I silently follow the others down the flight of stairs. Half of my classmates were sent back up to the village cause of their injuries.
We were only about 30 people left including Eadwulf and his knights. Ahead of us were two ways again. One forward and the other to the right.
Aimi looked back at Eadwulf. "I think we should take the one forward"
"Why do you think so?" I heard myself spoke before I can think about it. Well it's there so I should at least listen to her answer.
Instead, Eadwulf's voice resounded. "I don't think so. My 'Monster Recognition' skills is tingling in that direction. I say we take the path on the right"
We made our way to right as I saw Aimi follow us from behind with her head down.
I kept myself busy by being alert looking for any signs of enemies. I stagger walking forward trying to keep up with the others. My legs limp as they still hurt from the previous fight. Aimi soon caught up to me. She looks at me with concerned eyes.
"You know, if you can't continue, you could have returned with the others" She crossed her arms as she slows down to keep pace with me.
I forced out a small laugh. "I think I already said that I'm fine though."
"With your hobbling legs and pained face, you sure look fine."
"Don't worry. My legs said that it will be kicking the butt of our next enemy."
"I think your legs would be disappointed if the enemy is killed by my arrow." Looking back at us, Jason joined our conversation. Slung in his back was a quiver of arrows. In his hand was a finely carved bow with magical arrays inscribed.
He raised his bow and pulled the drawstring, shooting an imaginary arrow. "Why'd you choose to stay anyways, Iso?"
The question caught me off guard. I haven't really thought about that. "Don't you like my company?" and we shared a laugh.
I closed my mouth after that. We continued walking down as I dive into my own thoughts.
Why did I want to stay? I didn't really want to help the village. I certainly don't want to face more monsters. So why did I stay behind?
A movement stopped my train of thoughts. Eadwulf was gesturing for us to see what was in front. There were three doors, each one made with something metal.
Something draw me to the middle one. I feel that I should open it. I feel it is the right path.
I slowly made our way to the middle one while Eadwulf grumbles to himself. I was fascinated by the design of the door. I don't why I haven't notice it before but drawn symbols are now there. Must be the trick of the light when I haven't noticed it.

I raised my hand towards it, eager to touch it, to open it. I feel something's nagging at me, a sound maybe, but I ignore it. I continued walking forward the door. I feel something touching me, stopping me, holding me down, but I shake it off, fighting to go towards that door.
The moment I touch the door did I realize that Eadwulf and the others were calling my name. That was when I realize they were stopping me from whatever I was doing. That's when I realize the symbols rapidly turning to dark red magic arrays.
I comprehend that there was no middle door. It was when I realize it was a trap and I triggered it. The false door trap sets off an alarm, alerting who knows what.
Eadwulf's face pale, his eyes wide open. He quickly barks orders to the others. "Hurry, go back to the surface. Those magic circles are not just normal traps, those things signals one of the-"
He was cut off short with the sudden pressure of the room. I felt a chill at that moment and there was a tingling sensation in my back. I saw the my body is shaking. From what I don't know.
The others also seems to experience the same thing.
A silhouette appeared out from the magic arrays in front of me. My instinct are screaming at me...'Get away from him! He is dangerous!'
"-...Demon Lord"
Eadwulf finishes his sentence, and the silhouette revealed a faint, cold smile
The tattooed man looked at me and then the party behind me who had widened eyes with surprise.
The color of his eyes were blood-red, and he wore a pristine military-like clothes. It has several magical arrays inscribed in it, radiating power.
My pants seems to be wet with something but I didn't have time to think about that. I stand paralyze there in fear. It took all my will power just to turn around and run towards my allies, like any sane person would do.
Eadwulf got out of his own trance and stepped forward to protect us. His soon followed.
"Stand back." Eadwulf raised his sword in ready. He gave off his own unique pressure
"Eadwulf, House of Redsteel, it is a pleasure to meet a legend, even among the demon race." The Demon Lord was clearly unfazed by the pressure and only made his own stronger.
"Kur'an, The Lord of the West, Shadow Demon of Death, Marshal of the Demon King, it is definitely not a pleasure to meet you."
Even though the enemy is clearly a lot stronger, Eadwulf manage to joke around. I salute in respect of this man. He has more courage than I do.
The Demon Lord, Kur'an, let out an amused smile. He is enjoying this. He knows he has the upper hand.
"I'm surprise that my name's spread wide to be known by you." Kur'an said in mock respect.
"How could I not when you killed thousands of innocent lives"
I see no point in having this conversation. I look at the others and it dawn on me. Eadwulf is trying to buy us some time. He is trying to distract the demon for us to escape.
My remaining classmates already realized this before I do and they were in a middle of a chant. It was in a hushed whisper and the magical output was low. I could only wish that the demon lord doesn't have superior magical senses.
Kur'an look passed Eadwulf and on to us.
"I see that there are newly summoned heroes in tow. I can feel their powerful magical abilities just from their presence. They have such a potential. They will be a nice addition to my collection. Your head too."
Eadwulf didn't say a reply in return but instead charged forward to attack. His sword ready to slash into demon flesh. And to my horror, his head was separated from his body.
Blood flashed towards the demon's face. Screams resonated in the room. It came from the girls with us.
"Tsk tsk tsk. What a shame, what a shame" The demon slowly took steps towards us. The knights with Eadwulf tried to slow him down but all of them just got their heads severe.
I stand there, stunned again. I can feel the pressure building up again. My fear returning back.
The chant was stopped midway when Eadwulf died. We no longer have anyone to guide us. Jason dropped to his knees beside me, his will was clearly gone.
So this is how I die. I thought being summoned to another world will be fun and full of fantasies but I was clearly wrong. It can also contain darker worlds.
It's my fault. I should have known that the door was a trap. I wished that I could go back in time and fix my mistake.
