I'm sorry for not bringing you a new chapter...

Hello readers! Today, I found out that I totally messed up the story! For those of you who write stories (fanfics) you might know this… or not. You see, I started this book without much thought. Just one day, I went, “What if Odin got into a VR game?” and so it started… I didn’t even plan out the story. How stupid can I get… Well, whatever. So, this thing’s about getting people to know more about Odin, the game, and the world.

Ragnarok: The fall of the gods. At this day, the monsters that have been bound will kill the gods. Basically the apocalypse.

Odin: The supreme ruler of Asgard! Fenrir, the wolf, SHOULD’VE killed him at Ragnarok, but the mysterious man in white transported Odin to a VRMMO before Odin died. Odin is now stuck in the body of a child… and his stats are far below normal. About 10% of a normal adventurers. Currently, Odin is raising stat and stamina at a… library? His current strength and stamina equals about 50% of a normal adventurers. He also grants a skill called “Valor of the fallen” to his worshippers (specifically priests), which allows the priests to revive up to 5 of their comrades as vikings. Vikings have no mana, increased health, and increased stats regarding strength. Intelligence is also lowered, and personal skills cannot be accessed. Vikings die automatically after an hour.

“It had never been confirmed if Odin actually grants dark priests the skill ‘valor of the fallen’ as he was never summoned to the dark side” - VRFAQs

The world: The story’s set in a game called “Unnamed”. The game will get a name once someone finishes it. As for the requirements for finishing it… there are clues for it scattered in the world. No one knows how far people got in the game. The world is controlled by multiple AIs called “Gods”. Each AI can manifest a physical form, and each of their personalities, and powers are based on a mythological god. 10 years ago (RL time), the developers suddenly erased the “Norse” AI… Due to this, the dark side lost many allies. Norse myths had more bad than good, anyways. The game is set to speed up 5x faster in the game compared to the real world.

The dark/light side

As you might have read from chapter 2, the world is split into 2 parts. Light and dark. Classic, eh? Right now, due to a small number of players aligning themselves to the dark side, and the disappearance of the nordic monster army, the dark side is gradually being pushed back. Not at a significant pace, of course. The nordic army was removed 10 months after the official release, after all. The dark side also has less gods, as the buffs/skills they grant their followers are mostly undesirable. (ex. Tailoring +2)

“It is likely that a god may grant different skills when they change sides.” - VRFAQs

As for temples…

Temples are set up so that priests can summon a god to patronise their temple. Each god grants a certain buff or skill for his/her worshipper. For example, if a priest from the light side summons a god from his/her side, he/she would gain a skill that god grants him/her. A priest can only summon a god if the god is aligned with the temple (the temple and the god is both aligned to light/dark) or if the god is a fallen god (No temple or worshippers).

Skills

It is VERY hard to get a skill just by performing an action. It is also VERY hard to level it up. The highest skill level a person went to so far is Advanced level 3. Again, it’s been 10 years since the game came out.

The Norse Gods: (The ones that appeared)

Odin (That’s it. He’s the only one that appeared so far. SO FAR.)

The Norse Monsters: (Just to give one a sense of how many monsters there were in the game)

Legions of Frost Giant troops (The strongest of them can fight gods head-on)

Surtr’s Fire Giant army

Loki

Hel and her (Evil) Spirit Army (Evil female version of Hades, I guess)

Fenrir (The wolf that is fated to kill Odin. The god of war lost his arm cuz of this guy)

Jormungandr (The world snake. His body encompasses the world. Hence the name. Fated to kill Thor)

Nidhogg the dragon

Remember, each of these monsters are extremely powerful. Maybe not Loki, but c’mon… his creativity deserves some credit.

Again, please forgive me for not being able to deliver you a good lengthy chapter…
