Chapter 43: [String Threading]

H City, a modest city, had long been witnessing the departure of ambitious young individuals in search of better prospects elsewhere. Consequently, the more affluent and prosperous regions within the city thrived, while the outskirts and surrounding areas became neglected and underserved.

In these forsaken neighborhoods, where aged houses and intricate narrow alleyways prevailed, only a few long-time residents and those without alternative options remained. Among them was Lynn, an orphan whose circumstances have left him with no choice but to reside there.

Before being chosen by Nightmare Paradise, he was a hardworking individual with a clear and well-defined plan for his future. After completing high school, he harbored aspirations of attending a prestigious university.

Determined to achieve his goal, he wasted no time and immediately began working diligently as soon as he turned 18, with the sole purpose of accumulating funds to finance his higher education.

However, Lynn's journey took an unexpected turn when the countdown timer appeared, signaling a pivotal moment in his life. His perspective on life significantly shifted, with the existence of extraordinary powers, Lynn wouldn't settle for being an ordinary person.

As Lynn walked through the alleys of the outskirts, he couldn't help but notice that there was a notable increase in the number of people present.

"It looks like there will be some action tonight," Lynn remarked as he recognized the faces of certain individuals—the men dressed in black suits from the Special Investigation Bureau. It seemed that they were undercover, dressed and acting like normal individuals to blend in.

Upon observing the situation, Lynn subtly and discreetly changed direction. Instead of heading towards his rental house, he made his way towards a group of abandoned houses not far away that were soon to be demolished.

Passing through a narrow alley, Lynn's presence triggered a wild dog to sense his approach, prompting the animal to emit a low, menacing growl.

In the next instant, two thin, white strings swiftly erupted from Lynn's body, extending towards the wild dog with remarkable speed. In a seamless motion, one string enveloped the dog's mouth, effectively muffling its growls and rendering it silent. Simultaneously, the other string wound itself tightly around the dog's body, ensuring it remained immobilized and unable to escape.

Lynn approached the restrained dog, he extended his hand and tenderly placed it upon the animal's head and gently stroked it. He whispered, "Shh, I don't want to attract attention."

He then left and continued on his way, as the two white strings slowly retracted back into Lynn's body in an instant, and the dog, now freed from its bounds, instantly collapsed to the ground, frightened. Its mouth continued to emit faint buzzing sounds, indicating its fear. After gathering some strength, the dog immediately distanced itself from the area, not daring to return.

Lynn stood at the back door of an abandoned and vacant house, watching the wild dog move away.

"Hmm... perhaps I should test using these wild animals to see if I can gain experience," Lynn muttered. But he immediately shook his head and said, "No, I'm not that desperate. I must always have limits and principles, or else I won't be any different from a monster."

As Lynn refocused his attention on the abandoned house, he took in the sight of neglect and desolation that surrounded it. The path leading up to it was overgrown with weeds, a clear indication that it had been left untouched for a significant period of time.

He extended his fingertips, and from them emerged thin threads of spirit energy. These delicate strings, almost imperceptible to the naked eye, navigated their way through the keyhole, slipping into the lock from the inside. With calculated movements, he skillfully manipulated the threads, engaging with the intricate mechanisms. Within seconds he was able to open the door.

Stepping inside, Lynn examined the interior of the small, dilapidated house. The floor was covered in scuff marks left behind from furniture that had long since been moved out. Mildew cluttered the corners where the walls met the ceiling. Aside from a few scraps of discarded furniture, there was nothing of value left here.

With a thought, the threads condensed of spirit energy swung the back door closed, while another thread snatched up an old wooden chair.

Lynn was preparing himself to observe the hidden forces at work in this world tonight, and hopefully gain some valuable insights.

He watched as his white threads spread throughout the room, tidying things up. "This new class skill is proving quite useful," Lynn thought. However, this was far from the true potential of [String Threading].

Over the past few days, Lynn had studied extensively to uncover the intricacies and possibilities of this new skill. Although the threads could be used for attacking, that was not their primary purpose.

After all, Lynn was still a doctor at his core, and these threads of spirit energy’s primary purpose was suturing.

By condensing his spiritual power into ultrafine threads, Lynn could manipulate them to pass through any tissue or membrane. This would allow him to swiftly mend internal wounds and lacerations that would normally require invasive surgery.

As long as he intimately understood the human anatomy, he could "sew blindly" from the inside using his threads!

For example, if Lynn suffered a fatal penetrating wound to the heart during a fight, he could rapidly stitch the injury before bleeding out. Such trauma that would normally be lethal could be repaired quickly enough to make no difference.

Of course, this level of precision demanded extreme control.

By combining [String Threading] to instantly suture wounds, along with [Cell Proliferation] to accelerate healing, Lynn could recover from nearly any non-fatal blow. As long as he avoided decapitation or instant death, and with enough spirit energy to consume, he could be theoretically immortal.
