Chapter 95 - Wererabbit Fight Part 2

Chapter 95 - Wererabbit Fight Part 2

Drex had intercepted one of the wererabbits after being told to do so by Tesilim. He had lunged at it, but it had dodged out of the way by jumping over him. He then got kicked by it and was sent tumbling. He quickly recovered and activated his body enhancement, getting ready to receive the incoming lunge of the rabbit. The thing loved to kick with its hind legs. However, Drex wasn’t going to let it get so close that easily and opened his mouth unleashing a plume of green gas at the incoming monster.

It was an odd thing to use his breath. Every time he thought about using it, he got a random result. However, he did know what he was going to unleash, even if it was only a few seconds before his power went off. This let him adapt to whatever attack he was going to make. This time around, he had been hoping for anything except ice and had gotten poison.

The rabbit who lunged right through the poison cloud came out the other end to find that Drex was no longer in the same spot. The drake had gone into the poison cloud, knowing he could resist it much more easily than the rabbit. The poison was simple, making those who inhaled it physically slower while slowly draining their vitality.

While inside the cloud, Drex couldn’t really see either, but considering it was dispersing rather fast, it didn’t matter, and he quickly caught sight of the rabbit. Opening his mouth again, this time, Drex unleashed his first fire breath as a torrent of flame struck the rabbit. The rabbit immediately jumped up and out of his breath. Then it flipped around, and its front claws and paws began to glow.

Another set of blue beams was flying towards Tesilim, but he didn’t pay attention to them even as his mana drained further. The original beams that had struck him had infected him with creeping slowness, further playing off the corruption the fey mana had started. They also hurt like hell, and his body felt cold all over like he had just been outside naked in the deep end of winter.

Knowing that if he let the fey issue get too far, he would be in the deep end, Tesilim unleashed a torrent of pure mana whose power helped clear out some of the slowness and push back the insidious fey corruption a bit. The other thing it did was leave behind a burning sensation that hurt like hell but did bring him back to reality.

Back in the present, he saw the rabbits were channeling another set of beams or spikes, and he knew he couldn’t let them finish.

He summoned water slashes, and thankfully, the rabbits stopped their channeling and chose to summon barriers instead. Aside from having stopped the channeling of their original attacks, the barriers appeared with little effort on their part. These barriers were large white discs, and in a way, Tesilim could see them resembling a full moon.

Using the distraction the slashes had bought him, Tesilim threw his daggers at the two furthest wererabbits. At the same time, he summoned another water slash, targeting the third rabbit that was closest to him and standing between the other two. The daggers were blocked successfully along with the water slash as three new barriers popped into existence, but the action gave him enough time to chant a spell while quickly sending a mental warning telling the rest of the party what he was about to do.

“By storm's fury and lightning's might;

Chain lightning, strike with blinding light;

Leap and bind with electric force;

And smite my foes with no remorse.”

As he chanted, Tesilim spent 25 Chaos Mana, leaving him with three, and once again, he was met with a fruity taste as the lightning began changing colors. He had to use Chaos Mana because blocking those beams with his shield and repelling the cold effects had taken a good chunk of his mana, and he needed to finish this fight. In fact, when he finished the spell, he would be down to less than 10% of his total.

Alyx received Tesilim’s message and wasn’t surprised. This was a tough fight, and if the elf wasn’t keeping the four casters busy, things would be going badly for the rest.

Having recovered from his earlier stunt. Alyx moved to support the party. Lili could handle herself, and Jasmine was alright, though her rabbit was clearly unleashing something. However, the one that seemed in the most trouble was Rose, who had just gotten up, and her rabbits had sent ten silver claw marks at the redhead, making her use her shield technique.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Actually, he might as well go big and help everyone out.

“By stone's might and earth's extend;

Let rocky hands reach and bend;

Stretch and twist, obey my call;

Grasp and hold, and seize them all.”

He chanted the spell, making sure to throw in some pure godly mana while also making the circle to give an extra oomph. His chant finished as the silver slashes slammed into Roses's shield, breaking it. The rabbit was still coming at the warrior, its paws still glowing silver as it moved for a punch.

Lili and the boss bunny danced around the small cavern. She saw how it wanted to intervene in the other fights but couldn’t. Things seemed to be going fine, especially after she heard Tesilim say he was going to unleash a boosted spell. The problem was that her mana was quickly draining, and the boss bunny was not yet at full power. She had responded in kind by lowering her boosting skill, but at this point in the battle she would run out of mana before it did.

The fight began to turn when it finally powered up after seeing its lackeys doing the same, and its paws and claws began to glow silver. Knowing something was coming, Lili changed her enhancement, choosing to forgo the aura and general enhancement for one solely based on speed. She did it right on time as the boss bunny unleashed a multitude of attacks as wave after wave of silver claw-like slashes came at her. She dodged many, but many more hit against her armor. Luckily, she didn’t skimp on armor, and the attacks only left superficial cuts that would self-repair in less than an hour. The boss saw it had accomplished nothing and sped up its whole body, glowing silver.

Thus began their quick back-and-forth battle of dodging, parrying, and taking hits. She had yet to recover her other dagger, so it was a pit of pain, but she managed. Her smile even got wider as they passed by a chanting Alyx, and she knew the spell he was about to use.

Jasmine dismissed her enhancement as soon as she saw the monster's claws begin to glow and quickly summoned her shield. A few seconds later, the rabbit unleashed ten claws of power in her direction, and she managed to get out of the way of some, but a few still struck her shield. The rabbit, now rushing at her with its paws still glowing, snarled and lunged, jumping forward with its strong hind legs.

Once again, she dismissed her shield, switching over to her godly enhancement. Except this time, when she met the rabbit with her staff, her body rattled by the force exerted with whatever ability it was using. Suddenly, she was on the back foot as the rabbit became more violent and recklessly charged at her. She couldn’t counter-attack as much since it wouldn't go well if she got hit with one of those attacks. And just as she was thinking of boosting her enhancement further, she got word from Alyx.

“Get ready. Looking to restrain.” He said in her mind, and she began positioning the rabbit away from her team and making sure there was a wall behind it.

Drex dumped a bunch of pure mana into his enhancement and chose to dive through the incoming claw blades. It hurt a lot, but the rabbit wasn’t expecting it, and Drex managed to grasp it with his front claws.

As they both fell towards the ground, Drex opened his maw once again, giving the rabbit a point-blank blast of poison, leaving behind a cloud as they fell. Landing on the ground, Drex was kicked hard with the rabbit's back legs and was sent tumbling about a dozen feet from where they had landed. Getting up, Drex unleashed another breath attack, this time in a burst of flames.

The rabbit was still disoriented from the previous attack, took the flames directly, and probably jumped out of the way by instinct. However, it jumped right at a wall, making Drex snicker at it. It looked like it had knocked itself unconscious, but Drex needed to make sure it was dead and began moving towards it.

Back with Tesilim, he finished his spell, and the lightning sprung from his hands, going straight at the rabbit in the middle. It summoned a barrier at just the last second, but the shield didn’t do much. Clearly, it had not been able to put much mana behind it. Thus, the lightning broke through it and struck the rabbit before bouncing off, striking the one to its right and finally traveling to the one on the left. From there, the rest went as it always did, the lightning bouncing back and forth. Surprisingly, it didn’t kill them, but probably by just a hair's breadth.

It didn’t matter. They were out of the fight. What mattered was what was going to come out of his Chaos Event.

🔷 Crystal Notice 🔷

As soon as he saw the notification, it happened. A swirl of multicolor sparkles appeared in a vortex that began condensing right above the spot where the center rabbit had been. The vortex grew larger and thicker, hiding something in its center as it spiraled with magical winds. Then, in a burst, quickly dissipating the magic sparkles and sending them everywhere, it disappeared, and where the vortex had been, a creature was left standing.

His powers, or more specifically, the Chaos Mana, had just summoned an actual fucking Griffon.
