Chapter 71: A Team of Lunatics

The 3A Special Operations Team's fighting style was truly insane!

Chen Xiaofei quickly attracted the attention of the giant zombie monster, and the rest of the team immediately followed up.

Bai Shu set up his rifle and aimed straight for the giant zombie's brain, but it dodged his shot. The second bullet, however, hit its chest, exploding into a spray of blood and filth.

The giant zombie let out a deafening screech after being hit, the sound reverberating painfully in their heads.

Chen Xiaofei had already leapt high into the air, avoiding the sonic attack. "Holy crap! With my enhanced abilities, I can actually *see* the sound waves now!"

Bai Shu also noticed that his night vision had improved significantly, granting him sharper sight in the dark.

The two of them focused on distracting and harassing the monster.

Meanwhile, Wang Weihu charged forward and slashed a massive wound across the giant zombie with his claws. When the zombie retaliated with a heavy swipe, Wang Weihu agilely dodged, toying with it like a big cat playing with a mouse.

Yet every time he struck, he left behind deep gashes on the creature.

Suddenly, dark clouds gathered overhead. Thunder roared, and bolts of lightning crashed down onto the giant zombie, electrocuting it into a frenzy. The creature flailed about in rage, its thick, tough skin protecting it from taking too much damage.

"Watch out for the contaminants!" Qin Luo reminded Chen Xiaofei and the others.

The giant zombie was teeming with bacteria, and none of them dared to let their guard down. They had already realized how tough this zombie was; its thick hide and high durability meant they could only chip away at its health bar bit by bit.

To make matters worse, the enraged zombie's counterattacks became noticeably faster. One of its swipes nearly took Chen Xiaofei's life.

The rest of the team quickly moved in to support him. Members of the Rose Team activated interference abilities, while those with vine manipulation powers entangled the giant zombie's legs. Although the vines were repeatedly torn apart, they managed to buy precious seconds each time.

Watching from the sidelines, Jin Chuanqiong, unwilling to be overshadowed by Qin Luo and his team, covered himself in metal and charged forward with a massive blade.

But the zombie's hide was so tough that his blade barely scratched it. His expression soured as if he had just swallowed something vile.

When the zombie kicked at him, Jin Chuanqiong had no choice but to dodge awkwardly. His third-tier abilities clearly had some gaps in their effectiveness.

Even Mu Mei couldn't help but frown at his performance.

This was the consequence of over-reliance on firearms. Jin Chuanqiong always let others clear the way with heavy weaponry, only stepping in when absolutely necessary. His habit of bullying weaker opponents had left him stagnant in his growth.

The 3A Special Operations Team, on the other hand, thrived on challenging themselves. The two teams operated on completely different philosophies.

Qin Luo observed the giant zombie carefully. It wasn't as impossible to defeat as it initially seemed—it just required time and endurance. This was going to be a battle of attrition, and the question now was whether they could outlast the monster.

By the time the Cheetah Team and White Dove Team arrived at the scene, Qin Luo and the others had already been fighting for over ten minutes.

"Cheetah Team, White Dove Team, do you copy?" Qin Luo, multitasking as the commander, managed to issue orders while still engaged in combat.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Panting heavily, the Cheetah and White Dove Teams responded nervously, "Copy that!"

"Head straight to the Research Institute and rescue the survivors. The situation inside is unknown, so proceed with caution," Qin Luo instructed, hurling a lightning storm sphere at the mutated monster. The explosion created a mist of blood, prompting everyone to dodge.

"Understood!" The two teams immediately headed toward the Research Institute.

Meanwhile, Jin Chuanqiong was cursing loudly. "Damn it! What the hell is this thing? It's impossible to kill!"

Every attack caused blood and filth to spray everywhere, forcing them to constantly dodge the contaminants while fighting. The back-and-forth battle was utterly exhausting.

Mu Mei's team was also struggling. Their abilities weren't at a high enough level, and running out of energy would put them in serious danger.

What was Xu Duoduo doing during all this? She was searching for the perfect opportunity to strike. Her small frame and low presence allowed her to slip in and out unnoticed, occasionally delivering a strike with her buzzing chainsaw.

Her strategy was simple: focus on the zombie's legs. If its legs were severed, it wouldn't be able to escape.

This truly was a war of attrition.

Bai Shu's bullets were embedded all over the giant zombie's arms, successfully slowing down its claw attacks. When he glanced over, he noticed Xu Duoduo had already hacked the monster's legs into a gruesome state.

The little squad leader really was a fierce fighter!

Jin Chuanqiong needed to land four or five strikes just to leave a single wound, and he couldn't even jump high enough for effective attacks. In contrast, Xu Duoduo, with her petite size and incredible agility, could leap up and slash at the monster with precision. Her abilities far outclassed Jin Chuanqiong's, and every swing of her chainsaw left a deep gash.

Toward the end of the battle, Xu Duoduo's spatial manipulation abilities even allowed her to block contaminants. For her, the zombie was no longer much of a threat.

Jin Chuanqiong was already out of commission, and his cowardly teammates had long since retreated. Mu Mei's team was also reaching their limit. "Captain Qin, we can hold on for another three minutes at most," Mu Mei reported.

Qin Luo, with two-thirds of his energy depleted, replied, "Understood. Fall back and rest."

Bai Shu, still firing relentlessly, moved closer to the giant zombie and began using his illusion ability to briefly stun it, taking over the Rose Team's role.

The Rose Team finally withdrew, leaving only the 3A Special Operations Team to continue the fight.

"This thing is definitely stronger than a three-star monster. Damn it, I need to report this to headquarters!"

"Exactly! There's no way this is our fault, Jin Bro. Headquarters must've messed up! How could they expect us to handle a four-star monster?"

Exhausted from overusing her abilities, Mu Mei couldn't even muster the energy to respond to the delusional complaints of the Golden Eagle Team.

From a nearby four-story building, the retreating teams watched the 3A Special Operations Team in action, their expressions growing more and more horrified.

"Are they even human? They've been fighting zombies all day, barely slept, and now they're still going at it until dawn..."

"They're insane. They dodge attacks at the very last second like it's nothing. Aren't they afraid of dying? That mutant of theirs is really something else."

Though the Golden Eagle Team kept grumbling, they couldn't deny the 3A Team's overwhelming strength. Watching the bursts of energy from their abilities, they couldn't help but wonder, *How do they still have power left?*

"Does headquarters give them better serums or something? Why are they so much stronger than us!?"

Finally, fed up with the Golden Eagle Team's whining, the Rose Team tied them up and gave them a good beating.

Back on the battlefield, Qin Luo's team was actually holding up fairly well. Compared to their first encounter with the mutated serpent, this battle was much more manageable. The zombie's deadliest weapons were its highly infectious blood and massive claws.

Fortunately, its mobility was average, and the earlier teams had already whittled down its health bar significantly.

For the 3A Team, the fight was slightly easier now.

Xu Duoduo, chainsaw in hand, stared coldly at the giant zombie. Tonight, her composure was unexpected.

As Chen Xiaofei had said, at least for tonight, she wasn't acting like a child.

Ultimately, the giant zombie tried to flee but collapsed with a thunderous crash. Xu Duoduo immediately leapt forward, delivering the final blow and ending its misery.

She then reached into its head and extracted its mutation core.

Chen Xiaofei and the others regrouped, their exhaustion evident. "I'm so tired! Ahhh, I'm going to collapse. That thing was ridiculously tough!"
