Our story starts at a farm, the farmer gets up on a cool autumn morning, before the sun, and heads for the barn. He looks down at the ground and he sees a trail of blood at the bottom of the door, “shit not again!” he swings the doors open to find that there are two out of five cows laying dead in their blood.
The farmer looks around for what did it, examines the entire barn, in and outside of the barn. He searches well in to dawn. He lets his last three cows out but they just stay huddled together scared stiff to scared to move.
“Then stay in here,” the farmer takes a shovel and spends the morning digging two huge holes for his two dead cows, “may you find peace with the mother goddess.” He then buries the hole and heads back to the barn where he power washes the barn, it takes him all afternoon, he heads back in to his house mad that another of his cows were murdered with no traces of their killers.
The farmer decides to sleep in his barn with his shotgun, not knowing what else to do. He locks the door from the inside and lays a sleeping bag in an empty stall. He awakens about midnight hearing his barn door being unlocked. He gets up and finds three, what looks like brown deformed potatoes with bright red caps come walking in to the barn. The farmer stands completely still frozen with fear as three goblins, they look like weird deformed potatoes with big tusk like teeth and razor sharp fingers, walk in to the barn.
The goblins stop at the entrance and closes the barn door. They turn around to notice the farmer, they all just look at each other then the red caps huddle together and start to talk in some kind of language, they then turn back to face the farmer, but the farmer has his shotgun facing the goblins.
His hands tremble as he begins to speak, “who are you, what do you want?”

The goblins begin to talk in their native tongue as they unsheath their little daggers.
The farmer, with trembling hands pulls the trigger at the nearest goblin. The goblin lets out a wail as it falls dead. The other two goblins look at him and run from the barn. The farmer begins shooting at the scared goblins until the darkness of night engulfs them. He heads back to the barn and collapses in his sleeping bag. The farmer gets up early the next morning and heads for the wiccan shop with the dead goblin.
“What is this thing and why are three of them attacking my cows” the farmer throws the goblin on to the counter.
“This creature is called 'Red Cap,' its a goblin fae,” the witch says as she pulls his hat off the his head, “you see its razor sharp fingers they use them to slash their victims.” The witch doctor places her hand on its giant sharp teeth, “hmmm, let me see,” the witch goes to the left of shop and pulls down a jar with Marigold and gets some Garland, “put this in front of your barn in front of your barn door.”
The farmer pays for the items and spends the morning placing the Garland and the Marigold around the barn entrance. Its about high noon when he is finished. He takes his three remaining cows to his shrine to Cernunnos, he lets his cows graze on the grass as he places a wooden wolf on the pedistal, “I will hunt a real living wolf if you help protect my cows tonight.”
He sits in the grass watching his cows drink from a nearby river. He calls his cows back about dusk and locks himself with his three cows inside the barn. He waits nervously with his gun held in front of him, and his cows huddled against the far side of the barn.
It is about midnight when the farmer hears the same creatures from the night before, they are talking in a language he can't understand, then the voices stop talking the doors begin shaking violently.
“You better let us in right now, or we'll hunt you down after we've fed on your cows,” the doors shudder but they do not break apart. The Red Caps bang on the doors until dawn when they got tired and stopped.
The farmer waited a moment then left the barn, he gets halfway to his farm house when the Red Caps block his way, one in front of him and two behind him. They charge at him before he could move...
Not all faes are good or evil but some are pure evil some are neutral. This fay is a pure evil goblin. Red Caps kill their victims and dip their caps in their blood.
