Chapter 14: Join My Guild

When Judge found out the Lucky was an empath he was ecstatic. A mental type was amazing enough but the kid was a natural empath as well? Judge must have done something good in his past life to be this lucky.
However, after they had escaped the wendigos by jumping into that massive hole new ideas were forming in Judge's head. What if the kid was already in control of his power? What if he was already under the kid's control? Thoughts like that plagued Judge's mind relentlessly while he was unconscious, so—given his history of empaths—it was not so strange for him to react so violently upon waking up with Lucky sitting on his chest.
The kid was much, much more hostile than he had been before. That large change in personality only served to strengthen Judge's idea that the kid was an empath.
When grappling with Lucky he made sure to keep the kid distracted and focused on blacking out his mind. His genetic constraint told him that the kid wasn't dangerous. That meant Lucky was probably just a beginner level empath. Empaths at that level could only use their powers if they had direct contact with their target, and only if the target had emotions or sensations they could manipulate.
If the kid was a higher leveled empath then Judge would have been in trouble. Mid level empaths did not require contact and could slightly force their own sensations onto other people. High level empaths were the most dangerous, they could force their own injuries and illnesses onto other people so as long as there was another living thing in the area it was impossible to kill them. Of course that also meant they could save lives by taking on the injuries and sickness of others but most empaths had the slight problem of being batshit insane—like how Lucky appeared to be.
In fact, if Judge remembered correctly, the War World Guild had their own high level empath they called Horseman, nicknamed for his habit of taking the emotions from war zones. if it was only that he might have been called a hero, but he had the nasty habit of releasing them in random cities and towns across the globe. Inciting riots, war, rebellion and unnecessary bloodshed across the world that was the War World Guild's Horseman of War. There were instances wherein Horseman turned an entire town into cannibals by releasing the hunger of an entire country on it, and another where he killed an entire squad of enhanced individuals sent to kill him by turning them against each other with his powers.
There was also Time Turner from the Imperial Auction Guild. She wasn't as crazy as Horseman, she sold her services around the world as a healer who could cure any illness and reverse age. Unfortunately, she was really vain and hated getting older, so she always had a steady supply of children to dump all of her extra age on....
Yeah, empaths were pretty terrible people. Still, an empath was a definite advantage to have when you establish a guild. They were the perfect offensive healers.
If it was the Judge from the past then he would not have hesitated to put Lucky down the moment he expected the kid of being an empath. Now while he still hated their kind he had learned to keep his calm much better. What Judge was planning required strength and power he didn't have, and he wasn't stupid enough to waste a possible asset over his feelings.
The kid had surprised him with his quick thinking. Pulling out those grenades was a good move. Even if Judge wanted to kill the Lucky he would still hesitate at that threat. He was confident in surviving the blast but it would definitely force him into the unlocked mode which was something he wanted to avoid until completely necessary. But the main reason he gave in to Lucky's demands was that he was truly worried the kid would set the bombs of in his panic.
And since he was planning on recruiting the kid anyway he saw no harm in telling him about the guild and other stuff. However, he still kept his enhancement secret as that was information that could hurt him if it got into the wrong hands. He thought that if he answered all of Lucky's questions the kid would end up being more open to him. He could never expect that his openness would be seen as a threat by the kid.
Thankfully, he was able to diffuse the situation in the end. The last part was actually a bluff. While he could use the second stage to disarm Lucky, he had no intention in wasting his trump card like that. He didn't even know how long it would be until the mission was over; he refrained from checking the time in fear it might set the kid off.
"...will you join my guild?" The moment he said those words he immediately saw Lucky visibly relax.
"Bro!" Lucky leapt at him, hugging him tight. "Sorry, for threatening you! Jack was being a real meanie!"
Unexpectedly instead of more questions what he got was an apology from Lucky. But that apology raised another question. "Who's Jack?"

"Oh, he's my brother! Your my 'bro' but Jack is my brother. He lives inside my head and is a bit sensitive. Sorry for his overreaction! I would never threaten to blow you away with grenades! You know that right?" Lucky responded sounding genuinely concerned of Judge's opinion of him.
"Umm....That's okay? I guess... So.... You have any other brothers?"
"Yup! There is big bro Michael, middle bro Luke and little bro Jack! Jack doesn't like me calling him little bro, but he just acts so childish! At least I think he does, I've never actually talked to any of them. I just know that they help me when I need help."
Okay it's official. This kid is definitely insane. That's a good thing. Once you understand them enough crazy people are much easier to control than regular people thought Judge. Multiple personalities explained all of Lucky's strangeness. In fact when he thought about it back when Lucky calmed the bear he could have been using empathy as well. Maybe that's what triggered the switch? He needed to experiment and observe this kid a bit. If he was gonna be part of his guild he had to be able to control him.
"So, Lucky? What do you say? Want to join my guild?"
"......OK! Anything for bro!"
"Great!" Judge exclaimed with ecstatic zeal. Not missing a beat Judge extended his hand and a black colored slate appeared in his palm.
Judge paused for a moment as he looked at the slate taking a moment to remember all the hardship he went through to obtain this Guild Creation Slate. The reminiscing look in his eyes was quickly replaced with with firm resolve as he raised the Guild Creation Slate and shouted "God! Begin guild formation!"
[Request being processed. Requesting confirmation. Chosen [Judas Gates] do you wish to form a guild?]
"Yes!"
At his response the slate in his hand let out a blinding flash. As the light faded the slate was gone and it its place was a black ring covered in various seemingly alive markings.
[Request processed. The formation of the Eighth Guild is now underway. Please put on the ring to finalize guild formation. The wearer of the ring will be granted the rights of a Guildmaster. Upon death of the Guildmaster the ring will be left to the most senior guild member unless specified otherwise.]
Following the system’s instructions Judge excitedly put on the ring. He felt a quick burst of pain as the ring drew his blood to finish the binding process.
[Congratulations Chosen [Judas Gates] you are now the Guild Leader of the Eighth Guild in God's Dimension. Do you wish to assign any new members? Warning: Failure to acquire at least seven members within 3 missions will result in the termination of both Guild and Guild Master.]
"Assign new member." Judge said pointing at Lucky who was still a bit blinded from the flash from before.
[Request acknowledged. Guild invitation has been sent]
Just as Judge was about to tell Lucky to say yes to the prompt when another prompt appeared immediately afterward.
[Chosen [Lucky Ocean] has accepted guild invitation.]
"Bro? A weird voice popped into my head and asked me if I wanted to join your guild. Is something wrong? Didn't I already agree to?" Lucky's confused voice rang out.
"No problem." Was Judge's response.
He had truly underestimated the level of the trust the kid had given him. And as he watched a similar ring form on Lucky's finger he began to think of the boundless potential this kid could have. Not as just as a loyal teammate, but also as the perfect weapon.
