A few minutes earlier, Rave already arrived in front of the Adventurer guild, and the flow of people here is crazy; there's so much people coming and going through the entrance and exit of the door. The Adventurer guild has a huge building much higher than the Library and larger compared to the two.
Rave enters the building and immediately finds the receptionist. "Hi, I wanted to register to the guild!" Rave said; the receptionist lady was taken aback by the excitement that Rave has; she didn't even manage to introduce herself.
"Hello, I'm Amy. Welcome to the Adventurer Guild! We'll be grateful to have you as part of our guild, but you look young. At your age, some are working in a workshop instead of being in the guild; this is to avoid any injuries or incidents they might receive in the middle of missions." Amy said in concern towards Rave; it's not rare for someone like Rave to enter a guild, but most are being careful since adventurer is one of the occupations that has the highest death rate compared to other guilds.
"The name's Rave! It's okay, I'm prepared for the consequences, and I know the danger as well." Rave said as he smiles.
"Well, here you go, please fill up the blank in that paper of your information; after that, hold this stone for a while. We'll proceed to the next step after that." Amy said as she reaches under her desk and gets a piece of paper for Rave to fill up.
"Sure, give me a moment." Rave responds and looks at the piece of paper; there's actually not much information needed. The only thing that's required is his name, origin, how many skills and grade if any, grade of talents if any, and level.
'I thought skills are the only things that exist here, so there's a talent as well. That book is either outdated, or the author is too lazy to explain everything.' Rave thought and started answering the blank pages in the paper; after a while, he was done and gives the paper to Amy.
"Rave, I see, and your origin is blank?" Amy asks.
"I don't really remember where I came from, but there's an orphanage that took me in. But it's long been destroyed by the fractured, and I've been by myself for years now." Rave thought of a convincing lie to make Amy believe him.
"That's unfortunate; well, I understand. As for your skill, you have a one standard skill and a standard talent as well. Wait, Level 1?" Amy found it strange after seeing the level.
"Yes, I'm level 1. Is there something wrong?" Rave asks; he found Amy's reaction strange.
This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Well, there's nothing really strange about it, but at your age, it should already be around level 3-4. Even if you don't kill anything, you will receive an experience on any repetitive work. So having this level is either you've been in a coma or you didn't do anything at all in your whole life. There are some other explanations as well, but they don't apply to you since you're human." Amy said.
"Can I still register with this level?" Rave asks in concern.
"Of course, there's no problem with that; you can put your hand on top of this stone. Let it stay for a moment." Amy smiled as she replied to Rave and instructs him to put his hands on the stone.
Rave did it as told; after putting his hand on the stone, it quickly glows up, and a transparent board appeared on top. It's similar to his system but this board has only vague information; this might be to prevent any leakage of your skills and talents.
---
Name: Rave
Level: 1
Talent: Standard (1)
Skill: Standard (1)
Criminal Records: CLEAR
---
Aside from the criminal records which is interesting addition, the talents and skills are shown as grade only not their actual information.
"Great! Looks like you're clear as well; the last thing is your blood so that we can imbue the information into a guild card. Please give me your hand." Amy said as she asks for Rave's hand. The process was quick; a drop of blood was only taken from Rave, and nothing else. He just waits for a couple of minutes and he receives his guild card.
"Congrats! You're now one of us. If you look to your left, you can see the mission board. Missions are taken over, but you can only choose within your rank. As of the moment, your rank is 'Apprentice.' You need to finish enough missions to advance into a 'Journeyman.' Your rate will increase at that time, and more missions are available for you to choose.
"Thanks! Any advice for a newcomer like me?" Rave asks Amy; there's a reason for his question. He was able to read piles of books in the library, but knowledge and experience are two different things. He's also not from this world. He didn't know what kind of monster he will encounter once he walks out of the city wall.
"Well, most of the beginners start with herb gathering; it's safe but offers a little amount of money. The missions for the herbs are usually hard to gather, so it's a struggle for most beginners." Amy said, as she knows how this job is; it might sound easy. But missions for herb gathering have been issued for the longest time; most herds nearby this city have already been gathered and submitted, so there's fewer herbs, and it's hard to find them.
But for Rave, upon hearing this, jumps for joy. Gathering? Hard to Gather? With his system function, he can immediately find this using his inspection. 'I can pinpoint the location of the mission, but that requires the quest log to work. But until now, I don't know how to use it. Rave thought. He didn't waste any more time and said goodbye to Amy and immediately made his way to the Mission board.
After looking around, he saw multiple missions of 'Herbs Gathering' missions. 'Gather 15 Emberroot, I like this; I saw this herb in the book.' Rave thought; he pulls the paper from the mission board when suddenly he receives a prompt.
