Chapter 4 - (Brutal) Murder

Chapter 4 - (Brutal) Murder

Odin woke up in a cold, dark place. He could barely move his body.

Soil?

It seemed that Odin was buried. He tried to move, but the soil barely shook. His strength wasn’t sufficient when it came to digging his body out. For now, he tried to get out by moving as much as he could. The soil shook violently.

WeedKiller was on a quest to kill undead zombies in the graveyard. It was a D level quest, so at his level, it wasn’t that hard… if he wasn’t a priest. Unfortunately, being a priest, and a dark one at that, severely debuffed him when he fought monsters aligned with darkness.

The villagers who gave him the task were also reluctant about it… but even if the zombies were on their side, they had to be exterminated, as the zombies attacked those who visited the graves.

Ugh, why did the developers have to make this so realistic? The guts are spilling out with some green fluid… disgusting.

WeedKiller thought this as he stabbed another zombie that was approaching him.

A good 20 minutes passed since WeedKiller killed his last zombie… He still had one more to go. The zombies began appearing less frequently now that WeedKiller exterminated most of them. The grave he was sitting on suddenly shifted.

“Hm?”

WeedKiller was surprised by this. Were zombies spawning out of graves now? Or was it a area boss? Thinking this, WeedKiller’s surprise immediately changed into joy. The loot that he would gain from this would be quite profitable…

WeedKiller examined the grave. Indeed. Something was trying to escape. The soil kept shaking, after all. Seeing this as a chance, WeedKiller stabbed repeatedly into the ground. He wasn’t about to let the boss get out just like that. He was going to weaken it first.

What WeedKiller expected was green fluids seeping through the soil. Instead, he found blood.

“Eh? A human?”

WeedKiller was immediately assaulted with messages. And none of them did him any good.

“…”

WeedKiller decided to contact a GM. These penalties were just too much! It was just an accident! But just before he struck the button, ‘call GM’, 300 different gods from their respective religions sent their regards. Odin might be hated by living beings, but not by celestial beings like gods. Before he knew it, WeedKiller was dead. Yeah… It’s about time to get a new character.

Odin died before he even got out of the ground. When he was about to free himself, someone started to stab him. When he died, he got several messages.

Jesus was gone when Odin returned. He found a capsule where Jesus used to be. There was a note attached to it: “You can log into the game with this. Use it well.”

Odin decided to have a look at it later. He needed to rebuild Asgard, and it wasn’t going to be finished any time soon…

24 hours had passed. Odin was trying to repair a part of the outer wall that was smashed. Unfortunately, Odin could only do a shabby job, as he wasn’t the one who built it. Odin went back to the capsule. It was time to save the world, but he had to rebuild the capsule. It was way too small for him.

“I swear… Jesus, you did this on purpose, didn’t you?”

After fixing up the capsule, he logged into “Unnamed”.

Odin once again appeared in the throne room. This time, he had things to do here, unlike last time. First off, Odin took out the “gift” that admin gave him.

(&#@*!Mortals shouldn’t have thisAn unknown metal given to Odin by the creators of this world. Properties Unknown. Identification skill required to know more about this item.

Odin vaguely remembered the identification shop in the city. Instead of getting the skill for himself, he should bring this to them sometime in the future.

“Pretty good.” Odin nodded to himself while saying it.

In a span of 3 weeks, Odin grew significantly. Of course, this was based on Odin’s standards… If he was a normal adventurer, he would be level 50 already, based on the playtime.

Odin didn’t bother look at his skills. He didn’t gain any skills, and Gungnir was still at beginner level one. No matter how much he used it, it refused to level up… was there a requirement that had to be fulfilled?

“It probably has to do with mana…”

Odin muttered to himself. And he once again recalled his attempt at using actual magic. His mana was ridiculously low. When he tried to use the spell ‘magic missile’, it made him exhaust his mana, and he fainted from it.

“Well, it’s not like I had much magic power from the beginning, anyways…”

Of course, Odin was a god of battle, not magic. Unlike Thor or Loki, who both used magic extensively, he mostly relied on his strength alone.

“Alright, time to hunt.”

Odin exited the castle. He was going to have his revenge on slimes.

Oh, we’re going to have sooo much fun together…

After walking for 2 minutes, Odin encountered his first slime. Although he had strength, Odin couldn’t punch the slime, due to his low endurance. So Odin summoned his toothpick. No, wait. Gungnir. He summoned his Gungnir. The moment he did so, a new message popped up. One he never saw before.

Ding!

Odin’s toot…Gungnir got 4 times bigger, and Odin felt his body strengthening.

“Now this is what I’m talking about.”

Odin rushed at the slime, and struck it with his spear. The slime’s backside exploded, and it’s fluids were flung back several hundred meters. When Odin tried to look for loot, he found it shattered to pieces. The Gungnir… was too strong.

Odin eradicated all the slimes in the city. He was skipping by the end, with a huge grin on his face. He levelled up 3 times, and his stats rose significantly. Everything except endurance was on par with a level 4 warrior.

Odin decided to check his stats. But before he could do so—

Ding!

All the slimes in this world has been exterminated! Great Slime King (Level 120) has awakened! (Asgard)

The ground started shaking. The castle started to crumble. Odin could see a massive slime trying to free itself from the dying castle.

Real World, ???? Company

“Sir! Sir! It’s an emergency! You HAVE to see this! It’s the Norse Code!” Jacob ambushed his boss. He knew that his boss started avoiding him as much as possible since "that" incident, there was no choice to catch him off guard.

“Jacob? What did I say I’d do to you if you mentioned the Norse Code in front of me again?” Jacob's boss responded with an angry look. The man found Jacob annoying. Honestly speaking, he found all mankind annoying. Jacob just happened to be the worst out of all of them.

“But sir, a fragment of the item ‘Gungnir’ came out.”

This caught the boss's attention.

“Oh god… Where?”

“It’s inside the Great King Slime, in Asgard.” Of course, Jacob was referring to the slime that was released thanks to Odin.

“I thought a 'Great King' class boss was supposed to be released when a monster went extinct?”

"We've discovered that the slimes that inhabited Asgard were wiped out. But we couldn't find anyone in the city... We believe it was done by a hostile monster."

"Darn... every user in the world should've learnt of the 'Great King' in Asgard, and now they know about Asgard... How are we going to solve this... Why did we leave Asgard be, anyways? Hell, why didn't we just delete the Norse Code for good?"

“The main AI refused to delete it, sir.”

"Damn it... it must be the AI, then. Of course it's the AI. It's releasing the Norse Code piece by piece."

"Find a way to stop that AI before it releases the whole code!" If the public got hold of the secrets within the Norse Code... The company would be in big trouble.

“Yes sir!”

“And about that Slime… just leave it be. There’s no way the monster would be able to escape Asgard, and no one should be able to get into Asgard.” There was no point in slaying it. The monster was strong enough, and Asgard itself was an impenetrable fortress. There was no way that a normal adventurer would be able to breach Asgard, and destroy a level 120 monster.

“Yes sir!”

“Stop calling me sir.”
