It was a dark and stormy night… in the forest.
He was being looked for. Players were running around calling his name. “Jacob! You fucking asshole!” The feminine tone added to the luxurious hate in her voice.
Someone ran by and stood right in front of him, right in front of his cover.
He could have attacked and they would all know his whereabouts. He dared not to. But three spells came to his mind that could knock her off her feet, pin her to a tree or immobilize her while he could make a run for it.
The girl kept screaming at him, though right under her feet, Jacob couldn’t be seen. “You’re being kicked off the team. And since you’ve failed to comply, we’re doing it for you!”
That meant he has a default sentence.
The girl ran off to check somewhere else.
It’s was his decision to wait, and wait he did. Wait and wait.
He had the intelligence to turn off his beacon from the rest of the team. They could find him, but they knew where he was if only because they had cornered him in before he cast Invisible. Hard to run when it’s four against one.
His teammates kept searching, at some point he would be found and killed, hopefully quickly.
“You’re the only one who didn’t agree to take the quest. But then followed us into the lair!”
Yes, he had done that.
“Then you killed the god damned boss and took all the XP, and all the gold, and probably all the good loot as well!”
Yes, he had done that too.

“So now I’m going to take all that loot, and XP, and gold, and split it with the team as we had planned! You ASS HOLE!”
She said it, time for payback.
“Come out here and fight me if you’re so brave!”
He hesitated. Her voice was strangely commanding.
His former teammates continued to run around searching for him.
Finally they had given up. It had been at least, what, five hours?
They huddled and talked to themselves, close enough for him to hear.
“Why don’t we call it a night. We have more quests to do and need to get some rest before the next one.”
“No! I’m going to find him and kill him! Then find him again, after he defaults, and kill him again, and again, and again!”
“Fine, but we’re going to the next location. We can’t afford to loose you too. We still have a time limit on this quest.”
“He’ll probably just die out here by himself. Plus, isn’t there a distance and time limit before someone gets kicked out of a group?”
“Not with all that loot and XP!”
“I say we leave it and find a place to camp.”
“Same.”
They all agreed. Deciding to head off somewhere to set up camp.
He waited for another half an hour before getting up again.
He was thinking of where to go, how to sell these looted items, or use them, and get something nice with all that gold. He walked through the forest for a good five minutes and happened to find their campsite by accident.
Maybe he could go in and sneak-attack them all, get more loot, level up on the kills and fight the last one standing. Player-kills gets so much more loot than spawn.
He activated stealth, sneaking up to the closest one and cleanly putting a dagger through his neck.
One down, three to go.
“Oh no you don’t!”
Dammit, it was that bitch again.
Time for a fight.
He got hit with an ice spell, the frozen debuff icon was all he needed to see to know that at this moment he was absolutely and utterly Fucked, with a capital F.
Watching the girl slowly walk in front of him and pull out her enchanted sword, he did nothing. He couldn’t.
“I hope you never stop defaulting,” she said in a silent and deadly whisper.
She put the sword up to his chest, and as an afterthought, thinking it might look good for her fans, a nice catchphrase, “I hope you feel this in real life.”
She struck him through the abdomen, pulling up and severing everything inside.
“I hope…”
KillPrinsX watched the freeze debuff icon and her health bottom out.
The room swirled, and unswirled. Back to the same old room.
Well, that was fun. And all the more wiser to not get caught up into any stupid groups.
Soloing is where it’s at.
She hit Nap Time once again…
