueror leading from the Encampment, we divided Devoy into pieces. He was going to sever the connections between Wonder and the active Pillars believing the demesne would crumble. Meanwhile, from Grendel Arsenal, we escorted the Superweapon the Journeys had engineered to destroy the Comets for good.
Severing the connection didn’t work. The demesne was Wonder’s special ability; in actuality, it was using the Pillars’ energy to feed itself. If that wasn’t bad enough, the escort encountered Ikeya, the Lesser Forger. If that also wasn’t bad enough, three boroughs had Diminutive Cosmic Beasts: Flares, Windvent, and Vesper (who was hunting Conqueror).
Ikeya was killed by Master Jin Junjie, his son, and Gul, with assistance from the Superweapon. Unfortunately for them, the Cosmic Beast in Vesper arrived to the location, consumed Ikeya, and restarted the fight.
Kreutz filled its vacancy in Vesper.
Master Jin Junjie sacrificed himself to slay the Cosmic Beast alone while the others occupied Kreutz and delay its advance to the Encampment.
Levin killed the Cosmic Beast in Windvent.
A member from the Almagest, 153rd Constellation Telescopium, killed the Flares Beast. (Telescopium, according to Problem, is his old teacher, Master Alzahrani.)
Most of the Baptists regrouped at Remembrance Plaza after the initial plan failed. We were forced to take a bigger risk with Devoy: attacking the demesne directly while Wonder was still active. However, he wasn't alone. Telescopium volunteered to help with his appraisal skill Discovery. Although we didn’t know it at the time, Sage also helped us. She, somehow, has the power of Izanami-no-Mikoto (Japan’s creator goddess) and reversed creation itself.
The three of them dispelled the demesne. The high-rankers fighting Wonder, with the aid of the Superweapon, killed Wonder.
This victory was short-lived because Kreutz had defeated Righteous Jin Tiehan, Gul, and Prominence (who’d also came to stop it). It had a straight road to Alexander, who was stuck in the Encampment with no way to defeat it. He decided, with the help of an Oasis Slayer named Jackhammer, to hightail it to the rest of his team back in Remembrance Park, baiting Kreutz to come into range of the Superweapon.
It almost worked. Their transport died on the way, but the Superweapon fired. Kreutz however destroyed the artillery shell and severely injured Alexander. During his last stand, he experienced a Second Emergence and presumably created an Honor.
Whatever that Honor was, he killed Kreutz by himself and ended the Ordo Disaster.
Now, we’re left with what comes after.
Martials Guild is under new management with Righteous Jin Tiehan taking the reins with Blackviper as his second. They have: Fragment Carn’s body, Master Jin Junjie’s body and the Cosmic Beast he killed. Knowing Operation Wolf Prowl had been engineered, we have to be careful with our actions against him. He's more powerful than ever before.
Glory Guild is led by the inexperienced Silverhonor who has to deal with her bitter rival, Mystic, undermining every decision she makes. Whether or not the guild survives is up to her.
To acquire Devoy’s help, we gave him Tewfik's universe splitter knowing his natural genocidal nature. While we saved our home, it perhaps came at the cost of entire worlds and the billions living in each one. Contracting with a Nemesis is an apocalyptic crime in its own right, but this is something else entirely. As a result: Seraph, Monarch, Damien, Problem, and High Dominion are in jeopardy of being investigated by the eight-fourteens.
We (Angels Guild) are in possession of Pereyra’s universe splitter. Rector had personally told me this is our most prized treasure we have. Under no circumstances are we to give this up to the Guards or the Phenomena Society. To help us, Problem has taken a leave from Glory Guild to personally guard our merchandise. However considering the investigation, his position may be compromised.
Sage’s hidden powers had nearly killed her. As of writing this, she’s also in a coma. Shinzo has been asked by Angels to personally monitor her.
Vernon lost his mother and sister-in-law during the attack on Primordial Zero. I haven’t heard from him since and that worries me.
The Alumnus are taking care of their people in Ordo University. I haven’t spoken to them since the Barrier fell but I hope they’re doing okay.
Everyone has heard about the Dawn Baptists, but the entire world will know about Conqueror. What’s going to happen with his popularity?
It’s a real mess. I hope Alexander wakes up soon.
