Myna, Myco, and Mac stepped into the medbot's room. The slim medbot pointed to chairs to the left of his desk. "Please relax and take a seat," the medbot said in a gentle voice. "I've been briefed on your situation and I have the necessary equipment to proceed with the xenobot injections."

The trio sat down and the medbot began to explain the procedure.

"As you know, the xenobots are small, autonomous living agents that can monitor and, in some cases, repair your body systems. In particular, they will detect any signs of PB-78 and deter its presence in your body. The injections will be a bit uncomfortable but shouldn't take more than a few minutes."

The medbot completed one syringe and began another.

"This generation of xenobots have the ability to communicate with one another and with your organs. They will act as a kind of gatekeeper, monitoring and preventing PB-78 from interacting with areas of your body. They also have the ability to transmit data back to us so we can better understand the effects of PB-78."

Myco spoke up. "Will we be able to communicate with the xenobots?"

The medbot nodded. "Yes. I will show you how you can communicate and, at a certain level, control xenobot actions."

Myna, Myco, and Mac nodded.

The medbot administered the injections.

When the injections were complete, the medbot gave the trio a few moments to rest and then had them sit at a small circular table.

"You're all familiar with the way that the Mycelerator uses xenobots to monitor and control the mushroom networks known as mycelium. In this case, adjustments have been made to enable those monitoring and control functions within the human body. The part that we'll review now are the ways that you can interact with them without a Mycelerator or another computing mediator. These xenobots will build an entirely biological communication system within your bodies."

The medbot continued.

They are able to communicate directly with each of you through a process that uses the Ganzfield effect. When your eyes are closed, the xenobots can display short dialogs, simple diagrams, and reports on the backs of your eyelids. Eye movements enable you to interact and wrote notes on your eyelid screens."

The medbot gave test helmets to the trio,

"The training system contained in the helmets will help train you to recognize the new 'screen' that you have in your heads."

They donned the helmets, and started the learning sequence. With their eyes closed, the xenobots ran through a series of test sequences.

Myco said, "the display is fuzzy."

The Medbot said. "Look at parts of the screen that are clearer. The Xenobots will learn from that." Myco concentrated.

After a few minutes, all three had their internal screens working.

The medbot checked his tablet. "If you're all ready, Eliza would like you to come to the Shindig meeting.

The three walked out the door, holding hands.
