Vol. 2 (The Long Road) Prologue to Ch 5

Prologue

The ambulance was quickly flying down the road its lights flashing and sirens wailing. Cars quickly got out of the way as the ambulance passed rushing to the closest hospital. Alan Duke lay unconscious Strapped to a gurney with tubes attached to one of his arms and a brace around his neck. A medic sat next to him keeping an eye on the monitor while pumping a oxygen mask.

Medic, “heart rates falling.”

The Driver turned into the hospital parking lot, “we’re here get him ready.”

The medic quickly readied the gurney as the ambulance pulled in front of the emergency entrance where a few nurses and a doctor were waiting. The medic threw open the back doors and jumped out. The driver hopped out and ran around the side to help lower the gurney with the nurses and medic.

Medic, “Patient has a concussion, five broken ribs unknown organ damage, broken arm, and the legs are a mess.”

They quickly pushed the gurney through the door passing the front desk.

The Doctor was checking Alan’s pulse, “in detail please.”

Medic, “Right leg has two brakes the left has one break and a bumper fracture.”

They quickly ran further into the hospital passing the waiting room’s and consulting rooms.

Doctor, “prep him for a CAT Scan and surgery.”

They quickly ran into one of the rooms with the gurney with the doors closing behind them. A sign next to the room lit up with a red light with only a few doctors entering and leaving.

The first of Alan’s family arrived within an hour of the accident and were told to wait in one of the emergency area lounge waiting rooms. Alan’s mother Krystle and sister Cassidy sat down and waited his mother worried with tears while the sister tried to distract herself. Alan’s mother has worked as a family practice doctor for over the last ten years while his sister had graduated high school two years early before heading off to college to learn genetics.

They continued to wait as more time went by then Alan’s Stepfather with his son and daughter hurried in one carrying a blanket and a book while the other had head phones in. they quickly sat down while Alan’s stepfather hugged his mother.

Stepfather, “Do you know what’s happened.”

Krystle, “They haven’t talked to us yet.”

They sat there a while longer parents holding hands while the kids kept to themselves. They continued to sit there while people walked by or waited in other areas of the room. Everyone looked up as a police officer walked into the room. He stood there a moment before walking over to Alan’s family.

Police officer, “Are you Krystle Alan Duke’s mother?”

Krystle quickly wiped away her tears, “Yes, is there any news about who did this to my son.”

Police officer, “I’m sorry we don’t know yet though we are following a lead right now.”

Stepfather, “what do you mean by a lead, shouldn’t you have found something by now.”

Police officer, “Your son was using his phone at the time. The program or app that he was using caught the vehicle and its license plate.”

Krystle, “what do you mean! I haven’t heard anything about my son yet.”

The Police officer looked down at the ground for a moment before looking back up, “I’m sorry someone should have told you sooner. Your son accident was a hit and run… um… he was hit… by a… truck.” The Police officer did not want to say the last bit and regretted it.

Krystle’s face twisted in horror while most of the family’s face’s turned pale. The stepbrother had a twisted grin before putting on a sad looking poker face. Alan’s stepfather quickly held Alan’s mother.

Step brother, “what kind of app was he using that could have recorded the accident.”

The Police officer pulled his report back out, “um he was using the Mythic Legends app that is connected to a Virtual reality game.”

Cassidy, “when did he start playing that.”

The police officer turned back to Krystle, “I’m sorry this has happened to your family but we are still looking for who did this.”

Krystle, “Thanks’… I hope you catch who ever did this soon.”

The Police officer walked back out of the waiting room as Alan’s father Daniel and grandparents walked into the waiting room. His grand father helped kept Daniel steady as they walked over to Krystle’s family. Alan’s father was partially blind and had part of his foot removed from an accident that left him jobless.

Daniel, “Any news.”

Krystle, “The police officer talked to us a bit… They said it was a hit and run.”

Daniel had a tear roll down his cheek, “do you know how he’s doing.”

Krystle shook her head, “no the doctors haven’t come out to speak with us yet.”

Daniel just nodded not knowing what else to say before sitting a short distance away with Alan’s grandparents. Krystle and her husband quickly called other members of their family to inform them of what was going on. Daniel and Alan’s grandmother did the same.

Soon the kid’s where drawn over to the TV watching a show before it turned to the news. They talked about some of the local events and weather then the accident came up.

Cassidy, “come look at this.”

The rest of the family turned to the TV.

Female reporter, “I’m here at the scene of the accident where a college student was hit by a truck.”

They where standing on the winding road Alan had been walking down. Most of the area on the screen was roped off with caution tape while a number of cops were coming the site.

A few of the cop’s stood by a tree looking at the ground with one of them taking pictures with a camera. They were looking at where Alan had been laying on the ground with numbered markers and a puddle of blood in his place.

Another group of cops were looking at some tire tracks. Near the tracks Alan’s college books were scattered on the ground with his book bag smashed.

Female Reporter, “The student was believed to be walking back late from the library on the way to the dorms.”

The reporter held a hand to her ear for a moment before looking back at the camera.

“We were just informed that the name of the student is Alan Duke…”

The Reporter went on as Alan’s parent’s phones began to ring with calls from friends, students, and reporters. They answered their phones a few time’s to people they knew but ignored the other calls. This went on for a while as the news went on to other subjects.

Eventually they just sat there in silence again waiting for any news from the doctors. Eventually about five o’clock in the morning a tired looking doctor walked in and looked around asking for Alan’s family. His parents quickly stood up and walked over to the doctor.

Doctor, “He made it through the surgery but he is still not out of the wood’s just yet.”

Krystle, “What’s the damage Doctor?”

The doctor looked over at Krystle thinking for a moment, “He has a broken arm a few Brocken ribs…”

He went on a bit trying to keep it simple and strait as possible while trying not to freak out the family. As he went on Krystle began asking questions about information and details that only doctors knew about. He told her in detail more about the damage and the steps they took to try and fix it. As they went on back and forth Krystle found out how close to death her son had come and how close he still was.

After Krystle and the doctor finished talking he quickly left to keep an eye on his patient. Krystle sat down trembling from knowledge of what her son has been through. She quickly explained to the rest of the family about what the doctor left out and as she finished the family had a look of horror and dread on their faces.

They continued to sit there while a few others fell asleep in the chairs or on near by coaches. By nine in the morning a number of family members and friends had either driven or flew into town to support their family.

Around noon Alan was out of emergency care and put into his own room. The family was allowed in to visit him but the worse part was that he would not wake no matter what the doctors or his family did. As the evening drew near with everyone looking after him they feared he may have fallen into a coma or that he would never wake up. Most of his family left that night to either hotels or back to work in their hometowns.

Krystle, Cassidy, Daniel, and a few other members of the family staid at the hospital another night. The next morning a few representatives from Mythical Legends showed up outside the hospital room. One of the two men knocked on the door waking Cassidy while drawing Krystle and Daniel’s attention.

Representative, “may I come in.”

Krystle, “What do you want?!”

Representative, “Sorry to be disturbing you but I have something you might want to hear.”

Krystle stood up and walked out of the room leaving Daniel and Cassidy at Alan’s side. She quickly closed the door behind her before facing the two men. The one that had asked to talk stood with a strait back and wore a black suite with slicked back hair with a folder under his arm.

Representative, “hello my name’s John and this here is Max.”

He motioned for the second man to step forward. Max was wearing a button up shirt with a jacket over it. The Brest pocket of the jacked was filled with pens and a phone. He wore glasses with long messy hair sticking up everywhere.

Krystle, “this better be good for taking time form being with my son.”

John, “Oh this is about your son… um Krystle.”

Krystle looked nervously at the two of them, “what is it.”

John, “We are from Mythic Legends gaming company…”

Krystle, “Go away I don’t have time for this.”

Max, “no mam please listen we… we’re the ones currently working with the police.”

Krystle looked over to max, “and how are you doing that.”

Max, “you’re so…son had been using our app on…”

John, “he’s trying to say that our app recorded what happened to your son, and that we are here to help you and your son.”

Krystle, “and why would want to do that.”

John, “We are currently working with the medical field to develop a way to communicate with patients that have injuries or that are in coma’s.”

Krystle looked back at her son’s room before turning back to the two men.

Krystle doubted these men but was looking for anything that could help, “In what way can this help my son.”

Max, “we currently ha…have developed a capsule similar to our gaming line. It will allow you to talk to each other in virtual reality or from a monitor. It also ha…has a number of medical functions built in. It can mon…monitor his pulse, breathing, Brain waves…”

John pulled out a pamphlet along with a few notepapers and hand it over to Krystle. She opened it up and began reading through the pamphlet flipping through and looked over the notes. She then looked back at the two men with a mixed look thinking about her medical interest but also worried about how it would affect her son.

Krystle, “It look’s like it’s still in its testing stages.”

Max, “we have the basic and required functions working and have been tested but we are looking for more people for…”

John, “It has finished its trial stages but now we are trying to gather more data and improve upon what we have. We believed that your son is one of the best candidates for the medical program.”

Krystle, “I’m not sure this is the best thing for him. For all I know he could wake up any minute.”

John, “Are you willing to take that chance, we are also offering to place him in a better medical facility than this. He will have all the things he needs along with some of the worlds best health care.”

Krystle, “but the cost…”

John, “we will cover the cost’s of your son… oh and your son also had applied to our company as an intern for this next summer. With his scores and ability we believed that he could become a great asset to our team in the future.”

Krystle thought about the costs and uncertain future for her son staying at this hospital or the better chances that these men have offered to her son. She has been worried about him and his future and they offered all this in one package. She also worried that there was something that John was hiding but Max seemed like a trustable fellow.

Krystle turned to look at her son’s room making up her mind, “is there… Is there anything I need to sign?”

John pulled out a folder with some papers and pamphlets then handed it to Krystle, “there are a few papers for you to sign in here along with more information about the facilities, the program, and our company.”

A few tears fell down her cheeks as she looked at the folders contents, “thank you so much.”

John, “no problem we are glad we could help you.” He said this while thinking of all the good publicity the company would get and another promising employee being brought in.

They walked out to the waiting room while Krystle looked over the folders contents and signed the papers in Alan’s room. They sat across from each other Max holding his hands together while John sat with his arms crossed. They sat quietly for a moment.

Max looked up at John, “I didn’t see anything about the kid being accepted as an intern for the company just that he applied.”

John, “Since he is one of the candidates that had a came close to matching our AI’s mapping he would be an amazing asset and as you knew he applied for the position at our company and a few others this last month.”

Max, “it’s surprising that… That he had a accident before being accepted as an intern and fit my programs requirements.”

John nodded, “many of us did not expect this either but this helps our company out even more in the long run.”

[John thought to himself, “you don’t know that it was the sons of the CEO and two board members that caused the accident. Thanks to them we almost lost the most promising asset but it seemed to have worked out for the best. Even right now as we speak the heads of the company are covering up the case while working alongside the police.”]

Max shook his head, “is that all you… you think about just the improvement of the company? What about the benefits its creating or…”

John, “It’s my job to help improve the company and look to its future.” He thought about how Max and many of the companies divisions knew almost nothing about how they are working on developing things for the government and military.

Max, “so another ne…new fellow employee. I hope he makes it.”

John, “you should see the papers he’s written and projects he’s worked on.”

Max, “You sou… sound like a fan.”

John, “you can say that.”

Krystle walked into the waiting room and spotted the two of them. She quickly walked over and handed John the signed papers from the folder. He looked at them then back at Krystle.

“This shall do just fine.”

Krystle, “when will my son be transferred?”

John, “he will be transferred out early this afternoon.”

Krystle, “thanks again.”

John, “no problem, I need to go get these finalized and we’ll be good.” He quickly turned to Max, “you should probably go get a capsule ready for him.”

Max almost jumped realizing John was right, “It was nice to… to meet you Krystle but I need to go to prepare a room for your son.”

Max quickly walked out and down the hall.

John, “sorry about him he has some quarks he needs to work out.”

Krystle, “no problem and thanks for helping my son.”

John became annoyed but did not show it, “no problem.”

They walked out to the hall John went for the front door while Krystle walked back to Alan’s room. A few hours later a few nurse’s and Alan’s doctor walked in and began to prepare for Alan’s transfer. They quickly lifted him on to a gurney and wheeled him out of the room out to the parking lot where some more of his family came to see him off. They said their goodbyes, as Alan was loaded onto a helicopter.

Alan arrived at the new hospital around two o’clock pm. They took him in and up an elevator. They continued on through to a large room with six capsules most of them were empty except for two. In the capsule along the far wall near the window lay a woman in her early twenties with long red hair with pale skin.

In another capsule half way down there was a young boy with short black hair with his right leg was missing. The boy was sickly skinny and pale.

Max quickly walked in right behind the doctors and nurses to the pod between the two people. He quickly opened the capsule and stepped aside as the doctor’s lifted Alan into the capsule. They quickly attached wires and tubes before closing the capsule the nurses left leaving the doctor and Max.

Doctor, “we’re all set.”

Max looked over the monitors, “Thank you.”

He quickly tapped a few buttons before activating the Mythical legend program. Max quickly looked at the monitor of what Alan would see.

Aaron woke staring at the open blue sky and feeling something soft behind his head. His whole body felt numb and sore as he began to look around. He first noticed Enae’s flowers around him and then the rest of the Courtyard in Enae’s domain. He began to look back and saw Enae looking down at him that’s when he noticed his head was lying on her lap.

Enae, “Good Morning Aaron.”

Max stared at the screen then over to the capsule with the young red head.

Chapter 1 Crossroads

Aaron quickly sat up becoming nervous from lying on Enae’s lap. As he sits up he still feels the numbing pain but doesn’t know where its coming from.

Aaron thought to himself, “Wait when did I log in… did I fall asleep playing. No I was just at my classes…”

Enae said with a worried voice, “Aaron are you alright?”

Aaron looked back at Enae, “of Corse I am… though when did I get here.”

“you don’t remember… well you just got back and its been a while since I could see or hear you.”

She quickly lunged forward and gave Aaron a tight hug.

“your hugging me to tight… I can’t breath!”

She quickly leaned back with a smile on her face before squeezing his hand with her own.

“I am now able to hold your hand,” She said happily.

Aarons flushed a bright red as Enae continued to hold his hand. He thought of pulling his hand back out of nervousness but left it there as he looked at her smiling face.

“Um…” Aaron tried to think of what to say to her when a window popped up.

GM Video Chat Enabled!

Mythical Legends GM and Developer would like you to join a video chat.

This confused Aaron… Why would anyone want to talk to me let alone someone that helped develop the game?

Aaron looked over to Enea who had moved to his side at looked at the window.

“What is a GM or a Developer… also what is a video chat?”

Aaron scratched at the back of his head, “That’s a bit complicated. GM is short for ‘Game Master’, they keep an eye on the players of a game and make sure all rules are being followed.”

Enae seemed to understand what he said but it just confused her even more, “and a Developer?”

Aaron, “there are many different types of developers but this message means a game developer or someone who creates games.”

Enae seemed lost from his answers so before she could ask more he went on.

“And Video chat is a form of communication… let me show you.”

Aaron quickly tapped the accept chat button at the bottom of the window. The window quickly grew in size before turning into a floating screen. On the screen a man wearing a lab coat and had messy hair sat at a desk. Behind him where a few more monitors and a door. Aaron could barely make out a few pod like machines he knew as capsules before the man began to speech.

Max coughed, “Hello Alan my… my name is Max I am a developer from Mythical Legends Studios.”

Aaron became nervous, “Um is there something you need from me Mr. Max.”

He quickly shook his head, “please don’t use Mr. it… it would be doctor Max but you can use just Max if you like.”

Aaron looked down a bit embarrassed, “um what is it you want Max”

“that’s better. Well Alan I bet you have some questions right now that you want answered.”

Aaron became even more confused, “questions? Right now I’m confused why a developer would be contacting me.”

Max shook his head for a moment, “Memory loss that can be expected from such an accident.”

“What do you mean from an accident I was only at my classes a few minutes ago.”

Max coughed, “I’m sorry about this Alan but you are currently at a medical facility from a hit and run.”

Aaron saw two truck lights flash before his eyes.

“That’s not possible I was just in…”

Enae put an arm on his shoulder, “Aaron…”

He quickly brushed her arm off his shoulder and stood up, the screen moving with him.

Max pressed a few buttons and another window popped up next to the screen.

“I’m sorry but it’s true Alan just look.”

Aaron looked at the new screen. There he was bandaged up and connected to machines and monitors inside an altered capsule.

He began to shake his head back and forth, “this can’t be real.”

Aaron quickly walked down the path trying to turn away from the screen’s but they continued to move with him.

Aaron was once again walking down along the winding road.

“Aaron Look out!”

he quickly shook his head and he was back in the courtyard with screen’s in front of him.

“Alan this is real! You where in the hospital for over a day before your family transferred you to this facility.”

“Why… what …” Aaron was fumbling with what to say as the accident continued to unfold before his eyes over and over. Tears began to roll down his cheeks as his breathing increased.

“Aaron are you ok!”

Enae grabbed Aaron turned him around to face her and looked at him with worry.

“Is it true?”

A tear rolled down from her eye, “I don’t know about what all he is talking about but some… kind of contraption with lights hit you while you where talking to me through the strange window.”

“The App.”

“yes Alan you were using our app when the accident happened.”

“What happened to me?” Aaron asked though already knew.

“From what we could tell you… you were hit by a truck before being thrown into a tree from the impact. The damage was sa… Severe. Your arm and legs where Broken along with some damage to your ribs.”

Aaron’s hands shook so he closed them trying to stop it, “then why am I not awake in the hospital.”

Max looked down from the monitor, “you also received a concussion… we are not sure how bad the damage currently is. We have another doctor coming in to have a look.”

“Am… am I in a coma?”

he shook his head, “we don’t know for sure but since the incident you have not woken up.”

Aaron stood there unsteadily with his legs wanting to give out. Enae quickly lead Aaron to a nearby stone bench he did not see before.

“I’m sorry to put… put you through this but I would like to ask you some questions about the accident.”

“why do you… why should I.”

“we’re working with the po… police trying to find the people that did this to you.”

Aaron nodded his head, “what would you like to ask?”

Max looked down at a piece of paper, “the police gave me a list of questions… um the first is do you know what type of truck hit you?”

He shook his head, “no I’m not good with truck types and it was dark.”

Max wrote something before asking another, “do you know what color of the truck is?”

“it…” Aaron thought back reliving the accident over again, “it was red I think, dark red.”

Max continued to write and ask questions as he went down the list.

“Well that’s it for questions…” he looked at another monitor, “oh it look’s like your family would like to talk to you.”

Aaron froze worried about how this whole thing has affected them, “how are they?”

Max smiled in reassurance, “Their worried about you. Do you want to talk to them?”

Aaron just nodded

“Ok hold on a moment I’ll switch them over.”

Enae had slowly switched from holding his hand to hugging his to her. As he looked at her his face turned a bright red.

“It would be nice to meet your family.”

He quickly nodded his head unable to say another word.

A moment later the screen turned to an image of his family sitting on the couch back home. Krystle and his stepfather sat there with droopy eyes as if they had not been able to sleep for a while. Cassidy was wearing pajamas like she always did when at home also sat next to Krystle. His stepbrother sat there with an irritated look on his face.

Krystle looked confused, “Is that you Alan?”

He quickly nodded his head, “yes its me mom.”

“you look a different.”

He looked down at himself, “Oh this is my avatar from Mythical Legends.”

His stepfather spoke up, “is that the video game that… you’ve been playing.”

Cassidy jumped in before Alan could answer, “obviously!”

“Cassidy please don’t interrupt…”

Alan quickly shook his head, “don’t worry about it and she’s right it’s the virtual reality game I’ve been playing for almost three months now.”

His mother spoke quickly, “How do you feel?”

“I feel fine mom…” she stared at him making him feel uneasy, “Just a light numbing pain nothing serious.”

“Nothing serious you almost died!”

He quickly looked down from the screen not knowing what to say back to her.

His stepfather tried to calm her down, “Please he was just trying not to worry you.”

She sighed, “I know… I’m sorry I yelled at you Alan it’s… It’s just been hard on us.”

Aaron nodded still looking down, “I know.”

He looked back up noticing that his stepbrother looked pissed looking towards Enae’s side of the screen.

“who is that with you little bro.”

Aaron quickly looked over at Enae, “Um, this is Enae… a goddess from…”

He could not finish as his family stared at the screen causing a long pause.

Enae quickly ended the silence, “Hello like Aaron said my name is Enae and I am one of the Goddesses of this realm. Um it’s nice to meet you.”

Enae’s face turned bright red which Aaron thought was from nervousness.

“it’s nice to meet you to Enae… have you been taking care of my son, Wait did you just call him Aaron?!”

“Yes I’ve been helping him and ah…”

“sorry about that mom here I named my character Aaron.”

“Then is she an NPC?” Cassidy chirped in.

Aaron rubbed the back of his head with his free hand, “Um you can say that though I don’t see it that way.”

[Kris jumped in to Aaron’s head, “Hay Aaron your Alright! I was getting worried about you.”]

[Laee joined in, “Oh Aaron I…” hiccup, “I knew you would be fine.”]

[“it’s nice to hear from you two but right now is not the best time to talk.”]

[Kris sounded irritated from the comment, “Here we were worried about you and that’s how to talk to use.”]

[“I’m sorry I didn’t mean it that way I’m just in the middle of talking to my family right now.”]

[“oh were are you right now.”]

[“I’m in Enae’s domain right now.”]

[hiccup, “I’ll bring a few drinks.”]

“Are you ok Alan?” his mother said worried.

“I’m fine someone was just whispering to me.”

“oh if that’s all it is…”

Aaron continued to talk to his family for a few minutes. They talked about how the family was and that they were all worried about him though they stayed away from talking about the accident as much as possible.

As they started to change to another topic Aaron noticed a light emanating from across the courtyard. As the light faded he noticed Kris and Laee stepping off the magic circle he had once used before.

Kris laughed, “I haven’t been here in a long time.”

“I can’t wait to drink with Aaron its been a while.”

“It’s only been a few days you idiot.” Kris slapped the back of Laee’s head.

His family noticed the flash to but did not see what it was from or the new comers.

“Alan what was that.”

“hunny it could have just been the screen.”

Aaron looked back at the screen, “sorry that was just a few of my friends arriving. “

Enae Pouted as she watched the other two goddesses headed towards their direction. The two continued to argue back and forth as they came closer. Aaron began to worry what might happen and how his family would think about it. Enae just tightened her grip on his arm pressing her body even closer to him.

This just seemed to piss Aaron’s stepbrother off even more. The rest of the family each had different thoughts about what Enae was doing.

Aarons stepfather reacted first, “well we should let you get some rest.”

“hold on I would like to talk to my son some more and meet his friends.”

Cassidy just shook her head and stood up, “Mom I need to get some sleep.”

“Don’t you want to talk to your brother some more?”

“No I’m tired and I haven’t gotten much sleep since before the accident.”

“Ok then off to bed you go… well some sleep does sound good.”

Cassidy quickly walked out of sight of the screen as the two goddesses got even closer to Aaron. As soon as they where a few feet away Laee jumped and hugged Aaron almost nocking them to the ground.

“oh how I’ve misssed you myy dear Aaron.”

“Get off him!” both Kris and Enae yelled.

Aaron’s family was startled by the commotion of the goddesses starting to fight over Aaron. They stared and continued to watch as Kris grabbed Laee’s hair and pulled her head back. Enae tried to pull Aaron away out of the other twos reach while Laee tightened her grip.

Kris continued to yank on Laee’s hair while Laee freed one hand from hugging onto Aaron and threw a fireball at Kris nocking her back a few feet but still standing. Most of Kris’s body was blackened by soot and ash from the fireball.

“let go of him you pest Aaron is mine.”

Enae yelled, “no he is my chosen!”

Laee was about to yell something back as Kris summoned her holly hammer and slammed it into her. She went flying back over the bench and landed in the flowerbed behind Aaron and Enae. Lowered her hammer to the side and kissed Aarons cheek as Laee got back up. Kris quickly ran towards Laee in the flower bed raiser her hammer to block an ice shard that Laee launched.

Aaron yelled, “Can you two stop ripping apart the garden!”

They didn’t listen to him as Laee jumped at Kris tackling her to the ground. Enae quickly jumped up to go and stop them from doing any more damage. Aaron shook his head before nervously looking back at the screen.

His family sat there in total shock most of them with their mouths hanging open except his stepbrother. His face was a livid red showing complete anger at Aaron. He quickly stood up on the screen.

“What the heck is that?! You rotten son of a bitch I should kill you right now.”

Aaron’s stepbrother had yelled so loud that the Goddesses heard it and stopped their fight to look back at the screen.

“Who cares about you pest all you can do is get close to NPC’s. No one likes you, your whole family has to put up with all your shit. You should have died in that accident it would have made life on your family a Lot easier.”

“That’s enough Andrew.”

Andrew turned to his father, “it will never be enough he ruined our lives one to many times!”

“I don’t want to hear this from a college drop out now get out!” Aarons mother yelled with spittle flying from her mouth.

Andrew starred at Her not moving an inch.

“I said get out!” she was in a full on rage mode her whole body shacking with anger.

Andrew stood there a moment longer before nocking some books off of a side table and marching off. Krystle and Aarons stepfather stared at him as he left and turned back to each other after a door slammed.

“I can’t take much more from your son he has beaten Alan so many times he almost…” she could not finish her sentence and looked at the ground while releasing a breath.

Aaron’s stepfather looked sad, “I’ll go talk to him.”

Krystle looked at him as he left before turning to the screen.

“I’m sorry about that Ala…”

Aaron quickly hit the disconnect button on the screen as tears began streaming from his eyes. He stood there a moment before he noticed Enae wan hugging him tightly to her.

Kris looked angry but also concerned, “Who was that Loser.”

“He’s my stepbrother… He’s always been like that.”

Laee looked like she wanted to hit something, “If I ever get my handsss on him he’s dead.”

Enae loosened her hug and looked at Aaron, “don’t worry about what he said no one thinks that about you.”

“That’s where your wrong most of my family and many of the people I know have said similar things.”

The three Goddesses looked at him sadly, “Don’t worry about what they think Aaron your perfectly fine the way you are.”

Laee grabbed her keg and popped the cork out of it.

“come on Aaron you could use a drink.”

“I’ve told you before that I’m underage and I wouldn’t want to drink my worries away.”

She still grabbed four mugs and filled them to the rim while Kris stepped close to him.

“we are always here when you need us.”

Aaron smiled at them “thank you.”

Laee shoved one of the mugs into his hands before handing the other mugs to Kris and Enae. Laee quickly chugged before giving a relaxing sigh.

“that hitsss the sspot.”

Enae and Aaron began to sip at their own drinks as Kris stared at the mug in her hand with irritation.

“I’ve sure missed drinking these over the years.” Enae said after a long sip.

“Well I can’t stand the stuff.” Kris said after her tiny first sip.

“when was the last time we were all together like this?”

Kris, “well its been a couple thousand years but who’s keeping count.”

They laughed and continued to chat about how things have changed until Aaron had another window pop up with a message from Max. Aaron quickly accepted and the screen of Max’s office popped back up.

“I hope you had… Had a nice time talking to your family.”

Aaron shook his head, “it was ok.”

“that’s good well I just wanted to go over a few details before you go out into the game.”

Aaron looked confused before nodding his head.

“well the first thing is that we will be monitoring your health such as heart beat readings to brain scans for anything that comes up.”

“usual hospital procedure isn’t it?” Aaron asked

“Well that’s just the ba… basics of it we will also be monitoring your game activity and performance.”

“why do you need that?”

“the medical capsules are still being tested and improved for future medical use. The company would also like to monitor it for any new developments and changes in game.”

“so I’m just part of your experiment.”

“no, no the basic tests are done and ready for medical use but we hope to improve upon it.”

“ok I’m being monitored and recorded is their anything else I need to know?”

“oh you… you will be logged out at certain times to see if your able to wake up. If you don’t wake up for over an hour or two we will log you back in unless one of your doctors says otherwise.”

Aaron thought over it before asking, “will you be logging me out in the middle of a quest or combat?”

Max shook his head, “No we… we will not log you out until you are asleep in game time so a maximum of four times a day we will log you out and at least once every two days.”

“sounds good to me and thanks again Max.”

“your welcome Alan, talk to you again later.”

Max pressed a button and the window vanished.

“it seems I’ve lost all my privacy privleges.”

Laee, “what do you mean by that.”

“Well I’m being monitored 24/7, recorded and… “

[“I have you guys in my head.”]

Kris, “We do respect your privacy.”

Aaron laughed, “well at least you only peak into my head because your worried about me.”

Kris’s face flushed, “I do not!”

They all laughed and continued to sip at the mugs. Aaron then asked Kris and Laee what was happening on Tellus since he was currently stuck in the underworld. It turns out that the war in the Deathly Isles has calmed down with only a single skirmish before his accident. Jonathan and Riclamin were preparing some forces to head over to the northern Island.

Opal has also been using her Pirates to monitor the coasts and oceans for any trouble. They also had received some news from the Continent that the central kingdoms were at full-scale war making many other kingdoms nervous and readying forces for defense.

Some of the other religious factions were also starting to make moves against each other and are even forming alliances. The heavenly realms have also pushed back an incursion from some underworld forces. Everyone thought it had to do something with the Dark Lord but were not sure what to make of all of it.

“A lot has happened since I got stuck in the Underworld.”

Kris asked, “So how are you going to get back to Tellus.”

Aaron shook his head, “I can’t yet… I’m in a difficult position right now but we need Kraet and her demon clan if we plan to stop the Dark Lord.”

Kris, “I don’t like it but your right we need the other goddesses to stop him. Well what should the rest of us do that are stuck here in Tellus.”

“we’ll keep moving our forces across the northern Island until we push the dark Lords forces off it. The southern Island we need to keep improving the defenses and the needs of the citizens. We also need to increase goods production to support our current and future needs.”

Laee, “All we need is mead.”

Kris, “that may be all that you need but the rest of use need more to sustain us.  But Aaron are you sure about increasing costs with out raising taxes?”

Laee Laughed before gulping down the rest of her mug.

“yes Kris if we raise the tax’s anymore we would be upsetting many of the Islands citizens. I believe we still have time before the dark lord really begins to move.”

Enae nodded, “we still have time the dark lord does not seem ready to make a full push or committing all of his forces.”

Aaron continued to think about what else to do when he noticed the flowerbed that Laee and Kris had ripped apart.

“Enae what should we do with the flower bed?”

Enae looked over at it to, “oh this should fix it.”

She waved her hand and the ripped apart bead reassembled it’s self until it looked like it had never been touched.

Aaron starred at it a moment remembering that he had partial control over the domain. He quickly opened the Domain’s control window.

“it look’s like I have enough faith points to add to the domain.”

Enae, “oh I would love that. Being stuck here only in the courtyard is nice and all but I really would like to bring it back to its former glory.”

Aaron quickly looked over the list of options available. He could add a library, Armory, Forge, Chapel, expand the garden, a great hall, Kitchen… the list went on in on to the point he could make a small city or massive citadel like the one he was at in the underworld.

Aaron continued to think over what to do for a moment before selecting the library that cost 500 faith, he then added the extension to the garden for 200 points. Looking over it some more he added a lounge for 300 points and a training field that also cost 300. The last thing he added was the kitchen costing 200 points when he thought about Enae missing things such as Laee’s mead.

As he closed the window the changes started at one end of the courtyard garden a two-story building began to rise from the ground. Aaron quickly looked around and saw railings to a wide stone staircase at the other end appear.

Aaron quickly walked to the other end of the courtyard and looked down the stairs. Rows upon rows of garden beds appeared some with flowers others with vegetables and herbs.  Further out rows of fruit trees rose from the ground before reaching a wide open square and balcony on an edge of a cliff looking down onto empty space. The open square had a few targets, straw men, and empty weapons racks.

They walked down the rows and paths leading through the new garden. Enae even grabbed a fruit from a tree biting into it with a smile. After looking over the garden for awhile they went back to the building.

Aaron opened the double doors leading into the massive library that seemed to be the size of a football stadium filled with ancient books and even a few that looked new near the door. Upon close inspection Aaron noticed they where copy’s of the few books he’s read and gathered.

They slowly walked down the rows of books towards the far end. Enae and Kris pointed out books that they once use to read long ago. As they reached the far end of the library they came to another set of double doors. Enae ran to them and threw them open and went in.

As Aaron stepped through the door he saw Enae sit down onto one of the many cushioned chairs. There were couches, chairs and tables all around the room. In the center of the room was a massive circular fireplace that was already going. It’s chimney stretching to the ceiling. Four massive beams stuck out of it like a gun scopes cross hairs. In a large square around the chimney as its center was a massive skylight with light flooding in but no sky on the other side.

Aaron looked around the room and noticed another set of doors on the right side this time. He walked to them and opened them up. There was the last addition he made the kitchen. He looked around at the multiple stone ovens, tables and counters. Unused pots and pans were organized and ready to use. There was even a massive stocked pantry on one side of the room.

The others soon followed him in, “this brings back memorys.” Enae laughed.

Kris looked around before stepping up to a cupboard,  “I remember making food here once.”

Laee took a sip of wine that she had found, “and it wasss a failed attempt if youuu cant remember.”

Kris laughed, “what about all they times we found you sleeping on a table covered in empty bottles, glasses and mugs even a few empty barrels of mead.”

“now thossse were the daysss.”

Enae shook her head, “and everyday you wined about having a headache after dinking a full cupboard of alcohol.”

Aaron continued to look around thinking the whole layout of the place seemed like they were only sections of a palace. The kitchens even seemed like they could feed hundreds if not a few thousand. He then turned back to the goddesses who seemed to have a good time together remembering the past.

Aaron eventually joined into the conversation as they went back to the lounge. They sat there talking a few hours until Aaron thought he needed to get back to the underworld.

“Do you know how I can get back to the underworld.”

This ended their happy conversation and brought them back to the present.

Enae nodded sadly, “You can return from the magic circle since your body is still there.”

“what do you mean my body’s still there?” he asked.

“You know how you disappear for hours well when you are in a hotel or a bed room you are assigned or own your body still remains.”

“what my body remains when I log out!”

“if that’s what you call it then yes your body is still in Kraet’s guest chambers.”

“I need to get back.”

Kris shook her head, “what’s the hurry.”

“there are some demon’s there that would like me gone and might even attempt to kill me… wait if my body’s there then why do I have a body here?”

Enae lead the way as they went through the library.

“right now this is only a projection of yourself into my domain. You would be able to do this in your sleep if you practiced.”

New ability Acquired!

Astral projection – ability allowing user to leave body for a time and interact with the world.

Aaron closed the window and quickly followed the three Goddesses out to the courtyard and to the magic circle. He quickly stepped onto it and turned to the goddesses… they all looked sad but ready to get back to work.

Kris stepped forward first, “you better not leave me alone for long.”

“don’t worry I’ll be back, oh and save me some undead to kill.”

Kris laughed, “I cant promise you that.”

Laee was drinking more from the wine bottle she found, “hurry back so we can drink together again.”

“I will but please no more alcohol. “

she drank some more, “Can’t promise that either.”

“I didn’t expect you would.”

The other two laughed as Laee spat out a mouthful of wine in shock before coughing.

Enae quickly stepped forward and hugged him, “I’ll miss being able to hug you or hold your hand.”

Aaron’s face flushed and could not reply as Enae began reciting a spell incantation. She smiled at him as she finished and the ring began to glow a blinding light. The next thing he knew it was completely dark before he noticed that his eyes were closed.

He opened them to the worried face of Kraet.

“I’ve been worried sick I came in here two days ago to check on you and you… you wouldn’t wake up.”

Aaron sat up, “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to worry you I was just um…  oh it was called astral Projection. I was projecting myself into Enae’s domain after I fell asleep.”

Another demon stepped forward, “that explains the symptoms milady now if you excuse me I have more patients to see.”

The demon quickly left the room and closed the door behind him. Aaron looked at the door a moment before looking back at Kraet.

Kraet laughed, “Are you crazy I was worried sick since you wouldn’t wake up.”

Aaron rubbed the back of his head, “Sorry but I didn’t even know what was happening to myself the last couple day’s.”

Kraet asked, “first time Projecting yourself.”

He lowered his head, “yes.”

“your lucky most would not have been able to do that without a teacher guiding them and keeping them from getting lost.”

Chapter 2 A Contract and Death Tournament

Aaron had been stuck in Kraet’s guest courters for over two days since the accident. As he thought about this he knew it had only been twelve hours outside the game due to the game being accelerated.  Mainly he sat there in the room guest room reading or looking out over the city.

Understanding of Demonic language increased!

Demonic Language now at basic level 8.

Aaron had just finished another book before the window popped up. After looking at the window and closing it he stood and walked out onto the balcony off his room. He looked out over the city as he leaned against the railing.

The city was always caused Aaron to hold his breath at its great size and its demonic beauty. The city stretched out into the distance with its streets looking like a massive spider web the citadel at its heart. The buildings around the citadels moat had bridges connecting to each other lit by lanterns.

Aaron continued to watch as demons either headed home for dinner or to taverns for a drink. As he continued to watch over the city he spotted birds here and there ranging from crows to unrecognizable featherless birds. One passed right bellow his balcony looking for something to eat. It had four massive wings coming from its back while its groutest face had a few random horns sticking out and a long curved gagged beak. It shrieked once before vanishing around one of the citadels towers.

As he looked at the tower the guards weren’t even fazed by the bird and continued to man their lookouts. Aaron looked for a few more moments over the tower before continuing on to the rest of the citadel. It was a massive imposing fortress that would strike fear into any enemy. It had many towers, walls, and a massive palace at the top that reminded him of a Japanese castle but had other Asian influences here and there.

There were ballistae, trebuchets, and many more defensive siege engines arranged through out the defenses. Demons moved throughout the entire thing like a massive anthill. Aaron was amazed by the entire thing wanting to go and look around to see what he could find.

As he continued to look at the rest of the citadel he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. On the same level as the balcony he stood on there where a number of balconies to his left and right but he looked left to see someone else out on their balcony that curved around the corner.

He noticed it was a young female demon sitting on a railing looking at him. She looked familiar but could not remember where he had seen her before. She continued to look at him before standing up on the railing.

Aaron began to wonder what she was doing as she walked along the railing towards the wall. He almost yelled out as she jumped to a ledge between the balcony’s that held statues of demons and beasts.

She walked along it before jumping to the balcony next to his this time instead of just walking along the railing she did a few cartwheels before pushing off with her hands. She flipped through the air before landing on the next ledge with her arms sticking out as if finishing a performance.

She took a few more steps before jumping onto his balcony and sat down. She laughed seeing Aaron’s completely shocked face. He quickly closed his mouth as his face turned a bright red.

The demon giggled as she said, “I didn’t know you could make such a face Aaron.”

“I’m sorry but have we met somewhere before?”

she stopped laughing and looked down at herself.

“Oh I forgot you haven’t seen me like this before.” She looked back to Aaron “it’s me Kraet.”

Aaron stared at her a moment confused while still noticing she looked similar. She looked like she was in her late teens while Kraet looked like she was in her early mid twenty’s. But he could easily notice she had the same eyes as Kraet a deep purple blue. She was also shorter and less developed then the Kraet he remembered.

“This is how I really look when I’m not… well when I’m not in my goddess form. Like my mother I will eventually look like that when I’m a little older.”

[“Poor Kraet… how times have changed us,” Enae said sadly.]

[“so is she like me then, “Aaron asked.]

[“not quite she has bound herself to a bloodline… well it’s complicated.”]

Aaron thought about it for a moment before asking, “Do you remember the other goddesses?”

Kraet sadly looked down, “I might have mentioned it before but I don’t remember much about them though it is slowly coming back to me.”

[“Aaron why did you have to go and ask that!”]

[“sorry Enae… I didn’t know.”]

[“What are you two going on about?” Kris asked.]

Enae started talking to Kris followed by Laee a few moments later while Aaron blocked them out.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked you that Kraet.”

She looked back up giving a brief smile, “it’s fine it will come back with time. Oh I almost forgot the reason I even came over for.”

She looked worried to Aaron, “what is it Kraet?”

“I managed to talk my father…” she paused before going on, “He wouldn’t change his mind about how he wished to deal with you and was upset that I put you in my guest corroders instead of listening to him.”

“I’m sorry that you had to go through that.”

She shook her head, “don’t worry about it… I did manage to wiggle a bargain out of him in the end. It will help get you on his good side and out of being locked away or executed.”

Aaron froze at the word executed, “He thought about executing me! What did I do to make him think about that?”

“My father doesn’t like members of other races and fears what would happen if the chosen where to be brought back together.”

Aaron thought about it for a moment, “why would he fear the chosen if you and your mother where one of them?”

She shook her head while lowering it, “I’m not quite sure but he believes that if the chosen where brought back together it would cause another great war down on us or even the possible end to everything in existance.”

“I don’t believe that we would cause a war…” he remembered the dark lord and how the central part of the continent where already starting to fight. “well I don’t plan on starting any wars but they are already brewing down here and on the continent.”

“Your right that we are already at war even if we didn’t plan on it.”

She looked back out over the city thinking about what is happening and what is to come.

“What was the Bargain that you were able to get with your father?”

“your not going to like it, “she said turning back to face him.

“It has to be better then the other options he’s given.” He laughed.

“He said that you are to fight in our annual tournament in three days or be executed instead of just being locked away.”

 He lowered his head.

“so the only option’s are to either fight or be executed. A tournament doesn’t sound that bad compared to…”

“You don’t understand it is a Tournament to the death with no rules!”

Aaron froze unable to say anything back to her as the meaning hit him.

“so he plans on me to die either way… is, is it really just to the death?”

Kraet nodded, “the tournament is to the death but they also end matches when the opponent is unconscious but it has not happened for century’s.”

Aaron thought there might still be hope until Kraet went on.

“The tournament is for only the strongest demons and their disciples to fight…”

Aaron stood there as she went on about the tournament but he could not concentrate on any of it.

“I’ll just have to win…”

Kraet, “you won’t be on equal footing as you are now!”

[“Aaron reforming the contract with Kraet could make the difference if we win this or not.”]

Aaron thought about it a moment before turning to Kraet telling her what Enae had just said.

Kraet nodded, “let’s reform the contract then.”

Aaron stood up strait and nodded.

“Kraet will you uphold the pact of old and help me unite the Deathly Isles?”

“I will uphold the pact of old for as long as I live.”

Aaron changed into Enae’s form while Kraet also changed.

Level up!

Level up!

Level up!

Your Armor has evolved!

All fire spells and ability’s now have demonic flame effects!

Fire now continues to burn till target is ash or user cancels spell.

As the windows popped up Aarons armor slowly morphed while he felt numbness from the sides of his head and lower back. He quickly reached up to his head that now had horns growing out of it. They continued until he could actually see the tips of the horns in front of him.

He slowly touched the tips of his new horns before moving his hands down them. They slowly thickened until they bulged and curved out from the sides of his head. They were a dark gray color with a spiraling pattern indentation.

He felt a swishing sensation from his back and looked back down over his shoulder. There Aaron spotted a now swishing long black tail. He almost expected a spike or sharp point at the end but instead found the tip slowly changed from the flesh of the rest of the tail to a white black flame like his fire spells.

He tried to find the right muscles to move it but had difficulty once he did. The tail was hard and confusing to use only being able to flex or wiggle it. He continued to work at it but stopped as he heard a laugh from Kraet.

[“What’s so funny?!” Aaron mentally growled]

[“what I can hear you… my mother said she was able to hear her followers voices but I didn’t expect this.”]

[“It’s part of the pact Kraet… it is good to meet you once again.”]

[“Is that you Enae?”]

[“of course who did you expect.”]

[“is that Kraet I hear? Great now the demon’s back in my head.” Kris said.]

[“Kris?!”]

[“Oh Kraet your back! Next time I see you, you owe me a sake.”]

[“Eh Laee why would I owe you that?”]

They continued to chat while Aaron began to look his armor over. His armor now had a mix of magic, Fay, and demonic runes on it. The white and black colors once again evened back out from when it changed with Kris’s contract. It also slightly changed to a mix of medieval and Japanese armor instead of a slight influence.

Aaron then opened up his stat window

As Aaron distributed his points and closed the window Kraet had finished talking with the other goddesses. Looking up Kraet was almost right in his face startling him. She quickly kissed his lips before taking a few steps back smiling.

[“Aaron you idiot!” Enae yelled in his empty head.]

[“What is it now… cant leave him out of my sight.” Kris murmured.]

They continued to yell in his head as his face turned bright red again. He stared at Kraet a few more moments before looking down.

“see you tomorrow hansom, we need to get you ready for the tournament.”

She turned back into her younger form while jumping back up onto the railing. She quickly made her way back to her balcony and waved at Aaron who watched her go. Aaron stood there a few moments more after she went back into her room.

He quickly shook his head before heading back into his room. He stopped by a water basin and splashed some water on his face before looking up. He found himself looking into a mirror. He was still in Enae’s form as he looked at his new horns then noticed that there was one more change that he had not noticed before. His eyes pupils had changed into slits like a cat.

He stared into the mirror a few more moments before going over to his bed. As he went to sit down a sharp numbing sensation shoot up his back causing him to jump back up. He had sat on his new tail causing the sensation and tears to well up in Aaron’s eyes.

He rubbed the tail a few moments feeling weird before making his armor vanish for eight hours. Letting go of his tail he laid face down on the bed. His face once again lit up a bright red from the felling of his breasts between him and the bed. He tried to find a better position to fall asleep wishing that he could return to his original form soon.

___ _ ___

Over the next two day’s Kraet told him more details of the tournament. She also taught him how to control his new hell fire attribute and even his new tail. He got to the point he could almost use it like another arm to hold onto things and even how to sit correctly with it. They continued to work together on improving his skills and what to expect when facing more demons.

The other goddesses even gave some pointer’s to help him out. But eventually they started arguing amongst themselves like usual. When Kraet was gone Aaron continued to practice and worked on formulating plans.

During his breaks he would watch the city from his balcony. The city dramatically changed as the Tournament approached. The streets and plazas that were visible transformed as if a festival was taking place. Stalls and decorative lanterns littered the streets selling goods.

On the day of the tournament Kraet came with a few members of her patrol. They stepped into the main room where Aaron sat patiently waiting. Most of the patrol was shocked by seeing him with horns and a tail but didn’t say anything.

“Aaron are you ready to go?” Kraet asked.

“Ready as I’ll be.”

She motioned Aaron forward towards the door as Spaazara walked in.

“Look’s like it’s your…” Spaazara froze for a moment seeing Aarons horns, “Trying to be one of us are you pest.”

He quickly stepped forward bringing out the demonic shackles from before.

“Can’t wait to see your blood covering the arena floor.”

Spaazara snapped the shackles into place on Aaron’s rists. He quickly stepped back and snapped his fingers activating the shackles electrical shock. Aaron visibly shook but did not yell out while Spaazara laughed.

“Spaazara that’s going to far.”

“Sorry it’s your father’s orders.”

“It’s your fathers orders to torture Aaron before the tournament.”

“That was just for some fun, your fathers order was to keep him in shackles.” He quickly turned back to Aaron, “oh and by the way the Demon Lord made a new rule for this years Tournament… No use of holy magic in the arena.”

Spaazara laughed turning and heading out the door while more then half of his strategies were thrown out the window. Kraet Stared at Spaazara’s back in disgust. A few other members of her patrol went out the door after him.

“What is he planning…” she turned to Aaron, “He will also be participating in the tournament.”

Aaron starred at her a moment before looking at the door Spaazara had just left through. He just stood there unable to say anything or the Shackles would shock him. Kraet took a few steps towards the door before turning back to Aaron.

“we better get going or we’ll be late for the tournament.” She said sadly.

Aaron quickly followed her out the door before Kraet’s patrol members stepped in around them. They quickly walked down the hall to the first set of stairs. It took the group a while before they finally reached the Citadels main doors.

As they stepped out Aaron spotted Spaazara leaving the courtyard on his lizard mount. Aaron quickly looked around the courtyard noticing the training fields and stables where almost deserted besides the few demons heading for the main gates or stood guard.

Kraet quickly led them out the gates and across the moats long bridge that they had used to enter once before. As they got off the Bridge they followed the crowds through the streets. Laughter and cheering filled the air of the streets but a few quieted as Kraet’s group passed. When they spotted Aaron they pointed and talked amongst themselves before getting back into the festivities.

They continued on for a few blocks until they reached a massive coliseum that would put Rome’s to shame.  It was even similar in design but that’s were the similarities ended. There where statues of Demons all over the outside of it with balconies here and there were a number of demons sat and other’s flew around. It also reminded Aaron of the hanging gardens he had heard about in history class. Kraet quickly led the way to the front entrance passed the long line of demon’s waiting to get in.

“Ah Chosen right this way!” one of the demons at the entrance yelled.

He wore a red robe and had gray skin.

“Will you be sitting with the demon Lord my lady?”

“yes… of course.” She said irritated.

“what about the rest of your friends.”

“Aaron here is a participant. While the rest of them are here to watch.”

He looked at Aaron, “Ah yes of course I’ll have one of my lads show you in.”

The demon quickly yelled for one of the young demons sitting in the entrance who quickly ran over. He told the young boy to lead Aaron to the arenas participant holding rooms. The boy nodded and turned to Aaron and Kraet.

“if you’ll follow me I’ll show you the way.”

Aaron and Kraet quickly walked down the hall following the boy.

They continued on passing multiple doors leading to holding rooms and animal stables. Once they reached a intersection Kraet stopped the boy before turning to Aaron. She quickly stepped up to him and took off his shackles.

“I’m sorry about this Aaron, but this is were I must leave you.”

Aaron rubbed his rists.

“That’s fine but what am I going to do for weapons?”

She slapped her forehead between her horns with her palm.

“Sorry I almost forgot, I had one of my men put your gear in the holding room that your heading to right now but…” she lowered her head, “my father would not give back your demonic sword.”

“there goes the rest of my strategies.”

She nodded sadly, “I did manage to get you another sword so you can still dual wield.”

“Thanks Kraet…”

Kraet looked over he shoulder and interrupted him.

“I’m Sorry I really need to get going my fathers expecting me.”

Aaron nodded to her as she left. He watched her walk down the hall until the boy pulled on his arm.

“Please follow me, sir.” The boy said in the demonic language.

“lead the way.”

The boy smiled hearing Aaron attempt to speck demonic. The boy lead him further down the hall.

“Is it true that you’re a human?”

“Yes.”

“you don’t look like one.”

“well I’m the Goddess Enae’s chosen… well I’ve changed.”

“You’re a Chosen Like ours!”

Aaron nodded, “yes though im not quite the same.”

The boy thought over this as they passed another intersection. After passing a few more doors the boy stopped and opened a door.

“This will be your room for the tournament.”

Aaron walked in and spotted his gear on the bench.

“Thanks.” Aaron said while fishing out a silver coin out of his gear and tossed it to the boy.

“Thank you sir… I hope you win.” He said as he was closing the door but stopped.

“Oh and sir when its your turn step on the magic circle on the floor.”

Aaron looked at the floor as the door closed. It looked similar to the teleportation circles he’s seen but it was altered and written in demonic runes.

After inspecting the magic circle Aaron began putting on his gear. He first put his knives back were they belonged before reaching for the belt. He quickly strapped his swords and long knives on before inspecting the blade that Kraet had gotten for him.

The sword was a twin blade katana. The two blades sat side by side on the hilt a small gap separating the two. The hilt was meant to be held by one hand but had enough room for two. He quickly slid the blade back into its sheaf before sitting down on the bench.

[“Thanks for the Katana Kraet.”]

[“it’s not a Katana it’s a Katsu.”]

[“oh sorry I didn’t know that.”]

[“No need, so that means you got to your holding room.”]

[“yes I’m just waiting now.”]

[“it will be a few moments before my father starts the first match’s.”]

[“be careful Aaron.” Kris said worriedly.]

[“You better get through this! I’ll get you some mead…”]

[“He doesn’t need to drink!” Kris yelled at Laee.”]

[“ill be watching you Aaron.” Kraet said after the two finished.”]

“Aaron…”

Aaron turned to see Enae standing a few feet away. He could see through her like she was a ghost but she was still there.

“Enae how… When…”

she laughed sounding like music to Aaron’s ears.

“With that last contract I was finally had enough energy to create a projection of myself.”

“You mean astral projection?”

“no not quite… with time I’ll be able to fully take form.” She said while passing a hand through the bench.

A horn sounded and Aaron looked out the small window that was ground level with the Arena floor. The crowds in the row’s of seats quieted down as the Demon Lord Stood from his seat.

“Since the ancient wars we have had this annual tournament to honor our ancestor and worriers…and it is a reminder of what could once happen again in our future…”

He went on about their history, honor and pride before he proudly announced.

“let the Match begin!”

The crowd erupted in cheers as the horn once again sounded. Aaron stood there with Enae waiting until the magic circle began to glow.

“it’s time…” Enae said sadly.

Aaron quickly stepped onto the circle and stopped as black smoke rose from the ground rapping around him. he thought it was a trap for a moment until the smoke vanished and he was standing in the arena. Looking around he saw his opponent a few yards away.

The demon looked like he was in his mid teens. He was also about two feet shorter then Aaron with light black leather armor. Aaron quickly grabbed the hilts of his swords as the horn sounded. The demon quickly vanished in a cloud making him pause.

Aaron didn’t expect the demon to teleport but knew the attack would come from behind. He quickly turned while sidestepping as his body glowed turning into Enae’s form. The demon stab missed Aaron by mere inches. He quickly grabbed the demon’s arm and twisted it behind his back and used his momentum to force the demon to the ground.

The demon quickly tried to get out of the pin but Aaron slammed down on him with his knee. Before the demon could make another move Aaron grabbed the back of the demons head slamming it against the ground. The demon tried to elbow him with his free arm but Aaron dodged it while slamming his head against the ground again.

The demon continued to try and break out of his hold as Aaron continuously slammed the demons dead against the ground. He began to cry out and slow down his movements but continued to slam his head. After the young demon started to fall unconscious from Aaron slamming his head against the ground soon stopped moving. Aaron slammed his dead three more times before stepping away from the unconscious demon.

The crowd was quiet as Aaron looked around before a few cheers rose but the boos drowned them out. The demon started to be rapped in black smoke before vanishing. He then noticed that black smoke was rising around him as well. As it cleared he was back in his waiting room so he sat down staring at his bloody hands.

Enae quickly appeared at his side trying to put her hand on his shoulder but stopped. He quickly walked over to a bucket of water and washed his hands off. His mind racing.

[“It’s only a game… It’s only a game…”]

Someone tried to talk to him but he could only think of how real it was smashing that young demons face in. He sat there for a few minutes before looking up at Enae who was worried about him.

“Sorry I’m not used to…”

“Don’t worry I’m here for you.”

[“Aaron how did you beat one of the top contenders bare handed?!” Kraet Said shocked]

[“What do you mean he was only a kid?”]

[“he is an apprentice to one of our greatest assassins.”]

[“I guess I was just lucky…”]

[“But bare handed!”]

Aaron looked at the floor the demons dagger laid there on the magic circle. Looking at it he kicked it away before hearing cheers through the window. He quickly stood up and walked over to it. Out in the Arena a large demon had just defeated another demon that was now disintegrating in death.

Aaron watched as they vanished and another pair of fighters appeared. One of the demons was about Aaron’s height while the other was almost eight feet tall. The massive demon slammed his hammer at the ground causing the ground to shake to the point Aaron could even feel it. The other just slid his sword out as the giant charged him. as the Giant demon was almost in reach he swung his sword sending a massive ink black wave out.

The wave went strait through the giant slid his sword back into its sheaf and stepped aside. The giant demons hand holding the hammer fell to the ground cut cleanly away from the body. The Giant demon stood there a moment longer before splitting down the center.

The crowed erupted in a mix of cheers and howls as the victor along with the dead body vanished from the arena in black smoke. Soon the next fighters appeared and started their match. Aaron continued to watch for a while then sat down Enae standing at his side.

He continued to wait as hours passed before the magic circle glowed again. Aaron stood up while Enae nodded before walking to the circle. The black smoke once again surrounded him before revealing the arena.

Standing before him was another demon almost a foot taller then him with a massive bastard sword almost twice his height in length leaning on his shoulder. It was stone black with red runes running down its length. The demon looked at him and smiled a wicked grin.

Chapter 3 Death Match

Aaron stood there staring at the demon trying to form some kind of plan as the Horn sounded. The demon lifted his sword off his shoulder with one hand while Aaron quickly Drew his swords and activated fire blade. The demon lunged forward swinging his sword forcing him to jump back. The force of from the swing sent him back further then he was expecting almost halfway across the arena his body changing back to Enae’s form.

Aaron quickly activated firewall to slow or even stop the demons movements. The demon swung it’s sword absorbing the flame’s from Aarons firewall.

Aaron stood there shocked, “Really!”

He quickly shook it off as the demon charged at him again. Aaron used shadow step lunging at the demon from the side and activated twin blade.  His blades cut into the demons side as it continued its swing around.

Aaron quickly blocked but could not stop from being thrown through the air again. He landed on his back a few yards away as the demon brought his sword back to the ready. Aaron got to his feet unsteadily as the demon began another charge.

Aaron used shadow step to get to the other side of the arena trying to think of what to do. Then he remembered the demon from earlier using the ink like slash. The demon came charging at him again raising his arm for another swing.

Aaron activated demonic slash sending out a wave of fire at the demon. He quickly stabbed his sword into the ground the flat of the blade facing the flames. The fire struck the demons sword the flames absorbed but pushing him back.

Aaron continued to send demonic slashes at the demon pushing him back towards the arenas wall. Aaron stopped as his mana bar had just under twenty five percent remaining.  The demon was against the wall the stones cracking behind his back. He pulled the sword out of the ground with both his hands while breathing heavily.

Aaron readied for his next attack as the demon raised his sword above his head. It began to burn brightly from the absorbed flames. The demon brought down his sword sending a massive wave of fire across the arena.

__ ___ __

Kraet watched as the fight went on worrying about Aaron. She watched as he was sent flying blocking the demon’s sword. She winced as he crashed to the ground while her father laughed.

“This should be the lads last fight, I almost expected more from him.”

Kraet turned angrily towards him, “you are wrong Aaron will win…”

“I’m sorry but you are wrong my dear.” He gestured to the arena with his hand.

She watched as Aaron continued to throw demonic slashes at his opponent, the flames being absorbed by the giant sword.

‘what are you thinking Aaron! He will send it right back at you…”

She continued to watch as Aaron stopped his assault. The demon quickly pulled out the sword and swung it launching a wave of fire across the arena. She almost turned away as the flame reached Aaron. It almost looked like he was engulfed in the flames but vanished.

The flames continued to burn across the arena as the demon began to laugh thinking it was his win. Suddenly Aaron appeared at the demons side already using his twin blades skill hacking away at the demons arms. He jumped back as the demon kicked at him while dropping the sword to the ground.

__ ___ __

The demon stood there with his arms limp at his sides starring at him with burning hatred.  Aaron jumped aside dodging another kick while sheathing one of his swords and drawing a knife. The demon put his foot back down while readying his other foot for another kick.

Aaron quickly threw his knife at the foot supporting the demon as he threw another kick. The demon jumped back up into the air dodging the blade only to receive a demonic slash across the chest sending him rolling across the arena. Aaron walked forward and stopped in front of the demon as he was trying to get to his feet.

The demon looked up at Aaron shame crossing his face before spitting blood at Aaron. Aaron just shook his head as the demon’s blue blood landed on his armored boot before slamming the bottom of his swords hilt into the demons skull.

Aaron stepped back as the demon fell face first to the ground unconscious. He quickly looked at the crowded seats that began to boo again but with a few more cheers then earlier. Around his feet the black smoke began to rise again sending him back to his holding room.

This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.

Once back in the holding room he noticed the knife he had thrown was at his feet so he picked it up. As he was standing up again he noticed the massive sword from the demon also was in the room leaning against the wall next to the knife he had kicked into the corner earlier.

Enae appeared again standing next to him as he sat down at the bench.

“good work Aaron…”

Aaron nodded as he began to feel the games numbing pain from his hand. Aaron had barely managed to get away from the flames that were sent back at him. He quickly began using the holy hand spell but stopped as the ceiling began to glow. On the ceiling was another magic circle but made up of multiple layers of rings.

As it stopped glowing a piece of paper drifted down from the ceiling. Aaron stared at it as it landed on the ground in front of him.

“what do you think it is?” Aaron asked Enae.

“I don’t sense any magic from it.”

Aaron slowly grabbed the paper before unraveling it noticing that it was a letter.

To human pest,

If you have received this letter you have either tried to use holy magic or a potion to heal yourself. Well to bad you won’t be able to heal yourself for the entire tournament thanks to my magic circle. Oh and if you try to whine about it to our dear chosen or any other demon just remember this tournament has no rules. I hope you don’t disappoint me or the demon lord.

From the Demon Lords hand,

Spaazara

P.S. I hope you last long enough so I can kill you myself

Aaron stared at the letter as furry began to build.

As he looked back at the paper it burst into flame making him drop it and jump back.

[“That bastard… just wait…”]

[Kraet worriedly asked, “what is it Aaron?!”]

Enae had continued to read the letter over his shoulder her face turned red.

[“Spaazara rigged my holding room with a magic circle…”]

[“What kind of…”]

[He created a magic canceler! Aaron can’t heal himself now…” Enae shouted with rage through their connection]

[“What!”]

Aaron attempted to use the holy hand again his hand glowing and mana dropping but nothing else happened. He quickly stopped to let his mana regenerate the rest of the way.

“It wont work Aaron.” Enae said sadly.

“I was just making sure…”

“I should have noticed it earlier… it must have been inactive or have a detection canceler.”

“don’t worry about it…”

“Don’t Worry! Aaron you wont be able to heal for the rest of the tournament.”

[“Aaron I’m sorry we cant enter the holding room once the tournament has started.”]

He listened to them a while longer as they continued to worry about him Kris even hopped in and gave her spiel about not trusting demons. Eventually they quieted down as Aaron continued to wait for his next match his anger continuing to grow.

After another hour or so the magic circle began to glow again. Aaron got up and stepped onto the circle transporting him to the arena again. Across from him stood a demon in soldier’s armor that was dented and missing its helmet.

Aaron drew one of his swords while the demon readied a spear. The horn sounded and Aaron used shadow step getting within arms reach. This surprised the demon giving him enough time to grab the spear with his free hand. While kicking the demon between the legs with his armored boot a hidden knife sticking out.

The demon released the spear howling in pain and reaching for the wound. Aaron quickly spun the spear slamming it into the side of the demons head sending him to his back. The demon stared up at Aaron in fear as Aarons eye glowed a bright red.

Stepping forward he quickly struck the demon in the forehead with the bottom of the spear. The demons eyes rolled up into his head falling unconscious from the blow. Aaron stepped back still holding the spear.

This time the crowd did not cheer or boo they were deathly quiet as the two Aaron and the demon vanished in black smoke.

__ ___ __

Sitting in the crowed Crazed sneered having watched Aarons match with pure joy from Aarons hatred. Next to him sat a cloaked necromancer and one of Mots demons discized as one of the city’s merchants. Crazed wore pure black armor under a cloak and covered his face with a demonic mask.

“I can’t wait till she is mine.”

The demon turned to him, “whom are you talking about sir?”

“oh that women that just won the match of course.”

The necromancer chuckled, “that woman seems like the weakest…”

Crazed stared angrily at his companion.

“would you like to face her since a number of your companions have fallen to her blades.”

“ah no sir I would leave her to you since you wish to own her.”

“Good man there may be a chance for you yet.”

The demon shook his head, “I’ve heard that the tournaments been rigged by the this pathetic clans demon lord so that she faces the top contenders in every match.”

“well if I cant have her alive I could always keep her around as a undead slave.” Crazed chuckled.

Crazed looked back to the arena and watched as Spaazara chopped a young demon to pieces. Spaazara lifted the dead demons head off the ground shaking it in the air as it disintegrated the crowed roaring with cheers.

Another demon passed by handing the group a note while continuing on down the steps.

The demon opened it and read before handing it over to Crazed.

“Looks like we have our way into the Demon Lords pathetic party tomorrow night.” The demon smiled.

Crazed sniggered, “Yes it sure does.” He quickly ripped apart the note before burning it.

The necromancer nodded, “it also looks like my order is finished and ready with our undead forces.”

“Perfect.” Crazed said with anticipation.

Kraet Sat there staring with bitter hatred at Spaazara who was just rapping up his match. The demon lord silently clapping at her side.

“A great match is it not?” he asked Kraet.

She sat there quietly staring at the Arena.

The demon lord looked at her, “He would be a splendid partner for you.”

“I will not accept him!”

“You have declined all the other’s offers, but this one is the last one you cannot turn down.”

“I will not accept it, I will choose my own partner.”

“Ah is this about that human that you found the other day.”

“Father…”

“This human shall die today.”

“why Father he is a chosen?!”

“That is precisely why! If the chosen are brought back together there will we another great war…”

“There already is war father.”

“Do not question me!” he sighed, “you are just like your mother…”

“We are both chosen.”

He nodded while watching the next fight, “yes you both are chosen but…”

“She would also wish…”

“Silence! You will do as I tell you… one day you and your selected partner will rule the clan and…”

Kraet ignored him watching the fight finish with the wining demon flying around creating a small tornado in the arena slicing apart its prey.

__ ___ __

Aaron continued to wait for his next match watching the other matches and talking to the goddesses. After a while the magic circle began to glow again and Aaron quickly followed the routine stepping onto it and being sent to the arena.

This time a female demon stood a short distance away with a sword whip in hand. She wore a skimpy outfit making her look lake a succubus Aaron thought. He quickly slid his swords out of their sheaves and activated fire blade.

She grinned and started to do a weird dance causing Aaron to stare for a moment in confusion. He quickly used shadow step to get to her side and kicked her legs out from under her. She fell back but used her hands to flip back to her feet almost two yards away going for her whip.

Aaron quickly cast fireball while charging at her. She quickly dodged it jumping to her side while flipping her whip out and back towards him. he quickly jumped to the side trying to deflect the blow with his sword but it still cut into his cheek.

Aaron continued to fight her dodging her whip and using shadow step to get in close but never managed to get in a good position. After a few more of her attacks he received a few more small cuts until he finally nocked the whip from her hand. She continued to back away from him until he used shadow step to get behind her and hit the back of her head with his hilt.

He continued to fight like this throughout the day with the time between fights getting shorter and shorter. He continued to receive injuries through out the day but never had his health drop bellow seventy five percent. Until in the late afternoon his match with Spaazara came.

Aaron had just appeared in the arena and saw Spaazara standing in front of him smiling. Aaron’s anger grew once again while he quickly drew his swords and activated fire blade.

Spaazara laughed, “it looks like you found my little present.”

Aaron continued to stare at him.

“ah don’t give me that and here I was trying to make it easier on you so you don’t have to suffer as much.”

The horn sounded and Aaron was about to use shadow step when Spaazara vanished. Aaron was about to turn when he was sent flying from Spaazara’s kick. Aaron slammed into the ground before continuing to roll across the arena. He quickly got to his feet as Spaazara walked towards him.

“your this weak and you made it this far what a joke.”

He vanished again so Aaron used Shadow step to get above the arena in a free fall trying to spot Spaazara. He spotted him as he looked up and vanished Aaron quickly activated Shadow step again and to get back down in the arena his back against the wall. Spaazara appeared to his left and threw a jar of poison. Aaron jumped to the side as the jar shattered against the wall.

Aaron turned to face Spaazara but he was not there. Aaron turned in time to see Spaazara swinging his sword at him. he quickly brought up his swords to block the swing. Aaron was slammed into the wall as one of his swords broke. Aaron shadow stepped across the arena to get some distance.

“Keep running pest.”

Spaazara appeared right in front of Aaron as he was drawing one of his long knives to replace the broken sword. He quickly dodged another swing from the great sword. Aaron continued to dodge and block swing after swing as Spaazara came at him. slowly Aaron was able to read his moves allowing him to get a few of his own swings in.

Spaazara vanished again and Aaron jumped while turning to face an oncoming attack. He managed to dodge Spaazara’s surprise attack giving him an opening. Aaron quickly tackled Spaazara while trying to stab him with his long knife but was unable to brake through his armor.

Spaazara grabbed him with both arms and began to knee his exposed stomach causing him to drop his weapons. Aaron tried to break free before he spat in Spaazara’s face. He quickly started to head butting him repeatedly gouging Spaazara’s face and neck with his new horns.

__ ___ __

Kraet watched worriedly as Aaron’s match with Spaazara started. She watched in horror as he was kicked across the arena. The demon lord laughed watching as Spaazara beat Aaron in Enae’s form to a pulp.

“this look’s like it will be a short fight.”

“Aaron will turn this around.”

The demon lord turned to his daughter.

“He is going to lose and this fight tournament will finalize your partnership with Spaazara.”

“I will do no such thing.”

“watch as the human pest is finished off.”

Aaron dodged a vile of poison before blocking an attack from Spaazara. Soon Aaron was being forced back blow after blow.

“it will be finished any moment now.”

“Not the way you think father.”

He looked away from the match for a moment looking at Kraet before turning back. Aaron was now head Butting Spaazara repeatedly gouging him.

“See Spaazara is going to loss this.”

The demon lord stared at the scene in anger.

__ ___ __

Spaazara continued to back up holding his throat and chanting something. Aaron readied to use Shadow step when three death hounds were summoned. He quickly took a few steps back beginning to worry about what to do next.

The death hounds began to circle around Aaron as he looked back and forth looking for the first attacker. The first hound behind him lunged at Aaron aiming for his neck. He quickly jumped to the side while cutting off one of the hounds legs with his long knife. As the hound landed in a heap the next one lunged at him.

Aaron quick ducked under the hound bringing up his sword to cut open its stomach.  As the hound went over him it intestines landing on Aaron covering him in rotting flesh. He quickly got to his feet as the next one came at him.

Aaron quickly leaned to the side the hound’s claws grazing him his health dropping bellow fifty percent. He quickly dodged the third hound while swinging for the split open hounds neck. The blade severed the hound’s head killing it.

Aaron turned back to the next hound coming at him but instead of dodging he brought his sword up in front of him. He quickly stabbed it into the hound as it was charging him. The blade buried itself deep into the hound’s chest while sending Aaron to his back.

Aaron quickly rolled out from under the disintegrating hound while pulling his sword out.  The hound with one of its legs missing tried to jump at him but missed allowing Aaron to cut another of its legs off.

Aaron was about to finish off the hound as Spaazara appeared right next to him bringing down a dagger at his chest.  He quickly jumped out of the way into the oncoming hounds charge.

It lunged at his throat sending him to the ground and his sword flying. Aaron was pinned as the hound continued to snap at his face. He began to stab into the hound repeatedly with his long knife as it clawed away at his armor and exposed flesh.

Aaron finally stabbed his blade into it’s chest again guessing it was near the things heart and twisted the knife. The dog howled in agony before dropping down on him. he quickly pushed the dog off him and struggled to his feet.

Aaron quickly looked around seeing the last hound trying to crawl with two leg’s but not Spaazara. He was beginning to turn when he felt something stab into his back. Aaron quickly shadow stepped to behind above Spaazara and stabbed into his neck while forcing him to the ground.

Aaron noticed his health bar was now flashing an orange red as he prepared for another swing. Spaazara quickly elbowed him nocking the blade from is hand. Now weaponless Aaron rapped his arms around Spaazara’s neck and tightened his grip chocking him.

Spaazara became frantic elbowing and trying to toss him. Aaron quickly locked his legs around him and continued to receive the blows. Soon they rolled and Aaron was starting to be crushed by Spaazara’s weight.  He quickly tightened his grip even more until Spaazara’s blows and movements began to slow and eventually stop.

He kept his grip around Spaazara’s throat a while longer to make sure he wasn’t faking it before releasing his grip. Aaron quickly lifted Spaazara up as much as he could before sliding out.

Aaron took a few steps back and began using holy hand to heal himself but it also burned him from his new demonic traits. Looking around he noticed the last hound had bleed out and was now disintegrating.

Slowly he looked back at Spaazara black smoke began to rise around him and Aaron. He quickly stepped forward but found himself in his holding room. Aaron began to curse at himself for not finishing him.

__ ___ __

Kraet covered her mouth with her hand to keep herself form shouting out to Aaron as she watched him struggling against the death hounds. Her father sat there smiling away as he watched.

“I told you my dear it was only a matter of time.”

She didn’t say a word back fearing what would happen next. She almost cried out as Aaron was sent onto his back for a second time. But was happy to see him finally get back up from the hounds attack.

Then she noticed Spaazara appear behind Aaron while drawing a knife.

This time she cried out as Aaron was stabbed in the back.

“Aaron no…”

The demon lord was about to shout something at her but stopped seeing Aaron vanish and appear above Spaazara stabbing his own blade. They fell on the ground, which began a short brawl leading to Aaron chocking Spaazara.

The Demon lord growled, “you fool you almost had him.”

Kraet smiled as Aaron got out from under Spaazara and stood as the victor.

“I told you father Aaron would win.”

“he was lucky… besides he wont make it through the final rounds with those injury’s.”

Kraet watched sadly as Aaron once again vanished.

__ ___ __

Enae appeared as he let himself fall onto the bench. Her face was covered in fear and worry.

“Aaron there… there’s a knife sticking out of your back.”

Aaron quickly looked over his shoulder while feeling around for Spaazara’s dagger. Once he found it he pulled it out howling as the games numbing pain increased. Dropping the dagger he quickly rummaged in his pack and grabbed out his remaining bandages.

“My dear Aaron…” she tried to comfort him but her arm went strait through him.

Aaron looked sadly at her as he quickly began to bandage his wounds the best he could but it was still awkward. As he finished he looked at his health bar, which was now over forty five percent. Looking across the room Spaazara’s Great sword was now added to the collection against the wall while his sword and long knife sat on the ground in the magic circle.

“I actually beat him…” Aaron said to himself.

“Barely Aaron it was practically a draw.”

He quickly picked up his blades and put them back in their Sheaf’s while listening to Enae.

Aaron barely waited almost ten minutes when the circle began to glow again. Aaron completed another two matches against opponents that weren’t even close to being as strong as Spaazara. During the beginning and before they were surrounded by the teleportation smoke Aaron healed himself to just over eighty percent.

When the second match ended only the demon vanished in smoke giving Aaron a bit more time to heal. Then Aaron froze where he stood as the demon he watched earlier with fascination appeared. The demon that used a ink like demonic strike.

Chapter 4 Mythical Legends Stories

Lucky along with a number of players and NPC Soldiers had finally arrived at the City of Silver. They were lead by Jonathan an NPC and Knight Captain under the Chosen. Aaron had sent a message for Jonathan and his knights to help Riclamin Silvershaper restore order to Silver city.

Jonathan had gathered his fellow NPC knights to head for silver city. Jonathan also offered a quest to the players to assist. Many of the players did not believe they could make it due to the high level monsters of the Deathly Isles. Eventually only the higher level players who learned under Jonathan joined.

Lucky was one of the players that had managed to get past Jonathans training. He was able to get up to level 40 through the month of training. He even managed to earn enough coin to purchase a great sword and battle-axe.  His armor was mainly made up of chain maile along with a helmet and chest plate.

The other players also wore similar armor though most of their gear was a mix of parts for different armors. In total there were almost two hundred players that joined the six hundred knights and band of clerics. When they left the city of Laee the players were amazed at how realistic the NPC’s acted with Knights saying goodbye to their family’s and promising that they would come back. The force left the city with cheers.

As they traveled along the road they faced a few small bands of bandits and monsters. Not one knight died in combat but the players were another story. As they traveled a hand full of players died in combat dropping equipment and were forced to stay logged out for a day. Eventually most that died joined back up with the knights when they were able to log back in. over thirty players died on the trip and only twenty one of those players managed to catch back up with them.

Eventually about two thirds of the way to Silver city a message popped up for all the player’s that the war for the deathly isles had started. This event excited them but they became even more worried about what was going to happen.

Lucky was one of a hand full of players that noticed a priestess from the small group of clerics hurried over to Jonathan. If lucky remembered correctly The Priestess was April Rosland from the city’s temple.

Jonathan smiled as he spotted April, “Oh if it isn’t April how may I help you my dear.”

“I just got word from our chosen and the Goddesses.”

“Oh I forgot you clerics could communicate with the Goddesses… did something happen?”

“The chosen was captured by pirate’s almost a week ago but they are now working with the chosen.”

Jonathan rubbed his chin before asking, “so does he need rescued?”

She shook her head, “No he they have joined our chosen and have taken him to his destination though…”

“go on.”

“Aaron has found the chosen Kris but they need assistance the dark lord has invaded.”

Jonathan thought for a moment, “We’ll continue on to Silver city but we need more men. Can you send word to your churches and temples for volunteers well depart from Silver city in just over a week… now how are we going to get ships…”

“The Pirates are sending ships so we’ll be fine on transportation… ill send the word out for volunteers.”

April quickly returned to the other clerics while Jonathan began to give orders to his knights. Lucky watched this with interest while the few other players around him talked to each other in excitement. It took them about four days to get to silver city. Lucky was able to level up to level up over the whole trip making it to level 52.

Lucky was amazed by the view of the old city. It looked like portions of the city and walls were under construction while a large camp was forming around the main gate. The city was about the same size as the city of Laee but had a large port. Lucky could not wait to look around. Riclamin and a guard captain of the city met Jonathan and his men at the city gates.

Riclamin smiled as they approached, “welcome to the City of Silver Jonathan, I’m Riclamin.”

Jonathan shook his hand, “Nice to meet you Riclamin.”

“Captain is he able to use the Barracks?”

The guard captain turned to Riclamin.

“There is room since the guard is not staffed as it once was but we are starting to have more men join, but I don’t think all his knights can fit sir.”

As they were talking April walked up carrying her cleric staff.

“Jonathan the first of the ships should also be arriving today.”

“thanks April… oh let me introduce you to Riclamin.”

Riclamin quickly bowed to her pulling off his hat before standing back up and replacing it.

“A pleaser to meet you April.”

She smiled, “its nice to meet you to Riclamin.”

“May I ask what ships are coming?” Riclamin asked.

“We received word that the chosen need our assistance on the northern island so the chosen’s pirate fleet is coming.”

“we still need help here in silver city will you be leaving any of your men here Jonathan?”

“I will leave a squad or two but we most likely will be needing as many men as possible…”

they continued to talk as Lucky and most of the players continued to stream into the city to look around.

Most of Alan’s family had not even heard of the game Mythical Legends but since Alan was now stuck there his family ordered a few gaming units that they were waiting on. But Andrew was the exception since he already owned a basic helmet unit since it was the only one he could afford.

Andrew quickly logged in after shutting the door to his room. The virtual world quickly formed around him. He was sitting in one of his guild’s tents where the rest of his guild officers were waiting. Andrew was the leader of Fury Vanguard that was currently the 9thranking guild.

“Dread we’ve been waiting for you.” A knight said siting next to a cleric.

He easily recognized the two that had lost to his brother in the tournament.

“Is everyone ready to head out.” He asked

“Yes dread the rest of our guild is ready.” Said Aluora.

Dread looked over to Aluora smiling. She had started out as an elf sorceress but had changed to a summoner. Though she started as a forest elf she had fallen to a Dark elf from a number of things such as her chaotic nature. She had blond hair and white skin when she started but now her skin was a deep tan brown her hair turning metallic silver. Dread had been going out with her since the start of the game and even fought alongside each other in the tournament.

Dread quickly looked around at his officers Aluora was the officer in charge of the summoning, elementals, and taming Division. Next to her was another female with long black hair in a witch’s outfit though both Aluora and her wore revealing outfits. She was in charge of the Mages Division. Sitting on a stool next to her was Halfling tinkering with some tools. He was in charge of the Craftsmen Division though they didn’t truly fight.

Dread looked to his right Standing against the wall stood a human Archer hidden in his cloak. He was in charge of the Archers Division that also had other forms of long-range fighters. The worrier that had first talked to him was in charge of the melee fighters Division his second in command stood next to him. He was a dwarf leaning on a massive war hammer starring angrily at the cowering cleric. The cleric sat next to the warrier in his white robes with his staff leaning against his shoulder. He was in charge of the support Division that healed and buffed the rest of the guild.

The Fury Vanguard had purchased a small guild hall in the capital of the Redstone kingdom but the guild was slowly moving out of the kingdom and out to the north west to escape the war between guilds while gaining more strength and territory. As they’ve traveled they started to farm dungeons for loot and to help raise their members levels. The guild originally started out with just over twenty members after the tournament and has rapidly grown.

They now had over six hundred members and still growing. Most of the members were quickly leveling up due to the dungeon farming with the average player now at level seventy. After farming a dungeon for a week in game time they move on to the next one as they worked their way to the border of the kingdom.

Dread smiled while putting an arm around Aluora’s shoulder.

“We will be heading out to one of the kingdoms near the coast to set up a base of operations.”

The cleric looked up at Dread.

“what are we planning to do there?”

the warrior elbowed him.

“we already discussed this.”

Dread held up a hand to stop him.

“We are planning on taking over the territory and eventually the kingdom.”

“Aren’t we going to go after Aaron?” the Archer asked

“Yes in due time but first we need to build up our forces before we can face him.”

The warrior growled angrily looking at dread.

“As I said before we should attack him now while he is weak.”

The witch shook her head laughing causing everyone to look at her.

“If the information that we’ve gathered about him is true he already owns plenty of territory himself. He also has the support of some group of goddesses though ive never heard of them before.”

The dwarf laughed while he shook his head.

“Gods don’t interfere with anything in this game they have their followers do their dirty work for them.”

Aluora stared at the dwarf in irritation while Dread shook his head.

“I have just learned that he now controls a pirate fleet so his islands are now to defended to reach without building our own fleet.”

The Halfling looked up with a smile on his face.

“we can build anything you wish Dread just give us the needed resources.”

Dread nodded, “And that’s why we need to take control of a kingdom so we can reach him.”

They continued to discus idea’s and make plan’s for another hour. After they finished they left the tent to an open field were their guild member s were gathering and disassembling the camp. When a group of female guild members spotted them they called out to Dread. About a third of the females in the guild had a crush on Dread due to his avatars looks and how he act’s around his guild members irritating a few of the male guild members.  As the rest of the guild noticed him they headed over to listen to what he had to say.

Dread cleared his throat before specking.

“We are now heading for the Alter kingdom…”

Kris and Laee sitting on horse looking down from a hill over large fields surrounding a town. Demons were forming up around the town’s perimeter with mot starring right back at the two. Kris and Laee have continued to fight against the demons pushing them back across the island. Its been over a week since Aaron was trapped in the netherworld and they have managed to free multiple towns and regroup with separated forces gathering a few here a hundred there. Now they had found Mot’s main force as they finally crossed a third of the island.

Behind them were almost a thousand cavalry on their horses. To the left and right of their hill were formations of infantry and archers with a number of clerics mixed in among the forces. Above them flew a few fay but there was not many.

All together Kris and Laee lead just over two thousand troops and volunteers made up of humans and fay while they faced an enemy made up of almost three thousand demons. They looked out over the fields as the demons continued to gather.

Laee whined holding an empty bottle, “I wish I had some mead.”

Kris sighed while grabbing Laee’s bottle and throwing it away, “you don’t need mead and get ready.”

She quickly summoned her large holy hammer.

“Infantry and Archers are to hold position, Cavalry ready to charge!"

She looked back at her men for a moment before looking forward and raised her hammer.

“Charge!!!”

Kris quickly set her horse into a fast trot down the hill with Laee at her side. The rest of the cavalry followed behind them. They continued to gather speed as they neared the bottom of the hill and out onto the fields.

As they neared the demons forces a wave of arrows flew at them. Kris quickly cast a massive holy barrier while Laee started to launch a number of fireballs at the demons. More then half of the arrows disintegrated on contact with the Barrier but the rest managed to make it through hitting a number of her soldiers. The fireballs crashed into the Demons burning through flesh and sending others flying.

As they drew closer Kris raised her free hand and began casting holy light sending rays of light from her hand into the demons. The light rays cut through those it came into contact with and blinding others that where to close to the light.

Kris readied her hammer as she drew close to the forward demons. She quickly slammed her hammer into the closest demon sending him and another two demons crashing to the ground.  She quickly swung her hammer across to her other side as a demon brought a sword up to swing.

Laee continued to launch fireballs into the demons while chanting another spell. The Cavalry then crashed into the demons with lances and swords hacking their way into the demon formation. They continued to force their way into the demon mass until their momentum started to come to a stop.

Kris Yelled to her men, “Fall back!”

Laee finished her chant sending waves through the ground deeper into the demons army. The ground lifted and fell sending demons flying and others into pits that formed in the ground before filling in.

The soldiers quickly broke off from the attack heading back across the fields with the enraged demons running after them. Kris quickly signaled Laee with her free hand and she nodded. They both broke off from each other one heading to the right side of the hill the other to the left the soldiers dividing and following the two.

The archers had climbed the hill and where in position the infantry surrounding the base with a shield wall in place. Kris and Laee slowed their pace as they rounded each sides of the hill with the first demons almost a hundred yards behind them. As they reached the backside of the hill the divided cavalry passed each other with a few feet between them.

They finished rounding the hill as the archers began to fire into the demons ranks. Demons began to fall in clumps here and there under the rain of arrows. The two groups of cavalry began to pick up pace again as they rounded the edge of the fields.

The first of the demons crashed into the shield wall but did not brake through. The second row of infantry stabbed over the shield wall and their fellow solders into the demon mass. The demons continued to press in on the shield wall causing it to bulge in some areas but still held.

Kris turned her cavalry into the fields almost halfway through the demons spread out forces. She started to cast holy light again burning through the demons. As she neared she readied her hammer. She quickly brought it down on the demon smashing its chest plate in. the cavalry crashed into the demons soon after braking through with lances and hacking away with swords.

Laee turned her forces deeper into the fields as they hit the halfway point in the demons forces. She quickly threw fireballs at the demons in front of her as she began to cast firewall. The soldiers behind her continued to work their way through the demons as Laee finished casting her spell dividing the demons with a massive firewall stretching across the fields. The demons that ran into the firewall quickly began howling in pain as their flesh burned.

Kris finally broke through the demons with her soldiers right behind her. They slowed their pace and began to turn back for another pass behind the hill. Coming to a stop behind the hill they exchanging their tired horses for new ones. The men also quickly drank from their water skins while Kris quickly checked on her infantry.

The infantry and their shield wall were pushed back a few yards with a large pile of demons in front of them while more continued to clime over their comrades. The archers continued to fire arrows in steady waves deeper into the mass of demon. Wounded started to mount as more injured where brought to the backside of the hill to be treated by clerics. Kris looked on sadly but soon was on a horse again heading out for another charge.

Laee continued on through the demons firing fireballs and lightning bolts. She finally made it through the demons along with most her men as Kris was heading in for another charge. She quickly led them around to the backside of the hill to exchange their horses like Kris’s men had. They took a moment to rest and drink water before charging back out into the fields.

They continued to do hit and runs killing almost half the demon forces before the rest were able to break through the firewall. The few remaining from the first half fell back to the demons that broke through. Laee had been preparing for this and was already chanting firestorm.

This time the demons began to work their way forward though the disintegrating dead in a tight formation. As they began to near the hill Laee finished chanting her spell as she joined the infantry. Fire began to rain down from the sky into the demon formation and much of the fields. Demons flew into the air disintegrating or crashing into others around them.

The demon formation quickly fell apart in panic as demons began to brake apart into groups running for the forests or town. Mot In the rear began to yell orders at them but they did not listen. He killed one of the demons trying to stop the rest from retreating but they weren’t even paying attention.

Mot yelled in anger before leading the largest retreating mob back towards the town as Kris divided up the Calvary into four to chase after the demons heading for the hills and forests. Then Laee ordered over two thirds of the infantry and archers to follower her while the rest were to guard the wounded and tired horses.

As the demons ran clear of the fire storm Laee deactivated her spell allowing her men to cross the field. The demons reaching the town began activating teleportation circles to escape as arrows began to fall on them. As the last of the demons were getting onto the magic circles Mot yelled in anger at Laee.

“You may have won this battle fallen but this will end in our victory for the great lord cannot be defeated!”

Laee watched as Mot vanished with the last of his men before giving orders to search the town for any enemy or survivors. Laee lead the first of her soldiers into the town as Kris joined them. As they entered the town they looked on sickened at what they found.

Bodies lay here and there disintegrating as they approached. The few survivors that were in the streets were women in rags who had been raped and beaten while a few children walked aimlessly about calling for their parents or staring off at nothing with dead looking eyes. A few men were still alive but barely while one was being held by a woman that was crying.

Kris cried out, “This is sick… I hate demon’s!!!”

Laee put a hand on Kris’s shoulder trying to calm her as their soldiers rushed forward deeper into the town.

Laee quickly ordered the clerics that were with them to treat the wounded. They continued on through the town as their men searched the buildings. Kris and Laee reached the town square finding a pile of disintegrating bodies and townsfolk tied up in groups. Kris and some of the soldiers ran forward to cut the rope off them while Laee contacted the priests back at the hill to send more clerics to the town.

They continued to search the town and help the survivors while destroying the demons magic circles that they found. At the end of the day they new the numbers, half of the town was either dead or taken as slaves. they lost almost four hundred soldiers to the demons while another two hundred were injured. The demons lost over half of their forces while more continued to be hunted as they continued to flee.

Siting at a table in one of Redstone’s taverns at the capital Kevril Falconsflight a warrior and Merlin Wizardsblood a Halfling wizard were looking at their guild windows with some books and papers on the table. Merlin was looking over the finances and guild inventory while Kevril looked over the guild member’s levels and available stats.

Kevril nodded as he finished reading the list.

“Looks like everyone in the guild has finally completed the dungeon.”

“That’s good to hear…” Merlin continued to look at his window while jotting down notes.

“We also have managed to get everyone leveled up to at least seventy five.”

Merlin looked over to Kevril who was now tacking a sip of ale.

“All two hundred members? That’s suppressing I thought the newer members were around level fifty or so.”

“just remember how difficult that dungeon was.”

“That means everyone has one of the rings now.”

Kevril nodded slipping his ring off.

Ring of the Sentinels:

A ring given to the Goddesses peacekeepers after their first Pilgrimage trials.

Goddess’s blessings

+200 Mana Laee’s Blessing

Divine Health +200 Health Kris Blessing

Spell sword x2 Agility Kraet’s Blessing

Elven Heightened Senses Elyse Blessing

Beast Enhanced Strength Loraaga

Holy Demonic Smite – deal double damage once a day Enae’s Blessing

Kevril put the ring back on as he thought about the other items they found. Besides the rings they also received plenty of loot and gold from the dungeon monsters along with the books and papers that were now on the table.

The books could not be read currently do to the ancient language and codes used but were believed to hold the history of the Sentinels or even skills. The papers had riddles and maps of where to find other trials and ancient strongholds.

Merlin closed his window while finished the last of his notes.

“Looks like we have around ten thousand gold… we could probably afford a guild hall now.”

Merlin looked over to Kevril who was shaking his head.

“I don’t think we should right now, we still need to learn more about the Sentinels and meet up with Aaron.”

Merlin began putting a few of the books and papers back in his bag.

“well if we do that we’ll need supply’s, transportation… well we don’t really even know where to go next.”

Kevril grabbed one of the papers off the table as Alimore Serpenthelm a cleric and Marcella Dawntracker a elven archer walked in talking excitedly to each other. They quickly spotted Kevril and Merlin and headed for their table.

Marcy grabbed her bow off her back and set it on the table smiling.

“With all the gold I earned from the dungeon I decided to get a new bow.”

Kevril looked over the bow, “looks nice does it have any abilities or special features.”

She shook her head sadly.

“No not really just better durability and higher damage rate… I couldn’t really afford the better bows.”

Marcella set the bow next to her chair before putting a hand on Ali’s shoulder.

“But Ali her got a great deal on some gloves.”

Ali’s face turned bright red as she handed the gloves to Merlin. He used identify on it and whistled.

Holy Gloves:

Cleric gloves that lower the mana costs for holy magic’s and doubles healing spells health generation.

“nice find!” Merlin handed the gloves back to her.

Marcella turned back to Kevril who was looking at one of the papers.

“find anything?”

They all looked at Kevril as he handed the paper to her.

“look’s like the next trial dungeon is in Alter.”

Alimore looked up trying to remember something, “isn’t that a long ways from her.”

Kevril nodded, “it’s a country or two away but not to far away.”

Marcella, “when do we leave?”

Kevril, “not for another week or so.” He turned to Merlin, “do you know anything about the country.”

Merlin pushed up his glasses, “not much is known yet about the Alter kingdom but I have heard that the Fury Vanguard have crossed its border and are starting to set up camp.”

Marcella, “you mean one of those big time guilds?!”

“You can say that since they are currently ranked as the ninth largest and possibly one of the stronger guilds out there.”

Alimore began to look worried, “Aren’t they known for farming and searching for dungeons?”

Kevril looked down at the paper as Merlin looked over some his guild notes.

“Yes they are quite well known for farming… that might not go well if they find our dungeon.”

Kevril nodded, “we’ll need to be careful with them.”

Chapter 5 Victory?! General!!!

Aaron continued to stare at the demon that could overpower his opponents in seconds. The demon slowly drew his sword looking back at him with no emotion. The horn sounded braking Aaron from his shock.

Aaron quickly activated fire blade while raising his two swords in front of him. He watched as the demons sword began to be emit a ink like substance. Aaron quickly activated Demonic slash swinging one sword before the other.

The demons ink like demonic slash launched at him growing in size as Aarons attack flew across the arena. He quickly activated shadow step as the two attacks met twisting around each other before exploding.

Aaron appeared next to where the demon had been standing but he was no longer there. He soon felt sharp pain as he was turning around with a force sending him flying a few feet away. Hitting the ground he rolled to his feet and began to turn.

As he began to cough up blood he spotted the demon slowly walking towards him. Aaron quickly activated shadow step again to get at the demons side while and activating twin blade when he was close enough.

The demon didn’t even turn as he blocked each swing before kicking Aaron. He staggered back a few steps as the demon turned to him bringing down his blade. Aaron blocked it with both his swords the force of the blade sending him down to one knee. He finally managed to stop the blade as one of his swords cracked.

Aaron quickly jumped back before the demon could attack him again. The demon charged after him as he tried to plan his next move. The demons sword began to form the ink again as he brought it up for another swing.

Aaron quickly ran forward as the demon began to swing his sword. The ink wave headed right for him as he began to drop sliding across the arena floor. The demonic wave flew right over him as he prepared to swing his sword at the demons legs.

The demon jumped a moment before his swing would make contact while kicking the side of Aaron’s head. The kick quickly turned his slide into a uncontrolled roll.  He tried to ball himself up to roll to his feet but failed as his head struck the ground blurring his vision as he came to a stop.

Aaron looked up at the demon with boiling rage while coughing up blood. He quickly got to his feet while whipping the blood from his lips. Looking at the demons face he noticed that the demons eyes showed excitement.

___ __ ___

Aswar was irritated that he couldn’t find a worthy opponent in this entire tournament. So far he had defeated all of his opponents in less then thirty seconds of starting a match. He didn’t really care about the tournaments anymore since he was the second strongest demon in the clan just under the demon lord.

He had no family and was raised in the army from a young age. Aswar eventually became the disciple of the demon lord’s top general who had watched him for years. By the time he was almost twenty he was one of the top ten fighters in the entire clan. With his level of strength he was selected to be one of the demon lords family guards.

He continued to grow in strength over the next few years and eventually it became time for the next tournament. Aswar quickly applied for the tournament to see how much he has grown against the general’s wishes. As he fought through the tournament matches no one could match his skill and eventually the final match arrived. As he watched his opponent materialize he was shocked to see that it was his master the general.

His master had only joined to tournament to teach his student a lesson. They fought with Aswar barely even able to get past his masters guard. Eventually his master left an opening that he took advantage of and killed him. He did not wish for it to end like it had but it was to late. After defeating his master the demon lord gave him the position as general of his forces.

Now as the winner of the last two tournaments the demon lord ordered him to make sure the human would die. Aswar did not believe that they should kill the human due to him being a chosen but did not give word to his opinion out of fear. Aswar joined the tournament as the demon lord wished and was now facing the human in question.

He was shocked to see that the human now had demon features that he did not see before when he spotted them entering the citadel. The human was a mess covered in burses and cuts from his previous matches. He thought this was strange remembering that in the reports from the other day’s battle that he could heal himself and use holy magic.

He felt it as a dishonor facing an opponent this injured but knew he had to follow the demon lord’s orders. Aswar decided to end this fight quickly and activated demonic slash combining it with his demon swords special ability that multiplied its power and attack by infusing miasma.

He released his attack as Aaron released his own demonic slashes but instead of watching the demonic slash’s he watched Aaron as he began to move. Aswar quickly teleported as Aaron used shadow step as soon as Aaron appeared he quickly brought his sword across the humans back sending him flying.

‘at least he lasted longer then the rest of them…”

The human quickly rolled to his feet slightly surprising Aswar believing his attack would at least stun him or go through his spin. The human quickly attacked him so he blocked it and responded with his own attacks. Deciding to use his demonic slash again began to charge his attack as the human charged him.

‘how stupid human you are only rushing to your death.’

Aswar released his attack sending it right for Aaron. Aswar watched as the human dropped to the ground sliding under his attack while bringing up his own sword. Aswar was shocked at the human freezing for a moment before jumping swinging his leg into the side of the human’s head.

He watched the human painfully roll across the arena and slowly got back up. Surprising him as he whipped blood away that he had just coughed up. Aswar’s blood began to burn with anticipation of continuing this match.

‘Now this is getting exciting! When was the last time someone held out this long against me?’

___ __ ___

Kraet watched as Aaron finished another match and knew there was only one more match left. She feared what would happen but believed that Aaron could defeat Aswar her father’s favorite general. She turned to look at her father seeing him sheathing in anger while releasing small amounts of miasma while his eyes glowed. The demon lord had become quiet after Aarons match with Spaazara not saying anything to her.

Her father smiled while turning to her, “Looks like this match wont last long, Aswar will finish him off.”

“That’s were you are wrong father…”

“Fool girl we must finish him off before he causes anymore trouble.”

“Do you truly fear the chosen or is it your worthless pride as the demon lord.”

His face twisted in anger while one of his fists smashed the armrest.

“You know nothing!”

“Your wrong…”

“Not another word, you are my daughter and I am the demon lord. Now watch as your chosen falls.”

Kraet quickly turned to see Aswar and Aaron launch demonic slashes at each other. They collided exploding taking her gaze off Aaron long enough for him to vanish and appear next to where Aswar was.

She looked over to where he was then quickly looked around for him. She spotted him as Aswar slashed Aarons back sending him flying.

“Aaron!”

Her father stared at her but she didn’t pay attention clenching her armrests as she continued to watch. She calmed a bit as Aaron got to his feet and used shadow step to attack Aswar again but every attack was blocked. She began to pale as Aaron was forced to a knee blocking Aswar’s attack. She was glade to see Aaron brake away and get some distance between the two of them.

‘Aaron keep your distance…’

she watched as Aswar launched another demonic slash with Aaron charging towards him and slid under the attack. He continued sliding and raised his sword to attack Aswar’s legs. She almost jumped out of her seat as Aswar kicked the side of Aaron’s head sending him rolling across the arena. She wanted to run to him and was beginning to slide out of her seat but stopped as she felt her father’s miasma thicken.

She turned to see her father starring angrily at her but watched as his face twisted with an evil grin.

“I told you this was going to be the end of him.”

___ __ ___

Crazed was tapping his foot as he watched the match unfolding before his eyes. His woman was putting up a descent fight but could not even match demon general’s level. But he new watching this fight would give him more information about the generals abilities and decided it was a worthy trade.

The demon next to him laughed, “looks like your woman’s going to lose this fight.”

Crazed turned to him his anger growing but kept it in check.

“Her death will give us more information on this pathetic demon clans general.”

The necromancer smirked connecting a few facts together.

“and when she dies you will reanimate her body as a pet or tool.”

Crazed looked over at the necromancer in irritation.

“I would not talk if I were you unless you want to end up as an undead yourself.”

The necromancer stopped grinning and paled.

“I better go check on the rest of my order.”

Crazed didn’t even pay attention to the necromancer as he left instead he was watching the woman fight. She continued to get beaten but still got up to fight back.

‘I really want to break you and make you my woman.’

Crazed continued to watch the woman and began to grin causing the demon next to him to wonder what he was thinking.

“What is it Crazed?”

he just laughed instead of answering the irritating demon. Crazed had noticed Aarons crimson eyes glowing and his mouth released slight traces of miasma.

‘Now this is going to get interesting! Show me more my little pet.’

___ __ ___

Aaron stood there staring at the demon his anger continuing to grow and his mind slowly turning blank. He quickly activated shadow step to get behind the demon but instead of attacking he activated shadow step again appearing in front of him as he was turning.

Aaron kicked the side of the demons head causing him to stumble back a few steps. The demon spat out a bit of blood and began to smile back at Aaron only angering him more.

The demon vanished and Aaron activated whirlwind spinning around blocking the demons attack and even managed to nick its arm. They quickly jumped back from each other before they charged at each other again. The demon threw a chaotic bolt as he ran and Aaron spun to the side dodging it only to fall into the demons reach.

Aaron noticed the blade swinging at him so he activated twin blade just barley diverting the blade enough to just nick his shoulder. The demon pulled his blade back enough to block two more of the four swings but missed the fourth. He quickly tried to jump back to escape the demons next attack but the demon stuck close.

The demon quickly slashed at Aaron bringing up his sword up to block it. His sword held for a moment before the cracks in it continued to spread and the blade shattered. Aaron’s face turned to a look of shock as the demons blade cut into the side of his stomach.

Aaron used shadow step to get a distance away. He winced from the pain drooping the hilt of the Brocken sword to cover the injury. The demon turned to face him and readied to attack again his smile changing into laughter.

An idea quickly popped into Aarons head and he used shadow step to get to another part of the arena sliding his sword back into its sheaf with one hand while using the other to grab his bow. He looked at his Mana bar that was half empty while shadow stepping again to another part of the arena.

The demon began to turn and run along with Aarons shadow steps while Aaron finished drawing his bow and began to ready an arrow. He began to draw back and used shadow step again. Jumping to another spot in the arena the demon appeared in front of him. Aaron shadow stepped again appearing in the air high above the arena and activated demonic slash on his arrow.

The tip began to gather darkness and flames around its metal tip. He continued to put his demonic aura and mana into it until a pitch-black orb surrounded the tip. Aaron released the arrow as the demon began to look up after a quick look around the arena. As the demon finished looking up the arrow was halfway to its target.

The demon quickly lifted up its sword while activating demonic slash. The Demonic slash met the arrow les then three meters away from the demon. The two demonic force attacks fought against each other for a moment before the arrow was diverted slightly to the side passing each other.

Aaron Shadow stepped to the arena floor near one of its walls. he quickly started to draw another arrow as the demonic slash and arrow passed each other. The arrow pierced into the demons shoulder its attack power reduced from the slash.

Aaron Shadow drew back his next arrow and added the demonic energy to it again while the demon snapped the arrow out of its shoulder. The demon turned towards him as he released the arrow but vanished as a window appeared in front of Aaron.

New Spell Demonic Arrow!

An arrow infused with demonic energy doubles its attack and speed. When demonic arrow makes contact with non-demonic creature it adds a cursed effect slowly draining 5 points of heath a second. When it makes contact with holy creatures it has a explosive effect on target.

Aaron barley paid attention to the window and shadow stepped to another part of the arena while drawing another arrow. The demon was right next to where he was competing a swing of its blade. He continued to draw his arrow back as the demon vanished. Aaron quickly used shadow step again to get into the air above the arena aiming where he was just at and activated demonic arrow.

Aaron blinked noticing that the demon did not appear there. He quickly turned to face the sky the demon was right there bringing down its sword at him with black ink surrounding the blade. He tried to use shadow step to get away but he was out of mana. So he quickly released the arrow but it was to late the blade quickly cut through the bow and came towards his throat.

He didn’t know what happened next but he found himself opening his eyes as he fell from a cloud of smoke. He blinked and the demon was there in front of him feet first slamming into him speeding up his descent. A moment later he slammed into the arena floor cracking the bricks as he sunk a few inches into the ground.

His vision was filled with static and it felt like he was looking down a tunnel. His health bar was flashing red with four percent left and was still dropping slowly. He tried to move but nothing happened he just felt the games numbing pain.

The demon stepped off him and looked down at him his face slowly turning back to a blank look. The demon shook his head before saying something Aaron could barley hear.

“I’m sorry human I wish it did not have to end this way, but the demon lords orders are finale.”

What Aaron could hear made him even angrier causing something to snap in his mind. The demon began to walk away as Aaron’s vision became filled with red his health stopping at two percent.

Aaron watched through his eyes as he felt his body move. Slowly he got up his demonic sword appearing in his right hand. He smiled as he looked over at the demon that now stared at him.

Aswar began to become excited as the human vanished he began to turn expecting him to appear behind him when he appeared in front of him. He expected that the human was bringing down his sword but there was no time to block. Instead the human kicked him.

He took a few steps back spitting out a bit of blood and began to smile finally breaking his emotional block killing his master had caused. Aswar quickly teleported behind him bringing down his sword as the human began to spin rapidly. His blade was blocked and nicked him.

‘More, I need more. Let’s see what you can do human.’

He charged back at him throwing a chaotic bolt while preparing the sword for another swing. The human dodged it as he brought his sword down but it was diverted. Pulling back his sword he blocked the next two hits but missed a forth.

Aswar was about to step back when he noticed the human move back first so he quickly followed with another attack due to the humans opening.  The human blocked with one of his swords but it gave way as its damage past its durability. The human quickly escaped using his strange teleporting technique.

‘Looks like this is coming to an end human.’

That’s when he noticed the human grab his bow. Aswar quickly began to follow his movements and teleported to get close. The human vanished and he headed to the next spot he expected from the pattern but he wasn’t there. Looking around he tried to find him when he felt demonic energy gathering. Looking up he found the human firing a demonic arrow at him.

‘nice now lets see how strong you are with the bow.’

He quickly used his demonic slash diverting the arrow but not enough to miss. It struck his shoulder sending pain throughout his body. Aswar quickly ripped out the arrow before turning towards the human that was about to fire another arrow.

‘Oh this is getting even better show me more human.’

Aswar quickly teleported following the human around dogging another arrow before he followed him back into the air. The human expected him to stay on the ground but instead he was above him. He brought down his sword as the human turned towards him to late as he cut into the bow. Aswar noticed the arrow was now unstable and began to cover his face with his free hand it exploded slowing his fall.

Aswar brought his legs back under him as he accelerated back down towards the human that seemed to have blacked out for a moment. He quickly slammed into him as they neared the ground. The impact barley affected him so he looked down at the human blood spilling out of his mouth and cuts from the Brocken brick stone.

‘looks like that’s it… I would have liked to fight with him again when he was stronger.”

Aswar stepped off the human and sadly shook his head watching the human die.

“I’m sorry human I wish it did not have to end this way, but the demon lords orders are finale.”

He began to walk away as he saw the light began to leave the humans eyes. Turning Aswar began to slide his sword back into its sheaf when he felt a large wave of demonic energy pass by from behind him. he turned back felling another wave of energy.

Slowly the human got to his feet black miasma smoke swirling around him his crimson eyes glowing from pure hatred. He stared at the human a moment longer.

‘This human is dangerous…’

Kraet watched in horror as Aaron’s attacks failed or barley did any damage. He continued to try and get around Aswar’s defenses managing a few nicks here and there. She was on the edge of her seat wanting to jump to her feet and stop the fight.

The demon lord continued to emit pressure and miasma next to her as he began to grin with each new wound Aaron received. Aaron soon blocked another of Aswar’s  attacks but his sword shattered.

“Looks like that’s the end of him. Well we better get ready to congratulate the victor.”

Kraet stared at her father her anger boiling.

“Aaron will not be defeated, and he will turn this around.”

The demon lord laughed, “He will die today and we will finalize your partnership with Spaazara tomorrow at the ball.”

“Over my dead body!”

“I’m sorry but your going to have to accept these facts, Aaron is going to die any moment now and Spaazara is going to be your partner.”

Right then the crowd gasped as Aaron was falling through the air a demonic arrow leaving his bow. The demon lord’s face grew in anger as the arrow drove into Aswar’s shoulder.

Kraet began to smile watching Aaron prepare another arrow. But stopped as Aswar teleported behind him and he shadow stepped away firing another arrow. Soon he was back in the air but Aswar was right behind him. Her mouth opened to yell out something but nothing came out.

Aaron turned to face him but it was to late as his bow was cut through and the arrow exploded. She watched in horror as Aaron continued to fall and Aswar slammed into him. She jumped to her feet at the slammed into the ground angering her father even more but didn’t pay attention to him.

She began to cry as Aswar stepped away while sliding his sword back into his sheaf. That’s when the demonic pressure hit her and the rest of the crowd. She looked closely at Aaron as she felt it again. He began to get up but she felt something was wrong.

Her father jumped up in anger as Aaron’s demonic sword appeared in his hand.

Crazed watched as his woman continued to fight blocking and attacking using an arrange of abilities. Aswar looked like he was toying with her irritating Crazed all the more. The demon next to him watched with bored eyes as her blade shattered.

“looks like it’s the end for her…”

“be quiet she still has plenty more.”

He continued to watch as she took out her bow and began shadow stepping around the arena and eventually fired a demonic arrow from the air.

“did you know she could do that?”

“that abilities new, and please stop talking.”

They continued to move around the arena but she was never able to hit him again. Eventually Aswar caught up with her back up in the air again cutting through her bow causing an explosion. They quickly dropped slamming into the ground.

“looks like that the end of it.”

The demon began to get up but Crazed shook his head.

“No she’s only just started.”

The demon looked down at crazed like he was truly crazy. He then turned to look back at her in shock as he felt the demonic pressure. Slowly she got back up with miasma surrounding her.

Max sat in his office looking at some papers and drinking some coffee. He was going over some features that the company was trying to implement on the next units to be released. Flipping to the next page a red light began flashing in the room and a emergency buzzer started to go of in the Medical capsule room.

Max quickly set down what he was holding and rushed to the next room to see Alan’s capsule lights flashing. He quickly ran to the monitor and looked at all the readings and what Aaron was seeing. Looking though all the reading and then seeing Aaron slowly get up he became confused even more as a new window popped up.

Aaron began to freak out as more and more windows popped up and vanished in front of him. The worst part was that his body was now moving on its own with his best sword at hand.

[“I Can’t Control myself!”]

[“Aaron! Where… I can’t hear him anymore!”]

[“What’s happened?! Enae… I cant hear Aaron but I feel Demonic energy building through the connection.” Kris Said worriedly]

[“It’s happening again he’s going berserk!”]

[Kraet jumped in, “What do you mean has this happened before!”]

[“Hello I’m right here I can hear you!”]

[“Aaron you promised me you would drink with me!”]

[“Laee he’s not dead and please don’t talk mentally when drunk!” Enae said angrily.]

Aaron’s body began to move towards the demon distracting him from the conversation. His health and mana bars began to rapidly climb as he continued to walk forwards. The demon quickly drew his sword back out and prepared to face Aaron.

Aaron shadow stepped right into the demons reach striking its face with the hilt of the sword. The demon staggered and tried to back away but was tripped by Aaron sending him to the ground. Aaron brought his sword down at the demons chest but he rolled to the side before teleporting across the arena.

His body slowly stood strait pulling the sword out of the ground and turned to the demon as he rubbed his bruised cheek and jaw. Aaron quickly shadow stepped next to the demon again swinging his sword. The demon quickly blocked it and slid a few meters from the force but staid on his feet.

The yelling in Aarons head grew for a moment.

[“Why are you forcing him to fight!” Kris yelled in anger.]

[“I’m not its my fathers doing!” Kraet yelled back.]

The demon quickly reestablished his stance as Aaron threw a pitch-black fireball at him. The demon sidestepped it as Aaron once again shadow stepped stabbing into the demons sword arm. The demon kicked Aaron back while grabbing at his arm for a moment.

The demons face turned from a smile to deep concentration as Aaron smiled all his teeth razor sharp due to the changes. He pointed his sword at the demon allowing him to see his hands. They were beginning to develop claws his armor changing to accommodate.

The Demon quickly activated his own Demonic Metamorphoses causing bat like wings to appear while his horns and tail began to change and grow. He quickly lifted his palm while chanting a magic circle appearing in front of his hand.

[“I can’t stop the match!” Kraet cried out]

Aaron’s head tilted before he started to take a few steps forward and activated fire blade. The demon quickly finished his chant and a wave of fire flew towards Aaron spreading as it continued forward. He swung his sword sending a massive ink black demonic slash at the fire wave cutting it in half making a gap as he ran through it.

The demon began throwing chaos bolts at him his body dodging them or striking them down with the demonic sword. As Aaron drew close to the demon it jumped and flew into the air now launching lightning bolts at him. His body dodged the first two but was struck by the third sending him rolling across the ground.

[“Aaron!” Enae yelled]

[“That hurts!”] he wined as the numbing pain sent waves through his body.

[“Aaron!?” the Goddesses asked.]

[“Can you hear me now?”]

[“Aaron are you there?” Enae worriedly asked]

[“you still cant hear me!”]

[“That was definitely him a moment ago.” Kris said more calmly]

Aaron’s body jumped back to its feet staggering a few steps before sending multiple Demonic slashes at the flying demon. The demon continued to dodge them until one barley hit its leg making the demon plummet for a moment.

Aaron quickly looked at his health bar it had worked its way back up to forty percent but was dropped to ten percent from being hit by the lightning bolt. He became even more worried that his body might get hit again soon.

[“Aaron you idiot!” Enae cried.]

They continued to throw a mix of Demonic slashes, fireballs, Chaos and lighting bolts at each other. They all missed ripping apart the arena or disintegrating against the audiences magic barriers. Aarons body sent a number of quick demonic slashes at the demon before shadow stepping above him.

The demon finished throwing another chaos bolt at where he was and began to turn to face him. Aarons body brought down his demonic sword with both his hands at the demon who quickly blocked it. The demon continued to hold his sword there under the force of Aarons blow forcing them even closer to the ground.

They crashed into the ground rolling away from each other. They quickly got up and the demon charged at him his body just standing there. His body then lifted his sword and pointed it strait up in front of him chanting something strange as he moved his sword in a clockwise path in front of him. At it stopped pointing up towards the sky again thirteen fireballs floated in front of him as the demon drew within a few meters.

Aaron’s body finished chanting and the fireballs launched at the demon blowing up upon impact. The demon was sent flying through the air crashing halfway across the arena from him.

The demon slowly got to its feet coughing up blood while staring at Aaron in irritation. Aaron’s body began to charge forward as the demon began chanting another spell. Aaron shadow stepped to with in the demons reach and brought his sword down but the demon sidestepped it continuing his chant. His body continued to swing wildly at the demon but continued to miss or barley able to scratch him.

[“How… when…” Enae stuttered.]

The demon quickly jumped back a few feet finishing his chant causing ten magic circles to appear around Aaron. He watched as red demon imps appeared surrounding him while the demon vanished. Three of the closes imps jumped at him their clawed hands stretched out.

[“Dodge it!” Kraet cried out.]

Aaron’s body laughed as he activated whirlwind cutting through the imps like they were paper. There rest of them stood there shocked giving him enough time to launch a fireball into ones face. They quickly jumped into action as the four began to disintegrate.

One charged at him while the others began to circle him. His body lunged forward swinging his sword at it but missed as it jumped over him.  He turned to find another imp charging at him his body lunging again. His body started to swing his sword before changing its direction swinging up at an angle as it jumped.

[“here another one come’s.” Enae warned.]

The imp fell splitting in half disintegrating before it touched the ground. The imps continued to charge and dodge allowing him to take out two more while barley scratching another. They quickly flipped directing and started to run the opposite way around him. Aaron’s body just stood there for a moment before raising his sword.

The demons all charged at him at once as he shadow stepped outside their ring. Aaron launched a few demonic slashes at them to finish them off while they were confused.  His body turned in search of the demon until he looked up. The demon was a few hundred feet up finishing a chant as a large rock came falling from the sky.

[“Get out of there Aaron!” Kraet yelled.]

[“Move!” Enae Cried.]

[“Oh! My! God!” was all Aaron could think.]

Aarons body continued to stand there and staring at it until he could feel the blistering heat from it. His body used Shadow step to appear behind the demon while the meteor crashed into the center of the arena smashing through the floor creating a small crater.

Aaron stabbed his sword into the demons back but was head-butted with the back of the demons head. Aaron fell backwards flipping until a massive wing shot out of his back and flapped once. He launched at the demon drawing out his other sword out. The demon quickly turned around bringing its sword up to block.

He slammed into the demon as sending them plummeting to the ground as the swung their blades at each other. They cut into each others bodies repeatedly leaving small cuts and gashes. The demon quickly nocked the Katsu sword from his hand leaving him only with his demonic blade.

They continued to swing their blades at one another until his other sword was nocked from his hand. Instead of trying to get away Aaron grabbed the demon and head-butted him repeatedly while clawing at him with his changed hands. This fingers ending in long claws continued to cut into the demon or slam into his armor.

They were both stunned for a moment as they slammed into the bottom of the crater the meteor having disintegrated into pieces on impact. Aaron’s body quickly rapped its hands around the demons throat and slammed the demons head against the ground.

The demon continued to try and break his grip with its hands having lost its sword in the fall. Aaron began to knee him in the stomach weakening the demons attempts at breaking free. The demon tried to throw him off and received another head-butt in response his horns gouging into the demons head.

Slowly the demon began to weaken to the point that it could not even lift its arms while continued to hold his grip around its throat. He continued for a few more moments the demon not even struggling anymore but still making sounds as he tried to breath.

A see though hand tried to shake Aarons arm but it just passed though him. His body didn’t even pay attention to the hand that began to wave in his face. The demons eyes began to roll up in to its skull as Aaron was finally was able to hear the Goddesses yelling at hem.

[“Aaron that’s enough the fights over.” Enae cried.]

[“You’ve won Aaron you can let go.” Kraet Said trying to calm him.]

[“The only good demon is a dead demon. “Kris Cried.]

[“your not helping Kris!” Enae yelled.]

[“Here have a drink Krisss!” Laee said irritated]

[“Let go Aaron.” Kraet said again.]

Aaron quickly tried to release his hold on the demons throat finding that he had control over his body once again. Releasing the demons throat he staggered to his feet while taking a few step’s back.

Enae stood there looking worried reaching her arm for a moment towards him but pulled it back at the last second. She sadly looked down and vanished.

Demonic Berserker has deactivated!

Metamorphosis has begun to reverse!

Holy Aura has activated!

Aaron barley noticed when the Demon ‘s began cheering causing him to look around. Many of the demons stood and began to cheer while a cloaked figure and a demon left the stands. Kraet quickly appeared next to him out of a cloud of smoke to catch him as he fell. He noticed his health bar was now at eighty two percent while his stamina and mana bars were empty.

Kraet held him closely, “Rest Aaron we have a big day tomorrow.
