Dawn stared out the window, silently contemplating everything that had happened today.
She’d left her homeland and her family behind, went to the Academy, and now found herself in Neverstien. She sipped a cup of tea.
By the time she had gotten to her apartment, night had fallen. After she’d set everything up, it was only a matter of minutes before the sun rose. As Dawn observed the city, she couldn't help but feel nervous.
She was in a strange place, and although not alone, Brandon and Lucifer were living quite a distance away. Not easy to go to if in a hurry.
There was also excitement. Just staring at the place made her feel tingly. She wanted to know what it would feel like tomorrow as she walked the streets.
Dawn closed the curtains and turned around.

Her living space was big, bigger than she wanted. After all, she was alone with her, and all the empty space made her feel lonely. And she hated being lonely.
A knock interrupted her thoughts.
“Coming!” Dawn called, opening the door.
In front of her stood a small girl who appeared about 7, holding a large teddy bear. She had brilliant blue hair and bright green eyes.
Behind her was an older girl, perhaps her sister? She wore a button-up shirt and pants, with sunglasses. Her hair was black and tied up in a ponytail.
“Um, hello?” Dawn asked.
To her surprise, it was the girl who spoke first, in an adorable pitch that made Dawn want to squeal and pinch her cheeks.
“Hi! You’re Dawn, right?”
That snapped her out of it. How did this girl know her name?
“Yes.”
The child nodded. “Okay! Just making sure you’re not a threat to my sister.” With that, she left. The older girl nodded at Dawn and quickly followed.
Dawn was left flabbergasted. What was that weird exchange? Closing the door, she prepared to go to sleep, trying to push the conversation out of her mind.
As she lay in her bed, dawn gazed through a rounded window in her bedroom.
It was soft, peaceful, and inviting.
