"This is getting really worse now. What should we do?"
Who is there? Oh, it's just you, huh? C'mon don't scare me like that. You seriously need to learn some manners. Never evesdrop again, got it?
Anyways let's just move on. I am so not interested in wasting my time scolding you. I am Higa Oriyo and I am twelve years old. My friends and I have a certain job to get over with right now. Sorry, but since you just arrived here, and are clueless about what is going on, you can't join us yet. You would just be a hindrance to us. So till the time you are on the same page as us, just stay back and enjoy the..... flashback? To put it bluntly.
Now leave or as I said before, you'll just be a hindrance to us. See you later!
I never thought that that day would change my life to such an extent. The day started quite normally. I was in my bed, snoring. My mom was yelling at the top of her voice.
'Oriyo, get up already! It's time for school'. 'Yes yes.' I got up, wiping the saliva drooling off my mouth.
'Oriyo, don't forget to make your bed.'
'Tsch! Another pain in the ass. I really don't get it. What is the point of making the bed, if mom is going to come and change the bedsheet anyway after I leave for school?' I grumbled.
I got off my bed, looking at it as if it were some kind of tough math problem.
'What a pain,' I said. I pulled the bedsheet, folded it in the most pathetic way possible and sighed.
'Finally!'
I took my towel off the bed and surrounded my neck with it. 'Mom, I am going to take a bath.'
'Okay dear,' she replied.
I took a bath real fast and looked for my jacket. It was lying on my study table all stinky and dirty. Well, what else do you expect? I hadn't given it for laundry for almost a month now. I wore my jacket, took my bag and slid down the staircase.
'Mom, what have you made for breakfast today?' I asked running down the staircase.
'I have made rice and bittergourd for breakfast today.'
'WHAT?' I stopped halfway through.
'Why bittergourd? You could have made something else....something more tasty.'
'Oriyo, it has been in the fridge forever now. I had to make it some day.'
'But why bittergourd? It is so bitter and terrible tasting', I said with the most unpleasant look on my face.
'Just deal with it for today. I'll make you something good tomorrow.'
'Fine. I'll forgive you this time,' I said, pulling the chair to sit. My mother smiled.
'Here, eat,' she placed the food in front of me. I stuffed the bittergourd into my mouth as fast as possible and walked towards the veranda to wear my shoes.
I wore my shoes, took my bag, opened the door, when my mother said, 'Oriyo, I hope you didn't forget to separate your underwear from your pants.'
My face turned all red. I threw my bag down, rushed upstairs, separated my underwear from the pants, threw it in the laundry bag and came down, huffing.
'What a pain!'
I picked up my bag and opened the door when....'Oriyo, I hope you didn't throw it in the laundry bag, because it is extremely dirty and I was going to wash it today.'
'Oh, c'mon!' I grunted.
Finally after a while I was done with everything. I had opened the door for the third time now and I said, 'Mom, I'm leaving.'
'Okay dear.' she replied.
I reached school fifteen minutes later. Well, I arrived in time luckily. I climbed to the third floor and opened the door of my classroom.
'Oriyooo!' A voice screeched. 'What?' I asked.
'I want to show you something.
'Huh?'
'Just c'mon,' the voice said, dragging me into the classroom.
'Look!' it said, pointing towards something.
'What?' I asked.
'Can't you see? I bought a new bag.
'Is that something so important that you should be showing me even before I enter the class?' I yelled.
'Sorry,' said the voice.
This is Tanaka Saburo, my best friend.
He is a good for nothing and a completely useless person. To put it bluntly, he does absolutely nothing. Like nothing.
'What is with all the noise?' Another voice asked.
This is Nomura Niko, the Class Rep. She is a very obedient and a responsible girl. And...um..Well, there is nothing else to say about her, because she behaves in the same way every girl always does--- all bossy and ambitious.
'Nothing,' I denied.
'Fine. Return to your seat then. The first period is about to start,' she ordered.
'Yes, yes,' I said, walking towards my desk.
After a few minutes, the school bell rang and the teacher entered the class.
'Good morning teacher!'
'Yes, yes. Good morning, everyone,' said the teacher, picking up the register off the table to take the attendance. The attendance was on the run.
'Higa Oriyo?' 'Yes ma'am,' I replied.
'Yamamoto Daisuke?' 'Yes ma'am.'
'Tanaka Saburo?' 'Yes ma'am,' Said Saburo.
'Nomura Niko?' 'Yes ma'am,' Niko replied. The attendance went on for a while. The only name left out to be called was...
'Yamada Yui?' There was no response. 'Yui?' The teacher repeated herself. She looked around for her, but it seemed like she had not arrived yet.
The teacher was about to mark her absent in the register, when a loud noise attracted everybody's attention.
'What...what was that noise? Where did it come from?' The students spoke within themselves. I stood up and walked towards the door, everyone looking at me as if I were to open a door that invited huge monsters. I placed my hand over the handle, heard a boy crying terribly.
I opened the door, and...
Yui was on the floor, looking at her elbow.
'What are you doing?' I asked.
'Huh? Oriyo?' She said.
'Why are you on the floor? Don't tell me that you were interested in staring at the ants rather than entering the class.
'Shut up!' She said. 'I just fell down, alright?'
This is Yamada Yui. A very cool person. The complete opposite of Niko. Not at all ambitious, well I don't want to make it sound the way it does, but that's that. Anyways as I said, she is a very cool and a carefree person. Her biggest trait is that she is very attentive and is quite confident.
'Fine, Fine. Just get up already now,' I said, lending my hand towards her.
'Tsch!' She grunted, getting up.
'Lets go,' I said.
At around three in the evening, the school came to an end and we were on our way back home.
'What a long boring day it was!' Saburo sighed. 'Long boring day?' I asked. 'You literally did nothing other than sleeping the whole time.
Oh c'mon! What else do you expect me to do when all they were teaching were about some ancient ethics?
'Fine, whatever.'
I sighed looking at the sky. It was water blue, with many pretty birds chirping all over. The streets were extremely busy. People were buying a lot of stuff since the Light Festival was coming up.
Everything was going on in the usual way, when a sudden announcement occured.
"Hello everyone. We have an important announcement to make. An Organization called Korgo has recently opened up near Saitama. We have been told that they are on the run

'What do you think? Interested?' I asked the others.
'Well, we don't have anything much to do now-a-days, anyways, so I don't have any problem,' Niko agreed.
Neither do I, as long as I have to do nothing, Saburo said.
Everybody seemed to have no problem with joining the Korgo, but Yui looked down for some reason.
'What happened Yui?' I asked.
'H..huh?' She hesitated. 'Nothing....I too am in,' she said.
'Okay then. Let's go everyone.' said Saburo excitedly.
'O..okay,' I said. Even though she did agree, I knew that there was something wrong with her. Because she wasn't her usual self. I was kinda worried.
