Angelo jumps in the bed and lands on his face with his hands wide open.
Puff!
His cheeks are hot. He remembers that when they were kids the girl protected him from bullies and with the same serious face she beaten them up. It is a precious memory of his. That was the time he felt his heart beating faster than usual. At his 10 years old, the girl charmed him up completely with her cheerful and protective side.
His breath quickens as the air is not enough. He doesn't want to get his face out of the blanket.
'Have I fallen for her all over again?' No way! Maybe he was just hot from the way she angered him.
Clearing his thoughts, he lifts himself and heads towards the door.
He will not allow himself to fall for her. She is a human…..
In the kitchen, Ralph is doing the dinner: fruit salad and pancakes. Angelo's favorite food.
He whistles as he turns the pancakes. The fruits are already in the bowl. He will be done soon.
'Smells like pancakes!' Dina sniffs as she jumps from excitement. "They are literally my favorite!"
Her grin brightens more as she sees the fruits cut symmetrically in the bowl.
'Did he cut them with his blood? Hope not …'
"You can put the plates, if you want." Dina sprints to take the plates and arranges them on the table. Her hunger grows as she continues to smell the appetizing scent.
"Well done. Can you go take the jam from upstairs? On the corridor, the room on your left. Till you come, I will finish the pancakes. "Ralph instructs her with a sweet smile on his lips. She is so good at helping him!
Dina goes upstairs and on the corridor that goes to her room she looks left. On one of the three rooms is written 'Storeroom, Don't enter!'.
'This is the room!' She smiles.
Why would Ralph write such confusing lines. 'Was I suppose to teleport?!' Anyways, he was probably mistaken.
She opens the door and gets inside. The room is cold and dark. Some big trunks are lined up waiting to be opened.
'Since when do people keep jam in a freezer?' She rubs her hands to worm up. In her eyes vampires are now weird creatures.
She opens the 'freezer' with a ruby on. She can't see clear so she turns on the light.
"The ruby is pretty …" She whispers.
What to see? There is no jam in it. Just some pretty red crystals. She is excited! Dina never saw this many crystals in real life.

'Did they gathered them through their life? I want to be a vampire too…' Her hands are full of crystals. When she realizes what she just thought, she is shocked. 'How can I think that?'
'Was it the influence of Ralph and Angelo, that she forgot vampires are her object of eternal hate? 'Probably…
She likes the red crystals. She rises her hands and dances with them. They sparkle when the light bulb's light hits their sides as she spins. A game of red color is seen on the walls.
'So pretty !!'
She stops as she remember why she came for.' The jam..'
Just as she wants to go and put them in the trunk a voice scares her enough to drop all the crystals on the floor.
Clink! Clink! Clink!
'DINA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? PUT THEM BACK!"
She turns to see the source of the voice. Angelo jumps towards her. His face is the image of terror and anger mixed. Dina turns back to see what happened with the crystals.
Men and woman taller than her are in the room looking ready to gobble them up. Their fangs are showing and their nail are ready to scratch the girl. Her blood drives them crazy.
Dina is expressionless and looks at the red eyes that stare with hunger at her as if she is the most appetizing meal.
Angelo cuts his hand with his knife and pulls the girl close to his chest as the blood forms a barrier just as one vampire wants to grab her neck.
"To the kitchen!" He shouts.
//Yes master! //
Dina feels his heart beating with power. She remains calm not understanding what just happened.
They are in the kitchen.
"Dad, why was Dina in the storeroom? She crushed at least 20 vampires that were red crystals. They are coming for us."
Ralph frowns and with a quick move takes off the apron off.
"Take her to New York! I will deal with them! Go!" He transforms in a vampire and tries to find them.
"YOU! WHAT WERE YOU SEARCHING IN THAT ROOM? "Angelo glares and grabs her by the shirt.
"Jam …" She is scared by his red eyes. Dina just stares at him.
"JAM! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" He let's go of her.
Of course, he told his father to switch the sign many times. Dina wasn't completely at fault.
A vampire appears and wants to pull the girl in his blood.
Angelo senses it before appearing and he already has the girl in his blood. Through the transparent matter she sees the female vampire hitting her face on the blood wall formed between them.
"Give me the girl!" The vampire's creaky voice makes Dina shiver. She presses her back on the boys chest.
Angelo puts his hand around her neck. Dina closes her eyes and hides her face face behind his hand. Her hands grip the boy's hand.
As they transport to New York, she stays with her back pressed on his chest. The warm feeling makes her calm down. To think she was about to be killed by vampires a moment ago!
'It was my fault. I shouldn't have taken the crystals and play with them….'
The remorse she feels for causing Ralph a hard time crushes her cheerful spirit.
They land in a room. A big bed, a closet, a desk are the things that are arranged neatly in the room. The grey color of the room give Dina a feeling of loneliness.
"Where are we?" She passes under his hand and inspects the room a little more.
"It is my room. Don't make a mess! "Angelo takes the book out of her hand and puts it back on the desk.
Dina feels the hostility coming from him but she is thankful for his help.
She turn to him and with sincere eyes she looks in his eyes that glare at her.
"I am sorry for the mess I caused back at the mansion! I promise to not touch any of your belongings from now on!"
He looks at her and his anger vanishes in thin air.
'You are still the same …'
He smirks. "Than, that means you will sleep on the floor tonight!" Angelo observes her reaction.
Her head drops and like a puppy she sits on the floor with her legs crossed.
"Come on! I was just kidding! "He gets serious and lifts her up. "Let's sleep!"
He tosses her in the bed and he turns off the light.
She is silent. Dina crawls to the wall and curls. 'Sleeping in the bed is better than on the floor. What can he do to me? He hates me anyways…'
She falls asleep as he drags the blanket on them.
