He started feeling for mana in his surrounding, he felt like seeing without eyes. hearing without his ears and tasting without his tongue, the simplest way he can explain is that he somehow has gained a new sense just for mana. He also asked Jack about it and found out that it is the same for Jack. He concludes that to awaken the mana sense on human body ones must first experience a great amount of pain, but then that means the twins...

"Hey, Chris" James doesn't want to think too deeply into it so he directly asked Chris.

Just as James said that the door to the kitchen is opened revealing Claire that is carrying a tray of food. Claire brought meat, a genuine meat that comes from an animal and not from a monster, the difference between the two is at its core or rather its mana. A monster is a creature with a mana core at its brain according to the internet, because of that they have in their body what some would call a mana vein, that is where mana can circulate efficiently around the body, thanks to that the meat around the mana vein is 'tainted' by the mana affecting the taste of the meat.

They didn't just eat meat, thanks to James being the town healer he is quite rich as such he also have vegetables on his kitchen which has become quite a rare thing since human cant grow crops on earth anymore and there's always a threat of monster on limbo. After eating to their hearts full the twins goes to rest.

Both of them is lying on their respective bed, thinking about the same thing, James albeit in a different part of James. Claire is thinking on how wealthy James truly is, in term of material wealth James can be compared to a guild official or even the guild master himself, James own house is almost as big as the guildhall itself, he also has a smartphone with an internet connection, and many others.

Meanwhile, Chris is thinking about James himself, he have the strength to stop a charging troll which Chris has experienced firsthand and knew how powerful that charge is, James also has an unusual amount of scar on his body from head to toes. Usually, that kind of people will be the top monster hunter in any guild but it turns out that James is a doctor and not just an ordinary doctor but a healer that also means that he has magical power, but those with magical power don't use any kind of weapon and rely completely on their magic in battle but James is also a remarkable marksman. The more Chris think about James the less he understands him.

Meanwhile, on the other room, the man they are thinking about is playing or rather experimenting around on the troll corpse. James is trying to understand the troll regeneration ability by seeing its core. The core is like a brain but for mana, it coordinates, circulates, and control the movement of mana on a monster body. James is trying to understand that movement.

Morning soon came, the sunlight starts to shine through the crack and holes on the house. Without realizing it James has spent the entire night playing with the troll core, for someone without a core of their own a core is just a crystalized mana but for those who can control and observe mana even just a little a monster core is a fascinating thing, it's more than just a crystalized mana, it is like its name suggested the core of being, a blueprint, it's like a DNA that makes up a living thing, it's like a code that makes up a program, it is both magnificent and mysterious

Monster core can also recharge someones internal mana, so it is very useful for the human who has just gained a new ability to play around with mana as such it is used as the new universal currency in human civilization. Because of his profession as the town healer, every time there someone needs treatment James got paid with monster cores as such he has many more kinds of monster core in his possession but none of that cores is even comparable with the troll core. Monster usually uses mana in a simple manner like enhancing muscle, bones, tendons, senses or other mundane things, the troll, however, uses mana to rapidly regenerate its body and the more James study it the more James realized how similar the movement of mana of the troll with how he uses his.

*click* The door opens up and with it comes the blinding light of the sun.

"Ah there you are doc, Claire said that breakfast ready"

"Can you close the door first, what time is it anyway?"

"Dunno, 7 maybe 8 in the morning"

"Ahh shit, just go eat first without me. I'm going to take a bath"

"Sure," Chris said as he left James alone scrambling around to clean up his lab.
