Making Friends 3

Making Friends 3

That day I didn't go hunting, and immediately brought the injured monkey back to my house so I could get a better look at its wounded arm.

I placed the monkey in the couch of the living room and then started to examine it.

The monkey was about 1.8 meters tall with dark brown hair and a slim built that looked more human than anything else. Each hand had five fingers but the legs had four toes.

Its face was the only place that wasn’t covered with fur.It resembled a human so closely that you could say he was just a hairy human with a tail.

Its left arm seemed to have been cut open by some sharp weapon leaving behind a gruesome wound that leaked blood constantly, but this was not all. It seemed to also have multiple scratches all over its body, some old ones that had already healed, but also new ones that were still healing.

I boiled some water to sterilize it, waited until It cooled to about room temperature, and then started to clean its wounds carefully with a clean cloth.

The wound was in bad shape but after I started cleaning it, I truly understood how bad it truly was.

The cut was so deep that it looked like it had almost reached the bone. It was filled with dirt and layers upon layers of dried of blood.

I did my best to clean the wound as thoroughly as I could and then started to bandage it with some of my father’s undershirt that I had cut into strips after I had disinfected the wound with some high proof alcohol dad had hidden in his room.

After that I also thirdly cleaned its other small wounds before covering him with a blanket, waiting for it to get up.

...

Three days passed in a flash.

During these three days I cared after the wounded monkey riouguresely, staying by its side, cleaning its wound, and feeding it small amounts of food I crushed before giving it to him. The wound seemed to recover fairy quickly given the severity of it giving me hope of the monkey waking up any day now.

My food was almost over, making me decide to go hunt today.

I quickly packed my gear, took my spear and headed out to hunt.

During the way to the river I encountered some deer grazing the grass slowly at their leisure without a care in the world and decided that today I would not go hunting to the river but just kill one of the deer instead.

“It will definitely last me at least three days, even if I indulge myself.”

I took a javelin from my back and simply threw it.

It hit one of the deers right in the neck almost killing it instantly. I then finished if with a swift stab to the eye ending its suffering before picking it up and returning back home.

When I arrived back home I noticed that the monkey was no longer laying on the couch but on the floor trying to crawl itself towards the kitchen.

When it heard noise coming from behind It slowly turned its head to only meet eyes with me.

The eyes were a deep dark colour exactly like humans with the exception of faint gold colour that was deeply buried in its iris. The eyes held intelligence in them, and I don’t mean intelligence like that of a dolphin or a crow, but human level intelligence.

It backed itself into a corner, and started growling seemingly afraid of me.

Seeing it look at me in a hostile way , I didn't approach it recklessly not to make it even more afraid and instead handed it a fruit that it had cached its eye on the kitchen.

I slowly pushed the fruit over and the backed off.

After growling at me some more it took the fruit cautiously, observed it for a second and then ate it in big bites. It looked like it was still hungry even after eating the fruit so I offered it another one.

After having its fill It just became quiet, and stared at me in the eye. It just stared for about three minutes before it suddenly opened its mouth and said something.

“ Jua.”

“What?”

I was taken aback by the sudden words that came from the monkey’s mouth.

“What did you just say right now? Repeat it again.”

The monkey looked at me in surprise seemingly not understanding what I just said to it and repeated the word.

“Jua?”

It repeated the same word as before but I still couldn’t understand it. It was speaking a language unknown to me.

After trying again and again to communicate, even by making hand sings trying to convey something, I still got nothing. Neither I nor the monkey could understand what the other was saying.

After ten more frustrating minutes the monkey again repeated the same word but this time it also pointed to its mouth and then throat.

“Jua?”

I still didn't understand what the word meant, but I got what it was trying to convey.

It was thirsty and wanted something to drink.

As soon as that realization came to me I bolted right up and went to the kitchen to find a bottle of water which after unscrewing the bottle cap ,I handed to the thirsty monkey.

It looked at the transparent plastic bottle with curiosity until I beckoned at him with my hand how to drink from it.

After drinking its fill it put the bottle down and reverted back to staring at me.

More time passed.

The monkey stared at me and I stared at him ,booth without seeing a word., until It raised its hand towards me, beckoning me to touch it.

I looked at the stretched out hand and cautiously touched it, and when i did before me papered a notification.

I was taken aback, because I hadn’t willed the interface to appear, but there it was.
