Chapter 3.
Real World, ???? Company
“Sir, the main AI detected something strange in the game…”
“Can’t you see I’m busy here? Tell me some other time.”
“But sir, it concerns the Norse program…”
“WHAT? Ok, I’ll be there in a second. I’m sorry, but I’ll have to be excused from this meeting, gents. Urgent business, you see.”
Moments later, the man who seemed like the boss (a.k.a sir) walked out of the meeting room with the employee.
“So, what happened to the Norse program? Did it try to reactivate itself again?”
“No, sir. It’s Odin. Just him.”
“That is… peculiar. But is that it?” The boss had a hint of irritation in his voice. He clearly did not like being pulled out of an important meeting.
“Of course not, sir. It’s just that AI_type001, Odin came back as a player.”
“Excuse me?”
“The main AI spotted Odin at the dark city, Nzarthruk.”
“Who the hell named that city? Whatever, are you sure it’s not just a player going by the name Odin?”
“Sir, the source code for the player Odin and the AI Odin are identical. There’s no doubt that the AI turned itself into a player. But there’s one more thing…”
“Explain.”
“Odin’s stats regarding the body are below average. About 10% of a normal player’s, to be exact.”
“…”
“…”
“Can we contact him?”
“It is possible.”
“Well, do it!”
The librarian disliked Odin. No, perhaps it is better to say that she loathed him. After all, he would skim through books, throw it somewhere over his shoulder. He was being disrespectful to the books. She needed to get him out.
“Excuse me young man, but you need to get out of this library. Now.”
“Madam? Did I do something wrong?”
“You’re disrespecting the books. You’ve been throwing it everywhere for a few days now, and I find it unacceptable. Plus, you aren’t even reading it.”
“Throwing books I understand, but whatever do you mean by me ‘Not Reading’? I’ve been reading diligently day by day. I can prove it to you, even.”
The librarian gave Odin a skeptical look, and then pointed at a random book behind him.
“Alright then, tell me what line 34 of page 154 said in this book.”
“Ah, that one. I believe it precisely said, ‘potions, even healing ones, must be handled with care at all times, as if it mixes with another potion by, say, an accident, it may trigger an explosion.’”
The librarian grabbed the book, and turned to the page. She traced her fingers to line number 34 of page 154, and was astonished. But she quickly regained her composure.
“That’s some talent. But you still need to explain yourself about throwing books.”
“Ma’am, please look at the places where I threw those books.”
“The librarian looked back. To her astonishment, the books Odin threw were neatly stacked on top of each other…”
“Uhhh… Ma’am? Why are you talking in 3rd person?”
The librarian fainted.
As Odin was dragging the librarian to the nurse’s office, a strange sound came in his ear.
“Are we through? Good. Ok… Hello, Odin.” - ???
Odin looked around him frantically. Was there someone near him? He didn’t feel any presence near him. So where was this sound coming from?
“Calm down, man. We’re talking inside your head.” - ???
“As if I could calm down after hearing that!”
“Well, whatever. I just wanted to ask you a question, anyways.” - ???
“Well, what question? Spit it out, already.”
“Calm down, Calm down... Why are you being hostile to me, all of the sudden?” - ???
"I don't think I would be kind to something that just started talking in my head... would you?"
"Agreed. I wouldn't like that, either. Now, about that question..." - ???
"Just say it."
"Are you Odin AI?" - ???
“Odin AI? What the hell is that?”
“Huh? What do you mean, ‘What the hell is that’? Aren’t you Odin AI?” - ???

“Never heard of it.”
“Fuuu… Steve, bring Jacob down here right now. He needs to know just what happens if he makes me pissed. Oh, Odin, before I go, here’s a present from me to compensate for your stats. Why are your stats so low, anyways?” - ???
With that, the voice in his head disappeared.

“What… the… hell?”
Odin decided to ignore it for now. It seemed… unsafe. He never saw this kind of language before, and for some reason, it seemed dangerous.
Ah, he almost forgot about the librarian. He turned around to pick her up again, only to find her awake. Seeing him, she fainted again.
“This woman…” Odin shook his head. To faint just by seeing him… Odin tried to pick her up. But he forgot about his low strength, and fell headfirst towards the ground. Unfortunately, his head struck a nail that happened to be lying there. That was his first death.

Odin woke up, but this time in the ruins of Asgard. He saw that his wound was healed. And in front of him was the white man.
“Who are you?” Odin asked.
“I… am Jesus of the 5th Universe.”
Who the heck is Jesus? And what the hell is this universe thing? Odin’s brain started generating questions. Before he could output it, the Jesus person answered.
“I see. It seems that you have never visited a Universe apart from your own. I would have to explain everything, huh.“
Odin was just blankly staring at the guy.
“How do I start… Oh, this will do. You see, there are an infinite number of universes. And each universe is governed by a god/gods from a religion. This Universe is governed by you, or Nordic mythology. My universe is governed by my father, god. And our neighbouring universe, is governed by this god of heavy metal… or something. You get the gist of it?”
Odin was even more confused than the time when he… nevermind. Better to not think of that incident.
The Jesus person continued talking.
“Haah… I can tell that you’re still confused. Whatever. Just think of me as a person from a different world. That’s what I basically am, anyways.”
Odin’s face brightened immediately.
“That’s better! But I still have questions.”
“I know. You want me to tell you about the place you were at, yes?”
Odin nodded eagerly, wanting to know.
“I sent you inside a game that humans made in my world, so that I could heal you. I can’t have you conscious while I heal people in this world. Plus, you have a job to do in that world.”
“A job? What job?”
“Well, your precious Loki messed with the game, which is starting weird chain reactions all over the globe that’s about to turn into a world war. In order to reverse this, you’ll have to recreate the ‘Norse code’ which was erased by the developers who got tricked by Loki.”
“How the hell does changing one thing in a video game trigger a world war?”
“I dunno. Ask Loki, I guess.”
Their conversation continued deep into the night. When it became morning again, it was time for Odin to get back into the game.
“Well, see you, I suppose.” Odin told Jesus. Haah… he didn’t want to be a weak child again… but he had to.
Jesus just nodded at him. It was his way of saying goodbye. Well, that’s what Odin presumed, at least.
Jesus waved his hands.
Odin blacked out.
