Chapter 14: Adventurers Guild

Chapter 14: Adventurers Guild

I got up, let out a sigh, and steeled myself for what their response would be after i told them my discovery and what I did.

Me: "Before you guys yell, let me get everything out and explain. Afterwards, you can yell all you want. I will accept any punishment you see fit. But know that I had to do this and if I told you two before I did it, you never would have allowed me to do it. It was dangerous, but I managed to figure out what this weird ass energy is. I used my elemental master technique to absorb the energy into my body. After it was cultivated to level 1, and I read the notification from it, I found out that this energy is the chaos element. It is wild and unpredictable. it is also dangerous to use and strengthen, as it will cause one to lose their mind if they are weak in the mind and soul and not careful. I was barely able to hold on during this time. I do not plan on using this element or doing that again."

I finished what I was saying and looked at their expressions. Oh boy, they were both worried and super pissed. Their fists were clinched, like they were trying to control themselves from going nuts. They were silent for what felt like forever, but eventually, my dad spoke.

Dad: "We will talk about what you did and how dangerous that was later. For now, we need to inform the guild immediately. If it really is chaos, this is even worse than we thought. Before you ask, I indeed have heard of this element. It is known to be really dangerous, and only a few have been known to use it. This element is known to corrupt people and make them go crazy and violent. Therefore, everyone that I know who uses it, are very bad, violent people. Alright, let's go."

With that, he turned around and started going back down to exit the dungeon. My mother looked at me for a second and shook her head. Damn I really did upset her again with my actions a few moments ago. I followed her feeling a bit guilty and we left the dungeon as well. a few minutes later, we were just outside of the mammoth dungeon. My father turned to face the guards that were standing by the doors.

Dad: "Guards, you will probably hear an announcement from the guild soon, but advise anyone who enters that this dungeon is now extremely dangerous for anyone under D-rank. we discovered a dangerous energy in thee that was affecting the monsters inside, strengthening them. By the time we got to the 6th and 7th floors, there were E-rank monsters. at the rate of growth per floor, we guess that the boss would be at least late E-rank maybe even D-rank. So, advise those hat are under D-rank to not enter or if they still do, to not go past the the 7th floor."

As he was speaking, the guards face turned to shock and horror.

Guard: "Are you sure? How is this possible? Do you know what is causing it and what this energy is?"

Dad: "Yes, I am sure, my son confirmed it. He can sense and Identify different energies. We all felt it, though he was the only one who could identify it. As to telling you what it is, I do not want to cause a panic, so I will inform the guild and have them decide if they will tell everyone. Also, we do not know what caused it. As soon as we realized the beasts were too strong for our son to handle, we left. The 7th floor was our last. For now, you should take my advice. The energy is too strong for low rankers."

Guard: "Alright. Will do. The guild does need to be informed if this is actually true. i will try and dissuade those who are too weak to not enter."

My father nodded and motioned for us to go. We bid the guard farewell and headed straight toward the guild at a rapid pace. It wasn't too far from the dungeon, so we got there in 5 minutes going at a jog. The place was made with the same material as the government ID office were at the other day. All the important place of the city were made of it. the guild was also about the same size as well. We entered and immediately headed toward an open desk. it was super busy during the day with people going in and out to turn in or accept quests or to do other things. Luckily, there was an open desk. We approached the desk with a sense of urgency. behind it was a young elf man, looking to be roughly around 25 years of age. He had short white hair, maybe an inch long. He had the classic pointed elf years and blue eyes. As soon as he saw us approach, he gave a small smile and spoke with respect.

Elf: "Good day respected adventurers. My name is Elheim. How may I help you?"

Dad: "Good day. we are not doing too well as we have come to see the guild master. We have a matter of utmost importance to speak with them about. We hope to see him at once as the situation might escalate even more."

Elheim: "Yes sir. I will see if he is available. May I ask what the situation is?"

Dad: "Yes. An F-ranked dungeon to the west of here has been infected with an energy that is drastically increasing the monsters power and we fear that their strength are gradually increasing even more as time passes."

Elheim: "I understand. I will inform the guild master and report back to you with his response. Please wait here."

With that, he turned around and rushed toward the office of the head honcho. We did not have to wait even 2 minutes before he came rushing back.

Elheim: "He has requested to speak with you all in his office. Please follow me."

We nodded and followed the young elf. half a minute later, we arrived at the door and the elf knocked lightly. A few seconds later we heard a voice come from the inside telling us to come in. the elf turned the handle and pushed the door open. We went in, while the elf closed the door and left after we did. The office was quite spacious and had a large desk and 3 chairs, one on one side and two on the other. the lone chair was occupied by an aged male human, appearing to be in his 40's. he had greying long black hair and brown eyes. His brows were thick and he sported a thick black beard that was a couple inches long. When he saw us enter he stood up and motioned for us to sit. I remained sanding while my parents sat. After they were seated the guild master also sat down.

Guild Master: "Good day adventurers. My name is Van Hugh. What are your names? I also heard from young Elfheim that there was an urgent matter that you need to talk to me about. He told me the basics, but could you go over it all from your perspective. Leave nothing out if you would so I can get a better picture of the situation."

Dad: "My name is Mike Ulrich and this is my wife Sarah and my son Aug. today, to train my boy as well as let him gain practical and real fighting experience, we went to the f-rank dungeon to the west of here that is commonly known as the newbie dungeon. As for what happened, I will let my son explain it as he would be able to better than I as he was the one who identified what affected the monsters inside. Son, go ahead. Start from the beginning from when we first stepped into the dungeon."

I nodded and took a breath before I started to explain what happened and what we noticed and saw. I started off with what we felt when we stepped into the first floor and how the energy tried to affect our minds. I went on to tell him that the beasts were not affected until about the third and fourth floors while the energy kept getting stronger. I further went on to explain that we noticed that the energy seemed to increase the beasts strength more and more the higher the floors. I went on to tell him about my skill called Identify and that I could read the details and power of items and creatures. BTW, the reason I could identify the details of those E-rankers was because my Identify skill ranked up to E-rank. Forgot to mention that. Anyway, I told him about the strengths of the beasts that I fought as well as their ranks and that we predicted what the strength might be of the boss. Finally, I brought up that I identified the energy that infected the dungeon and how I did so. to prove it, I showed him my status panel, my elemental master skill description as well as the elements I cultivated and their levels. I also mentioned that we could not figure out why and how the dungeon was infected. During my entire explanation, he had no change of expression, he continued to look calm and collected. When I finished, he let out a sigh, folded his hands and looked at me in the eyes.

Van Hugh: "If what you said was true, and I believe it is based on what you showed me from your...what was it? Stat panels? I also believe that this is a far more dangerous and grim situation than you believe it to be. For example, if this one was infected, who is to say the other dungeons in the city weren't as well. Heck even the dungeons around the city or the world could be infected as well. Now, the chaos element is rare. it is also dangerous, very dangerous, due to its unpredictability and tendency to cause one to go insane and become violent. We have guards outside of every dungeon, so if it was infected because of someone, they had to have a remarkable stealth ability. If this is the case, it will be extremely difficult to find the culprit due to the city not having any known registered chaos users plus the fact that they are hard to find throughout the world. My only speculation is that it is someone from the chaos guild. I pray that they are not behind this. They are well known for their violent behavior. their base is also not known. If they are indeed behind this dark scheme, things will get much worse. For now, we have to focus on investigating this problem. Here is what I will do. I will put out a world quest. it will be unranked, but with a suggestion of being at least a D-rank to undertake it. It will request those who undertake it to help identify, clear, and investigate these infected dungeons. Of course, they would not be able to determine if the energy is indeed chaos, but they would be able to sense something weird. I do not believe anyone in this city could identify the chaos element. I will also put a team together to be the main investigators of this threat. It will consist of the strongest people in this city. before I go on, can you recognize this energy without cultivating it?"

I nodded.

Van Hugh: "Good. I will put you on the team as well. The team will help clear dungeons as well as explore the woods and surroundings of the city to see if the monsters and those areas are affected as well. We need to know the extent of this problem and prepare in case of an emergency appears. How do you three feel about these actions?"

before me and my dad could say anything, my mother spoke up immediately.

Mom: "I like the first two suggestions, however, I am not on board with my son being put in danger and on the front lines of this situation. He just turned 16 and has very little fighting experience."

i sighed and my father nodded, seemingly agreeing with what she said. the guild master rubbed his chin thinking for a few seconds.

Van Hugh: "We need your son, as he is the only one who can identify it without a doubt. So, how about one or both of you join him. I can also have the others in the team train him to fight. What do you think about this? We really need your son's help."

My mother and father struggled with replying. I let out a sigh and spoke.

Me: "Mom, dad, I know you guys are worried, but what he said makes sense. I am the only one who can identify it. I also want to help get rid of it and protect this city and the people in it including you two. Although I might not be able to purify the chaos or get rid of it, i should be able to in the future. I just got to get stronger and figure it out. this will allow me to do both. You two know this as well in your hearts."

They looked at each other with frustrated expressions and sighed.

Mom: "We know Auggie. We...are just worried about you. this isn't something a child should have to do. Children your age should only be worried about having fun and growing up, not having a huge burden like this place upon your shoulders. Us adults, especially parents, should be protecting you, not the other way around. However, what pains me more is knowing that you and him are right. the city needs you. this whole thing...just fucking sucks!"

I gasped. my mother never curses. This just goes to show just how much she is upset about it. My father wrapped an arm around her, trying to calm her a bit. She then looked straight at the guild master who was just listening to us discussing what we would do.

Mom: "As much as I do not like this, we agree. We will only allow him to be a part of this if we are are put on the team as well. Even though you will have the strongest people in the city in it, I want to be able to protect my son myself."

the guild master nodded and looked at my father to see if he agreed as well. He nodded confirming what she said. The guild master smiled.

Van Hugh: "Alright. With that situated and approved, let's get started."
