The ambulance was quickly flying down the road its lights flashing and sirens wailing. Cars quickly got out of the way as the ambulance passed rushing to the closest hospital. Alan Duke lay unconscious Strapped to a gurney with tubes attached to one of his arms and a brace around his neck. A medic sat next to him keeping an eye on the monitor while pumping a oxygen mask.
Medic, “heart rates falling.”
The Driver turned into the hospital parking lot, “we’re here get him ready.”
The medic quickly readied the gurney as the ambulance pulled in front of the emergency entrance where a few nurses and a doctor was waiting. The medic threw open the back doors and jumped out. The driver hopped out and ran around the side to help lower the gurney with the nurses and medic.
Medic, “Patient has a concussion, five broken ribs unknown organ damage, broken arm, and the legs are a mess.”
They quickly pushed the gurney through the door passing the front desk.
The Doctor was checking Alan’s pulse, “in detail please.”
Medic, “Right leg has two brakes the left has one break and a bumper fracture.”
They quickly ran further into the hospital passing the waiting room’s and consulting rooms.
Doctor, “prep him for a CAT Scan and surgery.”
They quickly ran into one of the rooms with the gurney with the doors closing behind them. A sign next to the room lit up with a red light with only a few doctors entering and leaving.
The first of Alan’s family arrived within an hour of the accident and were told to wait in one of the emergency area lounge/waiting rooms. Alan’s mother Krystle and sister Cassidy sat down and waited his mother worried with tears while the sister tried to distract herself. Alan’s mother has worked as a family practice doctor for over the last ten years while his sister had graduated high school two years early before heading off to college to learn genetics.
They continued to wait as more time went by then Alan’s Stepfather with his son and daughter hurried in one carrying a blanket and a book while the other had head phones in. they quickly sat down while Alan’s stepfather hugged his mother.
Stepfather, “Do you know what’s happened.”
Krystle, “They haven’t talked to us yet.”
They sat there a while longer parents holding hands while the kids kept to themselves. They continued to sit there while people walked by or waited in other areas of the room. Everyone looked up as a police officer walked into the room. He stood there a moment before walking over to Alan’s family.
Police officer, “Are you Krystle Alan Duke’s mother?”
Krystle quickly wiped away her tears, “Yes, is there any news about who did this to my son.”
Police officer, “I’m sorry we don’t know yet though we are following a lead right now.”
Stepfather, “what do you mean by a lead, shouldn’t you have found something by now.”
Police officer, “Your son was using his phone at the time. The program or app that he was using caught the vehicle and its license plate.”
Krystle, “what do you mean! I haven’t heard anything about my son yet.”
The Police officer looked down at the ground for a moment before looking back up, “I’m sorry someone should have told you sooner. Your son accident was a hit and run… um… he was hit… by a… truck.” The Police officer did not want to say the last bit and regretted it.
Krystle’s face twisted in horror while most of the family’s face’s turned pale. The stepbrother had a twisted grin before putting on a sad looking poker face. Alan’s stepfather quickly held Alan’s mother.
Step brother, “what kind of app was he using that could have recorded the accident.”
The Police officer pulled his report back out, “um he was using the Mythic Legends app that is connected to a Virtual reality game.”
Cassidy, “when did he start playing that.”
The police officer turned back to Krystle, “I’m sorry this has happened to your family but we are still looking for who did this.”
Krystle, “Thanks’… I hope you catch who ever did this soon.”
The Police officer walked back out of the waiting room as Alan’s father Daniel and grandparents walked into the waiting room. His grand father helped kept Daniel steady as they walked over to Krystle’s family. Alan’s father was partially blind and had part of his foot removed from an accident that left him jobless.
Daniel, “Any news.”
Krystle, “The police officer talked to us a bit… They said it was a hit and run.”
Daniel had a tear roll down his cheek, “do you know how he’s doing.”
Krystle shook her head, “no the doctors haven’t come out to speak with us yet.”
Daniel just nodded not knowing what else to say before sitting a short distance away with Alan’s grandparents. A Krystle and her husband quickly called other members of their family to inform them of what was going on. Daniel and Alan’s grandmother did the same.
Soon the kid’s where drawn over to the TV watching a show before it turned to the news. They talked about some of the local events and weather then the accident came up.
Cassidy, “come look at this.”
The rest of the family turned to the TV.
Female reporter, “I’m here at the scene of the accident where a college student was hit by a truck.”
They where standing on the winding road Alan had been walking down. Most of the area on the screen was roped off with caution tape while a number of cops were coming the site.
A few of the cop’s stood by a tree looking at the ground with one of them taking pictures with a camera. They were looking at where Alan had been laying on the ground with numbered markers and a puddle of blood in his place.
Another group of cops were looking at some tire tracks. Near the tracks Alan’s college books were scattered on the ground with his book bag smashed.
Female Reporter, “The student was believed to be walking back late from the library on the way to the dorms.”
The reporter held a hand to her ear for a moment before looking back at the camera.
“We were just informed that the name of the student is Alan Duke…”
The Reporter went on as Alan’s parent’s phones began to ring with calls from friends, students, and reporters. They answered their phones a few time’s to people they knew but ignored the other calls. This went on for a while as the news went on to other subjects.
Eventually they just sat there in silence again waiting for any news from the doctors. Eventually about five o’clock in the morning a tired looking doctor walked in and looked around asking for Alan’s family. His parents quickly stood up and walked over to the doctor.
Doctor, “He made it through the surgery but he is still not out of the wood’s just yet.”
Krystle, “What’s the damage Doctor?”
The doctor looked over at Krystle thinking for a moment, “He has a broken arm a few Brocken ribs…”
He went on a bit trying to keep it simple and strait as possible while trying not to freak out the family. As he went on Krystle began asking questions about information and details that only doctors knew about. He told her in detail more about the damage and the steps they took to try and fix it. As they went on back and forth Krystle found out how close to death her son had come and how close he still was.
After Krystle and the doctor finished talking he quickly left to keep an eye on his patient. Krystle sat down trembling from knowledge of what her son has been through. She quickly explained to the rest of the family about what the doctor left out and as she finished the family had a look of horror and dread on their faces.
They continued to sit there while a few others fell asleep in the chairs or on near by coaches. By nine in the morning a number of family members and friends had either driven or flew into town to support their family.
Around noon Alan was out of emergency care and put into his own room. The family was allowed in to visit him but the worse part was that he would not wake no matter what the doctors or his family did. As the evening drew near with everyone looking after him they feared he may have fallen into a coma or that he would never wake up. Most of his family left that night to either hotels or back to work in their hometowns.
Krystle, Cassidy, Daniel, and a few other members of the family staid at the hospital another night. The next morning a few representatives from Mythical Legends showed up outside the hospital room. One of the two men knocked on the door waking Cassidy while drawing Krystle and Daniel’s attention.

Representative, “may I come in.”
Krystle, “What do you want?!”
Representative, “Sorry to be disturbing you but I have something you might want to hear.”
Krystle stood up and walked out of the room leaving Daniel and Cassidy at Alan’s side. She quickly closed the door behind her before facing the two men. The one that had asked to talk stood with a strait back and wore a black suite with slicked back hair with a folder under his arm.
Representative, “hello my name’s John and this here is Max.”
He motioned for the second man to step forward. Max was wearing a button up shirt with a jacket over it. The Brest pocket of the jacked was filled with pens and a phone. He wore glasses with long messy hair sticking up everywhere.
Krystle, “this better be good for taking time form being with my son.”
John, “Oh this is about your son… um Krystle.”
Krystle looked nervously at the two of them, “what is it.”
John, “We are from Mythic Legends gaming company…”
Krystle, “Go away I don’t have time for this.”
Max, “no mam please listen we… we’re the ones currently working with the police.”
Krystle looked over to max, “and how are you doing that.”
Max, “you’re so…son had been using our app on…”
John, “he’s trying to say that our app recorded what happened to your son, and that we are here to help you and your son.”
Krystle, “and why would want to do that.”
John, “We are currently working with the medical field to develop a way to communicate with patients that have injuries or that are in coma’s.”
Krystle looked back at her son’s room before turning back to the two men.
Krystle doubted these men but was looking for anything that could help, “In what way can this help my son.”
Max, “we currently ha…have developed a capsule similar to our gaming line. It will allow you to talk to each other in virtual reality or from a monitor. It also ha…has a number of medical functions built in. It can mon…monitor his pulse, breathing, Brain waves…”
John pulled out a pamphlet along with a few notepapers and hand it over to Krystle. She opened it up and began reading through the pamphlet flipping through and looked over the notes. She then looked back at the two men with a mixed look thinking about her medical interest but also worried about how it would affect her son.
Krystle, “It look’s like it’s still in its testing stages.”
Max, “we have the basic and required functions working and have been tested but we are looking for more people for…”
John, “It has finished its trial stages but now we are trying to gather more data and improve upon what we have. We believed that your son is one of the best candidates for the medical program.”
Krystle, “I’m not sure this is the best thing for him. For all I know he could wake up any minute.”
John, “Are you willing to take that chance, we are also offering to place him in a better medical facility than this. He will have all the things he needs along with some of the worlds best health care.”
Krystle, “but the cost…”
John, “we will cover the cost’s of your son… oh and your son also had applied to our company as an intern for this next summer. With his scores and ability we believed that he could become a great asset to our team in the future.”
Krystle thought about the costs and uncertain future for her son staying at this hospital or the better chances that these men have offered to her son. She has been worried about him and his future and they offered all this in one package. She also worried that there was something that John was hiding but Max seemed like a trustable fellow.
Krystle turned to look at her son’s room making up her mind, “is there… Is there anything I need to sign?”
John pulled out a folder with some papers and pamphlets then handed it to Krystle, “there are a few papers for you to sign in here along with more information about the facilities, the program, and our company.”
A few tears fell down her cheeks as she looked at the folders contents, “thank you so much.”
John, “no problem we are glad we could help you.” He said this while thinking of all the good publicity the company would get and another promising employee being brought in.
They walked out to the waiting room while Krystle looked over the folders contents and signed the papers in Alan’s room. They sat across from each other Max holding his hands together while John sat with his arms crossed. They sat quietly for a moment.
Max looked up at John, “I didn’t see anything about the kid being accepted as an intern for the company.”
John, “He is one of the candidates that we found in our search for more employees and he just applied for the position at our company and a few others this last month.”
Max, “it’s surprising that… That he had a accident before being accepted as an intern and fit my programs requirements.”
John, “many of us did not expect this either but this helps our company out even more in the long run.”
Max shook his head, “is that all you… you think about just the improvement of the company? What about the benefits its creating or…”
John, “It’s my job to help improve the company and look to its future.” He thought about how Max and many of the companies divisions knew almost nothing about how they are working on developing things for the government and military.
Max, “so another ne…new fellow employee. I hope he makes it.”
John, “you should see the papers he’s written and projects he’s worked on.”
Max, “You sou… sound like a fan.”
John, “you can say that.”
Krystle walked into the waiting room and spotted the two of them. She quickly walked over and handed John the signed papers from the folder. He looked at them then back at Krystle.
“this shall do just fine.”
Krystle, “when will my son be transferred?”
John, “he will be transferred out early this afternoon.”
Krystle, “thanks again.”
John, “no problem, I need to go get these finalized and we’ll be good.” He quickly turned to Max, “you should probably go get a capsule ready for him.”
Max almost jumped realizing John was right, “It was nice to… to meet you Krystle but I need to go to prepare a room for your son.”
Max quickly walked out and down the hall.
John, “sorry about him he has some quarks he needs to work out.”
Krystle, “no problem and thanks for helping my son.”
John became annoyed but did not show it, “no problem.”
They walked out to the hall john went for the front door while Krystle walked back to Alan’s room. A few hours later a few nurse’s and Alan’s doctor walked in and began to prepare for Alan’s transfer. They quickly lifted him on to a gurney and wheeled him out of the room out to the parking lot where some more of his family came to see him off. They said their goodbyes, as Alan was loaded onto a helicopter.
Alan arrived at the new hospital around two o’clock pm. They took him in and up an elevator. They continued on through to a large room with six capsules most of them were empty except for two. In the capsule along the far wall near the window lay a woman in her early twenties with long red hair with pale skin.
In another capsule half way down there was a young boy with short black hair with his right leg was missing. The was sickly skinny an pale.
Max quickly walked in right behind the doctors and nurses to the pod between the two people. He quickly opened the capsule and stepped aside as the doctor’s lifted Alan into the capsule. They quickly attached wires and tubes before closing the capsule the nurses left leaving the doctor and Max.
Doctor, “we’re all set.”
Max looked over the monitors, “Thank you.”
He quickly tapped a few buttons before activating the Mythical legend program. Max quickly looked at the monitor of what Alan would see.
Aaron woke staring at the open blue sky and feeling something soft behind his head. His whole body felt numb and sore as he began to look around. He first noticed Enae’s flowers around him and then the rest of the Courtyard in Enae’s domain. He began to look back and saw Enae looking down at him that’s when he noticed his head was laying on her lap.
Enae, “Good Morning Aaron.”
Max stared at the screen then over to the capsule with the young red head.
