Beginning of War 1

Beginning of War 1

Two days later.

The atmosphere of the city was heavy and the previous cheerful city had turned into a long lost dream. People didn't move to much or go out unless it was necessary and patrols of guards made their rounds regularly.

If they found someone who was breaking the rules that were imposed right now they would imediately be apprehended and put to jail.

Palos city was at war and there would be no tolerance. The first attack of the flying creatures had destroyed many important facilities which the most important of them were the granaries.

The nobles had their own stash of food but for the normal population this was not a good situation. If this war continued for a long time the city's defences would not hold out.

At most the city could sustain it's occupants for no more than 20 days and if that 20 day mark was passed then the fall of the city was eminent.

To this situation there had contributed many things, but the three most prevalent ones were...

1.The burning of a lot of granaries who supported the population.

2. The increased number of occupants . The city's occupantsy had doubled in comparison to usual . Many people had fled towards the city when the flying creatures attacked the nearby settlements and they hadn't left ,in turn increasing the burden.

3. Palos City's main way of aquiring grain was not by peasants farming the land around the city (thought there was a small amount of land that was used to grow different things every year) but by importing the grain from other more fertile parts of the empire.

The geography of the Elanor Empire with it's many rivers that flowed to almost any corner of it made that trade by river very prominent and widely used. Palos city with it's big port was one of the cities who sustained itself by trade.

*Flap* *Flap*

*Skeeee*

A flying creatures was heard in the distance.

The sun had raised its golden crown for about two hours but the warmth it radiated was not enough to make the chill that was on the hearts of the people of Palos City.

.....

At the city wall on top of the east gate.

This place was filled with numerous soldiers who had donned their battle armour and who had steeled their resolve to protect their home.

"All troops into position."

A commander yelled at the top of his lungs and the soldiers hurriedly got onto their position.

*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*

The commander was inspecting the formation of the soldiers and the only thing heard was the sound of his steel boots hitting the ground.

*Stop*

"Soldiers of the city of Palos , soldiers of the Elanor Empire. Today, we will face an enemy that is looking to kill us , but will we let them?

Will we just roll over in submission and kneel towards them in defeat?"

"NO SIR!"

"Will we die here today or will we prevail and come out of this victorious?

Answer me, will we WIN or will we LOSE?"

"WIN....WIN......WIN...

A chorus of fiery cheers filled the top of the wall.

To the side were 5 individuals who didn't look like soldiers. They group was consistent of a human, three beastfolk and one beastkin. This was quite an unusual ground with a mix of many races.

The minotaur of the group was carrying around some big wooden crates and stacking them over each other.

"Heh, the level the motivating speech that the commanded gave to their is only, so so."

"It can't be helped. He is but a commander and not a general who can understand the thoughts of these soldiers right now.

Most certainly by looking at his age he hasn't experienced a real war until now."

"Why are you selling him short Munnji? He may actually be able to properly command these soldiers."

"Im just being realistic. The enemies we are about to face are not the humans or the beastfolk they have been used to fight all the time but monsters that are specially created to kill.

Their battle tactics and way of fighting is different from that of humans. They will resort to everything to win and also the more death our side has the stronger the enemy becomes."

"Hehe, that's.... music to my ears. I will be able to fight to my heart's content."

*Rumble* *Rumble*

The ground started to shake signaling the advance of the 25000 strong enemy troops.
